Dannemora is an interesting town that was home to many Ore Miners in its early days and now is probably best known as the home of Clinton Correctional Facility and interestingly we sit right across from it. With its interesting wall and guards on the towers there is probably no safer place on the planet. Dannemora is a very small town but also central to anything you would like to enjoy in the Adirondacks. I hope you enjoy your stay at the village house, it’s priced very affordably, very comfortable and centrally located to Plattsburgh, Lake Placid, Saranac Lake and tons of mountains, trails to hike & great fishing etc. If you are looking for a great value that’s cozy, clean and very comfortable this is for you!

Our camp was designed and constructed with large open spaces, plenty of glass and natural materials from the adirondacks modeled after the great camps from the late 1800s. We made sure the modern day features enjoyed today and find necessary are also incorporated into the lodge.

Loon Lake and the Loon Lake House was the destination of 3 US Presidents which made it their summer white house in the late 1800s. Many of the NYC old families would come by train and spend the summer swimming and boating on Loon Lake. The NY Central railroad extended the tracks into Loon Lake and constructed a train station for arriving and departing guests.

Today the rail line is used for biking in the summer and snowmachines in the winter. Majestic boathouses built in the late 1800s are now private camps and are still on the shoreline.

Enjoy our large stone wood burning fireplace indoors with plenty of firewood available to help excape, unwind and relax from everyday life. There is nothing like sitting in front of a crackling fire, talking, enjoying an adult beverage.

The lodge is furnished with adirondack and camp furniture. Hickory, oak and pine dining and sitting furniture, along with cedar log beds are used in the lodge rooms. Taxidermy Birds, fish and mammals/animals help set the mood. All are also seen around the area in real life. Large deck with adirondack chairs, dining table, log chairs and gas grill look out at Bass lake and the mountains.

Enjoy the screened cottage attached to the deck. Listen to the loons,owls,birds and other wildlife. We have a two person canoe and kayak for you to use along with paddles and PFDs. Boat and swim down at Hodge Bay on Loon Lake a short walk just down the road. Hike or bike the many trails marked in and around the Loon Lake area.

All linens, towels and bedding are provided.We also provide paper products for the kitchen and baths, laundry supplies for the washer and drier and cleaning items for the dishwasher and dishes. The kitchen is stocked with all the pots, pans, dishes and tools needed to prepare a snack or a meal. Microwave, stove, refrigerator-freezer and dishwasher are provided. Washer and dryer are here for your use. 2 flatscreen HD televisions with high speed internet service, dvd player and a stereo along with wireless speakers are available for your enjoyment. Wi-fi will keep you connected if its necessary. Enjoy your morning coffee out in the screen room as you use your laptop or smart phone to check your email.

A secluded oasis directly on the magnificent Upper Chateaugay Lake, this property has been completely remodeled inside and out in the last 20 years and includes a major update annually. Located as the second to last house on a dead-end private road, yet directly in-front of the deepest part of the lake at 70 feet deep, this house and property is ideal for a get-away. Upper Chateaugay Lake leads into the Lower Chateaugay Lake via the Narrows for a total of 9 miles. The property, on the East shores and on a very gentle slope with 106 feet of direct lake-front, has breathtaking views of unspoiled, NY State parkland and mountains. Be sure not to miss the unbelievable sunsets across the lake to the West with bright oranges and purples - true eye candy. Of course, another benefit of spectacular sunsets is the ability to sleep in during the mornings without being awoken by beams of sun in the early hours. Additionally, stargazing at night will enable you to see more stars in one night than in a lifetime. Clear, crisp and full of memories.

Each room of the house has been remodeled, including the Mahogany master bedroom with a log king size bed & L-shape workstation overlooking the lake, Douglas Fir guest room with built-in full-size bed, slated side entryway, cedar bathroom with granite and terra cotta walk-in, full-size shower plus a granite kitchen with brand new tiled floor, and Pine tongue-and-groove dining nook and living room with new carpet, sofa, & matching ADK chair. Both bedrooms have plenty of closet space and nightstands/tables. Grand views of the lake are easily visible from the master, side entryway, dining nook and living room. My cabin is an L-shaped ranch with views of the lake from all angles.

New for 2025: Renovated outbuilding named the Shotgun Shack includes extra sleeping quarters with a set of bunk beds (Twin over Queen), plus a mini kitchen (sans stove/oven), and bathroom with walk-in shower. Perfect for the teens to get away from the folks. NOTE: The Shotgun Shack (outbuilding) is only seasonal & not available October - April.

