The space

29 West is the perfect spot for a retreat in the country. This cozy, tastefully remodeled home is surrounded by natural beauty. Perfect for a peaceful escape or a romantic getaway. Enter into the open concept space downstairs with a full kitchen and dining room. The living room has a smart tv with Directv service. Off of the living room you have the bathroom with a walk in shower. Off of the kitchen is an in-unit laundry room. As you walk up the wooden staircase, enter the loft style bedroom with a queen sized bed and a pull out sofa with a cot sized mattress. Heading back downstairs, french doors off of the living room lead out to the stunning backyard with an outdoor shower and an outdoor tub overlooking the countryside. Plenty of outdoor seating and a gorgeous pergola for entertaining. On the side of the house there is a communal barbecue area with two barbecues and plenty of seating. There is a separate studio unit also available on the property.

Although you feel tucked away, you have easy access to the highway and are within a short drive of many destinations and amenities. Just 2 miles down the road from Twin Pine Casino. Another mile down the road, enter the adorable country town of Middletown with restaurants, tasting rooms, a locally owned gourmet grocery store and boutique shops. Perfect location for a Wine Country retreat, as this is central for Lake County and Napa County, you have hundreds of wineries to choose from surrounding you. Calistoga is just 20 minutes away. For our active anglers and water sports lovers, it’s only 20 minutes to the largest natural freshwater lake in California and the oldest lake in North America, beautiful Clear Lake. If you’re looking for the perfect Golfer’s Getaway, the beautiful Hidden Valley Lake golf course is just 10 minutes away. Harbin Hot Springs is just 7 miles away.

Guest access

The main house and backyard are exclusively for Unit A's use. There is a large common barbecue area with slate ground cover in between both units with two barbecues and plenty of seating. There is a long shared driveway with plenty of parking off to the side of the driveway. Plenty of space for boat parking as well at the front of the property to the side of the driveway.

Other things to note

The road to Middletown is a sports car enthusiast’s dream, a winding mountain road with forested scenery and lookout points with sweeping vistas overlooking vineyards in the Napa Valley and the Mayacamas Mountain range. Cell phone reception in this area is spotty, there is wifi available in the unit. There is a separate studio unit also available on the property. Large barbecue area with two barbecues and plenty of seating between both units is a common area. Quiet hours will be enforced for those not renting both units.
Owners will allow gatherings on a case by case approval basis. Please inquire about your event as it will incur an additional cleaning fee and deposit.

Perfectly situated in downtown Middletown, this modern 2-story home sits in a quiet location but yet is just a 2 minute walk to the local cafes, coffee shops, grocery stores, community pool & more. It's an ideal spot if you are heading up Hwy. 175 toward Cobb Mountain & Boggs forest, out to Harbin Hot Springs, or further north to Hidden Valley Lake, Lower Lake & Clear Lake.

This property is located about 20-30 minutes north of Calistoga. For those wanting to visit Napa Valley, please note, you do have to drive over a windy, mountain road to get to Calistoga and the Napa Valley. We have many wonderful wineries here in Lake County and are happy to provide recommendations, if desired!

The huge entry hallway offers plenty of space for storing mountain or road bikes or other outdoor equipment that you want to bring inside for the night.

Downstairs is a bedroom with a queen bed, full bathroom with stall shower, walk in closet & utility room with washer/dryer & utility sink.

Upstairs is all the main living areas including the full kitchen, complete with dishwasher, pantry, microwave, electric range, refrigerator, and both a standard coffee maker or a single serve. It is fully stocked with dishes & all of the cooking essentials.

The living room & dining room enjoy vaulted ceilings & a cute deck with patio table, chairs & bbq looking out to the street ~ a perfect spot to enjoy your morning coffee.

The living room has two convertible couches, that can be laid flat to provide two twin-size bed options (most suited for children). There is a TV with Roku firestick and WiFi is provided.

The large upstairs bedroom features a king bed, desk area, walk in closet & black out curtains. The full bathroom offers a tub/shower combo with a jetted tub, pedestal sink & skylight.

