Welcome to your home away from home! This is a lovely 3bdr, 2 bath country style home with a splash of modernity that is located within short distance to downtown historic Sutter Creek. The fully furnished living spaces are open and inviting and is great for entertainment or relaxation. Enjoy the green pasture from the living and dining room or relax by the pool while taking in the fresh country air. The sunsets are spectacular in the evenings.

The kitchen was recently renovated and new hardwood floor was installed throughout the house. The decor and furniture reflects our vision of incorporating new and refurbished materials to create a country living feel. The master bedroom has a queen size bed and private bathroom. The second bedroom also has a queen size bed and the third has two twin beds. There are additional air mattresses to accommodate additional guests.

Guest will have access to the entire house, including the pool, except for the garage. We welcome all guests to stay at our place, including family with young children, however, the pool is not gated so we asked that parents exercise great caution and watchful of their children around the pool. We want to make our guests' stay safe and welcoming for all. For guests who loves to cook, our kitchen is fully stocked. Make yourself a home and feel free to use the use the spices, oil, cooking utensil, etc. You're also welcomed to use the grill and we only ask that you to clean up the grill after each usage.

Public transportation is limited in Sutter Creek. We recommend renting a car so that you can fully explore the beautiful lakes, rivers, hiking trails, and hidden gems at the foot of the Sierra Foothill or take a day trip to the beautiful Lake Tahoe (about 1.5 hours away) or explore the bountiful wineries in Amador or San Jaoquin valleys. If you're staying on the weekend, check out Jackson Rancheria Casino for their famous seafood buffet. Don't forget to check out Gold Dust Pizza in downtown Sutter Creek. The restaurant has excellent pizza and chicken wings. It is an excellent place to have beer, wine, and pizza all year-round. The backyard is a great place to hang out during the summer and fall because it's located right next to the creek. Don't forget to check out the handful of wine tasting room

We don't have lot of do's or don't do's. We simply asks our guest to respect our place and treat their home away from home as if it's their own home. Please take great care of the place by not leaving hot cups, plates, etc. on the table without a coaster. We don't ask for security deposit because we trust that our guests will be responsible. Also, please be respectful to our neighbors by not having loud music or conversations after 10 pm. Due to our City Lic. we are not allowed to have guest park in the street, or in front of other homes. Only in the driveway. Only two cars allowed per reservations. Please note: That if more cars other then two is reported the city will revoke our city lic. Please respect the rule. The City of Sutter Creek also imposes a 10% hospitality tax. Captain’s Cottage is a tastefully decorated three bedroom, one bathroom furnished cottage located in a quiet and peaceful residential area in Ione.
A few blocks away is the town of Ione. It features a laundromat, food market, pizza, and restaurants.
We are close to the Ione Castle that towers over most of Ione. Nearby are Plymouth, Jackson, and Sutter Creek, as well as many wineries, Castle Oaks Golf Course, and Black Chasam Caverns.
Our own captain loves Lake Amador, Lake Pardee and Lake Camanche all located here in Ione

As part of our commitment to safety and property protection, we have installed security cameras in specific non-public areas of the premises. There are cameras in the unfinished (locked) part of the basement, and on the back of the house overlooking the creek. - "Well this is a well kept secret... I hesitate to go over board, altho I could, about this place because I don't want it to be too booked when I want to go again.lol. Charlotte the property manage is over the top kind, professional, communicative, and wecoming. My husband and I celebrated our 49th anniversary here and we were not disappointed. The pool is truely magnificient. There was plenty of quiet and alone time and then there was some social time with Robin and Joe,residents that live there on the property full time. Lovely people. The view from the pool is a of vast rolling hills and a valley where they meet. The infinity pool washes over the wall when the water fall is on. Lots of great sun exposure, which we like but plenty of shade too if thats your preference. The fire table would be great in the fall or winter but it was a bit too hot for that when we were there. The apartment was immaculate and well appointed. The bed was very comfortable. The view from the kitchen window is , again, a lovely display of rolling hills and quiet beauty. Are you looking to escape the city for a few days of solace and relaxation? Do you have a yearning to spend some time at the lake? Does hiking through the wildflowers with the sound of the river guiding you along appeal to you? Would a day of shopping at boutiques in historic gold mining towns in between stops at the wineries be more your speed? Or does simply doing nothing at all, other than laying low and recharging your batteries in a peaceful bucolic setting sound exactly like what you're looking for? If you answered yes to any of these questions, perhaps our little retreat hidden in this Northern California ranch setting is the answer for you.