The expanded U-shaped dock is one great option to hang out. The dock extension creates a large area to be on the waters edge: A 16 x 18 dock with a built-in bench and a 14 x 4 catwalk combining with the original 16 x 6 dock to form a large U-shaped dock party area. A new catwalk now combines all dock space for easy walking from one end to the other - maybe 80'. Entry into the refreshing waters of Upper Chateaugay is easily done multiple ways: via the extra-wide (10 feet) staircase on the right side of the property, the ladder from one catwalk, the staircase from another dock, as well as the ladder off the 32' dock. In any case, you are able to walk out 10 - 15 feet before being over your head. The lake bottom is firm, not soft and mucky, with a huge swath of rocks cleared for easy walking. The party dock and decking system will be your favorite place.

Your next favorite places will be the XL lean-to made from cedar and hemlock, and 12x12 floating deck, each built in 2018 and each offering cool areas to relax by the waters edge and find your inner happiness while enjoying a cocktail. Challenge yourself to sleep outside yet protected from the elements in the custom-built lean-to. Or find yourself gazing at the lake on one of the new Adirondack chairs with built-in footrest and rocker.

New for 2022 was a 32' x 6' dock in front of the lean-to. This dock enables you to see a larger portion of the lake while enveloping yourself in nature. Boat docking is available but I must be informed since the lake can get very windy.

The outdoor stone porch area, reached directly from the side entryway, allows for great meals on the picnic table while watching the loons on the lake, as well as camp fire stories at the firepit area in the evening. The deck with BBQ wedge area is perfect for outdoor enjoyment. Lawn games are delightfully played on the expansive lawn in front of the Shotgun Shack, which is the seasonal outbuilding with bunk beds, mini-kitchen & bathroom. All of the water toys (lifejackets, noodles, paddles, wet suits, etc) are for your use and located in outdoor closets attached to the garage.

Upper Chateaugay Lake is regarded as one of the Top Fishing Waters by NY State Department of Environmental Conservation for its Rainbow Trout, Lake Trout, Small Mouth Bass, and Landlocked Salmon.

Kayaking, canoeing, and fishing are idyllic during the morning or evening hours when the lake is glassy, while sailing can be enjoyed when the breeze kicks in during the afternoons. New in 2022 was a 6-pack boat rack for easy carrying. Of course, boating can be enjoyed anytime, and kayaks, canoes, and paddle boards are included in the rental. For the Olympian hopefuls, swimming across the lake is about one and a half miles.

The 2025 newly updated U-turn driveway has great curb appeal with large boulders inviting guests to enjoy their stay at my home. Even during the height of the summer season, you can find peace and true tranquility. I have two neighbors and our houses are far apart: one is blocked by a new wood fence, and the other I can see the side of their house. There are only 594 property owners on the Upper & Lower lakes (9 miles of lake) and most of those are located on the smaller, Lower Lake. On any given hot afternoon in July or August, one can easily count the number of boaters on a single hand for there is little boat traffic on the larger, Upper, of the Chateaugay Lakes.

In essence, my property is very private and secluded, with little external noise except for the wind, birds, waves and the occasional woodpecker and loon.

The main road, Route 374, is three miles away and leads to nearby antique shopping, ice cream stands, restaurants, pizza places, delis, bakeries, convenient stores, farm stands, windmill farms, the NY State boat launch and mountainous hiking trails. Further out, it'll bring you to Malone, fairgrounds, Montreal, Saranac, Lake Placid, Plattsburgh, Vermont, large grocery stores, shopping malls, and movie theaters.

Included in the rental is a three-person canoe, a two-person kayak, two single-person kayaks, two stand-up boards, life vests and noodles, a 8x10 swim float (platform) 100 feet out and in 15' of water. Life vests, noodles, and lawn games are located in a separate, outdoor closets. Suggested boating excursions include paddling to the beginning of the south inlet, at the very end of the Upper Lake, and meandering the waterways to the numerous beaver damns more than a mile in. Or make your way to the infamous sand bar at the edge of the Narrows for a game of frisbee in ankle-deep water and an afternoon picnic on the wide beach. Novices and experts will enjoy the adventures to be had. Also included are portable chairs, plus gas and charcoal BBQ's for outdoor enjoyment. Firewood is bring-your-own.

