Bak A Yaad Hostel is a 6 person mixed doorm. There is an en suite bathroom, ceiling fan, and lockers located in the room. Locks can also be purchased from the front office if you do not have one. The space
A hostel room designed specifically for backpackers & travellers with limited luggage that are travelling Jamaica, the Caribbean or the world! Papaya is a small single room with a window and it's own lockable door outfitted with a single bed, standing fan, shelving, mirror, small table, dishware and a safe box. All bedding and towels are provided too.

Two shared kitchens, one with barbque, equipped with most things you need to cook. There is also a prep and dining area close to one kitchen.

Two bathrooms, with mirrors and hooks. One has a hot water heater but water is rarely cold as the sun heats the tank water most days. There is also an outdoor shower at the back of the housekeeping room.

The Judy House is self-catering so there is no daily maid service. For the long stay guest there is room service every 7 days.

We both compost and recycle so please assist with that process. Please let one of us know if there is anything else you need.

The Judy House Cottages - Both 'Judy House' and 'Kim's Place' Cottages nestle privately in the ¼ acre property in front of the main house, providing you with the utmost seclusion while still feeling secure. You will feel comfortable and at home with all the modern amenities. The lush gardens that surround the cottages are truly stunning. You can glimpse the sea from parts of the back garden.

Lewi's Backpacker Hostel, Brighton District is 30 mins from Negril. For those who like the unusual, away from mainstream tourism is a beautifully converted shipping container. The 'Ship' houses one specialty accommodation across the lane from the Caribbean Sea and is surrounded by 1/2 acre of tropical gardens, bushland, and amazing countryside views.

Judy House Brighton - Lewi's Backpacker Hostel is such a special, quiet and beautiful place. Surrounded by nature and across the road from the Caribbean Sea. Set in a local Jamaican community where many people fish and farm to make a living. This very friendly community, who don't believe in tourist harassment, will make you very welcome indeed.

The space
Ashley's Double Room has its own entrance; 2 windows; a high ceiling; a large commercial ceiling fan; a small outside deck with lounge chairs; a patio with table and benches. Inside is 1 double bed: a mosquito net; a safe box; storage; hanging space and shelves. It is an excellent location for travelers who enjoy the outdoors and love the country's seaside life away from mainstream tourism. Basic, attractive, clean, and comfortable accommodation set in a secure gorgeous tropical garden that is fenced and gated.

Please note that we are a 'Green Globe Property' and encourage all our guests to enjoy 'Green Living' by being conscious of using energy ie., plugging out all 'ghost' appliances - phone chargers, laptop battery packs, etc when not in use, PLUS switching off and plugging out all fans, AC, etc when not in your room. We harvest rainwater 9or buy truck water) and use a modern ECO sewage system so we ask you to use and recycle water consciously.

Guests share 3 outdoor, equipped bathrooms, (one with hot water) 2 kitchens, and 2 outdoor showers. All linens and towels provided. They also have access to all pathways and gardens, (except those that belong to the cottages and private rooms. )

There are both communal and private Cabana areas to dine in or just hang out, including 2 covered hammock cabanas (Suitable for Yoga, exercising. reading and napping). There's a 'no smoking' cabana for those who don't.

On the top terrace there is a sun deck with loungers, chairs, and a large covered communal cabana with a long table and benches.(a great meeting space with a view of the amazing Jamaica bushland, plus the moon and stars).

Other things to note
Visitors - The Judy House operates a no visitor policy so only registered guests and staff are allowed on the property. Please do not invite anyone onto the property at any time. Always close and lock the gate with your key when you are entering or leaving the property.

Security - I have a Jamaica government registered private security company, I am a trained and government registered guard and I employ local unobstrusive guards to secure your safety. Please play your part in that by observing the 'No Visitors Policy' above and keeping the gate locked at all times.

Self-Catering - The Judy House properties are self-catering and you are always expected to clean up after yourself/selves. Cooking pans, especially in the shared kitchen, should be washed immediately after use to enable others to cook, but also keep any flies, ants, and vermin away. Please note: My staff are not paid to wash the dishes that you are issued with. Dirty ones will be removed.

Housekeeping once/twice a week by our own Little Bay Housekeeper, 'Sister' who cleans throughout the whole property. Clean towels are located in the bathroom. Please put dirty ones in the basket provided along with your sheets, pillow slips and sleeping bag liners when you leave.

Laundry Service - Can be provided by Sister at a small charge which helps her earn extra cash. Please use the big laundry sink provided by the outdoor kitchen to do your laundry. Do not use bathroom, kitchen or construction sinks for this purpose. Laundry line and clothespins are provided close to the laundry sink.

Cooking Services - Below is a list where you can find food to cook or ready cooked.

Drinking Water - Boil or use the steriliser before drinking water. We have no city water in Brighton and rely on harvesting rainwater or expensive trucked spring water. Water is precious at Lewis’s so please use it sparingly, take advise from the signage we display.

Smoking - We request you not to smoke on the property verandah or in the kitchen, room or tents. You are welcome to smoke anywhere else.

Fire Prevention - Do not smoke in your room or light mosquito coils in your tent. Turn off the gas supply to the stove when finished cooking.

Insects and Critters - Especially ants/lizards will have a perfect feast if you leave un-containerised food around. They will feast on what you eat or keep in your tent and share your sleeping bags sometimes too! Plastic containers are provided for food storage. which can be found in the kitchens and should be kept in there or your lockers.

Mosquitos - Are manageable for most people if you take care not to let them in your tent, room or dorm. Keep your mosquito net closed up and/or keep your door closed at all times. If you get them inside, use a spray and close back up when you are going out. In any tropical country using repellent and after bite can useful. Lime and garlic can also be good repellant.

Toilet and Bathroom - We have a non-polluting ‘Eco’ sewerage system on the property which works best with no paper. Please put all paper in the bins provided. Again clean up after yourselves. Wet towels and clothes can be hung to dry on the laundry line by the laundry sink. Again please use the big laundry sinks provided outside to do your laundry and NOT the bathroom or kitchen sinks as this habit is considered very unhygienic in Jamaica.

Electricity and Water - Are both very precious and expensive on our beautiful island. The water system is designed to recycle your wastewater. Please use water sparingly - use the bowls provided for washing up and laundry. Recycle the water in the gardens. Switch off the water when shampooing hair, soaping your body and brushing teeth. Rinse when done.

Plug out any electrical appliances or lights when not using them, including PHONE CHARGERS which still pull electricity when there is no phone on the end of it!

Pets - please do not feed Teddi or Sausage the dogs, they are very well looked after and fed daily. Teddi has been taught not to beg, PLEASE DO NOT TEACH HIM or give them your scraps.

Recycling Garbage - You are asked to dispose of garbage in the drum by the gate. Always recycle plastic; cards and paper; cans and glass in the baskets provided. These are taken to the recycling centre in Negril weekly.

REMEMBER - Due to the challenges some visitors can cause
NO VISITORS ARE ALLOWED ON PROPERTY - VISITORS, DRIVERS AND SERVICE PROVIDERS SHOULD NOT BE INVITED ON PROPERTY BY GUESTS or WORKERS.
