- "Excellent on all levels! " - "Our entire experience was memorable and great! We were treated great by everyone. " - "Our family stayed at the resort along with another family with a tween and teens. We enjoyed the indoor saltwater pool as well as the archery lesson. The complimentary shuttle was very convenient. We took advantage of the service for dinner at the Goodstone Inn, about a 10 minute drive away. The breakfast buffet was also very nice. The only reason I gave a 4 was that the wait for the Gold Cup was long and it would’ve been nice to have another dinner choice besides Harriman’s. "

- "Everything about our stay was sensational. We checked in around 5:30PM and was greeted by the owner with milk and cookies to bring to the room. We forgot a few small things and ordered wine shortly after getting in our room which got to us within minutes! The room was beautifully decorated yet simple and peaceful while being spotless. The bedding was heavenly. The Jacuzzi bathtub worked well. Even the bath soap ACTUALLY smelled nice! The breakfast we had for 2 mornings was DElicious and made with love (some of the best banana bread and pancakes I have ever had). We appreciated all the small details like a welcome box upon arrival to having individual coffee and tea at each table, and beautiful views. Thank you for making our much needed weekend away so great."

The Hunt Box is located on our family farm where we raise Christmas trees, herbs and flowers, right in the heart of Virginia’s Hunt Country. In 2002 we built this house based on our studies of the architecture of Colonial Williamsburg. We gave it a tidewater story-and-a-half appearance with standing seam metal roof, clapboard siding, stone and stucco foundation, cozy front porch and second floor dormer windows. The interior is highlighted by the stone fireplace and rough beam mantel, large light-filled windows that overlook barns, woods and pastures. Most unique is the wide plank flooring of oak and chestnut which originated from a hundred year old barn in Sperryville, VA, which we had dismantled and made into flooring for the cottage. The stone for the fireplace was unearthed here on the farm. The configuration of bedrooms is: the top floor (2nd story) has a large master bedroom with king bed, dressing table, dresser and sitting area, plus flat screen TV and walk-in closet, as well as a smaller bedroom with an antique iron and brass double bed and corner sitting area; there is a shared double vanity bathroom on this level. The first floor has an entry area leading to the formal 'great room' with the dining area. There is a fully equipped kitchen with stainless steel appliances, and a separate mudroom/laundry room. The third bedroom is on this level, with a walk-in closet, full bath and flat screen TV. This serves as a sitting room/den during the day and uses a queen pull-out sofa for overnight. This room leads to a lovely covered stone porch with pastoral and sunset views from the old-fashioned porch swing. We are conveniently located 6 miles from Middleburg, 38 miles West of DC, 35 miles East of the Shenandoah Valley, on a quiet country lane in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains.
This Williamsburg reproduction guest cottage is decorated as a traditional English Hunt Box, with equine art and memorabilia, lovely antiques, oriental carpets on wide-plank oak and chestnut floors, a stone fireplace and high-end bed linens. Enjoy the outdoors from two patios and a covered porch, with views of mountains and fields. Relax in the comfort of a fully-equipped modern house with a touch of our English heritage.
Our surroundings provide the opportunity to witness the traditional fox hunt, watch farm-related chores and animals, walk along quiet country roads, hike to Goose Creek, enjoy our extensive flowering trees and perennials, or simply relax on the porch swing while you watch the sun setting over the Blue Ridge Mountains. Guests can enjoy seeing our miniature donkeys romp around their pasture. Mother Nature provides the opportunity to experience: the flights of red-shouldered hawks, pileated woodpeckers and the occasional great blue heron; our perennial pair of Canada Geese walking through the horse field; deer grazing in our fields and the nightly sounds of owls and spring peepers.
Our farm is located one hour west of Washington, D.C. and 40 minutes west of Dulles International Airport. We are in a rural area with farms 300 to 1500 acres nearby. Fine dining is available in every direction from Middleburg to Leesburg, Warrenton, Upperville and of course the D.C. area. Recreational activities exist all around with Vineyards and Wineries, Museums, Battlefields, hiking on local trails or the Appalachian Trail, horseback riding, tubing on the Shenandoah River at historic Harpers Ferry, WV. Loudoun and Fauquier Counties have the largest concentration of wineries in the state, providing the opportunity to spend full days touring and tasting a great variety of Virginia wines.
The cottage would be an excellent home base while visiting Washington, D.C. or for the business person doing an extended stay in the DC Metro area or the Dulles Corridor and wanting space for their family to visit on weekends. A great weekend escape for residents of the DC area, we welcome weekend foxhunters, couples on retreat, families seeking country pleasures, cyclists, writers seeking solitude or anyone wishing to immerse themselves in the mystique of Middleburg and the hunt country of Virginia. Those involved in fox hunting will enjoy our proximity to all of the local hunt meets; the Middleburg Hunt and The Snickersville Hunt pass through adjoining farms. We welcome riders in the numerous horse shows in our area, from the Hunter/Jumpers to Steeplechasers. Garden lovers and those following the spring garden tours will love our proximity to the Virginia State Arboretum at Blandy, Oatlands Plantation, Morven Park, Long Branch, and numerous other historical homes and gardens.

