We have a full kitchen with stove, microwave, large fridge and freezer with ice and water dispenser, dishes, pots, pans and silverware. We also have a coffee pot and hot water dispenser to make your morning coffee or a cup of tea in the evening. We provide coffee, tea, creamers and sugar. You can bring groceries or pick them up on the way, and spend a cozy weekend in our cabin without really having to leave! We have everything you need onsite to cook meals, rest, relax and unwind.
We have a new, comfortable memory foam queen mattress, large bathroom with shower and a cozy little chair and a half for sitting and watching tv or reading a book. We also have a small electric fireplace that can be turned on for ambiance or for heat if necessary. We do have central air and central heat in the cabin as well. Please note, we do have 3 listings , cabin 1, cabin 2 and cabin 4, so if you are traveling with a family or larger party, be sure to check out availability in all 4 units!

We’re Don and Tammy Murphy, your hosts. In 2021, we fell in love with this charming (run down) property and began a four-year renovation journey to restore the original 1947 home and transform the surrounding wooded acreage into a scenic, sunset-filled escape.

It’s been a true labor of love, and we were thrilled to begin welcoming guests in May 2025. We’ve poured our hearts into every detail to create a peaceful, cozy, and well-appointed getaway for families, couples, and friends alike.

The space:
The main floor of this sunny, open-concept contemporary has vaulted ceilings and a wall of windows overlooking the enormous, newly renovated wraparound deck and the wooded landscape beyond. Enjoy meals on the main deck at an outdoor teak dining table, as well as lounge seating, both of which are shaded by overhangs. Inside, you’ll find a spacious living room with sliding-glass doors leading to the deck, a newly renovated kitchen with a large center island, and a reclaimed wood dining table that seats 10.

Ascend to the second floor to find the two main bedrooms, with a walkway between them overlooking the living room. Natural light comes from every angle, including numerous skylights above. The master bedroom features a beautiful Chesterfield king-sized bed and your own private deck with two Adirondack chairs – perfect for enjoying your morning coffee or a nightcap before bed. A stunning newly renovated en-suite master bath features an oversized shower, cast-iron clawfoot tub and double-sink vanity. The second upstairs bedroom features two double beds, each with a twin-sized trundle underneath. This bedroom also has its own private deck. The second bathroom upstairs is just outside the second bedroom, and features a large tub/shower and a marble double-sink vanity.

Back downstairs, you’ll find two more bedrooms – one with a queen-sized bed, and one with a queen-sized bed and a twin trundle – as well as a third full bath. A home that has stood for centuries now and with a little more TLC will be fully restored to last another 240 years. We have been so impressed at the craftsmanship we uncover every time we begin a new corner of restoration - a federal post and beam to the core! While you'll see some corners of renovations are still underway, this home is a very special retreat and a relaxing and comfortable space to enjoy! You, as our guests will be supporting it's preservation!

The Colden family was an interesting part of American history and played a significant role in colonial America. (Jane Colden is a favorite of ours!). This house belonged to Thomas, sheriff of Ulster County and grandson of the Lt. Governor of New York. Later a part of what once was the Alex Campbell Milk Co. in the late 1800's, Colden House continued to play a significant role in Hudson Valley history.

Our personal residence is also on the 30-acre property so we are close by in case you need anything! But we have great respect for your privacy as well and will do our best to make this a perfect get-away for you and your group!

The space is very private. It is located on lower level of the main house. It has gorgeous picture windows facing the Hudson ( as seen in pics on profile), private side entrance as well as slider into bedroom and living area ( also in pics).
There is a separate bedroom, as well as an extra queen bed in larger space. We have soft panels for privacy around that sleeping space.
Big open room for relaxing on couch, nice high table and stools for eating. Desk for remote working that faces the river.
It’s peaceful, private, and a nice place to restore and enjoy.

An 18-foot tall cathedral style lofted ceiling gives this open-format room an immense yet cozy vibe. The room is adorned with sleek designer furnishings and lounging features including two abundant couches, a leather sitting chair, and a crimson red hammock. The custom white architectural facade fireplace provides the focal point of the room, while the concealed dimmable and color changing lighting lets you set just the right mood. There is also a 3rd bed in the form of a couch pull out for shorter term stays of a 5th guest.

