- "This is a decent sized vacation rental with eclectic decor. Great location within walking distance to multiple restaurants and downtown area. Street parking is ample. The place has plenty of amenities and is very comfortable. My only critical feedback was that the couch was quite dirty under the cushions and needs a vacuum. And it would be great if that couch were had a pull out bed in it. You could easily accommodate a small family in this rental with an extra bed. Maybe some coat hooks at the front door would be handy as well. Thanks so much for a great holiday! Would definitely stay here again!"

- "If you are looking for a true cozy cabin that is not in the woods, but convenient to town, this is it. Loved cooking on the stove which brought back memories of childhood Thanksgivings of cooking on the same Tappan stove. Aside from the road noise, we enjoyed every minute." - "Great cozy place, just a few minutes from downtown Leadville. Very special place, we got engaged on top of Mount Sherman the weekend we stayed here!" - "This was our third trip to Leadville over Spring Break, having skied Copper Mountain twice and Ski Cooper once. This place continues to be preferct for our family of four. It's located on the north side of town, about three miles from the Leadville Safeway to the south. You are closest to Copper and Ski Cooper, both north of Leadville. You have the feeling of being in a secluded cabin setting, yet less than a few minutes from the grocery store. There are many personal touches to really make you feel at home. It's about 20 miles to Copper Mountain, one of my favorite CO mountains, as the mountain is huge, one of the famous 'Summit County' hills, lift lines are short, and it's not pretentious. Plus, being able to stay in Leadville vs a high-end condo is more appealing to our family. And, the owner is a really easy guy to work with. Although we have never met face to face, I consider Paul a friend after three years of swapping snow reports! This is our second year in the Tashi, a 2-bedroom cabin, one BR with a queen, the other bedroom with twin beds. We stayed in the Buckeye once, also an awesome cabin. Kitchen is well stocked, huge porch, very clean gas grill for your steaks or burgers. The woodbunring stoves work great, maybe too great. Three years and we still can't get a comfortable 'burn', either too hot or needs more wood...but it's fun having a fire. Beds are comfortable, and the living room has easy seating for four. It's a cabin...plugs are a premium and with this being the 'gadget age', ie phones, computers, Go-Pro, boot dryers, i-Pads, Nooks, Garmans, etc (kind of embarrassing!), it can be a challenge. But, there are a few plug in power strips to get stuff charged as long as you don't want it bedside. Also, no dishwasher or washer/dryer, but the website accurately reflects that. Pictures are spot on! At the end of the day, if we plan to return to Leadville, I wouldn't consider another property unless this one is booked. No, it's not a five star condo, but good luck finding one in Leadville, as that's not Leadville's vibe. It's clean, comfortable, priced right, and just an absolutely charming place to stay. You have a great feeling of being in the mountains, with town only a few miles away. "

The smell of baked goods will surely drift through the air as you walk down the stairs for your morning cup of coffee. Exclusive access to the studio apartment. The downtown has a culture all its own. Unique shops are scattered up an down Harrison Ave. There are plenty of gear shops to get you setup for winter or summer sports. While there are buses that travel between Lake County and Summit County, you'll need to check the schedule for each season. Highways and roads leading north toward Summit or south toward Buena Vista are maintained in the winter months.

- "Loved the old, historic aspect of the Loft. Beautiful views from the windows. Walk to the main street shopping/coffee/restaurants was 1/2 block. Would definitely stay there again." - "The Loft on top of The Governor's Mansion was a perfect meeting place for two "old" friends who first knew each other when we worked at the Climax Mine. We both love Leadville so there was no doubt about the location. After taking some time to review options for lodging I decided on the Loft. It was perfect. Two bedrooms - one with a king-size bed if we wanted to sleep together and the other with twin beds if not. A living room and kitchen which was perfect for bringing back take-out and enjoying cold beverages. Since downtown is less than a block away, it is easy to walk to any of the restaurants and shops. The trek up to the third floor is breathtaking due to the spectacular view of Mounts Elbert and Massive as well as the altitude. Go slow and savor the experience! The treads on the stairs and efficient snow removal provide a safe ascent even during the winter months. (We used to say Leadville has three seasons: July, August and winter.) The days were the favorite ones I remember about Leadville - sunshine, bright blue sky, white snow, and bitter cold! It doesn't get any better than that...except maybe the picturesque summer days."