- "We visited Middleburg for a wedding and had a lovely stay at this property. It is a few miles down country roads through horse country. The hosts were very gracious and sweet. Happy Anniversary Karen & Rick!" - "A perfect picturesque getaway located on a lovely quiet farm just minutes away from great restaurants and shopping in very charming Middleburg. The cottage is cozy and inviting, quite spacious, and has several places to unwind with its 2 porches and 2 patios, all with wonderful views. - "We had to go to Leesburg for a funeral and stayed here. We had 6 adults and it was wonderful to have your own bathroom to get ready in, as well as a half bath if you had guests. Communication with the owner was awesome! He stayed in contact with us if we had any questions. My only complaint was not being able to spend more time on the property." - "My friends and I recently stayed here and had the absolute best time. The house itself is beautiful and clean, and the hosts are extremely friendly and thoughtful. The location of the house is perfect - within walking distance to the nearest winery, convenient driving distance to town with restaurants, and far enough removed from it all to make those mornings out on the porch sipping coffee the most idyllic and peaceful. - "We had an absolutely wonderful and peaceful stay at Yellowwood Cottage. The location is perfect, just a short drive from the town of Middleburg, but tucked away on a gorgeous rural road, perfect for walks or bike rides. The house is beautiful inside, with comfortable beds and furniture, a well stocked kitchen with quality dishes and bowls, etc, and a lovely deck overlooking the large yard where you can enjoy watching the sweet wildlife. Communication was easy, it was pristinely clean upon arrival, and the yard and trash were kept very tidy. We only used two of the bedrooms, but it is set up nicely with the four bedrooms being separated well, and all lovely. It was just perfect for our needs, and among the best VRBOs we have rented. We enthusiastically recommend Yellowood Cottage. Thank you, Missy, we loved our stay!"

- "The house is very nice, spacious, well laid out, and all the bedrooms are fine. The pool was a real asset, as it was hot. Providing shade in the pool area would be good, but I am not sure how; the tables are built for umbrellas, but I imagine they've been destroyed by bad weather, and would be hard to keep available. Location felt secluded, and the huge back yard is great for throwing frisbees, footballs, baseballs, even short wedge shots. Nice hike nearby, cute town and family friendly farm, brewery."

Very dog friendly - the fenced in yard with a closeable gate was a welcome perk - the dogs can run freely without straying into the nearby road. Will definitely come back in the fall to experience the fire pit and watch the leaves change color!" - "This place sets the standard for luxurious vacation renting! The decor was stunning and the entire house was carefully curated. We wanted for nothing and the beds were incredibly comfortable. We found paradise on Rectors Lane. Our best VRBO stay ever!"