Lastly, the number of people allowed to stay at my house is limited to a maximum of 6, one king-size bed & one full-size bed in the main house plus a queen-size and a twin in the seasonal Shotgun Shack outbuilding. During the off-season, the ideal number of guests is 4. This is to discourage large parties of people.

Check in time is 2:00 and check out time is 10:00. Peak summer rentals run Saturday to Saturday from the middle of June until Labor Day. Mid-week rentals are available in other months.

You will still have to tidy the place up, empty the refrigerator and remove all of your belongings. My property manager will clean and disinfect all rooms, surfaces, remove the garbage, vacuum, & replace the sheets & towels, which are included in the rental.

The on-line calendar is updated as soon as a reservation is booked and is always up-to-date. I respond to all inquiries within 24 hours except on weekends when I am in the Adirondacks.

What this place is not:
It's not Lake George or Sacandaga Lake with constant boat traffic.
It's not Saratoga Lake with neighbors every 50 feet apart.
It's not Lake Placid with confined tourism.
It's not Chazy Lake, with a main road seen and heard by half the lake of only 3 miles long.
It's not on the Narrows or the Lower lake (of Chateaugay Lake), where the lake is more shallow, congested, and populated.
It's not on the West side, where the sun rises at 6 a.m. during the summer.

What this does not have: extra fees!!

In summary, Upper Chateaugay Lake is by far the biggest and best lake in the northern Adirondacks as well as my home bringing a touch of elegance and grandeur.

Please note: the on-line Google maps shows Hemlock Lane not as a dead-end. It is a dead-end and my house is the second to last house of a total of 6 houses.

'We were very anxious about staying at this cabin and also getting to know this part of the Adirondacks, which we had never been to before this trip. When we first came across this on VRBO, right away we knew it was going to be special. We both felt that it was the right cabin in the right location. Our instinct wasn’t wrong! The house is nestled on this dead-end road, lakefront with spectacular views of the lake. The sunsets are amazing whether you are fishing from the dock or just sitting at the nice platform overlooking the lake relaxing in the comfortable Adirondack chairs. The place is organized and has everything that you could possibly need for cooking, baking, grilling, etc. Then at night you can gaze at the stars sitting by the fire ring enjoying the evening. One of the things that we enjoyed the most every night was to sit by the dock and listen to the sounds of the loons. It was so serene and soothing. The kitchen is well stocked so you only need to bring food. The water area is amazing to say the least. The cabin is fully stocked with many amenities. The water source is a well. The water has been tested and is very refreshing. No need to bring bottled water.

To control extreme temperatures a new hot air furnace/central air conditioner always keeps the cabin comfortable.

- "Very quite lake with light boat traffic. We brought our 11 year old granddaughter and did all of the ADK attractions. We managed to dock our old 19 ft bowrider at the property dock with a little creativity. The house / lake combination was very nice. At 64 I get up twice a night to use the restroom, so it was a little inconvenient to walk down the stairs with my eyes half open to use the bathroom. This was our first visit to the area, and we loved it."

Get away from it all and enjoy the northern woods and a large pristine lake in this off the grid, very private, architect-designed, spacious contemporary home. From each room you can enjoy the surroundings through glass sliding doors which open into the woods. The Great Room has a large stone fireplace and an open dining area. Take a short walk down a path to the water for swimming and boating on beautiful, clean Upper Chateaugay Lake. All power is by generator, with propane refrigerator, stove, and hot water.

It being a ways outside of town, we brought more than we probably needed, but the few items we did forget were at the house for our using. Keep in mind that this is more of an off grid, rustic spot. Karen, the owner, was very pleasant to speak with. My only advice to future renters- the road to the house is very tight and grown in and extremely bumpy. So be ready for that. If you are towing, I would advise to drive to the house without the trailer first. I had a large boat (26-28' with the trailer) and almost could not get turned around to get back out. Some of the turns were so tight, I was breaking tree branches as I went through. Overall though, we had a nice, relaxing time and would certainly rent here again. Thank you."

- "We and our friends (4 adults and 4 teens) had a wonderful 10 days on Silver Lake. The house is super comfy, and we spent a lot of time in the living room and on the porch overlooking the lake. There was some motorboat traffic on the lake, especially on the weekend, but it was generally quite quiet and the loons serenaded us each evening. The kitchen was well-equipped and we had everything we needed to make most of our meals. Owner was easy to communicate with, no problems at all with check-in. Only way to improve the place would be with a gas grill and a foosball table (but that's just us). Loved it. We hope to be back!"