Our home is on five acres, surrounded by cattle ranches, rolling hills of green or amber, and other idyllic rural scenes. Being up on a small incline, the highlight of the property may be the view of the ranchland below, framed by distant hills. On a clear night, the lights of Stockton and Sacramento dot the horizon, and on a very clear day, Mt Diablo is visible, standing at attention in the distance. Certainly, the outdoors - where often the only sounds one hears are the singing of birds and the lowing of cows - is a major feature of this property, and with that in mind, we've created numerous sitting areas to take it all in. The deck overlooking the pastures beneath is one of our favorite spots, as there's almost always a refreshing breeze wafting up from the hillside below. Other relaxation areas include chaise loungers to work on your tan, a swing bench made of Montana pine wood to view our developing flower garden, padded reclining chairs around a gas fire table, a beckoning hammock stretched between two oaks, and another seating area on the large back deck of the house - perfect to keep company with the one manning the barbeque.

If your visit happens to coincide with weather not conducive for spending outdoors, fear not, as we’ve made sure that the inside is just as inviting, and certainly more cozy. In total, there are five bedrooms (please make sure to read the details below!!), four of which are ensuites with private bathrooms. The well-appointed kitchen has a large center island with seating, and the dining area boasts more views of the scenery filtering through the oaks. The sunken living room is right off the kitchen and features a large sectional and big screen TV, as well as a gas fireplace for those chillier nights. And finally, the living area extends into a large sunroom over a spacious deck, highlighted by a hot tub from which to take in the views. This room is sure to keep you entertained, with a ping pong table, beanbag toss (cornhole), and game table, as well as an additional seating area.

For the bedrooms, we went with a themed approach, trying to encapsulate what makes the area distinctive. The master is called our Ranch Suite. This features a king-size bed, gas fireplace, and a completely remodeled bathroom containing a wet room. The next bedroom is our Garden Suite. This has double doors leading to the sunroom, a walk-in closet, and its own full bathroom. It’s important to understand the layout of the third bedroom, our Boat Room. This room with two twin beds is off the master suite via double doors. This would make for an ideal option for younger children who want to be near their parents. Alternatively, for older children or adults, those doors can be locked, and the room be accessed from the main part of the house via the garage.

The final two sleeping areas are in separate casitas, located approximately 50 yards from the main home along the driveway. The first is our Farm House – don’t be surprised if you raise the back blinds in the morning and are mere feet away from a grazing horse or cow. The other is our Tree House. In addition to the tree-themed decorative elements, you may feel you’re up in one when looking down from the back window. Both casitas are complete suites with their own bathrooms.

There are washers and dryers in the laundry room of the main house, and another set in the Farm House.

While nestled in the hills, the water enthusiasts may not realize it, but there are three lakes and a river just minutes away. The Mokelumne River can be accessed by a country road near the house, and it leads to a bridge from which there are often fishermen casting their lines. There are hiking trails along the river, plus the Mokelumne section of California's Coast to Crest trail. For lakes, the most immediate three include Camanche Reservoir, Pardee Dam, and Hogan Lake, in addition to a number of others within an hour.

A six-minute drive would put you in the quaint mining town of Mokelumne Hill. From there you can grab a morning coffee and either head south on 49 to San Andreas, Angels Camp, and Murphys, or north to Jackson, Sutter Creek, and Plymouth. All these areas feature fantastic wineries and tasting rooms, with Shenandoah Valley perhaps being the most well-known. Murphys and Sutter Creek are our favorites, but all the towns have shops, restaurants, and tasting rooms to explore.

The standard rate is $575 per night, but discounted rates are offered for stays of one week or longer. One last thing - the property also has full RV hookups, size permitting. Let us know if this add-on would be of interest to you.

The house is stocked with games and books galore. There are also Legos, Duplos, blocks, trucks, Barbies, dolls and other toys available. Just let us know the ages and preferences of your children and we will have toys them sanitized and ready to go.