This dream kitchen is designed to be highly functional for the master chef, yet is also sleek and easy to use for the not so culinary inclined. This home is especially appealing to the health and environmentally conscious. It is a safe neighborhood.

The bedroom has a King sized bed that can fit 2 people.

In the living room there is a futon that can be a additional bed for a second guest. There is also art from local artist that can be purchased.

In the kitchen there is counter space for two stools along with a microwave, coffee maker, and oven.

The kitchen has about everything you need to cook or bake.

The bathroom has a stocked medicine cabinet along with a bathtub-shower combination.

The house has vinyl and lament flooring through out and no carpet. There is also a small three inch step up to the kitchen and a three inch step down to the bedroom.

There are also two large closets for your clothing and other gear.

The deck is the smocking area and has 3 chairs, and 2 tables. It also has a cabinet that you will find all the supplies to use the grill and firepit along with horse shoes and other outdoor children toys.

The house is built alongside an 1800s barn on four and a half acres of wooded walking areas with trials for walking, forest bathing, and area to set up a tent.

You may see turkeys, deer, rabbits, and other wild animals.

The location is excellent for touring the Hudson Valley. It is 4 miles from the Newburgh waterfront restaurants and nightlife and you can take the ferry over to Beacon train station or visit the many boutiques, cafes, and museums in Beacon.

The Town of Newburgh offers two extremely large antique Emporiums, casino, motorcycle museum, and the The National Purple Heart Hall of Honor.

Also nearby there are many vineyards for wine and spirit tasting.

We have a good heating system, but the temperatures in the area have been extremely cold lately. If you’d like to stay in this cabin, please bring slippers and warmer clothes so that you will be comfortable in our space if the temperature outside is extremely cold.**

We are just across the Hudson from Beacon and the train station is a 20 minute drive.

This is a home first, and Airbnb second. Our priorities are cleanliness, maintaining the home and your comfort and safety. We need your help to do this. Please let us know, while you are here, if anything is broken or there is a problem. We cannot do anything if we don’t know about it.
Please do not stay here if you want a luxurious home, including the requisite Nutrigrain bars and two small bottles of water. We have a Brita in the fridge and, not really snacks, but food in the pantry. We have all the comforts of a small, but roomy home. (See amenities.)

People before us improved the house, but everyone was not skilled. There is one step between the foyer and the house and one at each of the two access points to the kitchen. The outlet by the kitchen table plugs into a light strip that illuminates the step to the bathroom.

The steps are high. The only way to correct this is to redo the upstairs and leave more room for the stairs. It isn’t going to happen this summer.

Unless the one step between rooms is a problem, people with limited mobility are more than welcome. The bathroom is on the first floor and we have a comfortable ottoman that opens into a bed in the sunroom.

Re: Infants/children: There is a vintage bassinet, but no mattress. The house is not conducive to a child’s gate. We try to minimize putting breakable things within a child’s reach, but this is not always possible. Feel free to move things for the children’s safety.
We do have a large backyard, games, a chest of drawers filled with art supplies, a chalkboard with colored chalk, games, puzzles, books, a lawn sprinkler hanging in the laundry room and a pool within walking distance.

Day pass: $7 per person, $10 for guests*

Fill out a short form when you get to the pool. Use Mitzi's address (14 First St) to pay the resident fee.

There is a train that goes from Beacon, the next town across the bridge, to Grand Central Station. Park your car at the train station and take the train. Trust me.

Guest access
This is a private residence with a fence. You have access to the entire house with the exception of the locked basement.

Other things to note
There is a pool in the village, but it is closed for repairs this summer (2025). Much of what makes the house we call Mitzi eclectic is the combination of old and new.
Because I have been thrifting for many years a fair amount of the furnishings and decor is vintage/collectible/midcentury modern.
Due to my enthusiasm for thrifting, I have a TON of vintage/collectible items in my life. Many aren't even here!
I am open to selling many of the items used for decor. If you are a collector and are interested in other items, please contact me.

