Guest Reviews:

- "It was ok. For starters, there is not heat. There is no fireplace, even though it states there is one. There is an electric, space heater on the wall Difficult to find the place, as there is no address sign, and the road is very dark. Interior is less than finished. The bathroom door isn’t tall enough for the opening, and there is a gap at the top when it’s closed. One bedroom doesn’t have a doorknob. Privacy is lacking, overall. Outside fire pit lights turned off at 9pm on their own. This was annoying since we wanted to stay out there. "

Pintals Wilderness Cabin
Cabin
Carp Lake, Michigan, USA

This sweet little cabin is located within Wilderness State Park. It sits on 13 acres and located across the road from Lake Michigan. It has 1 bath and sleeps up to 4.

This gem of a cabin was just constructed in 2017. It is privately owned and sits on 13 beautiful acres in Wilderness State Park near Mackinaw City and is directly across the road from Lake Michigan. It sits on a hill and has wonderful views of the Big Stone Bay. There is a large deck overlooking the Bay and offers ample opportunity to view the variety of wildlife here. Watch the eagles, osprey, loons, deer, fox, coyote, bobcat and maybe you'll be lucky enough to spot a bear. The park offers miles of hiking, biking, snowshoeing and cross country ski trails. The bay is perfect for kayaking, canoeing, sailing, fishing or just enjoying a leisurely swim. Wilderness is just completing a "day park" a short distance away that has a wonderful sandy beach, bathroom facilities and lots of sunshine! The water is crystal clear and the Lake has a nice, sandy bottom that is shallow for quite a distance. It makes for great beach time with the kids.

The cabin comes complete with dishes, pots and pans, silverware and cooking utensils. There is a toaster, coffee pot, electric oven/stove, griddle, microwave and full size refrigerator. There are 2 large ceiling fans for warm days but there is generally a nice breeze. There is also a gas grill/propane provided for you use as well as a picnic table for outdoor dining.

The cabin has 1 bedroom with twin beds, a queen size sleeper sofa in the living area and lots of windows to let in the light. The cabin is bright and cheery with views of the surrounding area from every room.

We encourage you to bring your boat, kayaks, canoes, bikes or other outdoor "toys" for your pleasure. The Wilderness Park boat launch is across the road for putting in and plenty of parking on the property for your boat/trailer. If you will be using the boat launch, or using any Wilderness Park facilities, you will need to purchase a park pass at the Rangers Station which will give you access to the park and it's services.

There is a great general store (Cecil Bay Trading Post) a few miles away and the closest Grocery Store, gas station, and shopping is in Mackinaw City, about 20 minutes away.

If you are interested in visiting some of the local areas, the cabin is a short drive (within 30 minutes) to Mackinaw City, Mackinac Island, Carp Lake, Alanson, Petoskey, Good Hart, Cross Village, Harbor Springs and Indian River. Everything from fine dining to roadside cafe's, lots of antiquing, breweries, wineries, golf, sailing - the list goes on and on! Once you visit, you'll be hooked. This is a place you'll want to come back to year after year. We look forward to hosting you!

*We have opted to offer Damage Insurance at the cost of $55 for your stay in lieu of a refundable security deposit. It will be listed under fees as "Damage Insurance".

*WILDLIFE DISCLAIMER*

Coming to beautiful Northern Michigan includes the possibility of wildlife encounters. We have midges, spiders, mosquitos, occasionally black flies and an assortment of other insects. We spray regularly to keep them at a manageble level but we also don't want to damage the fragile ecosystem here. Note that where there is water, there will be spiders. They are very industrious and can build back a knocked down web within a day!
They are also great for controlling mosquitos and wasps, which we appreciate.

We treasure the wildness of the North and perhaps that is what attracts you.

Consider yourself lucky if you catch a glimpse of any of our other wild neighbors - black bear, wolves, deer, elk, coyote, fox, bobcats, porcupine, skunks, raccoons, eagles, hawks, squirrels, chipmunks and mice as well as a massive variety of birds.

We ask you to consider this before booking one of our cottages or cabins.

The presence of wildlife is part of the experience here and does not warrant a refund.

AMENITIES NOTES: Coin laundry is nearby, not on site.

Cabin #1 - "Chickagami"
Cabin
Carp Lake, Michigan, USA

Cabin #1 - "Chickagami"
A Native American word meaning “camp by the lake.” Chickagami is a fitting name for this 431 sq ft cabin, one of the first built in 1929 along the lakeshore of this small vintage resort currently known as Lakeside Cabins.

