This spacious urban dwelling is steeped in history, as is our charming and entirely f-l-a-t + walkable neighborhood. The home dates to the 1860s when it was likely built to house craftsmen involved in the building of the architecturally significant Roebling Suspension Bridge, the prototype for The Brooklyn Bridge. It is thought that John Roebling himself might have designed this property.

In 2007: top-to-bottom, wall-to-wall renovations resulted in '2008 River Cities Preservation' and '2008 Friends of Covington Beautification' awards. A three story 'flying' staircase, scale, contemporary upgrades and location yield both character and comfort. Here, history and modernity are not to be confused with rigidity: put your feet up and bring your dog! There's a decidedly down-home feel with an up-town vibe.

Our home is located in the historic neighborhood, Old Seminary Square, in NKY . We are conveniently located app 20minutes from CVG Airport and Cincinnati ! We are conveniently located near Cincinnati Zoo, Great American Ball Park, Cincinnati Art Museum, and History Museum , and many other venues! We are within walking distance to many shops and restaurants. The suite is the entire first floor, in our historic home! We do provide a large air mattress, if you have more than two guests. There is also a couch that guests are welcome to sleep on. We have one king size bed in the bedroom, with a door, for privacy.

The Space

Each room has a memory foam/hybrid, queen sized bed and curtains for a perfect nights sleep.
Feel at home with a fully furnished kitchen and spacious dining room to share a home cooked meal!
The living room is very inviting with a beautiful fire place(not active), cozy couch, and french doors for privacy. There's a fold down mattress in the front bedroom closet that can sleep one, while the couch can sleep another guest.
The bathroom is located in between the bedrooms and off of the kitchen and dining room area.
Includes high speed wifi, smart tv in the living room, numerous board games for endless entertainment, and a communal bookshelf with numerous great reads!
Street parking is available except Tuesday mornings from 8AM-10AM for street cleaning.

The Neighborhood

Founded in 1815, Covington has been a staple neighborhood of the Cincinnati area. Heavily influenced by German immigrants in the mid 1800's, the city has preserved its German heritage while maintaining the charm that has beckoned its citizens since its foundation. Centrally located, Covington is a 5 minute drive to downtown and Newport and a 15 minute drive to CVG Airport. Conveniently located 2 blocks away from Covington's Wedding District and Hotel Covington. There are numerous bars and restaurants along Madison Avenue to keep you well fed and entertained.
The historic Mainstrasse Village is a 10 minute walk and sure to entertain with its bountiful shops, restaurants, bars and park.
Devou park offers beautiful hiking trails and one of the best views of the city, and is a 10 minute drive.
Paul Brown Stadium and Great American Ball Park are a 20 minute walk across the iconic Roebling Bridge.
Be sure to visit Over The Rhine, Cincinnati's vibrant historic neighborhood. Believed to be the largest continuous historic neighborhood in the US, OTR has the largest concentration of Italianate Architecture. It's also the entertainment Mecca of Cincinnati.

Getting Around

Most of the area is walkable, but there are numerous other options. Uber and Lyft are very common, in addition to a golf cart service called Gest. Gest offers free rides(tip your driver!) throughout the city, and can be hailed through their app. There is also a shuttle service between Covington, Cincinnati and Newport called the Southbank Shuttle. Rides are $1/per trip and have numerous stations in the area.

My girlfriend and I live on the third floor unit of the house and are available for any questions, recommendations or concerns. We love sharing what Covington and Cincinnati has to offer, so please don't hesitate to ask for recommendations or help.

Things to Know

We do have security cameras on the entrance to each door on the house. They are all located outside and run 24/7.
There are 5 stairs to get into the unit and the door has a keyless lock with a unique code shared upon booking.
We are located in the city and there will be city sounds such as trash collection and emergency vehicles. We are tucked away on a quiet street but those sounds will still happen on occasion.
Price per night includes up to 4 guests. We do have a couch in the living room that can sleep one, and a fold down mattress in the front bedroom closet that can sleep an additional guest. If you want to add additional guests(2 max for a total of 6 people in the unit), it's $10 per guest.

If you think you may have more than 6 guests or would like additional room, we do have a studio space for rent on the third floor of this house. It sleeps 3 and has separate access at the rear of the house. Please see the link:

House Rules

Guests book with us for a clean, quiet and comfortable travel stay, not to hear other guests hosting a loud group, party or event. We do everything in our power to ensure this for all guests.

