- "Upon first entry the appartment was clean, warm and inviting. We had 2 wonderful weeks and everything was first class." - "This was the second time we've stayed at Les Chardons (the downstairs apartment) for a skiing holiday. Vignec is a beautiful village near to Saint Lary. You can walk between the two but we leave all the skis in the car and drive the short distance to the new telecabine each day. The apartment is spacious compared to most modern purpose built places and perfect for a family with two children. Ours are aged 10 and 8 and loved their bunk beds. There's a well equipped kitchen, a proper dining table and chairs as well as a sofa and TV area. Sheets, towels etc are provided. M & Mme Escalonna (Nicole and Bernard), the owners are really kind, helpful and welcoming (thanks for the pyrenees cake and the jam!). Although they don't speak much English they are extremely patient with our French and their son has helped translate in the past if there has been anything complicated. While you're there they leave you alone but you know they are just nearby if you need anything. One of the best features of the apartment is the wood burning stove. It is fantastic. Bernard fills up the wood store with more than enough wood for the week for 20 Euros and for that you can light the fire when you get back every evening and with the thick stone walls it keeps the place really toasty. The wifi connection works well and there always seems to be plenty of hot water. At the end of the stay you just pay for any firewood and the electricity bill before leaving. I would recommend this place to a family with two young kids (or older ones that can share a room). Mind you I would love to stay here some time without the kids and check out a few more of the local restaurants in the evenings."

El Casot at Can Llouquette is a recently renovated holiday cottage, ideally suited for up to two adults, though one baby can also be accommodated. It is private, has it’s own entrance, a well-equipped kitchen, living room, double bedroom, toilet and shower and it’s own terrace overlooking the forest with BBQ and garden furniture.

Can Llouquette itself is an old apple farmstead with several buildings set in 20 acres. It has a large child-friendly pool set in a mature garden with lawn surrounded by forest and hills. We have a vegetable garden, meadows and about 1km of stream which has a plunge pool, picnic tables, BBQ, swings (and in high summer hammocks).

What makes Can Llouquette extra special is that it is set in its very own little valley. It is extremely private with no neighbours. We are surrounded by nature and there is no light pollution so the night sky is a delight. At night all you are likely to hear is the stream, the fountain, owls, boar and the occasional bark of roe deer. We have our own animals including chickens. Gorgeous mountain walks are possible from the house and within a short driving distance.

This is real unadulterated nature. It is stunningly beautiful and peaceful and at times capricious and unpredictable it is nature as few city people encounter in modern life. For us it is intoxicating. We have had to learn to become totally self-reliant. If you are the kind of person that thrives on busy towns and constant connectivity it is most likely not for you: we have no TVs, mobile reception is poor in the mountains, we do have Wifi (but we cannot always guarantee that because of storms). But instead of this you get the sound of the river, glorious sunshine, occasional wild summer storms, balmy evenings and lots and lots of peace.

It is this that makes it the perfect peaceful rural location to escape modern life, because you are truly enveloped in nature. The perfect place to detox and completely disengage from the pressures of the daily grind.
And yet, amidst all of this peace, our small village with bakery, cafe and restaurant is only 5 minutes away. And the sleepy medieval villages and market towns of Serralongue, Prats-de-Mollo and Amélie-les-Bains as well as Céret (and Camprodon in Spain) are all within easy driving distance. Wonderful seaside towns like Collioure on the Mediterranean and the beaches and bays of the Côte Vermeille are only an hour away.

This is the Eastern Pyrenees, the most southerly valley in France. It is an area of outstanding natural beauty only thirty miles from the Mediterranean at the start of the Pyrenean mountain range. We are only 25 minutes from Spain and can be reached from Girona or Barcelona, as well as Perpignan airports. In fact there are six airports that service this area. We are happy to give advice on travel.

Welcome to Domaine Castell de Blés, a wine-growing estate dating back to the late 19th century! It has 4 gîtes and a guest house.

The Canigou gîte is a 90 m2 cocoon, bathed in light, where you can gather with family or friends for a holiday or a weekend!

It has been decorated with pieces made by local craftsmen or found on our walks, to create a warm and refined atmosphere.

Access is via a spacious private terrace.

The large French window opens onto the living-dining area, where you'll find a fully-equipped open-plan kitchen (fridge, dishwasher, microwave) around a cooking area.

The first bedroom has a 160x200 bed and an en suite bathroom with shower, bath and WC.

The second bedroom has 2 single beds that can be assembled to form a double bed (160x200).

The third bedroom opens onto the living room. Its 140cm sofa converts to a bed with a professional-quality mattress.

A shower room with walk-in shower and WC is next to the two bedrooms.

Each bedroom has storage space and a television.

- "This is a wonderfully renovated house with loads of character in a beautiful location in the Pyrenees. Lots of space, nice garden and pool. The kitchen and bathrooms were well equipped, and in great shape. Everything was clean and Sophie was very welcoming and informative, and provided a welcome charcuterie platter for us! She was very friendly and helpful, and gave lots of great ideas for trips and activities. The house is in a quite secluded location, and is a bit tricky to find. The approach road is very narrow, and a bit scary to drive at first. We had some lovely trips through the mountains to various lovely villages, the Abbey St. Martin, and the Dali museum in Figueres. It was great to experience the Catalan vibe, and explore this lovely area."