Welcome to this unique mountain getaway in Bluemont, at the northern tip of the Blue Ridge mountains. The ~100 year old log cabin has been restored, yet leaves many of the original features like the open ceiling that showcases beams harvested from the mountain.
The Cabin (main room) has a good-sized addition that provides a full kitchen with new appliances, a full bathroom, a sitting room/den with a washer/dryer, and a cozy bedroom with a comfy queen bed and all linens. For added privacy, there is a separate driveway and parking space for 2 autos.
We are in eastern Clarke county, just over the Loudoun County border in Northwestern Virginia. In the heart of Virginia’s wine country, we are ~ 5 minutes from:
- Bluemont Vineyard, Dirt Farm Brewery, Great Country Farms, Bluemont Station Brewery and Winery, and Bear Chase Brewery.
- And within a 20-minute drive, you can reach these beautiful vineyards: Breaux, Tarara, Sunset Hills, Notaviva, Veramar, Chrysalis, Delaplane and many more.
Here you can be as busy as you want to be, or not.
- Hiking? Bear’s Den will lead you to the Appalachian Trail.
- Shopping? 20 minutes to the Leesburg Outlets. ~30 minutes to Middleburg or Millwood for antiques.
- Dining out? Many restaurants in Purcellville, Leesburg or Middleburg.
- History buff? Loudoun Museum, Morven Park, George C. Marshall Dodona Manor, Oatlands House and Gardens.
- Staying in? Snuggle up in front of the wood stove, enjoy the stars, watch DirecTV, sleep in peace.
And your family? Kids are welcome; there is one queen bed in the bedroom, and there are 2 inflatable twin mattresses available. One is 13" high for smaller children; the other is 18" high when inflated. Dogs are welcome, too but please only one and less than 50 pounds. It’s very important that your pup stay on lead when outside – there are many furry friends to chase, even for the best trained dog.
We have prepared lots of amenities to make your stay comfortable and memorable:
- Fully stocked kitchen with pots & pans, dishes, glasses, coffee, tea, creamer, sugar
- Pillow top queen bed, sheets, pillows, comforters
- Bath towels, soaps, hair dryer
- New propane grill
- New patio table w/4 chairs and umbrella
For guests interested in staying during the week please note: During October through December this year it is difficult for me to accommodate guests arriving Monday through Wednesdays. If you are interested in those days please send an inquiry and I will do my best to accommodate your plans. Thank you for your understanding.
Enjoy your stay in our little Cabin in Bluemont!

- "Great location for wine lovers. Cute, updated old home. Needs new windows to block constant sound of traffic." - "We had a wonderful weekend at Mosby Manor II. The house was very clean and comfortable. Close to Middleburg and many nearby vineyards, breweries and attractions. Check-in and check-out was very easy, and Dawood was an excellent host - easy to communicate with and quick to respond. Would definitely stay again." - "Wonderful spot convenient to Middleburg and all attractions of the area. I intentionally gave a less than perfect score to the question about "accuracy of the listing" because there are wonderful aspects of this listing that are not mentioned. Even though this house abuts a rather busy road, it also sits right next to expansive vineyards and a winery! Also, across the street is a country road that winds through miles of horse farms -- perfect for a leisurely and restorative bike ride or walk. More to this rental than meets the eye, and what meets the eye is quite pleasant!"

Ramble through quaint Purcellville, pass farmland and mountain views and you will come to our quiet and beautiful Highland Home. It is tucked back in the middle of a cow farm with rolling hill views and cattle grazing. Sit on the expansive deck or at the large kitchen table with a cup of hot tea or coffee made from our hot beverage bar(teas imported from London) and gaze at the large oaks and cows grazing on the hillside. It is peace at its best. Step out front and watch the sunset over the distant mountains and then once night falls watch the night sky. The stars are so bright because of the lack of city lights.
The kitchen is stocked for all your cooking needs. Towels, linens, toilet paper, paper towels, shampoo, conditioner, bath gel, laundry soap, dish soap, napkins, and kitchen towels are all provided. There are three charming bedrooms on the first floor and two full bathrooms. The master has a walk in shower and tv. There is a living room on each level with large tv's and seating. In the bottom level living area, you can find a foosball table, drink machine, a double bed, desk and chair, board games and children's toys. The laundry room is on the bottom level.
Outside you will find a woodburning stove, chairs, firewood and iron pot. The iron pot is for you to warm your beverage, stew, or soup and have an outside picnic. If you keep the doors open to the woodburning stove, you can make smores, roast hotdogs and toast marshmallows while sitting around the rip roaring fire. This is a wonderful way to make memories!!
Take a stroll around the property or down to the nearby stream. Visit a Western Loudoun local winery or brewery which will help you capture the areas beauty. Unique shops, cafes, and restaurants are within minutes of our home. I am happy to assist you with ideas and locations to visit while you stay.