The South Shore of Camanche Lake is only a mile away, and has swimming, boating, and fishing, as well as the staging area for the Mokelumne Coast to Crest Trail, which follows the river as it rises into the Sierra mountains. The nearby town of Ione, home to many horse trainers, has recently completed an indoor arena, open to the public for a small fee.

At approximately 500’ elevation, it is well below the snow and frost line. In 2 hours, you can choose to head to Yosemite National Park, San Francisco, Napa Valley, or Lake Tahoe. A short drive east is the historic Sutters Millsite, where the Gold Rush began, and the Jumping Frog festival for Calaveras County, made famous by Mark Twain. Sacramento airport is a little over an hour away. Nearby are the almond orchards for Blue Diamond, and the great wine production at Lodi, Murphys, and Amador County.

We have a charming 2 bedroom/ 2 bathroom house that was once an original gold mining cabin, walking distance to the well-preserved historic downtown. We also have a detached outbuilding that serves as an office and has a 1/2 bath accessible from the pool area. The fully furnished indoor and outdoor living spaces are perfect for entertainment or relaxation. Enjoy the large recently remodeled backyard complete with swimming pool, as well as the highest speed internet available to easily handle your virtual and distance learning requirements. Between bookings, the home will be thoroughly cleaned to protect our guests from COVID-19.

The space:
Enjoy cooking on the 5 burner gas stove or grilling outside. The living room features a 70” LCD flat screen with Bose surround sound and reclining sofa, perfect for movie night. Note: there is no active "TV" service, but you can Chromecast anything from your devices (directions are in the house binder) . The master bedroom has a queen sized bed and en-suite bathroom. The second bedroom has a full sized bed and en-suite bathroom. The front porch is enclosed and contains a convertible couch for additional recreational space. The washer and dryer are located in the basement and will be accessible for your convenience.
For guests who love to cook, our kitchen is fully stocked, with anything you might need to make a fantastic meal. Make yourself at home and feel free to use the spices, oils, condiments, etc. If you use a little, no problem. If you use a lot or it’s running low, please replace it.
There is also an outdoor grill for your use, we only ask that you leave it clean and with propane for the next guest to enjoy.

A keypad deadbolt is installed on the door of the side porch, the code will be provided shortly before your arrival. Once inside, you will find the keys and a binder outlining everything you need to know about the house, how to make things work, and nearby attractions, including 11 wine tasting rooms and a draft house just a short walk away.

Other things to note:
We will be on a family RV adventure and would prefer to have one long term booking for the duration of our trip to reduce turnover. We will provide a 30% discount for stays of at least 31 days, 40% off for 60 days or more. Our dates are flexible, so we can coordinate what works best for you. Feel free to message me.
The City of Sutter Creek requires homeowners to collect a 10% "transient occupancy tax" for all stays 30 days or less.

Keep in mind, this is not a vacation rental property, it is our home. We don't have a lot of rules, we simply ask that our guests respect our home and treat it as if it's their own. Please take great care by using coasters, hotpads, cleaning up spills promptly, and covering the outdoor furniture when not in use. Also, please be respectful to our neighbors by keeping the noise down after 10 pm.

TINY HOUSE: Completely separate from the main house. (Approximately 100 yards away in the back end of property WITH THE HORSES!) It's the perfect place for a couple or single to relax and recharge :)

Property: 10 acre Ranchette with a pond, pool, gazebo, walking trails and firepits. We are at the end of a dead end road and the back of our property borders 440 acres of county owned pasture land. All of the roads to get here are paved.

We also have another guest house on the property that we rent via Airbnb. Dori and Meredith live in the main house on the property.

Pool and Property: Guests will have full free roam of all of the property including the pool, gazebo etc.

Animals: 2 -5 horses, barn cats and our house dogs.

