Under a 2-hour drive from New York City with skiing at Big Bear close by, not far from Milford, PA, and Bethel Woods Arts & Concert venue (home of the original Woodstock festival) and Resorts World Casino. Close to the Forestburgh Playhouse & local arts venues, antiquing, Minisink Battlefield, Fort Delaware, Barryville & scenic Route 97 that runs alongside the protected Delaware River. Many inns and restaurants are found in a string of villages such as Barryville, Milford, Narrowsburg, and Callicoon.

In addition to being on a lakefront there is easy access to other lakes, streams, for hiking, fishing, river rafting, zip-lining, tubing, canoeing, horseback riding, and in the colder weather, skating and ice fishing off private dock plus snowboarding and tobogganing on the gently sloping area on huge private lawn.

This roomy lakefront retreat is a custom contemporary, energy-conserving, 3 storey cedar post and beam which is bright and light-filled and is situated on almost two park-like acres, with its private dock/beachfront on the sandy-bottomed lake (great for swimming, boating, and or fishing.)

House has multiple indoor/outdoor seating areas, a sunroom, a fireplace with wood burning stove insert along with electrical baseboard heating, Cable TV, wifi, security system, smoke detector, carbon monoxide detector, fire extinguisher, first aid kit plus fully equipped, up to date kitchen with stainless steel appliances, fridge has ice maker & water filter, whole house water filter, ceramic range top, wall oven, microwave, toaster, keurig coffee maker, drip coffee maker, and washer/dryer/ironing facilities in separate laundry area on the ground floor.

As we are energy-conserving (passive solar heat) the house is cooled with cross ventilation and great breezes from across the lake as well as huge ceiling fans (plus a huge mini split ac/heating unit on the main floor that cools/heats the entire ground floor and also benefits the 2nd floor bedrooms).

The kitchen has a breakfast bar that flows into the large dining area with a table that expands to seat ten, then flows into a living area with a cathedral ceiling, wood beams, skylights, wood-burning stove plus a spectacular lake view through the entire lakeside's glass wall.

There is a separate den with seating and a sun room that has a nice table to enjoy breakfast while watching the butterflies flit past the windows while enjoying the cross breezes coming through the door to the (lakeside deck.)

The fully finished semi-basement has a comfortable seating area/large play areas and a 60' screen for playing videos, DVDs, or gaming systems.

There is a large outdoor table on the side porch with a market umbrella that seats eight, a lakeside table with a market umbrella that seats four (we sit here for breakfast while watching the hummingbirds at the feeder.) There is an additional bistro table that seats two plus two cozy, armchairs with a drinks table. Under a shade tree down by the dock, there is a large table that seats four - plus additional captains chairs and benches seating.

Outdoor space - has multiple seating areas perfect for reading, eating, entertaining, meditating, or practicing yoga. The huge lawn is peaceful with ample room for games while others in your party may find a nice quiet space to just enjoy nature.

There is a private dock and beach on our sandy-bottomed, natural, spring-fed, motorboat lake which is ideal for fishing, swimming, and boating - one does need a short-term fishing license from NYS which is obtainable online,

There is a barbeque grill on the side porch and the fire pit is great for roasting marshmallows -

Depending upon the season you may enjoy outdoor dining; private dock and beach from which you can walk into the natural, spring-fed motorboat lake - take out the canoe or paddleboat, swim, fish from the dock (there is also lots of shallow water should children be in your party.)

We love the opportunity to relax, enjoy nature watching from hummingbirds to bald eagles, sit quietly and do absolutely nothing - we rarely leave the house when staying ourselves - there is no need - I always comment to my husband that it feels as if we have our own private resort.....

Sandy Beach Tavern (1 mile from the house) has a full bar, snack bar, pool table, game room, and private beach for swimming (closed in the winter.)

Eldred is the closest village (3 miles away) with a supermarket, library, shop, ice cream/sandwich shop and outdoor pizza restaurant.

Barryville right on the Delaware River is 6 miles away with restaurants, antique stores, and the opportunity to rent canoes or kayaks,

White Lake is 8 miles away and also boasts restaurants, boat rental, and antique stores.