Wonderful 4-season adirondack lakefront log home on private and secluded Bass Lake, Franklin County. Bass Lake is a private, non-motorized, serene 8-acre lake. No jet skis to disturb your restful peace and quiet enjoyment of 450 feet of lakefront with your own private dock and screened gazebo.

The Lodge is a six bedroom, 3 bath house which can accommodate up to 15 guests at a time. On the first floor, the North Woods Suite has a king bed and en-suite bathroom; the Kitchen area has a large dining table that can seat 10, and the great room has a fireplace, large screen TV with new 2022 installed Starlink satellite reception much improved over prior years, Game Table, sofa, comfy chairs. On the second floor is a full bathroom and three bedrooms: the Skylight Room has three skylights and a queen bed sleeping two; Hucks Hideaway has a queen and three twin size, the Bear Cave has bunk bed of two twins and a queen. On lower level is Lakeview room with a queen, the Pines with a queen, bathroom with shower, and a game room with folding ping pong table, remote controlled propane fireplace, wet bar, mini fridge, and large screen TV, easy access to waterfront.

Three mile long Loon Lake is a private lake just down the road, with a beach and boat launch residents and guests at Bass Lake may enjoy. The Lodge is also close to Silver Lake, Rainbow Lake, miles of hiking, biking, paddling, and some of the best year round fishing in the area.

Plenty of winter sports as well: Cross country and downhill skiing, snowshoeing/hiking trails right from property (we have a few pair in the Lodge), snowmobiling, and ice skating. Secluded location, yet just 20 miles north of Saranac Lake, 28 miles to world famous Lake Placid/Whiteface Mountain, and about 30 minutes to quieter Titus Mountain - a wonderful family oriented ski resort. Lake Placid, home of the 1980 Winter Olympics, is a thriving town with dining, shopping, and entertainment options. The town really comes alive in the winter, with speed skating on the outdoor oval at the high school, and toboggan runs down to the lake. The stores hold many interesting Adirondack crafts and antiques. Whiteface Mountain boasts over 283 acres of skiable terrain, 86 trails and 11 lifts. Experience the greatest vertical drop east of the Rockies at one of the Adirondack Mountains legendary High Peaks. Whiteface is known for its beautiful panoramic mountain scenery, technical terrain, and award-winning family resort amenities; from beginner bunny trails to challenging expert terrain you will find there is skiing and snowboarding trails for all ages and abilities.

Whether sitting at the kitchen table, before the expansive glass doors looking out to the lake, enjoying the sun on the wraparound porch deck, or relaxing in the screened in porch, the Lake is always in view. Enjoy the call of the loons while seated around the fire pit as the milky way shimmers overhead. The lake is pristine, clean, and clear; the bottom is sandy with a gradual drop off. For your use are a canoe, a kayak, a tandem pedal boat, as well as life jackets. There is a gas grill for cooking and an outdoor fire pit. In the great room is a new LG 65 inch smart tv, an assortment of over 50 DVDs, Starlink satellite internet connection, a digital piano keyboard for the kids, and a ping pong table in the basement.

There are many thousands of miles of hiking and biking trails right outside the door and we are in a great location for day hikes to some of the ADK high peaks or other beautiful mountains. Hiking books are available at the Lodge to plan your trip or ask us for recommendations. Locally famous is Crusher Mountain at the north end of Loon lake. It is a very short hike (15-20 minutes) to the top with a fabulous view of the entire lake and Whiteface Mountain in the background. Loon lake Mountain trailhead, a nice day hike, is three and a half miles down the road. The recently maintained and well-marked trail takes you up to one of the original Adirondack fire towers at the summit. This hike is about 6 miles round trip but offers amazing views of the wilderness. More strenuous hikes like Debar and Ampersand Mountain are 40 minutes away. For hard core adventurers, the high peaks wilderness is less than an hour away.

