- "Was booked into the Holyoke room for two nights. Lovely to open the window while sleeping and hear the falls. The industrial decor suits the place. Felt the staff I met (Gail, Marsha, Shannon) were welcoming and friendly. Breakfast in their cafe was delicious. My only complaint is the walls are quite thin and I could hear snoring or conversations in the room next door. Would not deter me from staying here again though. Thank you for a great two night getaway!"

- "Really lovely place and organized with check in process! Common areas very welcoming and the breakfast service was friendly and super delicious. Only suggestion was to have a 2nd chair in guest room for 2 people, and a box of tissues handy. Lots of other conveniences were nice though. Coffee was super delicious local roasted! Thank you for nice stay. " - "Loved the beautiful area" - "Wonderful place, staff, and breakfast. I was not aware that my room would not have an attached bathroom (although it was private). Not sure how to determine this ahead of time, as I would rebook here if I had one of the rooms with a bathroom. Thank you for a great stay."

Then on the way out we left a cell phone in the unit and James went out of his way to get us in to retrieve it." - "Excellent facility for the money. However I missed the fact it was a 2nd and 3rd floor walk up when I booked it. We are 83 & 75 yrs. and the stairs were difficult for us and for our two small dogs. - "Such a sweet and comfortable place for a little getaway! Very clean and the accommodations exceeded all my expectations ! Great area! Lots of things to do and explore." - "From the beginning through our entire stay of 21/2 weeks, Manon and Frank, the owners who live in the house that is attached to the apartment, did everything to make our stay comfortable and wonderful! They were in excellent communication with us before and during our stay. They were willing to help us with a couple of questions about the apt., and they were incredibly accommodating about our requests. The full kitchen has a stove and oven, refrigerator, microwave, sink, and every kind of pot, plate and silverware that you could possibly need. I was even able to do some baking because of the electric mixer that was provided and mixing bowl! The living room is very comfortable. The TV is an updated one, and cable works very well. I was able to have some zoom meetings with their Internet. It’s very quiet - excellent for sleeping and resting! The whole apt. and bathroom were very clean! There is a lovely private screened in porch attached to the apartment, which looks out onto the back lawn and the pool. It’s too bad we weren’t there in the summer so we could use the lovely pool! The neighborhood is suburban and rural with gorgeous farmland and woods to take walks and bike rides around right outside your door. There is excellent shopping 20 minutes away, in nearby Hadley and Amherst MA (5 college area), with wonderful locally owned restaurants, as well as chain type restaurants. It is very close to the Yankee candle flagship store, as well as a local very popular microbrewery that has outdoor seating as well as indoor seating. Manon and her husband are the most delightful people and VRBO owners! We feel very lucky that their apt. was available for our stay! Thank you so very much!⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️👍🏻🙂"

Peaceful log cabin apartment on 8 acre property. Beautiful gardens, fall foliage, and steps away from Atkins Reservoir and Robert Frost Trails. Great area for hiking and biking! 5 minutes from Amherst College and UMass. Close to Hampshire College, Smith College, and Mount Holyoke as well.
Our listing is Northeast of the campuses, which is awesome for high traffic travel times. Most people visiting these campuses are coming from the other directions.
Even though we are within 5 minutes of the Colleges and Amherst Center, we are nestled on the North side of Mount Boreas, kitty-corner to the Atkins Reservoir, and steps away from Robert Frost Trails. You will find yourself surrounded by quiet wilderness and only a short drive to everything else you need.
You have private access to the pool house/cozy cabin which includes entryway, main living area, kitchen, bathroom, and bedroom. In addition, you may use the deck around the apartment. Please enjoy the patio furniture we have provided. You will also have shared access to the pool area during the day (Last week of May through First Week of September). For safety reasons, we ask that you do not swim after dark. We may need to open the pool late or close early due to weather, schedules, etc.
The guest door is located halfway around the right side of the home (in a little alcove). This is your private entrance. You will be provided a keyless entry code before you arrive. This gives you the freedom to check in anytime between 3p and 12a and check out anytime before noon.
The bathroom has a walk-in 1 person shower stall. There is no bathtub available.
Some cell phone carriers have limited service at our listing. We have provided a landline that is available for unlimited calling in the US and Canada. You are more than welcome to share the landline number with those that you need to keep in contact with. Please just share your check out dates with them, so they do not call future guests :).
We also provide free WIFI, so you can connect your mobile devices for access to internet-based communication applications.
Free Parking in the driveway for up to two cars. Public transit is available with the nearest bus stop just over 1 mile from our location through the PVTA bus line.
- "We very much enjoyed the peace and quiet of this location, as well as the well-stocked kitchen and kind gestures (such as the bag of cider donuts on arrival along with some cold bottled water.) Heather was easy to communicate with and Betsy was wonderfully attentive and responsive. We highly recommend this cute little pool house, perhaps especially for a couple." - "This was a lovely place just a short distance away from the bustle of campus life. We thoroughly enjoyed the quiet and cozy amenities and the warm hospitality of our hosts. We look forward to returning!"

- "Beautiful house and gardens. We all enjoyed it." - "Loved the large garden, variety of birds and wildlife. Very spacious inside and out. The kids had a blast with the pool table and piano. If I’m ever in the area again, I would love to stay again." - "I stayed here for new years with friends and we all loved Evergreen. I wish I could have seen the garden in season, because even in winter it was still beautiful and all the indoor plants made it feel like it was spring anyway. The kitchen and baths had everything we needed and the beds were very comfortable. The stars are highly visible and there's nothing better than relaxing in a hot tub looking at the crisp night sky. Thank you John!"

