Renowned as one of the finest market towns in the Cotswolds, Chipping Campden is instantly recognisable by its beautiful limestone townhouses which frame the iconic High Street. No prettier an example is Singer House; an elegant, ivy-strewn two-story townhouse neatly nestled in the heart of the town, just a stone's throw from the famous ‘Wool Church.' A real home away from home, it's easy to see why Singer House sees the same guests returning year after year to soak in its surroundings.
Sleeping up to six guests across three beautifully appointed bedrooms, each of which is charmingly decorated in its own individual style, Singer House is the perfect choice for families, couples, or small groups in search of a relaxing escape with everything you could need on the doorstep. Magazine-worthy interiors expertly blend the period with the contemporary for a distinctly boutique feel, with a wonderfully large sitting room, open-plan kitchen/diner, and separate dining room affording guests plenty of space within which to unwind.
Best of all, the kitchen's stunning glass doorway hides one of the prettiest courtyard gardens that you're ever likely to see; a private little hideaway from the hubbub of the High Street, framed by Cotswold-stone walls and lush topiary at every corner. A real suntrap no matter what the season, it's the perfect spot to unwind with a sundowner or enjoy a feast courtesy of the firepit BBQ; if the many foodie haunts of Chipping Campden can't tempt you away, that is.
Expertly blending the period with the contemporary, the real beauty of this townhouse lies behind its Cotswold stone exteriors. Stepping inside from the High Street directly into the soft lighting of the flagstone-floored hallway, you'll immediately get a sense of the townhouse's history; charming nods to years gone by evident in the ironwork lamps, period artwork, and decorative hunting paraphernalia adorning the walls. To the hallway's right-hand side sits a show-stopping sitting room. A real masterpiece of refinement, this elegant retreat overlooks Chipping Campden's High Street through shuttered bay windows, boasting sumptuous cream sofas, bookcase-lined walls, traditional period artwork, and tasteful antique furniture, plus a huge central open fire for cosy nights in.
Following on at the end of the hallway, you'll find a spacious kitchen/diner, plus a compact but very well-equipped utility room complete with a hidden WC. Modern and traditional in equal measure, the attractive shaker-style kitchen is flooded with natural light thanks to a stunning glass extension, opening-up directly into its hidden courtyard garden. For relaxed dining, a rustic banquette dining table in the kitchen is the perfect spot, with a handsome formal dining room found to the rear of the house.
Upstairs, three generous bedrooms offer an elegant space for up to six guests to rest their heads. The first, found just at the top of the staircase, is the embodiment of Cotswold-chic; country-grey hues adorning the walls, a dainty glass chandelier hanging between exposed beams over an antique French double bed. Next to the home's family bathroom sits bedroom two, completely different in style thanks to the framed artwork of musicians from years gone by covering the walls, plus a glass Juliet balcony overlooking the courtyard garden. The large master of the house is a nod to turn-of-the-century luxury, boasting high ceilings, a separate seating area around a beautiful marble fireplace, huge picture windows overlooking the High Street below, and its own in-room roll-top bath. A sleek en-suite affords the space with even more privacy, making it the perfect room for romantics in search of R&R.

Outside

Entirely private thanks to the classic Cotswold limestone walls which enclose it, this dainty little suntrap offers a peaceful retreat from the hubbub of the High Street. Here you'll find French-style patio furniture and a firepit BBQ for al fresco dining, with lush topiary, crawling Ivy vines, and well-cared-for flowers making the space as pretty as a picture.

Renovated in Spring 2020, this cosy cottage is part of the Kiftsgate estate in the north Cotswolds. Kiftsgate Court Gardens and Hidcote Gardens are walking distance away for visits over the spring and summer months and over autumn and winter you can take in the beautiful views over the countryside as you walk to either Ilmington or Ebrington and enjoy a pub lunch and a well deserved drink. Chipping Campden and Broadway are 15 and 20 mins away by car and Stratford-upon-Avon is also 20 mins away.
- "Luxury accommodation with well equipped kitchen and all other amenities. We came to paint in the Kiftsgate Court Court gardens which were closed to the public but fortunately we were able to access them on Friday." - "Very clean, perfectly situated, well presented cottage. A very thoughtful owner who was welcoming and provided fo all our needs" - "If you’re staying in the Cotswolds, the Lodge at Kiftsgate Court Gardens and its environs can’t be beat. The house is an historic gem. You get a sense of what is was like to live here centuries ago, but with the comforts of the 21st century. It has been exceptionally maintained, and the recent renovation makes the home very comfortable with all modern amenities, including strong WiFi. It was impeccably clean. Luxurious linens and towels are provided. The beds were dream-inducing comfortable. A large bathroom has a full length tub with a gorgeous view of the fields typical of the region. In the mornings, we’d take our coffee from the sizable, updated kitchen with dining area to sit outside in the hedge-enclosed garden, enjoying the baa-ing of the sheep and the coo-ing of the mourning birds. Near the garden door, we discovered a lemon balm shrub to use in afternoon tea. We visited when the temperatures were beginning to rise into the record-breaking heat wave. But the house is kept cool by the very thick plaster walls and high ceilings. Rob kept up excellent communications with us, with good instructions at the house, including places to catch a meal in the area. He was promptly responsive to our questions. In short, he made everything easy to settle-in quickly and to get our bearings. The location is magical. While nestled in the quintessential Cotswold countryside, it’s also on the grounds of one of the most beautiful botanical gardens I’ve ever seen, the Kiftsgate Court Gardens. And the sheep-dotted vistas from this vantage point are stunning. Rob provides tickets for free entry. You can catch lunch or afternoon tea there too! Adjacent to the property is access to walking paths. Rob provides laminated surveyor’s maps which are necessary for hiking the region. On our first evening hike there, an owl greeted us with a swoop across our path. Words cannot describe adequately the glorious views from these walks. Sometimes they will take you along sheep paths where you can almost reach out and pet the sheep who use them. You can even hike to a nearby hamlet or town for a meal at a pub or restaurant. There’s easy access surrounding towns by car. During our short stay, we visited Shakespeare’s birthplace in Stratford-upon-Avon, delightful Chipping Campden, and Broadway for fine shopping (including Cotswold Chocolates and the Distillery). I strongly recommend Rob’s property. I would stay here again!"