Go fishing on Loon Lake for Large Mouth bass, Small Mouth and Northern Pike! There are also places to fish for trout within 10 minutes of the Lodge.Take a day trip to Saranac Lake, or even Montreal. There are some great restaurants in town, lots of cool shops and many tourist attractions. Don’t forget to make a stop at Hex & Hops Brewery & Taproom just 15 mins away in neighboring Bloomingdale for some amazing craft beers and seasonal live musical entertainment. Maybe take a trip back in time and ride the rails on the ADK Railroad. The Wild Center in Tupper Lake is a nature museum, which is fun for the whole family and is located about 35 minutes away. Even closer is the Paul Smith's Visitors Interpretive Center, which is a great place to see wildlife in nature and learn about the local ecology. The Adirondack Museum in Blue Mountain Lake is a gem, a great place for kids to learn about and experience the history and exceptional nature of the entire ADK region. Gorgeous lakefront home on Union Falls Lake- only 16 miles from Whiteface Mountain. 5 bedrooms with open an open space concept plan with large downstairs recreation room and a gym. Wonderful to walk out the large deck and snowshoe, cross country ski, snowmobile or ice fish right on the lake. Spend a day at Whiteface or Lake Placid and come home and relax by the wonderful fireplace.

The house itself was equally cozy and spacious; the main floor had an open floor plan, and bedrooms were all a great size. The two separate living spaces really came in handy so the little ones and adults could each have their own space when needed. The lake is great for fishing, and we caught several each day. - "Our grandchildren were counting the days to our vacation at the big red house. They were not disappointed. Everyone fell in love with the place and anticipates returning for many years to come." - "This house could easily sleep 22 people but we found it to be just fine for our group of 8. We very much enjoyed the waterfront and all the boat options (kayak, canoe, rowboat) The large lawn has plenty of flat areas on which to play badminton and corn hole which we brought with us. We used the outside fire pit often during our stay and it is surrounded by very nice, sturdy & comfortable Adirondack chairs from LL Bean which 2 of us now wish to look for and purchase for our own homes. There are several bedrooms & beds (some very firm-some very soft) so you can try out several and decide which is the most comfortable for you. As the listing states the house uses propane and can be very dark inside. A few of the lights were not working (and later the propane fueled refrigerator) for the first few days of our stay but the owner apologized and had the repairmen out to fix them which helped to brighten the rooms in the evening. The main fireplace is absolutely beautiful and we used it many times as the nights sometimes were cool. Wood was available and plentiful for both indoor & outdoor fires. The house is very well furnished with cooking items and games so save your vehicle space as you really don't need to pack any of these items. The large porches have lots of comfortable seating and the sunrise and sunset views from the porch are fantastic. The owner Karen was very helpful and available for any needs that we had. She also had great recommendations for dining and trail/walking areas. We are big walkers and took walks daily. There is a very long dining room table in the dining area that we used for both meals and to play numerous family games and cards every night. The history of the house is quite interesting and there are many books to read if you are looking for a relaxing, lazy day indoors or on the porch. If you, like us, are quite content with the older, rustic, camp experience this house will not disappoint! Thank you Karen and hope to venture out your way again!!"

This location features the seclusion of a beautifully built cabin on a wooded lot along with our own seperate waterfront property for private access to Loon Lake. The waterfront property is a 10 minute walk from the cabin, or you can drive down or ride a bike.
It features a private gazebo, surrounded in pine trees and a nice deep water dock.
There is great fishing right off the dock. Watercraft included for use... 2 canoes, 2 kayaks, and 3 stand up paddle boards.
There are approximately 3 acres of woods to explore as well attached to the main cabin property.

We have enjoyed this cabin as renters every summer since 2006 and we now are so happy to own it. This area is very special and full of amazing adventures to experience. Loon Lake is an extremelely quiet, private lake. The surrounding mountains and wilderness are the absolute best that the Adirondacks have to offer.

This cabin was designed and built by an architect from Montreal in the late 90's. I think his original listing best describes the cabin...

"Mountainlake Camp" was conceived in December 1996 as a peaceful, recreational, year-round getaway in the Adirondack Mountains for two couples or a small family. The area around the town of Loon Lake was chosen for its secluded beauty and rich history.

The Camp buildings were designed to have little impact on the land and to blend naturally with the surrounding forest and mountains. The buildings also attempt to reflect the heritage of Loon Lake in the use of materials, proportions and details which were "borrowed" from historic structures there.

The Camp itself is a study in building on a compact "footprint": environmental impact was minimized by limited site disturbance and use of materials. Also, very important to the design, it was possible to complete the project within one year of conception using the owners¹ own labor to finish a builders 'shell'.
Throughout the design process, much thought was devoted to layout, dimensions, proportions and the use and placement of materials to create a compact building with the feel and facilities of a larger home.

