Exploring the Countryside: There are local swimming lakes at Meuzac, St Germain les Belles and St. Yrieix la Perche with beaches and small restaurants/snack bars. Short walks can be taken within the bounds of the property and there are plenty of longer signposted walks or cycle rides around the locality. The Vezere, Lot and Dordogne valleys are all within easy travelling distance with their stunning views and pretty villages including Rocamadour, Collonge La Rouge, Cirq Lapopie and many others

Culture / Places of Interest : Chabrenas is close to the cultural areas of Limoges (30 km) and Brive (50 km) both of which have cathedrals, many shops, museums, theatres and plenty of local history. Many summer festivals, classical concerts are held in local towns in July and August. Horse racing is held every Wednesday and some weekends during July/August/September in Arnac Pompadour. There are many chateaux to visit including our local Coussac Bonneval (8 km) also La Grenerie, Hautefort, Arnac Pompadour, Jummillac le Grand and a bit futher afield Turenne, Castlenau & Montal. Lubersac, Arnac Pompadour and St Yrieix are market towns on the route of “Richard the Lionheart”, all within 10/15 minutes drive and all have shops, supermarkets, bars and restaurants. Oradour sur Glane is also just northwest of Limoges and this village was the scene of a 2nd World War massacre by the Nazis. Spectacular caves can be seen at Grotte de Roc, Goffre de Padirac and the cave paintings of Grotte de Lascaux.

The gite is separate and securely fenced off from the main house, with the half an acre of garden, plus the swimming pool ( with safety alarm), being exclusive to the gite guests (open May to October) The wood-fired hot tub is available all year, and is also exclusive to you.
This 2 bedroom, recently- refurbished, gite sleeps 5.
There is a spacious and well-equipped kitchen/ dining room, including a cooker, microwave, dishwasher, toaster, kettle, coffee- maker and high chair. A washing-machine, ironing board and iron are available on request. The comfortable sitting room has a stunning view through triple patio doors. There is English and French TV, DVD player, CD player, Wifi, and a selection of DVDs and games. The shower room/WC has a walk-in shower, illuminated sink unit, and heated towel rail. There are 2 upstairs bedrooms, the first has a double bed and cot. It leads on to a balcony, with seating for 2 people, overlooking the pool, and the views are amazing. There swimming pool is 8x4 metres, with a constant depth of 1.32 metres (no deep-end)The pool is fitted with a safety alarm and is surrounded by a large deck area, which offers 5 sun loungers, a table with 6 chairs, a parasol, and BBQ. There is an adult double swing in the shade of the trees, a children's swing and boule and badminton can be played on the lawn. There is off-road parking for 2 cars, and garage parking for 2 motorbikes.

The delightful electrically heated cottage has exposed beams throughout. The Lounge area centres around a large oak beamed fireplace with a wood-burning stove having three seater settee and another chair. There is a television, DVD player and provision for English and French television.

Kitchen/ Dining Area has a large table with four chairs and kitchen has been equipped to a high standard with full size dishwasher, fridge freezer, cooker and microwave.

Leading off this open plan living area is the main bathroom with shower cubicle, wash basin and toilet.

The stairs lead to the landing area. The cottage has two bedrooms, one with a king-size bed and the other with two single beds. either of these bedrooms could also accommodate a cot / travel cot if required.

There is also a separate toilet / wash basin room upstairs. Washing Machine is situated in nearby Bread Oven building and tumble dryer available by arrangement.

- "Really nice" - "We loved our stay at Andy and Trina’s gite. The cottage is well equipped and in a lovely private orchard. The house is bijou but we felt it was bigger than we had expected from the photos so actually we found we had plenty of space. The space is carefully planned and adequately equipped for our stay with everything we needed. Andy and Trina are kind and helpful people and they well deserve their Premier Host status. They brought us up to date tourist information and lent us a map to get to a place our maps didn’t quite cover. They graciously put up with our car alarm randomly going off, which as it turned out, was caused by insects flying in and setting it off after dark. Other guests may want to deactivate their acoustic alarm as we eventually did! It is a very peaceful and restful area and the roads were relatively quiet and empty so getting about was a joy. There are three good swimming lakes (with sandy beaches and lifeguards) within 20 mins or so and several chateaux, pretty villages and towns to explore. It may have been the time of year but every few days there seemed to be some sort of event taking place in the various nearby villages and towns. We have very fond memories of our stay."

This little love nest in a green setting with beautiful views of the Creuse valleys and the fishing pond is a haven of peace. 10 minutes from the cottage you will practice climbing on the wall of a viaduct.
At 20 minutes there is the golf 18 holes Jonchère.
The Wolves Park Chabrières, the giant Labyrhinte, or the hook-branch will entertain young and old.
For those who like Nordic dogs and the ballad, Julien will make you discover the cani'rando, cani'trottinette or cani'kart. The kids love it!

