Chalet Oz is a private, self-catered chalet located in the Oz en Oisans resort in the heart of the French Alps. The chalet is completely detached with its own front door. A button lift is located just 50m from the chalet giving a ski in/ski out location. Oz is part of the Grandes Rousses/Alpe d’Huez ski area which is one of the largest resorts in the Alps. The ski area has more than 175km of pistes and plenty of off-piste routes for the more experienced skier. Two Gondolas provide rapid access from Oz to the main resort area with queues a rarity. There are a number of aspects that make Oz the perfect resort for families with children. There are no cars in the main resort area. The skiing in Oz itself is self-contained. A carpet lift and 2 button lifts is ideal for children as they start to learn and develop their skills. Access to the high mountain is not possible without taking one of the gondolas. For smaller children there is a creche, La Petite d’Oz in the resort, which takes children from 6 months up to 6 years.

The chalet was extremely generously equipped in the kitchen, towels, linen etc. Again for party of 10 the chalet had more than enough equipment and it was spacious, at no point did we feel crowded. The chalet was warm, the floors are heated in most areas and there is the option to have a fire although we were too hot for that! Even after 30mm of rain on day one, we had space and heating to dry all our gear ready to go for day 2. Yes... There are some steps from the back of the chalet to the piste but if you're going on an active holiday... Maybe you have to expect a 3 minute walk here and there! Even our 1 year old walked most of them. Oz en oisans served as a good hub, we mainly skiied in Alpe d'huez as it was sunnier there. For our kids the availability of green runs was better there too. From the chalet, walk up the steps, catch the Clos du pre drag and then ski left to Poutran. It's a 10 minute gondola up to the runs in alpe d'huez. As we had a bit of rain at the start of the week, the run down under Poutran was icy so we took the gondola down when we had the kids or took DMC2 up and skiied bartavelle and alpette instead to bypass it. The TV was an issue for some earlier reviewers - this has been sorted. The new TV has facility to use your Netflix account or if you don't have one there are other smart features eg YouTube for the wet days or evenings. We had some rainy days and explored Oz en Oisans a little. They have a climbing room under the office de tourism (no equipment provided but there are big mats), there's a nice pool just below the sherpa supermarket and ice skating in Vaujany or alpe d'huez both accessible with your lift pass. If you do go as a group with young kids, try to catch the alternative sledging Wednesday and Friday as it was a great laugh. Absolute 10/10 experience from host to accommodation to facilities. The chalet is part of an exclusive development of 33 detached chalets tucked away in a quiet corner of Oz en Oisans, part of Alpe d'Huez ski resort, at 1350 metres. There is an entrance hall on the first floor with ski and boot rack and plenty of hooks to hang your coats. This leads to a large open plan room with fireplace. Two patio doors lead onto a balcony which we have extended to run around two sides of the chalet and offers a great space to sit, with wonderful uninterrupted mountain views. At the other end of the room is a large dining table seating 10. Round the corner there is a kitchen from which double patio doors provide another access to the extended balcony which has outdoor seating and a table which seats six comfortably and offers more wonderful views. On the ground floor are three bedrooms and from the lounge, steps lead to a fourth mezzanine bedroom, with restricted height at one end. The resort of Oz en Oisans, which is part of L'Alpe D'Huez Grande Domain is particularly suited to families, with most of the village pedestrianized and peaceful. Recently renovated luxury and attractively furnished chalet with free, unlimited Wi-Fi, located near the slopes with ski lift giving access to the entire ski resort of Alpe d'Huez 'Les Grandes Rousses'
The chalet, with its spacious balconies (XL) on the south and west lies ideal for the sun until late in the day and has a magnificent view of the Massif de Belledonne and the Eau d'Olle valley.
At night the house is wonderfully quiet and although a few steps away from the slopes. Thanks to the fresh mountain air, our chalet is also wonderfully cool and pleasant in the summer.