Horses: The Tiny House is located within the fenced area where the horses roam. You might wake up and they be right by the front window or you might not even see them. They are sort of unpredictable except at feeding time. If you would like to feed and/or pet just let us know

Your Dogs/Cats/Horses: Friendly fur animals are SUPER welcome here!!! Most dogs go off leash and absolutely LOVE being free! They are also free to swim in the pond and pool. Make sure to let us know if you are bringing a pet as we have special welcome packages for them :)

Our Dogs: Banks, Jett and Tennessee. Banks (german shorthaired pointer) is older and is inside 99% of the time. Jett (female pocket german shorthaired pointer) and Tennessee (goofy male black lab) like to play and lounge around outside. We have a fenced back yard off our main house and while guests are here they use this area.

***If your dogs are not comfortable with other dogs then we ask that you NOT bring them- we used to try to accommodate but it is too hard now.

Your dogs: They are free to roam off leash. Our property is fenced but not secure if a dog really wants to escape. We find most dogs off leash just like to run in the grass. Your dogs can swim in the pond and the pool.

If your dog is off leash you must keep an eye on them :)
(Do NOT let them wander unsupervised)

SUPER IMPORTANT: Do not let your dogs harass our cats, horses or goats. (It is normal for a dog to bark a few times at a horse but if it is trying to get to the horses or goats through the fences then you need to not take it close to the fence) Same with our cats- if your dog wants to chase our cats do not let them off the leash.

Having said all of that about dogs- 95% of guests that visit with their dogs are Awesome pet owners and any of the above warnings would never even need to be said! We have unfortunately had some irresponsible doggie owners and now try to be as up front as possible with dog rules to help those that are clueless about being a doggie parent.

Other occasional wildlife include deer, ducks, cranes, geese, wild turkeys, pheasants, otters, muskrats. Ducks and cranes are more common. Geese, wild turkeys and pheasants are seasonal. You will occasionally hear coyotes off in the distance at night.

Fishing: We have a 2 acre pond. Many people fish all day- we just ask that you catch and release :) Please bring your own fishing equipment!

Birds: We have LOTs of birds- we once had a bird specialist randomly come stay with us and tell me all the different types of birds we have here...oh how I wish I would have written them all down. Or perhaps you know about birds and can help me categorize them? :)

Kids: This is a great property for kids to roam and experience semi ranch life. There is A LOT of water here. The pond is about 2 acres and there is a pool. We trust you know your children and can properly discern if this is the right place for them. :-) Over the years we have had tons of kids stay and enjoy. We allow kids 12 and older.

About us: We are entrepreneurs and live in the main house on the property. We have an office that is 2 miles away and sometimes go there but also sometimes stay home if there are ranch chores to do. We are both originally from cities and enjoy the peace and solitude this property provides. We are more than willing to be friendly and socialize or give you complete privacy. If we are traveling we have caretakers stay on the property should anyone need anything. (And Dori's parents are 1 ranch over)

Our interactions with guests: Some guests we never even see. Some we end up having cocktails and dinner with. We are friendly but can sense when guests want to do their own thing! :)

In regards to ranch chores- we try to do anything loud during checkout hours :)

Things to Know Before You Come:

Secluded: We are 20 minutes away from a real grocery store so make sure to stock up before you come. There is gas station 2.5 miles away that has snacks and basic items. We keep tea and coffee and standard kitchen items stocked in the cottage.

Connectedness: We have Wifi. Cell service is not very good. You can stand in certain places to get better signals but Wifi is best here for communication.

Please note: the Wifi might go out while you are here and it might take 24 hours (or more) to get it fixed- we do not have utility services here like in big city- aka things happen slower here! This seems to happen about 1 day a month. We have guests here pretty much every night so if it does happen while you happen to be here we apologize in advance and we always work to get it up as fast as possible. Sometimes it's things like the olive branches needing to be trimmed out of the way of the beam! Most guests take it in stride and will do other things besides being online, however we have had some guests be very upset about this so we want to just give a heads up that this IS a possibility during your stay :)

Ranch Life: The tiny house is luxurious but this is a ranch with animals and wildlife and dirt and bugs :) Please bring appropriate attire to fully enjoy the ranch life. If during the summer please bring bug spray and sunscreen. If during the winter please bring boots for the mud

It's a short scenic drive to over 40 critically acclaimed wineries & picturesque Sutter Creek, Amador City, Volcano, and Fiddletown. Plymouth, reminiscent of Napa 50 years ago, is a hidden gem ready to be discovered.
The space
This home was built by my family generations ago and recently completely renovated. The tree out front was planted 90+ years ago in honor of my father's birth.