The house was beautiful and it was a breath of fresh air to have a fully stocked kitchen and bathroom. (great shampoo and soap; sometimes it's the little things) The host was wonderful and even worked with me when we had to extend our stay for two more days. She even provided us with farm-fresh eggs and local muffins. (the kids loved them) If you are in VA and need a modern relaxing location this is the place for you."

- "My family and I just spent a very long weekend at this property. We found there was plenty of space. The kitchen was well appointed—everything we wanted was there. There were enough sofas for each of us to have two to ourselves! The grounds are beautiful and we enjoyed watching the deer frolic about. We did note there were some items that could use some TLC to make the property really shine, but we didn’t let it affect our stay. Finally, Paul was very responsive and a pleasure to work with."

- "Property was beautiful and just as described, wish we could have stayed longer." - "This is a beautiful property and we had a great stay. Kristin was fantastic and super responsive on any questions. The property grounds are beautiful and the house has everything you would need for a comfortable stay. Would definitely recommend this property and would stay there again." - "We stayed at this beautiful property for an annual friends weekend, to coincide with “Christmas in Middleburg”. The owner was very communicative over text, provided a comprehensive and very useful guide for staying at the house, and proactively provided recommendations for things to do while in town. The dining area was perfect for our “family dinners” and the living room area was a comfortable space to settle in and hang out for the night. We used the hot tub, which was very spacious and worked great. Only about a 30 minute drive to Middleburg and plenty of winery options in the area. The only (slight) inconvenience was only one full bathroom for the three upstairs bedrooms (two full bedrooms and the room with a pullout couch) to share. But we made it work fine. Would definitely recommend this for a future stay."

Come to the Blue Ridge Mountains and refresh your spirit! Our vintage farmhouse is in the heart of Virginia’s wine country, minutes from vineyards, breweries and wedding venues. Enjoy our local wines on the back deck watching spectacular sunsets and wait for the stars to light up the sky. Walk to the Appalachian Trail from the Bear’s Den trailhead one mile away. Play in the Shenandoah River a few minutes away. Middleburg, Purcellville, Leesburg and Civil War sites nearby.
As you travel up the mountain on our Scenic Virginia Byway, you start to see the stacked stone walls from the Revolutionary War era. You’ve entered the Bear’s Den Historic District, 1900’s era homes built as summer retreats for Washingtonians escaping the summer heat. The Bluemont train carried them out of the city where they were met at the station by horse drawn wagons to take them up the mountain. Bishop’s Gate was built in 1910 as the parsonage for the bishop who ran the neighboring church. The charming cottage was restored in 2018 by the owners who live on the adjacent property. The house is thoroughly updated while staying true to its original form. Original heart pine floors, bead board walls and original furnishings offer lots of charm. All kitchen supplies (including coffee for the Keurig coffeemaker) are included. Online work or school with reliable internet. Games, puzzles, books and a record player are available.
The screened porch, complete with porch swing and rockers, is surrounded by mature boxwoods- perfect nesting sites for the songbirds that welcome you. Under the bistro lights on the back deck, a table for outside dining seats six and Adirondack chairs overlook the fire pit and barn. The rope swing in the 200 year old tulip poplar tree delights all ages.
We are situated on 20 wooded acres perfect for getting kids in touch with nature and off screens!
S’mores supplies provided for the outdoor fire pit and all firewood is provided. Charcoal for the grill is also provided. Winter weather advisory: weather on the mountain is very unpredictable, you will need 4 wheel drive or chains. The driveway is 400 feet down the mountain and ice makes it very difficult driving.
One hour from D.C half an hour from Dulles.