Cochecton is worth checking out, in particular the amazing Hennings restaurant.

Bethel Woods home of the famed 1969 Woodstock festival is just 10 miles away.

Public transit is not available - this area needs a car although one may bus to Monticello (good for bigger stores such as Walmart of Shoprite) or take a train to Port Jervis and then take a cab ride.

If you intend to throw a party during your stay (guests in excess of 20% of your reserved guest list would constitute a party) you would need pre-authorization. There would be an additional fee (to be negotiated) as this larger group involves extra liability, wear, and tear, as well as higher cleaning fees and usage of basic house items such as paper goods and utilities.

Guests may check-in after 4:00 p.m. on the day of arrival and must check out by 11 a.m. on the day of departure.

If there is no back-to-back reservation it may be possible to request an earlier check-in or later check out. Please be aware that an additional fee may be required depending upon season and or weekend.

Should a guest need to cancel last minute due to extenuating circumstances such as personal or health emergencies and/or natural disasters, they should contact the host to discuss options.

Please note:
For security purposes only, this property has a doorbell camera on the front door and on the basement door. There are also two driveway cameras; one for the side of the house and one for the back of the house. There are no indoor cameras whatsover.

Additionally, as much as we love animals, due to many with allergies, (including the hosts), we are unable to accomodate visiting pets either indoors or outdoors.

Amazing 8 acres of property and a 4,300 sq ft home, renovated 5 bedroom / 4 bathroom. The house sleeps up to 10 people. Perfect setting in the woods and on the lake. Enjoy the 2 kayaks, 2 standup paddle boards, tubes and rafts, lake trampoline and fishing rods. Relax on the hammocks, roast smores at the fire pit, play basketball and enjoy the outdoor shower. There’s also a Weber gas BBQ. The house has ample living and entertaining space with the open kitchen, sitting area, and huge living room with 10 person dining table, 65 in tv and couch with 3 recliners. The whole house was just renovated over the summer and has ample space to accommodate families and large groups of friends. The 1,500 sq ft basement was just completed, it’s fully carpeted with a bedroom, full bathroom, sleeper sectional sofa and lots of fun stuff...a ping pong table, bar area with dart board, 55 inch tv, Nintendo 64, and a huge toy closet. There is AC in the living which keeps the downstairs cool, and all bedrooms have AC, other then the basement, which stays cool and has a Dyson fan in the bedroom. The house is shaded, so stays cool even on hot days.

Across the lake is Sand Beach, a beach with swimming area, picnic tables and has a dive bar with food, drinks and music. Go visit Bethel Woods for concerts during the summer or The Woodstock Museum all year round, checkout Catskills Distillery across from Bethel Woods. Float down the Delaware River, explore hiking trails, go to the cute town of Narrowsburg and all the great restaurants in the area.
For the winter, the 2 closest ski areas are Big Bear in PA and Holiday Mountain in Thompson, NY.

A forested lane leads to the cabin, and guests enter into an open plan common space. A basic kitchen supplies all the necessities, along with a couple of bar stools overlooking the living room, a generous deck, and the lake beyond. The interior features wood detailing throughout with occasional accent walls. A wraparound leather sofa is the perfect spot for everyone to squeeze in and enjoy the warmth of the fire, or alternatively, a movie night.

The sunny master bedroom, a king, extends off the living room, along with a small queen guest room and a twin room. All bedrooms share a bathroom with a walk-in shower.

Outside, the sun deck is easily accessible from the kitchen, which is great for outdoor dining. And a crystal clear, bubbling hot tub is just a few convenient steps from inside. From the deck you can view a generous bit of land, at least in lakefront terms, down to the lake. A short, forested walk down a private path leads you to a gazebo right on the lake. This is the ideal staging area for lakefront adventures - putting on sunscreen, organizing your fishing tackle, towel storage - or as a shaded destination for sipping a cold beverage when the sun sets. This property comes with two row boats and two kayaks just begging you to explore Mohican Lake. A rustic fire pit is also available to guests down by the lake.