The conception, design and building process was a rewarding experience. In 2003 we acquired our own direct access to Loon Lake. "Mountainlake Lookout" is located a short drive from the camp. There you will find a screened Gazebo and our own docks. At the Lookout you can enjoy beautiful Adirondack views including a classic Boathouse. Use the Lookout for a picnic lunch or swim and canoe from the docks.

The cabin has a queen bed in a master bedroom downstairs, a full bed upstairs in the loft, and 2 twin beds in the loft as well. The loft is seperated by a stained class partition. All mattresses are brand new in the spring of 24.' There is a queen blow up mattress in the closet as well as a sofa bed.

There is a TV and Playstation 4 upstairs. There are lot's of games and streaming channels set up on the TV. The cabin has high speed (200mbps+) unlimited Starlink Internet. The internet is great for web surfing, streaming movies, and texting. It is OK for wifi calling and Zoom but will lag sometimes. This is due to the trees surrounding the house.

There is a full bath downstairs, with a walk in shower and a half bath upstairs. The bathrooms are clean and simple with plenty of storage and are fully stocked. The downstairs bathroom has a fully equipped commercial grade first aid kit.

The cabin has a fully equipped kitchen and there is a nice weber gas grill outside. The cabin has well water and it is safe to drink. There is a brita as well. There are a Keurig with pods as well as a drip coffee maker.

Unfortunetely, we are not able to include bedding/towels at this time. The cabin now has a nice new LG washer/combo front loading machine with detergent included.

Outside there is a nice deck, with new poly-wood adirondack chairs. The cabin is surrounded by beautiful mature trees. There is a fire pit and plenty of extra chairs.
The cabin is tucked away a distance from the road.

Nearby, there are countless lakes, rivers, and mountains to explore. Maps and material are included so you can plan out your trips. Nearby attractions are Lake Placid, Saranac Lake, Whiteface Mountain, and the High Peaks. Loon Lake Mountain is right up the road. This Summit has breathtaking views of the area. Silver Lake Mountain is 15 minutes away and it a spectacular mountain for young kids. There are great restaurants and shopping in Saranac Lake 20 minutes from Loon Lake.

Historic Adirondack camp built in 1902. Property on 6 acres with direct lakefront access. Boat house and dock. Guests have use of a canoe, rowboat (Adirondack Guide Boat) and inflatable kayak. Large living room with wood burning fireplace and full kitchen downstairs. 5 bedrooms and bath upstairs. Large screened in front porch and smaller side screened porch. Games, puzzles and movies available to enjoy in the evening, but the stargazing is amazing.
Lake Placid, Saranac, Ausable Chasm, Malone Golf Course as well as several colleges and universities all within an hours' drive. This camp is a family camp which we rent for a few weeks a year when we are not able to be up there to allow others to enjoy it as much as we do. No parties allowed

The space
Kick back and relax in this calm, quiet lakefront lodge located in the Adirondacks. This property is newly renovated specifically with our guests in mind. Each bedroom includes extra blankets and pillows for comfort and mirrors in all bedrooms in attempts to help keep the bathrooms less crowded. Bedrooms are outfitted with blackout blinds, so no early morning wake ups on vacation! All televisions in the house have basic cable channels and are smart TVs or have a Roku remote, so you can sign into any streaming service you desire. The kitchen is fully stocked with baking sheets, crock pots, ample pots and pans, cutting boards, an air fryer, blender, toaster, coffee maker and wine glasses for every person in your party. There are multiple large decks, a screened in area and a patio on the lower level. The first floor deck and walk out patio area are equipped with propane grills and outdoor seating areas for family feasts, and let’s not forget the hot tub and fire pit overlooking beautiful Chazy Lake. Iron Ore Lodge makes a perfect year round retreat whether it be for snowmobiling, riding side-by-sides, snowshoeing or hiking nearby trails, ice fishing or soaking up the summer sun!!

Guest access:
The house has a wifi-enabled lock with a personal entry code given to the guests for check-in. The codes expire at the end of each reservation. Enjoy the entire lodge and outdoor amenities all to yourself. There is a large garage, in addition there is room for 4-6 vehicles in the driveway and parking area. Guests will not have access to two interior storage closets and two utility rooms located in the garage.