There are three bedrooms on the second floor. The primary bedroom has a queen bed, work desk, hanging chair, and en-suite bathroom with a large shower. The Green bedroom has a queen bed with a hall bath. The Twin Room has two twin beds with a hall bathroom. The second-floor hall bath has a long cast iron tub with a shower and marble floors. On the first floor the TV room can be used as a bedroom. The TV room couch pulls out to a comfortable full bed and a designer bathroom with shower is attached.

A peaceful wrap-around porch on the first floor has a dining table, porch swing, and two rocking chairs. It is accessible from the mudroom, dining room, and living room. The TV room has a large TV, games, and art supplies. The first-floor designer bathroom has a shower.

The well-equipped kitchen is spacious and light-filled.

While Bedroom 2 doesn’t have HVAC vents (it’s located in the basement), the room stays comfortable year-round. Though occasional noise from upstairs guests may occur, earplugs are available just in case—though it's rarely an issue.

The Patio is right outside of the laundry room, and is an amazing place to relax. Nothing better than the sound of rain on that tin roof.

This darling well-kept one-bed cottage is located at the end of a quiet cul-de-sac just a short walk to grocery, restaurants, coffee, donuts and ice cream! There is so much to do in Amador County, however, as cozy as this gem is you may want to just stay home for the weekend!

Visit Rail Explorers, Historic Jackson, Sutter Creek, Plymouth, Amador City, gold and silver mines, museums, caves, lakes and so much more!!

The space
Located at the end of a quiet cul-de-sac, this charming cottage is truly a home away from home for the traveler. Parking and turn around is a breeze in the large paved driveway. 100-yr old oaks tower above providing shade and housing a variety of birds. The inviting front porch is a great place to end the day.

Enter the front door and you'll find a comfy leather club chair and ottoman and a large sofa perfect for naps or watching a movie on the Roku equipped flatscreen. The 1940s vintage painted pine ceiling throughout adds warmth and charm to this darling cottage. You'll find a small wooden desk and leather chair just in case you need to take care of a few emails.

Head into the fully stocked kitchen where you'll have a choice of Keurig or drip coffee maker and a full size refrigerator/freezer with gas cooktop and oven. Kick off your shoes in the mudroom complete with a vintage rolling cart for beverages of your choice. The mudroom houses extra linens, supplies, a fire extinguisher, two portable fans, a Kirby vacuum and first aid kit.

Head back to the bedroom and bathroom with shower and tub where there is plenty of shelving for your toiletries and complete privacy and quiet for a good night's (or day's) rest. Velvet curtains can be drawn to make this cozy queen bedroom a respite from the world. The whimsical back garden beckons you to enjoy your morning coffee sitting on the settee just off the bedroom where you can do a little bird watching and daydreaming.

A few blocks away (5 minute walk) is the town of Ione. It features a laundromat, general store, pizza , brewery, coffee shop, and restaurants.
Locally we have wineries, flowerfarm,caves,gold mining, theater,antiques fishing & boating.
Nearby is Plymouth, Jackson, and Sutter Creek .
Our own captain loves Lake Amador, Lake Pardee and Lake Camanche all located here in Ione.

Captains Cottage is tastefully decorated in a nautical Cape Cod style, that invites peaceful relaxation.
This is a no smoking (of any kind) inside the premises. (Patio outside only)
There is a small library of books on the subject to enjoy.

This gorgeous two story home consists of a large Living Room, open space Dining Room, Full Kitchen, 2 Bedroom, 1 Bathroom.

We have 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. Sleeping area: 2 full beds , 2 folded single beds and large couch in the living room that can be used as extra sleeping space.
Sleeps up to 7-8 adults and kids making our home a perfect destination home for families, smaller corporate retreats, and more. the kitchen fully stocked and accented with new appliances. You have everything needed to prepare any meal.
Courtesy Note: The house is located in a drought & village area - so there is no landscaping at the yard .The house was inspected and treated with a Pest Control company. We are highly recommend to keep all doors and screens closed to prevent from insects to get inside.
