" - "The Hive is a unique luxury 2 bed apartment. Spacious and comfortable, fully equipped kitchen including espresso maker right in the center of Stow-on-the-Wold. When I say luxury it is high end in every detail from the bedding to the showers and bath. I loved that the four of us could hang out in the living room as our own private space rather than a hotel lobby. The owners were charming and own the restaurant downstairs. The whole experience is 11/10."

The Stow Horse Fair is held twice a year, typically on the Thursday closest to 12th May and the Thursday closest to 24th October, however, we would recommend checking the exact date ahead of placing your booking. This is a traditional fair for gypsies and travelling people to meet up and trade which dates back to 1476 when its Charter was granted. Stow is very busy for a day or two before and after each fair, and a number of shops, pubs and restaurants are closed. Whilst many visitors enjoy the colour and vibrancy associated with the fairs, other visitors prefer to avoid Stow on these dates

Guest Reviews:

- "The Gisleburtus House had many excellent qualities, but there were a couple of areas that could be improved. First, there was an issue with supplies, specifically toilet paper. We ran out in both full bathrooms and had to take some from the half bathroom. It would be great to have extra supplies in the supply closet or in each bathroom. Secondly, the fireplace was a major disappointment. The bioethanol fuel required to operate it was completely empty. We asked if we could get more, but it couldn't be supplied. One of the main reasons we rented the Gisleburtus House was to enjoy the fireplace, especially during Christmas. In the end, we managed to find an alternative fuel, but the salesman at the store mentioned that he often sells it to guests of the Gisleburtus House, which suggested it was a common issue. Unfortunately, the product we purchased didn’t work as well as we had hoped."

Guest Reviews:

- "We couldn’t have asked for a better stay in the Cotswolds as this was our first time here we loved our stay at Enochs Cottage. Well equipped with very comfortable beds with quality bed linen. The location is perfect to discover the Cotswolds. We enjoyed the beautiful garden as the weather was perfect. Thank you Sarah for all the little extras, such as hairdryer and dressing gowns etc. We will definitely recommend." - "The property is quiet and located at the end of a row of similar but not identical houses. The fact it is tucked away means there is no footfall past the front door. The garden to the rear is pleasant with a patio area near to the house and seating further down as well. Details are taken care of too such as dog treats if you are visiting with your pet. Everything you would expect is there and it is convenient for the main shopping area. There is no dedicated parking, but we had no issue parking nearby. Just respect the neighbours. Would thoroughly recommend."

Guest Reviews:

- "Lovely base for exploring with a well equipped kitchen. Our 2 young children fit comfortably in the bunk beds. We had an issue with the water temperature but good communication and we were happy with the outcome. Would definitely recommend Stow on the Wold and this property. Looking forward to visiting again." - "We had a lovely stay at the Little Elms. It was perfectly located right in the market square. The home was fully equipped with any kitchen items you might need. Our only issue with the place was with the shower. We were unable to change the temperature of the water so it was extremely hot the entire time. Other than that, it was perfect for our family of 3. Would certainly recommend to friends and family."

Guest Reviews:

- "This cottage is in a fantastic position only minutes away from the centre of Stow in the Wold. The beds were very comfortable and the property was well equipped. Some people may struggle to use the smart TV, we figured it out, but we couldn’t find any instructions. It was good to having off road parking available." - "We stayed as 4 adults at ways end and had a nice time with some minor hiccups. The property seems newly renovated and is a great location walking distance into stow on the wold. Beds were super comfy although the bathroom is quite small and I would think this property was more suited to 2 adults and children as space is a little limited. The welcome bread and eggs was a nice touch however the properly just lacked basic items when you book to stay somewhere. For example no shower gels/ hair wash in bathroom & basic items were missing such as a hairdryer, iron and fire lighter to get the fire going however once I contacted the host they did come to provide these. A lovely stay but needs some minor holiday let attention to detail touches adding."

- "Evenlode was a perfect place for us to stay while working at a nearby horse trials. It was ideally located, clean and comfortable." - "A nice relaxing stay in a well situated, lovely little property. What three words takes you directly to it. The house is well furnished and the car parking is located off the street in a gated courtyard area. The bed would benefit from a double mattress, as it is two single bases fixed together. (Probably because a double bed wouldn't fit up the stairs). Little booklet of walks and map of the area was handy. Would definitely stay there again."

Roseleigh Cottage in the heart of Stow-on-the-Wold with parking for 2 cars.
Cottage
Stow-on-the-Wold, England, United Kingdom

Roseleigh Cottage is a charming period stone cottage recently renovated, situated in a quiet street in the heart of Stow-on-the-Wold with off road parking for two cars.

This large property is totally enclosed by Cotswold stone walls and has a garden with a patio and parking for two cars. All the rooms, except one, look out over the garden and are decorated in Cath Kidston / Laura Ashley themes with exposed Cotswold stone in many places, and traditional, dark oak furniture.

The accommodation sleeps up to nine people with 2 double bedrooms, 2 twin bedrooms and a small single bedroom and gas central heating.

Having been recently re-furbished, there is a new kitchen, bathroom and 2 en-suite shower rooms. The decoration throughout is modern in style but the furniture itself is period design to give the cottage an authentic feel.

The Ground Floor contains a Lounge, Dining Room, Kitchen, and Ground Floor Double Bedroom with en-suite shower room. The front door leads into the Dining Hall with flags on the floor, a large oak table and chairs seating nine people, a stone fireplace, small sofa and TV.

The cosy Lounge has an exposed Cotswold stone wall, three sofas, a small stone fireplace with electric “wood burning” stove and a TV.