A twin size blow up air mattress is also available for use. Please note the main living is upstairs and the stairway is a bit steep for some.

This is the main house and comes with the designated paved parking spot for one car in the driveway. There is a detached studio cottage behind this home, which does use the side yard for access and the gravel parking space is reserved for the cottage.

Need more space? The cottage can be rented separately and can sleep another 3 adults, or 2 adults + 2 small children (VRBO# 3067759). However the entire MAIN house is exclusively included in this rental.

Big Canyon Farm – Near Harbin Hot Springs

Big Canyon Farmhouse is an authentic, lovely, classically rustic craftsman home with gardens, sharing 3+ acres in pristine South Lake County wine country. We are surrounded by giant oaks, picturesque vineyards and expansive valley and mountain views. We are just 2.5 miles to Harbin Hot Springs! That puts us 18 miles (about 30 mins) due north of Calistoga, over Mt Saint Helena in the fabulous Callayomi Valley.

Big Canyon Farm is the perfect setting for a memorable retreat. The house includes 3 separate bedrooms and 2 full bathrooms. Both lower floor bedrooms have full size beds, cozy bedding, and share a full bathroom across the hall. The upstairs master has a queen bed plus sitting area, a dressing room and full bath with clawfoot tub. The upper floor resembles a full suite, to include the home theater lounge in the next room.

Downstairs, the open kitchen, living and dining rooms create an inspired group gathering space, with easy access to the giant covered porch/ outdoor lounge. The theater lounge upstairs includes a huge flatscreen tv, Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Prime, and YouTube TV. We have WI-FI and a high quality Bluetooth whole house sound system. The kitchen is very well appointed with the dishware and modern appliances for entertaining and gourmet cooking.

While it feels like we are miles into the country, our wonderfully stocked and family owned grocery store (including plenty of organics) is just over a mile away. Even a bit closer is the community swimming pool and tennis court. If you feel like going back in time to a simpler place, this is your spot!

If you’re into Mountain Biking, you’ll find plenty of joy riding at Boggs Mountain, and also at Six Sigma Ranch. Local Beaver Creek Organic and Biodynamic Winery is a favorite, as is Shedhorn’s tasting room downtown. Golf options include nearby Hidden Valley Lake (with driving range) and Adams Springs on Cobb MT. This is vacation paradise!

A couple interesting details about the house:

The wide plank floors, stairs and much of the finish/ trim work throughout the house are from local, fire salvage Douglas Fir. In winter, you can enjoy the local fire salvaged black walnut and tiled wood burning fireplace, which is as authentic and heart warming as can be.

- "Cabin 1 is probably one of the original Loch Lomand Resort cabins but fully updated to modern times. We rented 2 cabins on this trip but this cabin had 3 huge bunk beds that probably could have accommodated all of our family. Worked out well as all the of the college aged kids stayed in one cabin and all of the grown ups in the other. AC made the difference on a hot weekend. Pool, restaurant, coffee shop and small convenience store right across the street. Golf course nearby. Will be back and probably all of the other Italians in Loch Lomand too."

Beautiful views in the wonderful little Italian Village of Loch Lomond. High-speed internet, wood burning stove, comfortable queen size beds, washer, and dryer. A short little walk to the local market and Loch Lomond Roadhouse, Coffee shop, spin classes, and pool. Golf and frisbee golf just down the road two different golf courses. Hiking and biking on Boggs Mountain is only a short drive away. Great deck to read a book or just enjoy the sounds of nature. Deer, woodpeckers, squirrels, robins, hawks an abundance of wildlife. Wildflowers, shady oaks, a fire pit and places to sit around the campfire. Hammock between the oak trees.
Come get away and relax or a weekend or longer and still have the option of connecting to the world with high-speed wifi internet.

The house was clean, had everything we needed and larger that expected. We had a couple glitches locking ourselves out (our fault) - Jon responded immediately and was able to help and remained patient with us. We did have little ones with us (4 year old and 1 year old). The deck is not ideal for them but we knew that in advance and the rest of the house worked perfectly. We hope to rent again."