More cultural side Creuse is full of treasures.
Do not miss the 12th century Château de Boussac in which the famous tapestries of the Lady with the Unicorn were discovered. Clad with the granite walls of the Petite Creuse gorges, the castle offers an impressive spectacle.
In the same area you will not miss the perched village of Toulx Ste Croix whose tower dominates six departments. The magnificent and magnificent view makes you see the Puy de Dôme and the Puy de Sancy. The small Romanesque church of Toulx, separated in two by the road, is a curiosity. Not far from this village the remarkable site of Pierres Jaumâtres inspired Georges Sand for his novel "Jeanne". It is a mass of huge rocks millennia that contributes to the legends and the mystery of the place.
The castle of Villemonteix 14th century fully furnished is also worth visiting. Its architecture is typical of the castles of the Creuse.
The valley of the painters of Creuse was the cradle of the Crozant school where the Impressionists such as Claude Monet worked and left many works representing the landscapes of the Creuse. You will discover painting galleries and museums. The ruins of the old fortress of Crozant from the Xth-XIIth century perched on its rock coiled at the confluence of the Creuse and Sedelle forming a romantic and enchanting landscape. You will end with a relaxing boat trip that will take you to the dam Eguzon sailing through the meanders of the Creuse.
Several remarkable gardens are to visit. My preferences go to the Garden of Sédelle and that of Val Maubrune.
You will not leave the Creuse Without having visited the new international museum of Aubusson tapestry. The Aubusson Tapestry is inscribed in the "Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity" by Unesco. You will find various tapestry exhibitions in several churches and castles of the department.
In Creuse almost all the churches being classified are in perfect condition. They date back to the 12th century. The Sainte Valérie Abbey in Chambon sur Voueize (3rd favorite village of the French in 2016) and the Benevento Abbey, located on the road to Compostela, are pure jewels of 12th century architecture. As for the church of Moutier d'Ahun, it has stalls carved in the 17th century S which are of exceptional beauty.
You will leave without having seen everything obviously, because this is only a sample of what you can discover. Between the monuments, the theme parks, the natural sites, the gardens, the fishing or the sports each one will find activities which will suit him. You will leave Creuse with lots of unforgettable memories. For those who just want to rest, the Creuse is the perfect place to relax.

- "Perfect bliss"

Located in a quiet hamlet in the heart of the Limousin is this detached two-bedroom stone gite with private heated swimming pool.

On the ground floor is a large open plan lounge/dining room with beamed ceilings and tiled floors which always stay cool in the heat of the summer, a wood burning stove (for those cooler evenings), a spacious fully fitted and well-equipped kitchen and a shower room/wc. There is also access out to the rear sitting/dining area and garden.

Upstairs is a double bedroom with king size bed and a juliette balcony. The room overlooks the pool and has views across the fields towards Lussac-les-Eglises. There is also a triple bedded room plus a bathroom with bath and shower attachment. The house has free wi-fi, UK satellite TV and a DVD player.

Outside, is the 10x5 in-ground swimming pool with pool alarm (the pool is exclusively for the use of gite guests), a terrace with table and chairs for six, a barbecue and a large, private lawned area ideal for al fresco meals, games or sunbathing. There are loungers plus a selection of pool toys and outdoor games, including a table tennis table. The pool is heated from the end May to the end of September.

The gite is surrounded by beautiful countryside and there are plenty of places to walk or cycle and enjoy the peace and quiet. You will also find opportunities for fishing, golf and water sports nearby plus some charming old villages and interesting markets to visit.

The area around the gite is alive with birds. Apart from the native species we have many summer visitors including hoopoes, golden orieles, nightingales and shrikes. In the spring and autumn we are treated to the magnificent sight and sound of thousands of migrating grey cranes. During the summer months the garden and surrounding area are also filled with butterflies. Apart from the birds and butterflies, we regularly see deer and red squirrels in the garden and we also have a healthy population of hedgehogs. If you are lucky you might just see a pine marten too.

If you enjoy star gazing, the night skies above the gite are beautiful with the Milky Way often clearly visible.

Our local village, Lussac-les-Eglises, is approx 1 km away and has a boulangerie, small Spar shop, pharmacy and tabac. The nearest supermarket (Intermarche) is in Magnac Laval, which is a 15 minute drive away.

We live on site in the barn adjacent to (but separate from) the gite. Please be reassured that we will respect your privacy at all times. However, we will always be available to help with any problems and to answer any questions you may have.

Please note: the gite is located in a very quiet rural area - it is definitely not a metropolis! Our nearest small towns with supermarkets and restaurants are Magnac Laval and Le Dorat, which are both 15 minutes drive away. Bellac, La Souterraine and Montmorillon are all within 30 minutes drive and have a wider selection of shops, supermarkets, restaurants and other amenities.
