Guest Reviews:

- "This cottage was perfect for a large family weekend. Plenty of room to eat together, well equipped kitchen and room to sit and relax." - "Landgate worked perfectly for a family get together, plenty of space in the house which is set in huge grounds with stunning, unspoilt views. Bedrooms were clean, spacious and comfortable. The kitchen is very well equipped with everything you could need and access to a BBQ was a great addition for us. Lots of space to park cars and completely private. The location allows you to visit places locally, we went to Batsford Arboretum and Broadway Tower. A couple of very minor improvements such as a wider range of children's dvds (only one available) and a small music speaker would be my only suggestions. We definitely hope to return to the house in the future!"

Guest Reviews:

- "The property was excellent with lots of kitchen equipment, comfortable sofas and beds, and 3 toilets. The garden was large but a bit overgrown (we trimmed plants ourselves to access the path) and, although it is enclosed, it was not secure (our LabX escaped over the back wall twice). Our daughter and her partner joined us for the week, travelling by train from Birmingham. It was excellent to have a holiday cottage so near the train station and we all made use of the station by doing a walk that involved 2 train journeys (as our dog had never been on a train before). Lots of lovely pubs within walking distance; the Black Bear Inn was our favourite (cheaper pints there and lovely food), and the Tuesday market was great to visit too."

Bedrooms were comfortable, I think fans would help if you are there in the warmer months. Be prepared for very steep stairs." - "The cottage was nicely decorated with some lovely touches. It was very clean and well equipped with everything needed. The bedrooms were really comfortable, although one significantly smaller than the other. Each had its own bathroom (the smaller room with a bath). The outside space was lovely, but unsuitable for those with limited mobility. Outside parking is on a first come first served basis. The village was very pretty with a pub and great cafe that serves a fantastic breakfast. Surrounding villages and attractions were within easy travelling distance. Overall, a great stay, many thanks to our hosts for their excellent information and welcome. "

- "Six of us rented this property for one night for a get together. It is well located with some nice pubs and coffee shops nearby, as well as Tesco. We had three cars and parking was a breeze. Communication was good, lots of info sent to us beforehand. NB if staying for more than one night, be aware there is no kitchen! We wrongly assumed that an ‘apartment’ would have one, but it was just bedrooms and bathrooms. Not a big issue as we were only there for one night, but might be an issue if you want to cook for yourself!!"

Town: The Saxon market town of Moreton-in-Marsh lies on the Fosse Way Roman Road in the northern Cotswolds and boasts many elegant 18th century buildings, which are home to traditional inns, serving real ales and home-cooked food, tea rooms, restaurants and individual shops to suit all tastes. It also boasts it's own train station and lies on the intersection of the Paddington rail line from London. The town hosts the Moreton-In-Marsh Show, one of the UK's largest one-day agricultural shows, as well as the Moreton Beer Festival, an annual French Market, and a large outdoor market every Tuesday. Many walks and cycle rides through the beautiful rolling countryside of the Cotswolds can be enjoyed from the centre of the town, with the Macmillan Way, Heart of England Way, Gloucestershire and Monarch's Way all running close by. Less than five miles away is Stow-on-the-Wold, the highest town in the Cotswolds. This ancient market town has played host to many fairs since the 12th century and today holds a biannual Gypsy Horse Fair, craft fairs and monthly farmers' market. Close by is Bourton-on-the-Water, which is known as the Venice of the Cotswolds as the River Windrush runs through the centre. It lies in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and is one of the most popular Cotswold villages. Also within reach is the spa town of Cheltenham. This town boasts an incredible range of shops, cinemas, theatres, restaurants and pubs, and is famous for its horseracing festival in March, culminating in the Gold Cup steeplechase. Oxford, Stratford-upon-Avon, Bath, Worcester and the waterfront city of Gloucester are also within driving distance. A convenient base for exploring the Cotswolds and the wider area.

Guest Reviews:

- "The location is great; 1 block to restaurants and 1 block to the train station. At checkin, the cleaning crew had not cleaned the house, in fact, it just slipped through the cracks. Wet towels were in the tub and the beds were left from the previous people. I tried every number for Sykes and all were sent to voicemail. I found one numbe in the cottage for the cleaning person that used to clean the place 2 years prior and he was able to get ahold of someone to call me back. Anyway, we went out to dinner and when we returned the whole place was cleaned up and they even brought in some basic food for us which was very nice. Sykes even offered to pay for drinks while we were out but I didn't need it. The house is about 400 years old but was totally upgraded and really quaint. I would have to say my only real issue, which is not Sykes fault, is that property is on High Street, the main thporoughfare through town. It was warm so we had to keep our windows open at night. The sound was as if you were in the middle of the street. I suggest you bring earplugs for night. I did try my noise-cancelling Airpods and that cut a lot of the street sound out."