Without exception, NO SMOKING, VAPING, MARIJUANA USAGE!! Do not think it can be covered up, it cannot. We must extensively clean to remove it before other guests arrive. Smoking inside requires a $100 minimum service fee to which you agree by accepting our house rules at the time of booking. We have a nice front porch for our TOBACCO smoking guests. You'll just need to police your butts. THANK YOU!

No shoes in the house. We have a shoe rack when you enter for leaving them in.

Wash your dishes. We’re happy to put them away if they’re still drying. If you don’t wish to wash your dishes, were happy to wash them for an additional fee.

Quiet hours 11pm-8am.

No hair coloring processes, it stains our bathroom fixtures and linens.

No tape on the walls or furniture, it removes paint.

All guests must have a working cellphone during the stay to access 911 in the event of an emergency and to communicate with us via the VRBO app.

We do not have child safety features, children are welcome if you accept liability and are comfortable knowing we have no child proofing along with many stairs.

Minors under the age of 18 must always be accompanied, in person, by an adult over 21. You must be 21 to book a reservation at our place.

Our property may not be used in the making or production or filming or recording of ANY productions including, but not limited to: music videos, pornography, movies, paid YouTube/online video accounts, etc.

NO PARTIES or EVENTS! Only the number of guests booked in your reservation are permitted to be in our place. A growing number of guests are booking VRBO's with the intent of hosting a party or a sleepover for minors or other group event. We know our neighbors and live upstairs. Your party absolutely will be noticed. You will be removed from the property immediately.

In the event a hosted event is shut down with police assistance, you will pay a $250 fee to which you agree by accepting our house rules at the time of booking. Without police assistance, the fee is $150. If damages are incurred those additional fees will be added as required. $100 of the fee collected with officer assistance will be donated to the Covington Police Department or one of their department sponsored community efforts for the negative impact on the community and our immediate neighbors.

Enjoy your home away from home in this historic home. This location is minutes away from MainStrasse entertainment district's restaurants, bars and boutiques. I am blocks away from the Ohio river. Walks along the river give you beautiful views of Cincinnati and make it convenient to reach its many dining, sporting museums and other cultural attractions. The Space:
As you step into this room and are surrounded by vintage details, blacks and golds, and industrial touches, we hope you’re reminded of the everyday life of merchants and factory workers post-industrial revolution. The history of this building has been uniquely woven into every detail of the design of each room. At different points in time, it was a soft drink factory, a pickle factory, and one of the first African-American Odd Fellows lodges. The original owner was Henry Wenzel, a successful businessperson and the reason for the name of this specific room.
Two bedrooms with queen beds, two full bathrooms, large windows with natural light, individual living areas with TVs, wifi, etc. One kitchenette inside the Wenzel Mod. The Wenzel Luxe and Wenzel Mod rooms are connected by a locked door.

Guest Access:
Guest will receive door codes to the building and their rooms via email after booking and signing our terms and agreement policy. Access to the apartment is limited only to registered guests. Any visitors must be approved by the host and may not stay overnight.
We require all guests to sign our rental agreement and provide photo ID via the digital form before check-in instructions will be sent. Check-in info is sent 5 days prior to check-in, assuming completion of the rental agreement.

Most things are in walking distance. If driving, there is one parking spot per your reservation or garage parking at the Midtown Parking Garage, also known as the 5th Street Parking. Extra guests can walk down Electric Alley until they see the building on the left hand side.

- "This property was better than the listing described. It was very clean and very comfortable. Was concerned about our dogs bothered by possible street and neighborhood noises (tract tracks at the corner, churches and medical facilities close by), but they were pretty comfortable and quiet in this home. From the prettiest front porch on the block to the new, tall fencing in the backyard, this property felt safe and secure. A representative texted before we arrived so that we had personal contact in case of questions or issues. All supplies (towels, kitchenware, etc) were available and easy to find, everything was in good repair. The rooms were spacious, including a big main bathroom, and durably, but tastefully decorated. Seemed very kid-friendly, with lots of games, crayons and even toddler plates and utensils. Would have loved to sit out in the adorable backyard patio area, but the weather was too uncooperative. Overall, a lovely property and we were really pleased to be able to stay here. Two travel tips: The neighborhood was built before garages were used, so there is only street parking. We parked at the corner, but the neighborhood was fine even at night. Also, being an older home, there are minimal outlets in the rooms, so device charging and hair styling was a tiny challenge."