The thing we love about this cabin is that there's truly something for every season. Escape the winter blues with warm nights by a crackling fire or out in the hot tub under a blanket of stars. Fish off your own private dock in the spring (be sure to bring your own equipment). Grill up a feast during the heat of the summer. Let the leaves dazzle you in the fall. This time of year is perfect if you want seclusion and quiet we basically saw only one person the whole time we were at the house or on the lake. The lake has a good amount of fish and we caught a few from the dock and while kayaking around . Steven replied to all my messages with answers to all my questions . He made it very easy for us to enjoy ourselves . This was our first time at his property and hopefully not the last. I would like to someday return with our 3 boys they would love it . If you love nature and fishing and hiking there is no shortage of really spectacular trails and trout rivers nearby. Final note .....the hot tub was amazing. Beautiful 3 bedroom 1 full bathroom lake front house on the west side of Mohican Lake. Bedrooms sleep 6 but has 2 futons in Livingroom. Enjoy your morning coffee while you watch the sunrise. In the evening, enjoy the sunset from the lake. Extra large open grass yard with XL private dock, one of the largest docks on the lake. Relax at night by the fire pit and watch the stars over the lake. Lake accommodates motorized boats or enjoy Kayaks and fishing during the no wake/quiet hours from 7pm to 11am. A great weekend getaway for the whole family.

We have been going to this lake for over 40 years and we were fortunate enough to have a spot to launch our boat and to take it out. My niece was getting married and her house was quite busy with guests so we could not stay there. If we did not have a spot to launch our boat, there is no launch available to you. That’s something to know. It’s not an issue unless you plan on bringing a motorboat. The association is very strict with their rules for this lake and do not want outsiders coming and launching their boats. This is not communicated in the listing. The way it’s written, you would think that if you bring a boat to this beautiful dock, which it is absolutely gorgeous, you would have a way to put your boat on the lake. If the property we launch from is sold, unfortunately, we won’t be back because our purpose of renting is to enjoy our motorboat. The cabin itself has been renovated and is very cute. You need to bring absolutely nothing. It is very well stocked. The kids enjoyed the kayaks. Communication with Susie is excellent. Check in process was a breeze. If you’re looking for a little getaway, on a beautiful lake, in a cute cabin,then definitely this is your go to."

- "We stayed at this retreat in the woods for a 3 day concert run at Bethel Woods. It was clean, quite & close to the venue. The yard was huge and we spent lots of time at the fire pit. Our favorite beach on the Delaware River was only 12 minuets away so we spent our days river side. Plenty of parking and the host was very helpful with our questions. Nearby Highland Lake provides plenty of fun and activities. The 203-acre lake is stocked annually with fish (bass, perch, pickerel, and crappie). The water is perfect for kayaking and canoeing (ask us about kayak rentals), and there's a boat ramp for those who want to cruise. To relax, The Sand Beach is a great local spot on the water for drinks, BBQ, and music.

Being minutes from the mighty Delaware River and the Rio Reservoir will give fishermen the waters of their dreams (American shad, trout, eel, perch, and pumpkinseed in the Delaware and bass, perch, crappie, walleye, and pickerel in the Rio). Hikers and ramblers will enjoy the many exceptional trails, especially the much-loved Mongaup Trail, which children can easily do. Like any rural environment, this house is surrounded by countryside, farms, and wildlife. While it's lovely to observe the eagles, deer, bears, and adorable chipmunks, it can also mean you will hear coyotes and foxes at night and encounter the less cute mice, flies, snakes, ants, and bees. There is very little to be done about it, but by keeping doors closed or screened and food in its appropriate storage, unwelcome guests will stay outside where they belong.

• Please make sure you take out the trash, this helps with smells and preventing creatures from wanting to come in to the house.
• If used dishes, we ask you place them in the dishwasher and hit start.
• Please extinguish all fires and fuels, inside and out, and cover the BBQ once cooled.
• In winter, please make sure the heat is turned down to 60*
• In summer, please make sure the AC is left at 70*
• Upon departure, please make sure all lights are turned off and all exterior doors are locked