The main house boasts a sprawling open kitchen and dining area equipped with top-of-the-line appliances, a cozy family room with a wood-burning fireplace, and five spacious bedrooms. Throughout the house, you'll find tasteful Ralph Lauren Home furnishings that evoke a sense of luxurious yet inviting mountain retreat.

Designed by the owner and renowned architect Mark Appleton, the guest cottage offers a king-sized bed and exudes the charm of the English countryside with its Cotswalds-inspired design. Crafted from timbers and stone sourced from the property itself, the cottage features Venetian plaster walls, solid walnut floors, and elegant bathroom fixtures from Waterworks.

Venture out onto the sprawling grounds to explore hiking trails winding up the hill behind the structures, or bask in the sunshine on the summer beach along the creek that meanders through the property. For indoor entertainment, retreat to the "Bunk Barn," a designer game room equipped with a high-definition surround system, an 85-inch home theater, and a pool table, offering direct access to the pool area.

Mayastoga offers our guests Wine Country Concierge services for a small fee per day of your stay. Your concierge will plan and manage all aspects of your visit to our distinctive property in California’s northern Wine Country. Itineraries can include boutique and hard-to-access wineries, local restaurant reservations and transportation, as well as special touches that make for a truly memorable adventure. In addition to your tasting days, arrangements can include evenings in the comfort of your luxury residence with a private chef, a guest winemaker, or a cheese tasting and pairing with an internationally recognized food and wine expert (or all of the above!). Of course, there are numerous activities in addition to wine and culinary plans that are regularly arranged for our clients that include unique local attractions and activities (including our “Kids Country” itineraries).

MINIMUM STAY REQUIREMENTS: We have a 3+ night minimum depending upon the time of year.

CANCELLATION POLICY:
- Cancellations 30+ days prior to arrival will receive a full refund less any fees for credit card processing we assumed when you made your original payments. (We do not charge credit card fees when guests originally reserve)
- Cancellations less that 30 days prior to arrival will not receive a refund unless we are able to rebook the property for your same dates. In that case you will be refunded the full amount of your payments to date less any fees for credit card processing we assumed when you made your original payments. If we choose, you may be able to receive a credit toward a future stay valued at the full amount of your payments less original credit card fees.

FALSIFIED RESERVATIONS/NON-DISCLOSURE:
- Any reservation obtained under false pretense will be subject to forfeiture of advance payment, deposit and/or rental money, and the party will not be permitted to check-in.
- Any non-disclosure by Renter, such as failure to disclose pets brought to the property, additional guests allowed on the property by Renter, or any other material non-disclosure identified during Renter's stay will result in a fine equivalent to 50% of the rental amount.

DEPOSIT: We reserve the right to include a cash deposit based upon the details of the reservation.

TRAVEL INSURANCE: We are not your travel insurance company! Please seriously consider purchasing travel insurance for your upcoming reservation. While travel insurance is not mandatory it can protect against an unforeseen trip cancellation. There are many options for travel insurance and Mayastoga Property Group has arranged for our guests to purchase travel insurance through RentalGuardian, one of the leading companies offering this product. Standard travel insurance costs only 7% of your total invoice and CFAR (Cancel For Any Reason) travel insurance costs just 9.8%. You will be offered the opportunity to add this insurance to your reservation at check-out.

The main house's interior is spacious and comfortable, and my family agreed the beds and linens were some of the most luxurious we've ever experienced. The huge bunkhouse is a fun, interestingly designed space with a big-screen TV, pool table, and arcade-type games. The quaint cottage offers a lovely living space and provides an extra place for solitude if needed. We did encounter a few things that didn't work properly and caused some inconvenience. However, the owner and property manager were very communicative and responsive to our concerns and questions, and they diligently tried to fix the issues as best they could. Unfortunately, some were not fixable during our stay. The Mountain Estate is a perfect "get there and stay there" vacation property. As heading north on Hwy 29 from Calistoga is quite winding, I recommend having all meals in-house and allowing enough time to experience the property's full potential."