Guest Reviews:

- "We had a great stay in the Cotswolds. There is such a lot to do in this area. The house in Moreton-in-Marsh was in a great location, although on a busy road. There was only one parking space so this was quite inconvenient. The house had spacious bedrooms but not such roomy reception rooms. The house showed some wear and tear and was fitted in a basic way. However, it was perfectly adequate for a short stay and our whole family enjoyed our stay."

More on the local area and things to do during your stay:

Blockley is one of the larger Cotswold villages and largely unspoilt due to it being a hidden gem, midway between Moreton-in-Marsh and Chipping Campden, Blockley was a main centre of the silk industry in the 18th and 19th centuries with the silk mills using the waters of the brook which runs through the centre of the village.

Blockley was regularly featured in the television series of Father Brown: the late Norman church, St Peter and St Paul's, was used as the fictional St Mary's Church and the vicarage as Father Brown's residence.

The Cotswolds is known for its honey-stone buildings, but Blockley has some of the brightest around. A favourite thing to do by many is to wander the streets and admire its historic buildings. Blockley was made a conservation area in 1976 to preserve its character.

Some of the local buildings date back to the medieval period, but many of the houses you can see today like along Northwick Terrace - were built in the 18th century.

Places to vist:
- Church of St Peter and St Paul - Built around 1180 for the Bishops of Worcester

- Father Brown Filming Locations

- Mill Dene Garden - Mill Dene is privately owned garden in the village that's open to the public from April-October. This traditional English Country Garden was established in 1965 and covers 2.5 acres, set over several levels surrounding an old water mill and with the Brockley Brook trickling by.

- Walks from Blockley - Blockley is on the route of the Heart of England Way, Diamond Way (North Cotswold) and Monarchs Way long-distance walking routes.

- You can walk east to Batsford village and around the edge of Batsford Arboretum before heading back to Blockley via the Monarch's Way (4.5 miles). Or go north to Chipping Campden and back via the village of Broad Campden with its pretty thatched cottages (7.7 miles)

- Visit beautiful gardens including Bourton House Garden, Sezincite House and Garden, Batsford Arboretum and the Cotswold Falconry Centre.

- Court Barn Museum

- Market town of Moreton-in-Marsh

Please note that my Husband needs to have access to the bathroom at 6.30am 7 days a week so as to get to work on time. You can help yourself to Water in the kitchen & there is a microwave you can use. There are Tea & Coffee making facilities in the room with mini fridge, you need to purchase your own milk for tea & coffee if required. Please note that guests are not permitted to use my oven, hob, toaster or pots & pans. My listing is more suited to those that just want a comfortable place to sleep

Please note that I may have 1-2 dogs staying the same time as you. On rare occasions they may bark in the middle of the night and you will bump into them

Due to my house being a small new build, it is not very well sound proofed, so being as quiet as possible, especially when opening & closing doors after 10pm is essential. As quiet hours are from 10pm to the morning, this also includes showering & blow drying hair.

Sorry it sounds like a lot of rules & regulations but due to a very few number of guests that have been very thoughtless & disrespectful, I just want to be sure this is the right place for you. It’s not a hotel or bed & breakfast, you are sharing my home. I take great pride in preparing your room & cleaning the bathroom. It is very reasonably priced & offers a very comfortable bed to get a good nights sleep.

Most importantly, you will be extremely welcome and made to feel very comfortable during you stay & given as much privacy as possible

I very much look forward to meeting you

Other things to note
As this is a shared bathroom in my home, extractor fan must be switched on before showering and toilet lid lowered before flushing. I would greatly appreciate that your belongings are not placed on the windowsill but on coverings provided so as to protect furniture & paintwork . No strong smelling food like Curries etc. to be eaten in the house. All luggage is to be placed on rug provided to protect the carpet. I would love guests that are respectful of my home and leave the room as they find it

Despite our postal address of Moreton in Marsh, we are in the small village of Upper Oddington - about 6 miles from Moreton.
Oddington is a quiet, rural village in the heart of the beautiful Cotswold countryside. The area is very popular with cyclists, walkers and those who enjoy exploring pretty small towns and villages nearby.
The village boasts two great pubs - The Horse and Groom in Upper Oddington and The Fox in Lower Oddington - both offering great food and local ales.
The closest town is Stow on the Wold, with Bourton On The Water and Moreton in Marsh, very close by.
Oddington dates back to the 11th Century and has two churches one of which dates back to this (website hidden) St Nicholas church is of particular historical interest not only because of it's age but also because of the well preserved 'Doom' painting on it's wall.

Public transport is very limited.
The nearest train station is Kingham, Oxfordshire, which is about 6 miles away.