A large dresser and closet provide ample storage, and all linens, sheets, and blankets are included for your convenience.

Kitchen:
Fully equipped for hassle-free meal prep, the kitchen boasts original wood cabinetry and everything you need: a stove, microwave, coffee maker, air popcorn popper, and pots, pans, dishes, utensils, and more. Guests have full access to Unit 3, a private, fully furnished studio apartment located on the second floor of a charming 1960s-era quadplex.
To access the unit, guests will use a private exterior entry that leads to a shared stairwell. At the top of the stairs, you’ll find the doors to Unit 3 and another apartment (Unit 4). Your unit’s door will be clearly marked for easy identification, ensuring privacy and convenience.

In addition to the apartment, guests have access to the shared, coin-operated washer and dryer located in the basement of the building. The laundry area is easily accessible via an interior stairwell and is shared with other tenants in the quadplex.

Guests are also welcome to enjoy the small, partially fenced-in backyard.

Parking is street parking only and located on the north side of East Martin Luther King Junior Boulevard. Guests will need to cross the road to access the quadplex on the south side.

Other things to note
All the tenants in this quadplex, as well as their pets, are quiet and respectful, making for a peaceful living environment. A quiet tenant would be an excellent match for this setting and is much appreciated by everyone in the building.

Despite the busy road and close neighbors, Unit 3 is tucked away at the back of the building, offering a surprisingly peaceful and quiet retreat, sheltered from the sounds of traffic. This unique setup provides the best of both worlds—urban convenience with a tranquil living space.

Heating and Air
Unit 3 is equipped to keep you comfortable throughout the year. The building features the original radiator heating system, which provides steady warmth during the colder months. The heat is turned on in late fall and turned off in early spring, depending on the weather. For added convenience, a space heater is also provided, ensuring extra comfort if needed.

While there is no central air, a large window air conditioner is installed during the summer months to keep the unit cool and comfortable. A building boiler heater keeps the all the units heated in the winter time via radiator heat. These thoughtful features are designed to ensure you feel right at home, no matter the season.

The space
Our home is a big brick Italianate built in 1894. We have many of the original details, and are slowly working to bring back more of those historic details.

Our small yard is a mess. We just moved in over the winter so haven’t had a chance to do anything to the outside. Please forgive us!

Please remember that we live here. We clean daily and try hard to be guest-ready at any moment, but it is our home and we do have many guests (and children). It is highly likely that you’ll encounter something not quite Airbnb ready, such as a backpack on the floor after school, a dirty dish in the sink, etc. We aim to feel like a really clean friend’s house more than a hotel.

The property is a large historic white with black accented 3-Family building. Covington Comfort is located on the 3rd floor; accessed through a shared staircase. Each unit has its own custom key code to a primary front entry door as well as each individual unit.

Kitchen: Stainless steel appliances, gas stove (please review how to operate a gas stove if you’ve never used one before), all essential kitchen items for 3-4 people. Small table with 2 chairs.

Living Room: Leather sleeper sofa (queen size), mid sized arm chair, coffee table and 50’ Samsung TV.

Bathroom: Approx. 40 sq ft, custom designed to maximize the space, fog free mirror with built in LED light. PLEASE TAKE NOTE: slightly turn shower handle for hot water…the more you turn it the colder it will be.

I love this apartment because it is so close to the park and all its great hiking. It is convenient for getting to the expressway and downtown Cincy and Covington as well as the entertainment districts. I also love the feeling of being in the treetops and the views when there are no leaves are fantastic of the City scape.

As you enter the Eagles Nest, you'll enter the attic coziness and find a large bedroom up front with space to study, do you yoga, or just take a great nap in the queen bed! To the other side, you'll find an exposed-brick kitchen and living area, plus a lovely bathroom with subway tile and a rain shower/shower sprayer combo for a luxurious cleansing whenever you'd like!

Plus, you'll find all the little things to make a short stay or a longer one feel like home with a nice view of Cincinnati and Reds fireworks!

Entire apartment, on the third floor attic of an early-1900’s renovated building with a separate apartment on each. It is an historic walk-up access apartment with two flights of stairs.

Other things to note
Parking is free on the street in front of the apartment and pretty easy to find. You can even park in front of the curb cut in front of the building.