**Please note that there is a $40 + tax pet fee, per pet, per stay. There will be an additional $50 fine if pets were brought to the property without notifying us. Due to a severe allergy one of our staff has, unfortunately we are unable to host cats. This room is dog friendly, not cat friendly. **
My husband and I bought this historical motel during the pandemic Jan 2021. Since we purchased the property, we did a full renovation for all the rooms. We are conveniently located at the heart of Leadville. Walking
This is a private bedroom and a private bathroom with access to a shared guest kitchen (open daily 7:30am-7:30pm). The room also includes a TV with direct TV services, a small dining/working table. Towels and bathroom essentials are provided. We have a private parking lot where guests can park, we do our best to plow the parking lot, but when it snows, inevitably it will become slippery, please be careful walking in the parking lot. No smoking is allowed on the property inside or outside. If you need to smoke, feel free to go to the sidewalk next to the property.
You have access to your room and the parking lot. We are in the process of building more common areas to provide a even better experience, stay tuned!
We are right on the main street of Leadville. Two Mile Hi brewery is right across the street. There is also a gas station across the street providing basic services. We love High Mountain Pies, they have amazing pizza and wings, Tennessee Pass Café has one of the best brussels sprouts in town, they also have some delicious burgers/sandwich. If you are a meat eater, check out Qincys, their bacon wrapped fillet mignon is on point....they also serve prime ribs on weekends. All these restaurants are less than 5 minutes walk away.
If you want to check out down town Leadville, it's a short 5-10 minutes walk. We are also close to a bunch of trail heads and ski resorts. We'd recommend a car if you want to enjoy the 100 miles + trail system in Leadville or go shred at the skiing resorts.

- "Was in town for the Leadville MTB Stage race. The room was clean and airy. Floors a little off level in spots bit we got use to it. Great location, bottom of the hill right at the end of Harrison." - "Very cute, very clean, and in a great location." - "We had a great stay in this fun, comfy place! It was perfect for our ski weekend." - "Wonderful experience at the motel! When we arrived, we were greeted with a welcoming atmosphere. There was aromatherapy, birds chirping through a white noise machine, a welcome bag with ear plugs, lotion, sunscreen, chapstick, face wipes and snacks, and a fridge with complimentary bottled and non-alcoholic seltzer waters. We were able to regulate the temperature through the Nest thermostat on the wall and it stayed surprisingly warm despite the below freezing temps outside. You do hear some noise from the street and the doors can be a little loud when they close, but overall it was quiet. And when we thought it was a little too noisy from the road, we utilized the complimentary ear plugs. The host texted and emailed me the day of my arrival with instruction on gaining entry and facts about the shared kitchen. Overall a delightful experience!"

- "Love the place... everything was perfect.." - "Great place! Close to downtown so we were able to walk to restaurants, comfortable bed and clean!" - "Great space. Warm, comfortable and welcoming. Easy access" - "Clean, great place to stay in Leadville. Very close to restaurants and shops. Very east and good communication." - "Property and location perfect. House is great, nicely renovated, turnkey for the most part. This is part of many in area that use DACK with property management company and it is not overly user friendly, conflicting information between emails with them and app that you need on your phone. I tried multiple times to call them and never got through. Had to text them for them to call back. Tough to get call back if you are out and about and service can be spotty even with 5G. We would definitely come back but I know now that it will have pitfalls when dealing with property mgmt through DACK app. This is our second “rodeo” with DACK app and it just seems to be an issue for them and the platform they use. Property’s we have stayed in are great so we have been lucky to not need them much. If you want learly check in or late check out you must do it through the app and for this property you have 2 choices for both and one for each is incorrect. Checkout info on app not consistent with directions sent of which I could not locate in the multitude of emails I had on phone. (My bad) I used DACK app for property and noted some things not the same as prior list received. Tried to call an confirm but did not get a person, texted them for help but by the time they responded we had already left. Extended checkout was paid for and used but initial response was pending until morning of checkout which serves no purpose at that point. After my email questioning this, they confirmed late’s checkout late in the evening before our morning departure. Again great property! Property management needs to work on the app and the information disseminated through it so that it is consistent and the platform needs to be reworked as it most likely does not fit everything. It f you rent directly through DACK you may get accommodations for late checkout and early arrival for free and avoid some fees that are charged on VRBO platform. As a owner on VRBO I would say DACK is the problem and not a platform I would ever consider."

The home is ideal, only 2 blocks from the main drag, and plenty of room for all of us. Kids loved the hot tub. We only stayed one night so didn’t use many of the facilities, well appointed kitchen, washer and dryer, etc. The only downer was Boom Days does not want dogs, so we took turns walking him around the perimeter. Would recommend, especially for a good sized group."

Anything you could need was available on site. The location is perfect for Leadville Race Series events! My family and I were very comfortable and there was plenty of room for the five of us! Thank you so much to Amber & Renee for their hospitality! I would definitely stay at any of their properties on all my future trips to Leadville of Grand Junction!"

Location was absolutely prime, and stay was comfortable!" - "Everything we needed was there for our stay" - "My husband, I and our dog Charlie were fortunate to getaway for the holiday. We loved our time in Leadville and the house was PERFECT! Plenty of space and well furnished. The bed was exceptionally comfortable. The dog had plenty of room to run and play. The options for tv entertainment were plentiful. It was cold when we stayed; however the house was nice and warm. Unfortunately we never used the hot tub because we had so much to do in and around town. The notes/recommendations were very much appreciated. There wasn’t a microwave but that was ok because we did a lot of cooking. Will definitely stay here again."