The kitchen, also with Cotswold stone, has oak units, a stone floor, butler sink, retro fridge freezer, oven, hob, dishwasher, washer/dryer and under floor heating.

The ground floor double bedroom has feature stone quoins, a stone floor and under floor heating with further stone tiles in the shower room (with small basin and toilet.)

All the other bedrooms and the bathroom are on the first floor and accessed from the landing.

The master bedroom has a huge Cotswold stone wall behind the King size bed, oak chests of drawers , wardrobe , TV, and an en-suite shower room with a small basin and toilet and looks over the garden.

The two twin bedded rooms also overlook the garden. They have a Victorian feel to them with original cast iron fireplaces, dark wood floors and dark oak furniture. The small single room looks to the side over a small fire station (very quiet and little used!) and has oak furniture and a small bay window.

The garden lies in front of the house surrounded by high Cotswold dry stone walls. There is a patio with 2 tables and seating for 9, an area of lawn and a long stone path leading to the front gate and parking area.

Whilst we accept well behaved dogs for an additional cost of £50 per pet, per week or per short break stay, please contact us to check if you wish to take more than one dog.

AROUND THE LOCAL AREA.
Stow-on-the-Wold is wonderfully different from other local towns in that it is built around a Market Square which boasts an ancient cross, 15th Century parish church and fascinating old buildings. One of the oldest houses, the 'Crooked House' on the west side of the Square, was built about 1450. There are stocks on the green dating back to the 15th century.

For eating out, Stow offers a broad range, from informal tea shops, brasseries, bistros, through to excellent restaurants - not forgetting delicious food in relaxed pub surroundings. The Kings Arms is a good example of a coaching inn where the main entrance was through the arch leading to the stables. Apparently, Charles I stayed here about the time of the Battle of Naseby in 1645.
On Digbeth Street stands the Royalist Hotel, said to be the oldest inn in England and they say there has been an inn stood on this same site since 947AD.

Stow boasts an exciting array of antique and gift shops, clothes and shoe shops, bakery, butcher, organic shop, delicatessens, small late shop, a TARDIS-like cook shop, electrical supplies shop, wine merchant, pharmacy, 24-hour supermarket and my personal favourite, the Chocolate Shop, where you can see the chocolates being made!

A short stroll along Well Lane will lead you to the Roman Well - small but well worth a visit for history lovers.

How to get there – Approximately 80 minutes by train from London Paddington station into Kingham station (5 miles from Stow) or 90 minutes to Moreton-in-Marsh station (4.1/2 miles from Stow). Approx 90 minutes from London Heathrow Airport by car. Approx 1 hour from Birmingham Airport.
As well as rail links, Stow has a good bus service to nearby towns and villages.
Stow is only 20 minutes by car from Shakespeare's Stratford, 25 mins from the elegant Regency Spa town of Cheltenham, 30 mins from Oxford and 1 hr from Bath.

Other approximate distances to other local towns and places of interest: Along with Moreton-in-Marsh and Bourton-on-the-Water, Stow is one of the best known of the small Cotswold towns.
3 miles to Lower Slaughter.
4 miles to Bourton-on-the-Water.
9.5 miles to Snowshill (inc. Manor).
9 miles to Chipping Norton.
10 miles to Burford and Chipping Campden.
9 miles to Broadway Tower (11.5 to Broadway centre).
6 miles to Batsford Arboretum.
13 miles to Chedworth Roman Villa.

- "We had a great weekend stay ! Location was so central to stow only a 5 min walk if that to the pubs for a nice meal out! Had Sunday dinner at the Porch house and enjoyed the Indian one night plus drinks at Sheep inn and the Bell. The house was very clean, bed was super comfy and easy parking at the back. We had lovely days out, only a short drive to Bourton on the water which is beautiful. Will be back to enjoy another nice stay in this beautiful home."

A cosy Cotswold retreat on a private estate
Cottage
Cotswold District

Tall Trees is a classic honey-stoned cotswold cottage, located on a private estate between Stow on the Wold and Bourton on the Water. It is a fantastic base from which to explore the Cotswolds either along the many local footpaths or by car.

The space
Formerly a school-house for the children on the estate, Tall Trees has been sympathetically converted into a one-bedroom, ground floor cottage, with a high-beamed ceiling in the living room. A well-equipped modern kitchen awaits with a smeg fridge and coffee machine alongside everything else you might require. In winter months stock up the wood burner in the living room, and cosy up as the evenings draw in after a busy day exploring the Cotswolds.

The cottage is located with views of the walled vegetable garden and orchard.

Guest access
Several footpaths run alongside the edge of the estate, offering miles of walking along the beautiful rolling hills of the Cotswolds. The nearby village pub in Lower Swell - the Golden Ball - can be reached entirely via footpaths as can the picture-perfect village of Lower Slaughter.

Stow on the Wold is a short distance up the hill, with its variety of shops, pubs and restaurants, and both Daylesford Farm Shop and Soho Farmhouse are a short drive away.

The Cotswolds offers beautiful country lanes for cycling, wonderful walking and picturesque villages to visit such as Broadway, Bibury Row and Chipping Camden slightly further afield. Tall Trees is only half an hour from the wonderful Georgian spa town of Cheltenham, and forty minutes from the world-renowned university city of Oxford.

Other things to note
We allow one dog per booking (with an extra cleaning fee). If you wish to bring more than one dog then please send a message detailing size/type of dog.

Public transport in Gloucestershire is extremely limited, as are taxi services and therefore we highly recommend that you have access to a car when visiting. There is space to park your car outside Tall Trees.