The chalet has an area of ​​150m2 (!) and can accommodate 12 people. On the ground floor there is a spacious and very attractive living room with a fireplace and a beautiful 12-person dining table. The satellite TV includes English and international channels.
The spacious kitchen is equipped with all modern conveniences (hood, dishwasher, 2 large refrigerators (with enough space for 12 guests), microwave, oven and four ring halogen hob) and large inventory. Delicious catering at a competitive price at home is also possible (booking in advance) through our partner Mont & Merveilles, chalet catering. Heated entrance with closet for skis and boots can be found in the entrance.

The chalet has 6 bedrooms (three on floor -1 and three on floor +1, one with balcony), all with two single beds (80 x 200); five bedrooms with views over the valley and a bedroom with a few towards the slopes. Synthetic duvets and pillows are provided.
There are three bathrooms (two on floor -1 with bathtub and shower and one on floor +1 with shower) with double sinks and three separate toilets. Tiled floors, underfloor heating plus electric radiators on -1 ground floor, laminate flooring and electric radiators on +1. Everything is perfectly insulated and the three boilers guarantee a warm bath or shower; Also for the 12th person!

The chalet is only about 20 meters (flat path!) from the staircase that connects directly to the ski lift. Via another footpath it is also easily possible to walk to the ski lift without using the stairs (100 m).
The ski lift to the chalet (at 1350m altitude) is situated in the ski resort located between 1150m and 3330m altitude ranging from Vaujany, Oz en Oisans and Alpe d'Huez to Villard Reculas and Auris en Oisans. The area boasts more than 250 km slopes, is one of the largest in Europe and has both the longest downhill (16km; The Sarenne) as the greatest height in Europe. For beginners and less experienced skiers, the area is ideal. Due to the high altitude and the large number of snow guns, the area is very snow-sure, despite the high number of sun hours. Alpe d'Huez is also known as "Iles du Soleil." There is almost always from early December until late in the season (late April) are almost skied to the door.

Location
The chalet is one of 30 detached chalets in the Clos de Pre area of Oz en Oisans, it is at an altitude of 1350m and situated between the nursery slope and the forest. A poma lift is literally ouside the chalet front door, this links you to the 2 main gondola's. Two gondolas provide a fast connection to the centre of the Alpe D’Huez or Vaujany ski areas. The ski area is enormous – 82 ski lifts – 250km of pisted runs (also the longest black run in the world – 16km). The resort has awesome off piste potential. The chalet has fantastic views of the Massif de Belledonne and the original village of Oz.

There is a swimming pool sauna etc - 5 min walk in the Timberlodge Hotel.

This beautiful chalet is located directly on the easy slope Clos du Pré. You can ski almost to the door until late in the season (end of April).
The short drag lift (200 meters) takes you easily to the gondola lifts Poutran (towards Alpe d'Huez) or the Alpette (towards Vaujany) without having to walk with the skis.

The heated living area is reached via the heated entrance with cupboard for ski boots. The living room has a large leather corner sofa around the wood stove. In the open kitchen, which is fully furnished and equipped with an XXL fridge / freezer, there is also a large, characteristic wooden dining table for 12 people. - "En Piste is a lovelly chalet in a great location, between the Cols du Pre green piste and the end of the Oz nursary slope, and giving the feeling of being 'in the wilds' while being only 2 minutes walk from the centre of Oz. The owner was always quick to reply to even some of the more bazzar questions members of my group came up with. The only negatives are that for people flying rather than driving bed linen is not included, though this can be added for a reasonable fee, and that the paths from the chalet can be ice - but it IS a ski resort, you just seem to constantly remind young children :) Will definitely consider renting again."

- "Tres agreable" - "Tradtional chalet, beautifully renovated. Very spacious, comfy beds, modern kitchen, great balcony, surrounded by handful of other chalets and forest 2,5k below Vaujany. Views are amazing, great for biking, walking. VTT on top of Alpes in Oz-en-oisans, great open swimming pool at Allemont. Great restaurant at 100m from chalet: Auberge Passound!" - "Have had the most amazing week stay. The property was everything we had hoped for and more. The pictures don't do it justice. Plenty of room and facilities for our needs. There were 3 familys with 5 adults and 6 children. We were able to enjoy some lovely evenings after being out on the piste all day. Good access to Vaujany centre from the L'eversin bubble lift. Would highly recommend. Communication was excellent and Etienne was able to answer all our questions. Thank you!"
