It features a huge wrap around, screened in porch, with a hot tub, Weber grill, 2 rocking chairs, and dining seating for 6. It’s perfect for enjoying your coffee in the morning or your wine in the evenings. There’s also a paved fire pit for you to enjoy at night.



This home is less than 5 mins to downtown Ellijay and sleeps 8 comfortably. It has a huge first floor master with a King bed and a large Roku TV. The master bathroom, walk in shower, and walk in closet are also just as large, and is separate from the other bedrooms. The other 2 bedrooms are located upstairs and share a double sink “Jack n Jill” bathroom with a tub. Both bedrooms are comparable in size, have Queen beds, large closets, and Roku TVs in each. Outside of these bedrooms, there is a small loft with a twin memory foam pullout couch. The second twin pullout couch is in the game/tv room that is located in the sunroom near the master.



The game room has a Roku tv, comfortable seating, a ping pong table, and foosball table. It is off the master and wrap around porch. The house has gorgeous high ceilings that make it feel open and airy. The living room will be the place to gather with your loved ones as it has ample seating for everyone. The kitchen is equipped with everything you would need to cook a meal for a large group. It is beautifully updated with dining for 8 and barstools for 4. There is also a half bath off the living room for convenience. The large laundry room is behind the kitchen and off the garage entrance.



IMPORTANT - PLEASE READ !

This home is what we call “the main house” on this property. “The river front cottage” - please see listing link below - is located a few hundred feet away from the house. This is a rental as well, so understand you may have guests there, so if you want to be secluded, this is not the property for you. We planted fern trees to separate the yards, but until they grow larger, there will not be complete privacy. They have their own yard/hot tub/and firepit, so those will not be shared.



THIS PROPERTY IS PERFECT FOR HOSTING LARGE GROUPS like retreats and family reunions - it has 3 homes total on 6 acres of land. The 3rd property is linked below and is called “the treehouse”. The treehouse does not have any privacy issues since it is literally up in the trees away from both “the main house” and “the cottage”. All 3 homes can accommodate up to 18, while still having your own space.



Other things to note:

LATE CHECK-OUTS & EARLY CHECK-INS: Check-in time is 4PM and checkout time is 11AM. Door codes do not activate until set check-in time. Early access will not be provided without prior approval. Guests who check-in early or checkout past checkout time will charged the additional fee of $50/hr.

There is a security camera facing the driveway that will be on during your stay. Any pets or extra guests seen on property is subject to a charge.

This 3 bedroom, 2.5 bath chalet that sleeps 9 is 2 levels. There are a small set of stairs that lead up to the covered porch. As you enter your breath will be taken away by the amazing views from the main floor windows. On this level, you will find a fully equipped kitchen with quartz countertops, luxury Italian appliances, a large island just waiting to be used those big family meals. The open floor plan living area features large couch and a TV above the 20 ft. stone stacked gas fireplace. The room is finished off with a modern dinning table that can seat 6. --All fireplaces at this retreat are wood-burning! Firewood is not provided. However, we can provide contact information for a firewood delivery service--which needs to be scheduled at least a week before arrival, based on the vendor's availability, and the guest will be responsible for paying for the cost externally.

--Events of any kind are permitted only with prior approval.

--This home is professionally cleaned with each stay and all home effects/damages are noted before new guest arrivals. Guest should take note of any obvious damages upon check-in and notify hosts immediately. Should guests not notify hosts, hosts will assume damages are due to guest occupying property or will be noted upon check out and damage requests will be sent accordingly.

--We leave all of our guests with a starter supply of essentials for their stay. This consists of toiletries in each bathroom, a few garbage bags, toilet paper, a roll of paper towels, starter dishwasher pods, and starter laundry pods. Anything further that is needed during the stay will be the guest's responsibility. Kitchens are not stocked with spices, aluminum foil, etc but are fully stocked with dishes/ pots/pans/ utensils for your cooking needs. Linens are left in bathrooms according to the number of guests included in the reservation.

💎2. Mine for gems

Take a blast to Blue Ridge’s past. Miners colonized the area in the 1800’s in search of its deposits of feldspar, mica and quartz-basic materials which are used in products we use everyday, including ceramics, paint and electronics. Gemstones and gold continue to be mined by amateurs throughout the region. You and your family can be miners for the day at Huck’s Lost Mine. It is such a fun stop on the way to Blue Ridge, Georgia. The buckets are full of great gems, fossils and other great stuff! The staff is wonderful and so knowledgeable about your findings. The gem selection is fantastic and a must do! Great family fun with excellent pricing. Something for everyone.


🚴 3. Bike Through Bear Creek Pinhoti Trail

Drive up FS road until the start of Bear Creek Trail (Pinhoti 1). Just about 2 miles long, the Bear creek loop is an extremely beautiful scenery. You’ll also cross over a few creeks (be prepared to get wet).

