- "This is a wonderful peaceful place to stay.. a beautiful cottage situated in a lovely Cotswolds town." - "This was our fourth visit to Star Cottage. After our last visit we highlighted a few issues that had detracted from our stay. I am very pleased to say that all but one of the issues has been resolved. The only outstanding issue is that the gentle drying cycle on the washer dryer does not work. We really enjoyed our stay and were disappointed to have to leave early for an important family matter. We are planning to visit again next year."

Gorgeous 17th Century Cotswold Stone Cottage, in Blockley (a Picture Postcard Village, in the heart of the North Cotswolds, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB). Historically the Old Coach House to a Manor House, which has been stunningly renovated and restored into what can now only be described as your very own Luxury Escape from the World of hustle and bustle.
The Interior is both Contemporary and Classic, with that real Home from Home English Country Feel to it.
The Cottage has had a complete Interior Makeover, which has been meticulously designed and planned out by the owner (also an Interior Designer) who has owned a couple of other Holiday Properties and is basing the Look and Feel of this little Gem, on many of her own travel experiences and selecting all the best ingredients to make your time at Lanterns as comfortable, relaxed and enjoyable as possible.
The end result is like staying in your very own Private Boutique Hotel -( without the staff or the Restaurant in house ! ) with no other guests accept you and your friends or family to spend your time away with.
Perfectly located right in the heart of the most gorgeous English Countryside (you can't really get much more quintessentially English than this Village, and it is still very much a Lived in Village with just a handful of Holiday Cottages, together with 1 Hotel, a thriving and sought after Pub (within a stones throw from the cottage), a delightful Village Shop and a great little Cafe, offering scurmptions breakfasts / lunches and occassional evening events, if you don't want to cook or travel too far.
Blockley itself is a delight, and used to have 12 Mills back in the day, many of which can still be found, around the Babbling Blockley Brook . (a place to make great memories for Children and Adults alike). There are numerous walks from the gentle near by paths to the fabulous planned routes all across the stunning Cotswold Countryside. (Do bring your Wellingtons / Walking Boots if you can !)
Detached Stone Cottage,
Hand Made / Hand Painted Kitchen with all the main appliances you will need for your stay (Range Oven, Fridge, Freezer, Microwave, Washer/Dryer, Dishwasher, Kettle, Toaster, Nespresso Coffee Machine, Fully equipped with most of the items you would probably need for a Home from Home break away, and most equipment available too for any budding cooks out there).
Private Walled Garden with 2 Patio Areas (one lower and one upper to catch the last rays of the evening sun, with a BBQ on upper level too).
Parking for 2 Cars (if more parking needed there is free on street parking nearby).
Walk to Pub (it's just over the road, couldn't get much more handy), Village centre a short walk away, Childrens Play Park just a stones throw away too, beautiful babbling brooks and surrounding countryside to take your breath away all around you.
Blockley is one of the Cotswolds hidden Secrets, away from the busier Tourist Towns, but close enough to visit them all without being in the car for hours.

- "Warm and cozy. Beautiful property. Great little town. Information book needs to be updated. Company used for problems was very helpful once we learned how to contact him. Lots of extra numbers that go before his number. But we got it and he was great. Clean, cozy, nicely furnished, felt very safe, great back yard. (If bikes are for renters use have the tires filled with air. Across the street is the Crown hotel. Great pub, met very nice people that made wonderful recommendations for things to do. I had the most incredible view from my bedroom window on the second floor. And I mean incredible!!!!"

The village boasts many other historic buildings including a converted water mill along the brook; a fabulous community run café and well stocked shop and two pubs within walking distance. Also nearby are Stow-on-the-Wold, Broadway, and Bourton-on-the-Water.

Mid way between Chipping Campden and Moreton-in-Marsh, Blockley is one of the larger Cotswold villages and remains relatively unspoilt.
Like many of its Cotswold counterparts, the heritage of the village is firmly rooted in the wool trade but unlike others, following the decline of the wool trade, the village prospered thanks to the presence of silk mills supplying silk ribbon to the Midlands.
The handsome architecture means it’s very easy on the eye, the Norman church is particularly striking but despite being picture postcard pretty, there’s a real sense of community here too with the village shop being a community concern which is not only ‘open all hours’ but has a café that also opens Friday evenings for dinner – very civilised!
There’s a great pub (always a boon for self caterers) and a wealth of things to do and places to visit nearby with Batsford Arboretum, Cotswold falconry (and archery) and the gardens at being just a few.
There are an abundance of quintessential Cotswold villages and towns: Upper Slaughter, Lower Slaughter, Broadway, Snowshill, Chipping Campden, Moreton-in-Marsh, Stow-on-the-Wold and Bourton-on-the-Water.

