- "Everything was prepared so thoughtfully and laid out for practical everyday use. Tasteful Christmas tree and decorations too. The whole family loved this cottage from the moment we arrived, And stepping out on the public footpath, such a lovely view across the river towards the village!" - "We all loved Hope Cottage. It is located in a small quiet village, with a nice pub nearby (The New Inn) just over one mile away. The interior is beautifully decorated and has quality fittings and furnishing. It was larger than we expected inside, and we were very happy with the layout. All of kitchen equipment (cups, glasses, pans, etc. ) was of high quality, and everything was provided that you would want. The whole place was spotless and impeccable. Wifi was great although be aware that normal mobile telephone reception is poor in the village; set you mobile to wifi calling if you can. Happy to come back again in the future if we need to stay in this area. There are some nice walks/footpaths to follow locally. And we managed to park 4x cars in the driveway !"

- "Fabulous " - "I recently stayed at this charming house for a weekend, and it was an absolutely lovely experience for our family of four. The house is wonderfully situated, making it easy to explore the local area. Once you park your car, you can walk across the street to a cozy pub. There’s a coffee shop just two minutes down the road, an ice cream stand, a trout café, and other amenities nearby. A restaurant at the hotel and a kids' park are also within walking distance. The house itself is very clean and provides a relaxing atmosphere. While there’s no mobile signal in the area, the Wi-Fi signal is excellent both in the house and at the pub, so we remained well-connected. The hot tub was a delightful addition, perfect for unwinding. We enjoyed watching the bees and birds visiting the bee house and bird feeders while relaxing outside. If you have children, be aware that the steps inside the house are made of stone, which was a bit nerve-wracking at first. However, our kids quickly adapted and enjoyed exploring the house. The electric keyboard, guitar, and violin were fantastic additions for our musical family. Overall, it was a great weekend getaway. Highly recommended for families looking for a peaceful and enjoyable retreat."

Local information and recommendations:
A short stroll away from the cottage is the 12th century knights gate and St Swithin's Church, built mainly in the late 11th century.
Further down, the River Coln marks the edge of the village, with open countryside beyond. Here, The Old Rectory hosts the Fresh Air Sculpture show - a biennial sculpture exhibition usually in June. You can take a beautiful walk along the river to the pretty high street at Fairford. Alternatively, turn around and head back in the other direction, northwest through the Quenington to reach the Keepers Arms village pub for good food and drinks.
For longer walks, there are lovely cross country routes starting from outside the cottage, at the end of Victoria Road. Also from Victoria Road you can walk north through fields toward Coln St Aldwyns. You could also start from the River Coln between Quenington and Coln St Aldwyns for a beautiful walk to Bibury and back. There are maps and guide books in our entrance porch.
Quenington is from the Old English 'Cwenenatun' meaning women's settlement. The word 'Queen' has the same derivation!

- "Greyhound barn was a lovely place to stay for a large group with plenty of room for everyone. " - "It is hard to find a property with so many en suite rooms, so for a group of friends that meets once a year this property was perfect. What was great: 1. Size of property 2. Games room 3. Well stocked kitchen 4. Beautiful location 5. Comfortable beds 6. Ensuite bathrooms for all What wasn't so great 1. Property is pretty shabby inside, needs lots of basic maintenance and decoration. Not obvious from photographs. 2. Some of the interior door handles fell off when touched 3. Some of the rooms were not very clean when we arrived 4. Despite adhering to the parking spaces allocated (and calling up to check beforehand), on two occasions our cars were blocked in by the cottages opposite and no-one answered their doors for a long time. This was really very inconvenient and if we had had an emergency would have been a safety issue. They need to sort this out"