The downhill is super fun, with creeks and good speed, I would call it "intermediate" in terms of technical difficulty and easy in terms of "strength".

Uphill is more challenging. I would consider it "intermediate".


🛤 4. Join a railbike tour

Visit the Freedom Rail for a one of a kind tour. Start an exciting journey through Blue Ridge, Ga. aboard the Freedom Railbikes. Leave the depot in historic downtown Blue Ridge and begin a 5 ½ mile round-trip adventure by creeks, ponds, vineyards, gorgeous mountain homes and cabins and a covered bridge through tall Georgia pines. Halfway through your trip, you’ll stop to take in the scenic views and rest before returning to your journey. Keep your eyes and camera ready for wildlife during this incredibly scenic hour and half adventure. Riders should be 4 and up, able to reach the pedals and pedal for an extended time.

🥾 6. Take a hike

Tumbling Water Trail is off the beaten path. Gorgeous nature, pristine river and rock waterfalls. This trail is 1/2 a mile to get to the bridge/overlook/falls from the parking area. I would consider this an easy to moderate hike. There are some tree roots and rocks to watch out for, but great for kids.

There are several trails to hike within the Walnut Mountain community if you are wanting to stay within the gates.


💦 7. Chase waterfalls

Take the whole family! Start in nearby Amicalola Falls State Park to enjoy its namesake 729-foot waterfall! It’s a breathtaking sight. You can either hike from the base to the top of the drop or take a drive for a panoramic view.

Lots of photo opportunities. The hike is steep but doable even for children. The trail is not really stroller or wheelchair friendly though it does have blacktop. The guest center has live snakes and turtles that kids would love to see. Parking costs $5 per vehicle.

For extra adventure you can join their zip lining tour.


🎣 8. Go fishin’

The community of Walnut Mountain has four lakes to catch and release fish.


🍺 9. Grab a beer at the River Street Tavern

Good food, good beer, good service. They feature some of the finest and most popular Georgia Beer & Wine straight from local breweries and vineyards!


🚤 10. Rent a pontoon

Adventurers looking for a view can't miss Carter's Lake where 62 miles of shoreline are free from private docks and development. Rent a pontoon boat for the afternoon or cast a line into the clear waters at the deepest reservoir lake in Georgia.

The Home Away Chalet is rustic and full of charm, an enchanting place to unplug, reconnect and create memories. This 1970’s built home has floor’s that may creek or slant a bit. We like to think this adds to its appeal.

The Neighborhood:
The Recreation Center is the jewel of the Coosawattee River Resort and includes:

An enclosed, heated Junior Olympic-sized pool with 8-feet at the deep end and a large shallow end for the small ones, it's comfortable swimming year-round.

A heated kiddie pool is available for the very little ones where they can splash & play in shallow water.

Off of the Recreation Center's lobby are the Fitness Center and Game Room. The Fitness Center is complete with treadmills, weight machines, free weights, rowing machines, and exercise bikes. Satellite TV and Wi-Fi are also available. The Game Room is a coin-operated arcade with games, pool tables, and an air hockey machine.

The Recreation Center also has other outside attractions, which include tennis, basketball, and pickleball courts, plus an 18-hole miniature golf course. The equipment can be checked out at the Recreation Center desk.

A large covered pavilion at the Recreation Center can be reserved for birthday parties.

Buckhead Hideaway is nestled in the first ridge closest to Downtown Blue Ridge, GA with all it's shops and restaurants. It is the perfect combination of convivence and privacy. The cabin is also considered to be in the Aska Adventure Area where you will find an abundance of outdoor activities as well as Lake Blue Ridge and the Lake Blue Ridge Marina. Neighboring cities such as Ellijay, Chery Log, Murphy, Blairsville, McCaysville and Morganton are also within 30 minutes.

We do recommend vehicles with all-wheel drive during the Winter months. The last road to the cabin can be steep if you do not regularly drive through the mountains. We have driven a Honda Accord to our property before.

Note there is ample opportunity to allow other vehicles to pass if necessary. The recommended route is now fully paved up to the gravel driveway. Four-wheel drive is not necessary.

We welcome young families, however please keep in mind the cabin is on a mountain, therefore it does not have a flat grassy area and supervision of small children is necessary.

This is an ideal family/couples getaway location. Groups should be aware that neighbors are visible and close enough that loud noise and/or loud music will be disruptive.

We typically decorate for Christmas, though timing of decoration set up and take down varies. Decorations consist of a Christmas tree and stockings.

Weather conditions and county issued burn bans may affect guests’ ability to use the fire pit or grill. We follow all burn ban rules for the safety of everyone. Weather conditions are beyond the owner’s control.