Other things to note:
There are two exterior security cameras on the property. One, Ring Doorbell, facing the driveway on the front door entrance of the house and one facing the lake on the lakeside entrance. These are for us to verify cleaners and handymen have prepared the property for your stay! The Ring Doorbell on the front will remain active for your entire stay. The camera on the lake side is only active when guests aren’t at the property. In addition, you will use the keypad located near the front door wifi-enabled lock to gain access to the property. There is a security system that is active only when guests are not on the property. Please do not touch the security system keypads located inside the front door, the basement entrance from the garage and the master bedroom.

Where Is the Rental?

Our Lakefield Cottage is located on Rt 26 on Loon Lake in Vermontville, NY. It is a lakefront property with 100 feet of private waterfront and you will have your own dock. The home is in a secluded and sizable cove.

How Many People will the Rental Accommodate?

The cottage sleeps 5. The master bedroom has a king sized bed the other bedroom has a single and double bed.

About the House

You will be surrounded by Adirondack décor. The home is newly renovated throughout, and you are just steps from the lake. We supply you with everything you need to in the new kitchen from pots and pans, microwave, coffee pot, hot water pot, utensils, measuring cups, etc. We even supply you with a large array of spices. We just installed a new gas fireplace/stove to help take the chill off. The temperature is controlled with a thermostat and all of the rooms also have baseboard heat, each with their own thermometer.

We provide 2 new kayaks, a row boat and a paddle board for your use. Of course, we also supply new life vests.

What to Do?

As of 12/31/2024 the ice on the lake was 4" deep. Since then the temperature has been in the teens and single digits. I would think the ice depth is 6" or more. If you do go out on the ice, please drill a hole to ensure the thickness of the ice. Similarly, a lot of folks go cross country skiing on the lake. Please exercise caution when going out on the ice, especially if the temperature during the day has been significantly above freezing. As of 1/6/2025, the lake is seeing a high in the low teens and a low below zero. That weather should be around for the foreseeable future. Bring a jacket!

Depending on the time of year and the weather, it is fun to begin the day with either a hike to any one of the local mountains or, simply walk out to the dock which is only a few steps from the back door and hop in the boat and go fishing or go for a swim. Too much exercise? Make a cup of coffee and fish off the dock for Northern Pike, Largemouth, Smallmouth Bass and Perch. If you are a fisherman/fisherwoman, just ping me if you are going to rent and I'll share the spots where I've had luck and what I used. You can use either a row boat we have, the paddle board or our kayaks (2). If you want to stay in, we have tons of board games for your use. If you want to bring your own trolling motor or fish finder for the row boat, please feel free to do so. Otherwise, you can get in a little exercise rowing around the lake to find a fish or two. Please note, renters are not allowed to bring their own boats. Just want to relax? You can light a fire in the firepit on the deck, go birding, watch any of the hundreds of channels we have on the TV or just surf using our new fiber WIFI.

Note, we are just a 30 second walk to a sandy beach which is ideal for swimming or just relaxing.

Not Into Fishing?

Hiking is huge around the house. You can set off on foot or drive to a nearby mountain and enjoy the view. The Milky Way is brilliant at night. I would encourage you to download an app for your cellphone so you can point it at the sky to identify all the constellations you are seeing. To digress a bit, we mentioned that we are on a secluded cove. From our house which sits on a sizeable cove, you can see no other homes. No worries about loud neighbors or other renters. The only noise you might hear would be a Woodpecker or the Loons. Oh, do be on the lookout for American Bald Eagles. They circle the cove at random and are magnificent to see. If you need a break from nature, we have WiFi and a smart TV. We generally have enough bandwidth to accommodate a few kids playing online games, streaming TV and a Zoom call all at the same time. Also, please feel free to use the WiFi to make calls on your cell phone.

You've Enjoyed Nature, Now What?

Saranac Lake has some wonderful restaurants and establishments that serve adult beverages. Lake Placid is a quick drive away with lots of shops, restaurants and brew pubs. Even closer to the cottage, please visit https://www.hexandhop.com/ which is about a 15 minute drive away. Great food and great craft brews. As well, there is a new brew pub and restaurant in Saranac Lake.

We spent years visiting the Adirondacks and made note of all the things we liked and disliked. We have tried to capture the Adirondack experience while also supplying our guests with modern amenities.

It is located right next to Dannemora prison which and there is not much in the town other than the prison however it is a good place to stay if you want to hike or explore nearby. There is also a Dunkin’ Donuts and a pizza shop right next to the place which was convenient."