- "Interesting place nice location definitely will rebook" - "Nice location, clean and very nice host." - "We love Leadville. It's such a great town - it's so honest about itself, but as a result, accommodations can be hit or miss. Nevertheless, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Governor's Mansion. It has a great location for walking to main street, it's quite spacious, and it's atmosphere fits Leadville perfectly. The mattresses are all memory foam / "Purple" style, and quite firm, which aren't our favorites but should hold up well for a rental property and were fine once settled in. The living room and pool table were great for evenings of struggling to stay awake after high-altitude adventures in the surrounding mountains. The fenced in front yard is also great for a morning or evening cup of something warm or cheery while idly tossing a ball for the pupper. Downsides - and these are all minor nits, nothing major - it's a bit rough around the edges - just like Leadville. The kitchen lighting was poor and the kitchen could do with a few more cooking utensils; the window coverings were a bit...rustic; and it could do with some better sound isolation between the two main units, primarily at the door between them at the front entry way; and it needed maybe some details like a bathroom shelf/table for toiletries in the master bedroom on the 2nd floor and a few updated bath fixtures that were showing some wear, but work fine. None of these distracted from our enjoyment of a unique home in the last high altitude wild west town on earth. It will be on our list when we return!"

This historic building from the 1870's has a tranquil appeal that belies its humble beginnings as a coach house for horse-drawn carriages, and it has been renovated as a separate oasis behind our Victorian home. With cool mountain nights year long, you can wrap up in blanket while snuggling on the recliner or couch, light a fire in the wood burning stove, or cuddle on the patio under the stars warmed by the fire pit. And mountain summer days gives breath to the wildflower garden, gifting hummingbirds flying overhead. Located in the heart of downtown Leadville.

We provide all the essentials and more, including towels, extra down comforters, a heated blanket, and extra pillows. You can whip up a gourmet meal using the food processor, gas stove, convection oven and top it off with organic spices, or make a quick meal in the toaster oven or microwave.
Note: There is a ladder to climb to the loft. The third person will have an extra $30/night charge.

- "I never post reviews!!! Stay here! The property is perfect for a couple looking to escape and enjoy Leadville. Only made it to Winfield during the L100 run, but it had nothing to do with my housing situation! Oh yeah…The host family was almost as great as the housing as well:) A slam dunk, easy, fun, and relaxing weekend. See you next August for 100 miles more!" - "We loved this place! It was perfect for our family (two adults, one 8 year old child). The space was warm and cozy and allowed us to unplug and relax. The kitchen was well stocked and everything we needed was close by. The hosts were especially generous with their time and offered great recommendations for things to do in the area. We would definitely consider staying here again!"

Summary:
This Historic Victorian is in the perfect location, right next to Main Street! The Victorian Aspen Grove was built in the 1880s, and has many unique, existing attributes still present today. This house was recently purchased by a Leadville local, and is a constant work in progress/passion project. Although you can expect older windows, dated style and aging cosmetics, the fun you'll have here will be timeless!
The Space:
This home is clean, functional, and is a comfortable place to stay, and the location cannot be beat. There is plenty of space, there is a sauna, and pets are welcome!
Please note: Recently the paint on the ceiling started to peel, and there are a few cracks in the ceiling. Necessary repairs were made when the current owner purchased the home the ensure any visible cracks are purely cosmetic and that the home is structurally sound. The windows may seem draftier. (Although these things can be expected from a home built in 1880's we wanted to be sure to be transparent, please let us know if you have questions).
The house is two stories. It has two bedrooms, with a queen bed in each. There is a sofa sleeper downstairs. Three bathrooms (first floor - half bath and upstairs - one bathroom with a shower and one bathroom with a bathtub only). The exercise area & Sauna room are available for your use. (This home technically has 3 bedrooms, but we have converted one of the bedrooms into a sauna room for ultimate relaxation and recovery).

- "This is the perfect location for those interested in easy access to Jeep trails and bike trails. It is a quick walk to the local downtown shops. We’ve been staying in the Leadville area in the summer for over 14 years. This was by far our favorite place to stay. " - "My buddy and I booked this property for our yearly hiking trip and it did not disappoint! We had stayed in a few hotels around the area in previous years, but felt like we needed something a bit more comfortable and spacious. This two bedroom home was perfect for what we were looking for! The home was well kept and the owners even provided some basic necessities in the fridge and cabinets for us to use. The surrounding area was extremely quiet in late June and there were no disruptive neighbors. We were also about 3 minutes from the local grocery and could easily walk to a number of different restaurants. Working with the property owners was fantastic. They were very responsive and made sure that our needs were met. If you are looking for a home away from home then look no further. When my buddy and I return to Colorado again, we will definitely book this property without hesitation. "

About the name, Trappers Treasure:
In the early 1860’s Trapper Sam made many trips to Denver bringing skins, small handmade wooden spades and lots of gold. Sam would speak frequently about the best place to trap while he carved his unique spades. When he didn’t show for several winters it was decided that he must have died and the location of his mine would never be known. One day in the 1890’s a miner prospecting near tree line saw an old cabin beside a mine shaft. The miner took a sample from the mine and grabbed one of the spades before returning to town. An old-timer saw the spade and recognized it as one of Trapper Sam’s, and the two spent many years searching for the mine that had once been stumbled upon.