And Marcia was very communicative and lovely." - "We had a wonderful stay in Bluemont! The location is very conveniently located to take advantage of everything that Bluemont and Purcellville have to offer. We thoroughly enjoyed our time at the house and around town. Location was even better than expected with brewery a couple hundred yards down the road and grocery store about 10 minutes away. Would def come back!" - "We had the best time at the Bluemont estate. We were visiting some local friends over the 4th and couldn’t have asked for a better location and house. The house is right next to bear chase brewing company which was great for adults and kids and very fun on the 4th of July. The house has so many beds and bedrooms, and all of them are furnished nicely with comfortable beds. The host was very kind as well. We had a wonderful time and would definitely visit again"

- "We had a wonderful stay at the house. The whole experience delivered exactly what we needed - close proximity to wineries, easy to booking and communication with owners, cute and cozy inside, and a bottle of wine in the kitchen upon arrival! Pictures of the place were wonderfully accurate and loved being surrounded by nature. Perfect getaway for our first time in Bluemont. Easy drive from DC. Would definitely stay here again!" - "We had a wonderful stay and thank you for being a great host, Cassie! The house was perfect for our group of 8 (4 adults & 4 kids). The beds were comfortable and the kitchen had all of the supplies we needed. The firepit was a lot of fun and we also had a great time watching old DVDs! The house is in close proximity to vineyards and if you have kids, I suggest going to the Great Country Farms. I’m looking forward to coming back with my husband for a romantic getaway!"

Other things to note
SAFE, PRIVATE RETREAT for responsible single or couple(extra fee).
This is the Blue Ridge mountains so guests should be prepared to encounter wildlife of all kinds. We have the house environmentally treated regularly so it is rare that we see anything inside, but always possible. Occasionally seasonal insects may be found inside, or groundhog, fox or raccoon, bear, snake or deer outside. They are shy and don't want to encounter you and if they hear you, will run away. Nature has its seasons so you will hear and see many things at different times of the year including birds, (Check your Merlin app!) tree frog symphonies, cicadas, crickets, spiders, stink bugs, ladybugs etc. We do not usually have mosquitoes thankfully. We have had bears swimming in the pool and to dissuade them we have installed an electrified fence. This can be turned off and on by guests when using the pool.
Winter can be a wonderland. Guests should be prepared to walk through snow. The driveway might not be accessible without a 4WD or AWD vehicle depending on who else may be in residence and whether the drive has been cleared. We are not normally in residence in winter. **Plowing can be arranged at guest expense, shared if other person is sharing the house including the owner.
Power outages while rare, can occur so water should be kept at all times. Our power lines are buried so we are only subject to area wide outages.
*Firearms are not permitted on the property and would be cause for immediate removal and termination of guest stay. No smoking. Trash must be deposited in the secure shed at top of driveway Sunday evening for Monday morning pick up. food garbage should never be left in the shed during the week as bears and raccoons will definitely find it!

In the middle of VA wine country and only minutes from the Appalachian Trail, enjoy a private apartment in our mountain home with a separate entrance and your own deck with views of the Shenandoah Valley. There is a hot tub on the deck and a fire pit overlooking the valley. Plenty of wildlife. A welcome basket includes breakfast items.
The space
Our home is on a peaceful 10-acre mountain retreat in the middle of the woods. Since we are located on a higher elevation temperatures can average 6 to 8 degrees cooler than the surrounding area.
The apartment has a Mini Fridge, Microwave, Electric Kettle, Drip Coffee Maker, and ROKU TV for your use.
We recently opened (Jan 2020) an additional private guesthouse on our property. The guesthouse is a larger space in a detached building with a full kitchen and separate bedroom. It is listed on Airbnb as Skyhourse Retreat Guest House.
Winter Note: The higher elevation also means ice and snow are much longer here than in the valley. While we are constantly clearing the deck, stairs, and road, we have no control over Mother Nature and cannot guarantee that the area is free of ice and snow. In particularly snowy weather, we may advise that you will need a four-wheel or all-wheel drive vehicle.
Internet Note: We cannot guarantee that the internet will be up and running 100% of the time due to the nature of the point-to-point wireless connection with the ISP. Strong winds often knock the ISP towers out of calibration, and the company is not the fastest to respond.
Guest access
You have access to a private deck and hot tub with phenomenal views of the Shenandoah Valley. There is also a fire pit, with plenty of firewood and kindling, for you to use if you would like to sit outside in the evening.
Other things to note
We Will Not Accept A Reservation Without A Current Unaltered Picture Of The Person Making The Request In Their Profile.
We are located a short distance from the Appalachian Trail and numerous wineries, breweries & distilleries.