The perfect tranquil getaway that's still close to all the fun. With views of the Hudson river and quaint outdoor space perfect for enjoying some fresh air, grilling or lounging around the firepit. Set in a quiet, scenic neighborhood yet only 10min drive from the bustling Beacon and Newburgh action where you will find restaurants, coffee shops, galleries shopping, and nightlife. With countless hiking spots nearby, farms and wineries. Pets are a case by case basis for additional charge.

The space
We love our beautifully modernized historic home. It has original framing, large romantic windows and tons of charm. The space is comfortable and functional. There are 2 Bedrooms, and a bathroom located upstairs. Downstairs there is open space living room, dining room and kitchen with all of your entertaining needs. Surrounded by a lightly wooded area, outside there is patio including firepit and grill, large parking space and porch with lounging area. Our homey space is personalized and you can expect to see a few of our personal belongings during your stay.

We do not provide propane for the grill but there are several places near by to get some. Guests are welcome to use any left over propane that is currently attached.

We currently have a small oven and a large oven in the kitchen. the large oven is not heating properly but the stove top and small oven work great

We provide drinking water through our riverse osmosis filtration systems.

This is a PRIVATE home. I will allow up to 4 adults and 2 children to stay at the Airbnb. I do live at this home, the Airbnb is separated from where I live in the home. The Airbnb is a finished basement and is private but the pool area is shared with Airbnb guests and my family. The only time you will see me is if I am outside tending to the property or maybe using the pool. I DO NOT ALLOW PARTIES OF ANY KIND OR SMOKING, IF YOU SMOKE GO OUTSIDE PLEASE.

The space
I have a large beautiful home with large amount of property filled with beautiful stone work and plants. the entrance to the Airbnb is surrounded by a gated back area with a large pool.

You can use the Airbnb space provided and the Pool Area, the pool is a shared space with Airbnb guests and my family. do not go outside the gated area as I am not Responsible for anything that happens to you outside the gated area.

Welcome to our family farmhouse, located at the end of a private road, where you will find peace and serenity. Enjoy the open concept kitchen, dining, and living room, perfect for relaxing with loved ones. Close to local farms, Legoland, Storm King Art Center, Newburgh Waterfront, Woodbury Commons, and much more. Clover Stables is next door and Brotherhood Winery, the oldest winery in America, is less than ten minutes away. Stewart International Airport is a short drive away. 60 mins to NYC.

The space
This 1800s French-style farmhouse sits on nearly 6 acres at the end of a private road. The newly renovated home features 4 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, an open concept kitchen, dining and living room, and an upstairs loft designated as a playroom for the little ones. ( All four bedrooms are located on the second floor).

If you're foodies like us, you'll enjoy Talavera Restaurant for authentic Mexican food or Ikaros Diner, a local staple that serves quality, classic diner fare. You can find something for everyone in the family at The Newburgh Waterfront (~20-minute drive). There are several restaurants to choose from while taking in spectacular views of the Hudson River. Hudson Taco is a personal favorite! If you prefer to cook at home, the kitchen is stocked with spices and all the cookware and utensils you'll need during your stay.

Orange County has a lot to offer for the entire family. LEGOLAND is a 25-minute drive away. Visit the beautiful horses and schedule a riding lesson at Clover Stables just next door. A 10-minute drive takes you to Brotherhood Winery, America's oldest winery, which offers tastings and tours by reservation. If you're an outdoor enthusiast, Stewart State Forest is just down the road and has over 22 miles of major trails for hiking, biking, hunting, skiing, snowmobiling, bird watching, and fishing. The town of Beacon has a bustling restaurant and art scene and is ~20 minutes away. Shop till you drop at Woodbury Commons Premium Outlets, which is about ~25 minutes away.

Please treat our home as if it was your own and leave the space as you found it. You, as the booking guest, are responsible for any incidentals, damage, or missing items caused by yourself or any one of your guests accessing the home during your stay.

There are recording devices/security cameras monitoring the property. The cameras are located in the front entryway and the rear of the house. These are all monitoring the property and are not located inside the house.