- "Our 4 nights here were enjoyable, we only were here to sleep as we were in a class during the day. The neighborhood was quiet and the back yard on the river was inviting. The fire pit was massive so we didn’t think we could manage it. Should have messaged the host. I didn’t know it was bunk beds, and would have preferred a regular size bed in the second bedroom. Had to block the light from outside with a drape. Would have liked a screen door for air on both front and back doors. Great kitchen!"

- "Peaceful river surrounding, definitely recommended everything close by." - "This was a great place to stay for us-close to where we needed to go. Unfortunately we were so busy we didn’t really get a chance to enjoy it-but slept great when we were there!" - "This cute, spacious, and minimalist apartment had everything we needed: beautiful river views. It was too cold when we visited, but it must be excellent in the spring and summer. There are a few little restaurants within walking distance and a brewery. We recommend the North Village Smoked House for BBQ; we order twice from them. The only issue we had was that the refrigerator was not working correctly. We used a nature refrigerator, and all was well."

- "I came to spend a couple days with my son who goes to college nearby. It was a cold damp weekend, but the place was warm and cozy. I found the space to be more than enough for me, but had the boys come to visit for one lunch and it was perfect. They enjoyed walking the property to see the horses (we are usually city folks ourselves.) I did not get to meet the hosts, but everything was explained clearly about check-in and I had no issues at all. The bed was very comfortable for me and the shower was excellent. I was exhausted from some difficult travel days and couldn't have been more comfortable in this rental. I would absolutely recommend, especially if you love horses. They were a healthy gorgeous looking stable and one seemed very happy to get a few pats on the head from me. I'd say it's perfect for a couple, or young family with small children. They will be hearing from me again."

My 89 year old mother had her tea each morning in the inviting screened in porch and we all loved gathering and cooking in the good sized kitchen. After looking at crazy hotel prices, the home was actually more affordable for our 3 night stay. Plenty of bathrooms and bedrooms; my husband and I particularly liked the dormer bedroom and bath. The kitchen has everything you need and it doesn't feel like random junk from an old house was used to stock it. The office is great and the living room is bright and airy. We plan to come again soon! This is a great home base for the area and well situated in the center of town." - "This new property is beautiful! My husband and I stayed for a few days and loved the amount of space! The off-street parking space was nice too. Check-in and out was very easy. THE nicest short term rental in the Five College area!
Our home is conveniently located 10 minutes away from the UMass Amherst and Amherst College campuses. We have a swing set, tennis court, basketball court, and hot tub in our backyard. Our home would be a great place for a large visiting family to spend time in Western Massachusetts.
There are six bedrooms.. The master bedroom is a suite with a walk-in closet as well as a private bathroom. There are two other full bathrooms on the second floor.
The third floor is a large open space with many toys and games for the kids. We also have a TV viewing area for the whole family to congregate. This is our favorite area of the house.
In the basement we have a brand new exercise room with a treadmill, peloton and free weights.
Graduation season is by far our most inquired about time and perfect for extended family. We are also open to other short-term and long-term rentals.

- "This house was great for a group of classmates back at Amherst for out 40th college reunion. We had a nice dinner on the porch, took advantage of the excellent air conditioning, and enjoyed having comfortable private space. Much better than camping in a dorm room, and enough to attract some infrequent reunion attendees back to the Pioneer Valley." - "Very spacious house with lots of options for activities. Close to Deerfield, Route 9 and area colleges. We really enjoyed our weekend at the house!"

- "We rented Sean’s place for overflow guests at a weekend celebration and they raved about everything. The house is beautiful, super comfortable, spotless, and well-appointed without being at all cluttered. They were thrilled with the thoughtful coffee selection for the Keurig and were impressed with the tools and appliances in the kitchen since they had some cooking to do for the parties at our house. All in all a very relaxing and pleasant stay. One note: the house was clearly recently built, so the shrubbery or fencing we’re sure Sean is planning isn’t in yet and the property is a little bare, but in March in New England they didn’t spend any time outside so it didn’t detract at all from their stay. Can’t wait to see further enhancements to the yard; they are sure to be equally wonderful. Thanks, Sean — we will be back!"

Note - for summer 2024, through August, I am only accepting short bookings of up to 3 days.
The space
My primary room is comfortably furnished with a queen-sized futon bed, reading chair, night stand, desk, and floor space for yoga. Wireless internet is provided. A discount is offered for longer visits.

We have another little guest room with a super comfortable queen bed, which is perfect for couples or solo travelers looking for a cozy and comfortable space to call their own. (We've fit a pack and play comfortably in here too.)
And even though the bathroom is small, it's been recently DIYed and has everything you need for a refreshing shower after a day of lake fun.
Outside, we have a small yard, deck (with a grill), and a private dock where you can cast a line and try your luck at fishing, or just sit back and soak in the tranquility of the lake. We have a paddle boat, 2 kayaks, a canoe, and life jackets for you to use. And of course, we can't forget about the stunning sunsets - they're a nightly spectacle that you won't want to miss.
We're so proud of our Happy Valley Lake House and hope you'll love it just as much as we do. Come and experience the beauty of lakeside living for yourself - we can't wait to host you!
