Hancock, Michigan, USA

The Maid's Quarters Suite is a separate living section inside historic Quincy House that includes 2 newly restored rooms (bedroom & living room) & a modern restored en suite bathroom.

Enjoy your peaceful stay in the once humble, privately accessed, maid's section of this 10,000 square foot mansion, lavishly decorated in Victorian era detailing and high style. Enjoy period antiques, wall coverings and oil paintings seamlessly and uniquely paired with all the modern amenities including free high speed WiFi Internet and FREE PREMIUM TV streaming channels like Disney+ & Prime Video.

Your bedroom includes a restored original bed with queen sized coil/gel hybrid mattress with luxury bedding in a jewel-toned French inspired decor. Your en suite 3 piece bathroom includes antique tiling, custom rain shower, Cararra marble sink, luxury towels and toiletries. Your suite's attached living room has a twin bed, cozy seating, a 50" smart TV with free streaming channels including Disney+, Hulu, Prime Video, Showtime & more, a small refrigerator, microwave, coffee station, walk in closet and roll-away bed available at no charge. Enjoy the views atop Quincy Hill from this 143+ year old landmark. The Maid's Quarters Suite includes ceiling fans in both the bedroom and living room, is on the 2nd floor, no elevator and 500 sq. ft. Our private driveway is large with plenty of free parking and turn around space for trucks with trailers.

**For those sensitive to pets: we have a couple resident cats who patrol this old house and its many nooks and crannies so please be aware if you are prone to allergy. They are kept out of the Maid's Quarters at all times and are very cleanly maintained.

Quincy House, completed in 1882 is an Italianate Victorian mansion built by Quincy Mining Company to prominently house its highest ranking area official, the Mine Agent. It is the last standing mining company agent's house among the many mines that once exploited the area for copper. Built more lavishly than other mine company structures, it served as a social center during the copper mine boom. Quincy House is currently undergoing restoration and preservation. You're staying in the private, newly restored rear section of the house. We reside in the separate but connected front section that is under restoration. Both sections are closed off from each other and you will not be disturbed by construction during your stay. Your privacy and comfort is our utmost concern. We are happy to give guests tours and talk about the history upon request.

Quincy House has, is and will be undergoing restoration and preservation for years to come. In no way will this negatively effect your stay. In fact you will be able to witness how we are transforming and restoring this famous 143+ year old Victorian Mansion back into the monarch of Quincy Hill it once was.

In addition, your stay will benefit the house as all proceeds we receive from your visit are put directly into the Quincy House Preservation Foundation, a 501c3 charitable nonprofit organization formed and operated by us to restore and sustain the house now and for the future as a valuable historic educational interpretation of Copper Country history.

Guest Reviews:

- "At first glance the house might be something you’d pass by but upon driving up on the property, and stepping inside you’ll find this stay has more than what just meets the eye. Our stay was absolutely amazing! The room has been impeccably renovated and has everything you’d need for your stay, walking in and feeling so welcomed by not only the hosts but the room itself was a blessing after our long drive. The attention to detail in the room and the hospitality was so refreshing, and honestly a million times better than staying at a hotel. Our hosts responded very fast if we needed absolutely anything, showed us around the grounds, and were again more than welcoming I promise if you stay with these hosts and their amazing stay… you’ll never want to stay in a hotel again. Will be booking again!"

- "Everything about our stay was wonderful." - "This was by far the best place we have stayed in the area. We come up every year to visit family and this year we had an extra visitor with us, as we brought our toddler for his first visit. We knew we needed something spacious and private. This was both and beyond. The place was so clean and cozy on top of it. The ammenities were over and above. We wish we had a longer stay so we could enjoy more of what the property had to offer. Kudos for offering a toddler swing, we found time to use it for a moment inbetween family events. We hope to be back! Highly recommend this property for families!"

- "Awesome place to stay! Great Location!" - "we stayed for several days to move our son up to Mich Tech and explored the area. Home was clean and beautifully furnished. We appreciated all the nice little touches, having a few little thoughtful snacks and the detergent pods. We enjoyed sitting in the back enclosed porch. Also enjoyed the coffee selection and I especially appreciated the coffee creamer in the fridge. Location is convenient to Houghton/Hancock yet is quiet. Our large fifth wheel trailer is an updated, comfortable space for two; one queen bed. Room for a travel crib inside, or children in tents, on your camp site.

No 110-V plug-in electricity or running water. However, propane fridge, stove and heater, battery-powered lights. Fresh drinking water and a luxury hand-crafted outhouse. Shower facilities.

Relax around the campfire! Go exploring!

The space
Relax and unplug! Take in the peace and quiet, dark sky, and occasional Northern lights. Watch deer and maybe even a Black bear from your window!

Nuts and bolts:

Please note: RV has no 110 volt (plug in) electricity or running water.

It does have everything you need for a truly off-grid camping experience: battery-powered lights and lanterns, as well as solar- powered lanterns, plus propane- powered fridge, stove and oven, and nearby luxury outhouse.

We provide fresh drinking water in two handy dispensers; one in the kitchen and one outside on the table.

There is limited cell service, depending on your carrier, and no wifi at the camp site. However, the wifi signal is good when closer to our house. Remember to bring an in-car charger for your cellphone

Shower:

Enjoy a hot shower anytime in the traditional Finnish sauna near the main house. Shower towels provided.

Fabulous extras:

We also provide bottled water, snacks and fire wood and kindling for campfires.

Sauna experience:

If you would like to experience a traditional wood-fired Finnish sauna, we will happily facilitate that amazing experience for you.
We charge $15.00 for up to two people.
Please give us at least several hours' notice - we need to fire up the wood stove and it takes time to heat up.

Guest access
You will have the entire camper and camp site to yourselves. Park right on site.

As there is no running water in the camper, you can use a shower in the sauna house. We'll even provide the towels.

We ask that you please use the luxury outhouse ( very clean and bright) for your other bathroom needs.

Other things to note
Our dog Redd is a Red Heeler/Shepherd mix that likes to visit occasionally. He is friendly with people, but not so much with other animals. If you find him to be a nuisance, please let us know and we will keep him from visiting your site. Please do not invite him into the camper.

Also, please do not leave trash or anything else that may attract raccoons or bears outside over night. Although it is not often, we have seen them - and their 'evidence' - on the property.