Rent this private and cozy cottage, converted from a 200 year old bank barn, located on Goose Creek and minutes away from Middleburg town. The cottage has been remodeled to offer all the essentials you would want for a perfect weekend getaway.
The space
Being an interior designer from Belgium, I've tried to furnish the cottage with a clean country feel, that is warm and inviting. It's not what you will find typically in the Middleburg area, as it has a more European feel to it, but it has been completely remodeled and offers everything you would need as if you were staying at a boutique hotel with a kitchen. Comfortable bed with feather duvet, darkening roman shades, hardwood floor, full kitchen including dishwasher and microwave a rain shower in the bathroom and a big screen TV with comfortable seating in the living room. This cottage is on the same location as the listing on airbnb called Hunters Retreat.
Guest access
There is parking right in front of the cottage, from time to time you may see our horses when we are staying in the main house. Feel free to walk down the path to goose Creek for a nice nature walk or bring a picnic. In summer, you will also be able to enjoy a nice cocktail on the lounge chairs on the deck overlooking our neighbour's pastures or have dinner outside as there's also a dining table with two chairs . The cottage is on our private road so there will be no traffic when you are there.
Other things to note
I've put a lot of love into the cottage, we hope you enjoy and leave it as you found it. Please check back on the site as we also have other properties available in Georgetown DC and Ibiza Spain .

Natural light filled fully equipped kitchen with full size appliances. King bed (very comfortable per guest reviews), full bath and a very spacious living room with 70" tv or movie screen...you choose! We have super fast Verizon Fios. Not your typical basement. Country living!!! There are many vineyards less than 10 minutes away…happy to make recommendations.
The space
You have your own dedicate parking area and direct walk-in access to the basement. No steps to enter the space. You likely drove past our family farm on your way in. While the house is brand new, many of the items in the space are family heirlooms since we have lived on this land for many generations (back to the 1700's). Other family members live on the lane so you are in good company.
When it comes to safety, there are solar lights along the stone wall at the parking area and an outside light by the entrance. We check to make sure the first aid kit is stocked (in the bathroom drawer). There are two fire extinguishers handy (kitchen and bedroom). There are two smoke detectors, one of which is a WiFi Nest alert smoke/co2 detector in the space. The space is thoroughly cleaned between each guest. This has been our setup from the beginning!
Guest access
The basement is all yours. It is large and open. Please note that we only allow two guests, both during the day and of course as part of the nightly accommodations. No other guests are allowed.
Other things to note
We have a gluten free (celiac) daughter so we can assist with insight with local restaurants should there be a gluten food allergy such as this. The location is ideal being an hour from D.C., 25 min from Dulles airport and minutes from many Wineries and breweries!

Saddletrees are the most important aspect of a saddle. They are the understructure providing horse and rider balance and deliver a comfortable, relaxed riding experience. Likewise, it is our wish that Saddle Tree loft is the foundation of your balance-restoring, comfortable, cozy, countryside-getaway.
Saddle Tree is an airy loft apartment with private entrance above our barn with views of the pastures, pond, woods and rolling hills of Loudoun County.
The space
There is a King-sized bed, living area and a partial wall that provides privacy to the bed area while not blocking daylight. The loft was professionally designed with a pleasing mix of industrial and rustic elements. Exposed beams and duct work draw your eyes to the high ceiling where hidden lights create a cozy glow throughout at night. Outdoor, you can also enjoy the propane fire pit and chairs for watching horses, goats or geese and relaxing as the sun sets behind the pond and trees. Close to nature, horse events, gravel roads for bike rides, wineries, breweries, distilleries; Saddle Tree is a getaway only as active as you want it to be. A perfect place to unplug and unwind. WiFi and TV cable/satellite service are not available. If you want to access the internet or stream content on the provided TV, bring a hotspot. Internet in our rural countryside is challenging even with a hotspot. You must climb stairs: the bathroom is on the entrance floor; the living area is in the loft upstairs.