- "A well-cared for and cosy cottage and a real home from home. Ideally located to visit many places of interest. This was a holiday for 3 generations of our family and we all loved it." - "Delightful cottage in one of our favourite Cotswold villages. Everything we needed although some wear needing attention e.g loose sink hot tap in bathroom and worn non stick pans in kitchen. Would certainly like to stay again" - "Well equipped, homely, comfortable cottage in a central location in the delightful village of Blockley. Beautiful, uplifting views all around the cottage, and a pretty garden with conservatory to dine in or just to enjoy the surroundings. Near to a well-stocked village shop - we did most of our food shopping there (and cafe serving an excellent breakfast), a bus stop, and walks into the surrounding countryside. We hope to return."

- "Lovely holiday cottage / barn conversion. Loads of space inside and the added bonus of off street parking. We stayed Monday to Friday and really enjoyed our stay. Highgate had everything we needed and more. Bathrooms located next to both bedrooms meaning it’s suitable for 2 couples and still plenty of privacy (although there was only 2 of us, we didn’t use the back suite). Location wise, right off the high street and walking distance to lots of lovely coffee shops and eatery’s. The parking was a great added bonus, tight access, but we managed okay with our small SUV (Volvo XC40). Thanks for a brilliant stay, will definitely be back!"

- "We booked the cottage for my 40th birthday weekend and it was everything we needed. The bedrooms were big, all with lovely ensuite rooms, more than enough space for the 7 of us, and probably room for a couple more. It's perfectly located for exploring the Cotswolds, and more than enough to do if you wanted to stay in the cottage and relax. Our 5-year-old in particular loved the dog bingo game! 10/10 would recommend." - "It was great! We absolutely loved it! The location was great, short driving distances to Stow-on-the-Wold and Moreton-in-Marsh, which both had grocery stores and everything else you need for a visit to the Cotswolds. We ate breakfast at the house and cooked and ate several dinners at the house as well. The only downside about the location, is that a car is needed. But with a car, you can explore all around, making short trips throughout the Cotswolds or even venturing further out. One of the best parts of us, is that we had a large family there and there were plenty of beds and four full baths! This meant bathroom usage was not a problem at all (which is not at all the case with a hotel). We absolutely loved the it and would love to own a place like that. As for StayCotswolds, working with them was easy and simple. No problems whatsoever. If we venture to the Cotswolds again and are looking for a place to stay, we would happily book with StayCotswold again!"

- "The cottage was ideally located to explore the Cotswolds. It was clean, and finished to a high standard. Had a beautiful back garden and was very quiet. Enjoyed staying here and would definitely stay again." - "The Rosewood Cottage is very well located with a pretty design. The Blockley village is surrounded by nature that is missed in a city. It's a place where you need a break from the city." - "It was very nice and beautifully put together but in their effort to having everything toning a lack of ordinary pans was a distinct omission. Despite a plea not to fry the only standard pans were frying pans. I do know, as I have some Le Creuset make very good ordinary style pans. My husband also found the kitchen taps disconcerting as they turned the wrong way according to him."

There are stairs to consider going down to living room and up to attic bedroom. Overall, a very comfortable and happy time at The Glen. Thank you to the owners for sharing their wonderful home." - "We had an excellent time staying here. Loved the cottage the and found it very well equipped. It was even better in person than the photos on the website. Communication beforehand was excellent. It was perfect for our party size The only thing we could think of that was negative was that it would be nice to have some Christmas decorations and one of the sofas was a little bit hard"

The quality of the furniture/furnishings was top of the range, a well appointed house, and cleanliness was exceptional. The property was in a quiet location. Will definitely be returning!" - "We really enjoyed our stay at this wonderful cottage. We were met by the host, who could not have been more helpful. This cotswold stone cottage has everything going for it, secluded, quiet location within easy walking distance of the High Street. - "This cottage is ideal for a stay in the Cotwolds, being close to many beautiful villages, towns and places of interest. It's also walking distance to the local pubs. We had lunch at the Horse and Groom in Upper Oddington and it was excellent. Though quite small, this charming cottage was perfect for our stay - in a quiet location, beautifully decorated and well equiped. The owners have made sure that everything you need is provided for, including some coffee, milk, washing up liquid, cloths, etc. - small points but much appreciated. We loved it and really recommend it."

- "We had a wonderful stay at Stonecrop Cottage. It's a lovely house with four good bedrooms. Eight family members were comfortable and the two and a half baths were quite sufficient for us. The kitchen and dining rooms provided great eating space, and there were an abundance of plates and silverware for meals made on site. The house is easily walkable from the train station, numerous restaurants, and two grocery stores. It was a great house to just relax and enjoy family and tour the Cotswolds together. The only thing we would have liked was a dryer for clothes. Wish our stay was longer. Thank for sharing your beautiful home with us."

The Stow Horse Fair is held twice a year, typically on the Thursday closest to 12th May and the Thursday closest to 24th October, however, we would recommend checking the exact date ahead of placing your booking. This is a traditional fair for gypsies and travelling people to meet up and trade which dates back to 1476 when its Charter was granted. Stow is very busy for a day or two before and after each fair, and a number of shops, pubs and restaurants are closed. Whilst many visitors enjoy the colour and vibrancy associated with the fairs, other visitors prefer to avoid Stow on these dates
