This is a traditional fair for gypsies and travelling people to meet up and trade which dates back to 1476 when its Charter was granted. Stow is very busy for a day or two before and after each fair, and a number of shops, pubs and restaurants are closed. Whilst many visitors enjoy the colour and vibrancy associated with the fairs, other visitors prefer to avoid Stow on these dates

Outside

Stow House has a gorgeous, south-facing, private garden complete with a bijou English-country house lawn, borders bursting with flowers, walls covered in climbing roses and delicate hawthorn flowers. There's even a small pond at the centre, home to lilies, reeds and rushes and the occasional froggy visitor. Immediately outside the dining room and kitchen is a terrace with sofa seating and a coffee table - making the perfect spot to enjoy a morning tea or coffee. At the far end, the garden transforms itself into an uber-stylish upper terrace with flagstones, and outside lighting that creates a delightful ambiance in the evening to enjoy sat around the dining table waiting for the food to be served from the charcoal barbecue.

- "The Old School House is a beautiful property really close to the centre of Stow. The property is decorated lovely, the kitchen is very modern and the bathroom is great. There is lots of space for two, a comfortable bed, and lovely amenities. The owner is really helpful and welcoming - thank you for the treats too! Had a wonderful, relaxing time exploring a beautiful part of the country. Will be returning!" - "This is the second year that we have booked a property through StayCotswold and, the same as last year, I cannot praise it highly enough. Accommodation was absolutely spotless, very well furnished and equipped. Tony (the property manager) contacted me in advance with the instruction to contact him if anything was amiss (nothing was). He knew that it was my birthday over the weekend and he left a birthday card, a cake (with candles), a box of biscuits, a bottle of wine and four bottles of beer as well as a carton of milk. This was a lovely touch and much appreciated. Stow on the Wold is a great location from which to explore the Cotswolds, already had a look for where to stay next year but to be honest would be more than happy to return to "The Old School House"."

We were pleasantly surprised to see that the owner or manager also put out 2 universal converter plugs for us, cooking oil, salt/seasoning, food wraps... I have no complains and highly recommend this place." - "The Honey Pot is a delightful cottage. It is well- equipped, in a great location, comfortable, and so charming. The host is very responsive. Guest Reviews:

- "The apt is roomy and well located but be aware that the property is located on a busy road where cars and large trucks are lined up for a stop light, sitting right in front of the apt. If you sit on the couch or are in the kitchen, you are looking at drivers. There are sheers and curtains so we had the sheers pulled our entire visit. Since the front window and door are the main source of light, it would be nice to have blinds so you could draw them to still get light but block out the stopped traffic. We also heard lots of noise from the traffic including warning messages on their vehicles. Also, the couch covers needed cleaning as their were paw prints on it as well as other dirt. We used a throw to cover the couch to sit down."

- "Short stay with grandparents and adult/ student children. Lovely house to meet all our needs and central for days out. Weather was mixed but could not book that!" - "5 ladies stayed here for 3 nights and we would definitely stay again. Saying that, It wasn’t quite 10/10… no outside light was a big problem as, being November it was mostly dark when we were coming in. Lots of recycling bins in the kitchen but no clear expectations of what goes where, out of date info on the noticeboard. Given literally just enough dishwasher tablets which we felt was a bit tight. Wi-Fi was intermittent which was annoying and TV kept losing signal 🙁 On the plus, a comfortable house, very comfortable beds, 3 bathrooms were great! Lots of crockery which helped with the 1 dishwasher tablet a day and perfect location for walking into town 😀 "

The Pippins is a gorgeous 2 bedroom Cotswolds character cottage that has been lovingly renovated. With its stone walls and beams, this 200-year-old cottage combines character with a modern finish. It's situated in a quiet no-through lane but is only a two-minute walk into Stow with its shops, cafes, pubs, and restaurants. It also benefits from private off-road parking for 2 cars. It's the perfect place for a spot of quiet relaxation with all the conveniences on your doorstep.

The space
The Pippins are named after the apple tree that stands proudly at the entrance to the property. The pretty garden is at the front but is still very private. It is south-facing and so benefits from the sun all day, with a table and chairs for alfresco dining along with a charcoal BBQ. There are 2 sun loungers available from April to October. There is also a rear courtyard which again is set for outdoor dining with a table and 4 chairs.

The entrance leads straight into the beautiful dining area and kitchen with its stone walls and old bread oven. It has an old pine table and chairs for four. The modernized kitchen comprises a kettle and toaster, electric oven and gas hob, microwave, dishwasher, and fridge freezer as well as all cooking utensils and crockery, etc.

Next door is the cozy living room with paneled walls and a stone fireplace housing a wood-burner-style gas fire. There are two comfy sofas, a Smart TV, and a DVD player.

Upstairs there are 2 bedrooms which overlook the garden. The larger of these rooms has a Superking bed which can be split into 2 single beds if required (please let me know at the time of booking). It has a wooden floor and a fitted wardrobe. Next door is a carpeted room with a king-size bed, chest of drawers, and fitted wardrobe.

The bathroom is well equipped with a luxurious roll-top bath and a separate large shower.

There is a desk on the landing for anyone who may need space to work.

The cottage also benefits from a utility room, with a washing machine, drying rack, and tray for muddy boots for use after long country walks. There is also Wi-Fi available at the property.

The Little House
House
Cotswold District

Our Little House is a romantic space, tucked away within our patio garden.
It is also detached from our main home which allows you to feel you are in your own Romeo and Juliet room with touches such as fluffy bathrobes & slippers.
Hot drinks, basic breakfast needs and extras are also provided.
It is very important for us to provide a safe place for our guests so the space is deep cleaned between each booking including sterilising all surfaces to COVID standards.

The space
Our Little House is a beautiful charming place for a weekend away, being tucked away in this 'Romeo and Juliet' style 2 level room within our home in the middle of Stow on the Wold.
It offers a room on two levels and is separate from our main home (which dates back pre 1600.)
Perfect location being in the heart of Stow on the Wold and only a minutes walk away from all that this historic market town offers.
Ideal for a couple or single person, with a small downstairs area where we provide basic breakfast needs including fresh bread, toaster and cereal along with coffee, tea and a small induction hob. There is a small fridge with freshly provided milk and OJ.
The downstairs also has the wet room with a great shower.
You then climb a set of stairs (these are quite steep and not suitable for those with mobility issues) to the cosy and intimate bedroom area with traditional beams and sloping ceiling (mind your head!!) and its own 'Romeo and Juliet' balcony! Please note that there is restricted ceiling access but the bedroom area is cosy with its balcony looking out onto the garden and a wonderful place for a good night's sleep!

Guest access
The access to the Little House is through our main home but once there, it is self contained. It is situated within our patio garden where you can sit and relax reading a book or having a glass of wine.

Other things to note
The Little House Room is ideal for either a single person or couple.
However, due to the steep stairs and restricted height in the bedroom area it is not suitable for small children or disabled.

At Reuben's Cottage's Little House we offer you a boutique experience which makes your stay feel extra special!
There are quality toiletries for your use along with soft fluffy bathrobes and slippers to snuggle up in.
We use quality pure stone washed linen and a good quantity of towels for your extra comfort.
We provide fresh milk and OJ for your arrival and there is a small fridge for your convenience. We do NOT provide breakfast but coffee, tea and essentials are provided for your stay.
We also have wifi television with Netflix available.

We have a cat at home. It will be in the garden area but the space is cat free.