This Vintage Rustic cabin, primarily designed for the camping & fishing enthusiast, is just one cabin of a 7 cabin resort. This cabin was built in the late 1920's and holds every bit of that vintage character. It may be a little rough around the edges but this authentic cabin holds the wonderful allure of days gone by. Electrical outlets would have been added a few years later and those are few and far between. Those details won't matter to the outdoorsy kind coming for the camping experience where lake activity fills your day and evenings are enjoyed around the campfire. This charming cabin has a knotty pine interior and all the basics to create an Up North camping style atmosphere. A lifestyle one will appreciate becoming acquainted with.

All the cabins are lined up next to each other along the shore of a beautifully serene lake. This close proximity to other cabins have traditionally created a friendly community style atmosphere where guests mingle and create lasting friendships. This is the kind of place where your grandparents brought your parents, your parent’s brought you, and you are now bringing your children to create beautiful memories while spending a nostalgic vacation in a familiar old cabin.

The listed rate reflects the price for 4 adults or a family with children up to 6 people total. Additional adults beyond 4 will incur additional charges. This cabin has a sleeping capacity up to 6 people utilizing 2 bedrooms, each with a queen size bed and a futon in the living room. There is 1 electrical outlet next to the bed in one of the bedrooms, the other bedroom does not have an electrical outlet. Other electrical outlets are minimally located throughout the cabin. This cabin has a kitchen with everything to cover your basic needs, a dinning space and a simple bathroom that includes a warm shower. The spacious 13'x7' enclosed porch overlooking the lake is the perfect place to enjoy your coffee and watch the morning sunrise.

Whether you are looking for a home base to camp at the lake or a base camp while you explore the area’s attractions, you will enjoy this cozy cabin and all its imperfections. More than anything, you’re gonna love the authentic charm and the carefree lifestyle that comes with camping Up North.

Pets are welcome on the property for an additional fee of $25 per night / per pet, paid at time of arrival if not otherwise paid. This includes pets of your visitors to the property.

Free Parking is available for 1 vehicle per cabin. 1 boat/trailer per cabin is also free but are required to be parked in designated area elsewhere on the property. - "Really good location. Right on Carp Lake where you can view some great sunsets. Also a short drive to Wilderness State Park. Cabin was super nice and even had wifi and a smart TV. It was a perfect place for guy’s weekend. The owner Ritchie was very nice. Would recommend like others have said to bring extension cords or power strips if you think you’ll be using them as outlets are limited. But we really enjoyed our stay and will most likely be back."

- "We enjoyed our stay very much. The cabin is adorable and just as pictured. Management was friendly and helpful when we called. We had a couple of minor issues with things not being quite as sturdy as we would have liked, and the pull out bed was very uncomfortable, but all of the amenities were there and the overall property is nice. The community lodge is a cool addition, as are the fire pits and the play area for children. The path to the lake appears newly updated and sturdy, but it's not really a place we would want to spend time. Thank you for a lovely vacation."

- "The family enjoyed the cabin. Check in was simple with just a phone call. All we had to do was make ourself at home as soon as we walked in. Cabin was clean and they had any toy the kids wanted. Beach was relaxing with room for the family to swim. I would recommend to anybody that is interested in roughing the great north woods with it not being to rough. No AC but the lake breeze kept us cool." - "Great place with friendly people." - "I was grateful I could bring my dogs, however there was no heat they only provided a couple space heaters. They only provide sheets and towels if you request them."

- "This is a cute little cabin that overlooks Carp lake. The views are stunning and they have stairs to a dock on the water. Of the cabins offered this is the only one with unobstructed views of the lake from the screened in porch. Below are some things to note that weren’t real obvious from the description. 1. There is a firepit 2. Sleeps 4 comfortably. 3. Hide-a-bed older and broken but usable. 4. Linens not included in price but pretty much everything else is. 5. Shower is very very small and in one of the bedrooms. 6. Gas stove and heater. 7. Very limited parking but management tries to work with you. We tried Lighthouse Harbor restaurant down the road. Worth every penny. Homestyle cooking at its best. "

The cabin has 1 bedroom with twin beds, a (queen) sleeper sofa that sleeps an additional 2, beautiful hardwood floors, dining table/chairs, an extra wide shower in the bathroom and a nicely equipped kitchen and lots of windows to let in the light.

If you will be using the boat launch, you will need to purchase a park pass at the Rangers Station which will give you access to the park and it's services.

There is a great general store a few miles away but the closest Grocery Store, gas station, and shopping is in Mackinaw City, about 20 minutes away.