The location was perfect, 5 minutes walk to town. The garden was lovely [partridges visited often], and Barry was such a generous host - even providing a substantial welcome hamper that allowed us to settle in and not need to run straight out to shop. The home is lovely, Barry is lovely and we couldn't have asked for a better experience. We'll be back!"

- "Wonderfully roomy and clean property with beautiful views across the countryside. Beds were super comfy and kitchen was well stocked. Even managed to cook a Christmas dinner for a large family gathering. Getting the right shower temperature proved a little tricky but it didn’t dampen our spirits at this superb accommodation. Rob was also very communicative and always happy to help where needed. " - "The Courtyard at Kiftsgate is simply fabulous. The 3 bedroom apartment not only met every need of 4 adults during our recent stay, but did so in style. The renovated kitchen is slick yet practical, and when we felt a bit more formal we used the generously-sized dining room--quite a rarity for a VRBO property. OR, you can pop down into the cafe for a quick lunch, or even nibble your sandwich on a bench in the lower garden. All four of us lounged comfortably in the living room and took advantage of the fireplace on a particularly chilly evening, which Rob made especially easy with a big basket of kindling and firewood. The beds and bedding are of superior quality, and with the leaded glass windows flung open to let in the crisp air, garden scents, and QUIET, we felt fully immersed in the ideal experience of the English countryside. What makes the Courtyard exceptional, however, is its location and the views. From its perch in the large house, just about every room of the apartment looks onto the legendary Kiftsgate gardens and the Malvern hills. We found ourselves gathering for the sunsets and the twinkling lights of Mickelton in the evenings, and took note of the new blossoms in the sunk garden every morning. Thoroughly enchanting. Chipping Campen itself is a charming town, with restaurants and shops(we loved the Bakewell bars and Victoria sponge from Bantam Tea Room), but should you desire more adventure it is well-situated for exploring the Cotswolds. Train stations in Honeybourne or Moreton-in-Marsh make further exploring easy, even for these first-time visitors. Rob is an extremely polite, attentive, and responsive host. He has thoroughly thought through the guest experience, from the quality of the bath towels to dishwasher/washing machine tabs. He even graced our arrival with a lovely bouquet from the garden and a bottle of prosecco. Check-in was effortless, and he quickly answered every question to our complete satisfaction. We cannot recommend the Courtyard or Rob highly enough, and eagerly await a future visit."

The space
Would you like to experience authentic rural England ?
There is not a better location than an old Saxon hamlet originally listed in the Domesday Book in the picturesque rolling hills of the North Cotswolds. There is not a better place there than a room in our 17 century farm house with its original features - beamed ceilings, inglenook fireplace, AGA cooker.
Our house imaginatively called 'The Old House', was built just after the chaos caused locally by the English Civil War in the second half of the seventeenth century. It has been updated a little since then though, so it will suit people who appreciate and respect the "old".
This listing is for our largest bedroom, the 'Pink Bedroom' - pink rose not pink Barbie! It sleeps two in a king-size bed. The room has its own en-suite. The offer is on a B&B basis. There is free car parking on site.
We also have the Yellow Room, which is smaller but also has a double bed and an en-suite.
There is free wifi for catching up with news and updates on your own device.
We can direct you to one of the many eating options less than 10 minutes’ drive away. We can also send you our local restaurant recommendations.
From here you can access the beautiful North Cotswolds. In less than 20 minutes driving you can get to any of the following - Chipping Campden, Stow on the Wold, Bourton on the Water, Moreton in the Marsh, Upper and Lower Slaughter. In the other direction there is Shakespeare County of Warwickshire and Stratford on Avon, Warwick, Leamington Spa. Hidcote is about 15 minutes by car from Stratford where you can enjoy the theatre, the restaurants or just a lovely walk by the river.
We have more than 100 fruit trees in the garden of different sorts. These include many varieties of apples, pears, plums, gages, sour and sweet cherries, quinces - these are quite reliable croppers and sometimes we may have apricots, peaches and figs but that depends very much on the weather each year.
We are only 35 minutes away from Cheltenham, famous for amongst other things the horse racing festival held in March every year - including of course the Cheltenham Gold Cup.
