Ideal for families and sports enthusiasts looking for a peaceful, warm and cozy nest with panoramic view on surrounding mountaintops to regroup after a day of outdoor activities. Built with carefully selected ecological materials in one of the most charming villages in France, our chalet is located on the slopes of the Alpe d'Huez ski area (winter) and on the alternative route to the 21 curves of Alpe d'Huez (summer).

Feel free to rent either our cottage in its entirety, the main lodging (LesEcrins1, object of this ad), or the additional appartment (LesEcrins2).

LesEcrins1 is located in the upper part of our chalet, and can accommodate 2 to 3 families. The 1610 square feet are spread over 2 floors, and can lodge up to 12 people (less is better ;-)).

On the lower floor you will find a L-shaped living-room with kitchen, dining and sitting corner with Stuv30-stove, two bedrooms with respectively bunkbeds in the first room, and a 2p bed (4,6ft) in the second room , a bathroom with shower and a separate toilet.
On the upper - mezzanine - floor are a separate bedroom with double bed (5,9ft) + a second bed (4,6ft) fixed in the roof, a bathroom with bathtub and toilet, a reading/playing corner and two so called '‘mountain corners’ with two double (5,2ft) beds.

The large balcony is fully oriented to the south, thus guaranteeing you a full day of sunshine in addition to the unique panoramic view on the Oisans valley, and the 430 sq.ft. terrasse behind the chalet is an ideal playing space for children both summer and winter. Our big wooden table adjacent to the fully equipped kitchen guarantees memorable dining moments, followed by even more memorable passionate game moments. Also noteworthy: the Bekaert bedding, the barbecue, fuss-ball, raclette- and fondue appliances, our DVD-and games collection,...

Also included in the rental is the use of our unique professional 400sq.ft. wellness area with SAUNA (6 people), HAMMAM (4p), double Italian shower and relaxation corner. In case the secondary apartment is rented, facilities are shared (alternately afternoons and evenings).

Our vast garage allows you to securely store bikes and ski material. Thanks to the shoe-warmers you'll leave the chalet to go skiing with warm and dry feet. The washing-machine and dryer will especially be appreciated by both cyclistes and parents alf small children.

Parking space for minimum 2 cars can be found in front of the garage.

As mentioned, this lodging can be combined with the (smaller) apartment LesEcrins2 (667 sq.ft). Located on the 1st floor of the chalet, The latter can accommodate 1 to 2 families, i. e. 6 to max 8 people. It's terrasse, with a private 6p HOT-TUB, is also oriented to the south, guaranteeing a maximum of sunshine. Currently under reconstruction, LesEcrins2 will only be available AS OF JANUARY 1ST 2020.

When both appartments are rented jointly, all group activities take place upstairs.

* Skiers: the access to the ski lifts linking our village to the large Alpe d'Huez ski area lays litterally on our doorstep (you just have to cross the street to get going) and the familyfriendly ski school is just around the corner, 490ft from our premisses. We have boot-dryers and ski-racks at the entrance of the chalet.

* Hikers: our village is the reference trail-station of the Oisans valley, we are located at the gates of the Ecrins National Park and our main ski-lift connects us to Alpe d'Huez, so the number of trails to discover is infinite. No need to use your car when you’re staying a tour place.

* Cyclists: we’re based on the alternative ascent of Alpe d'Huez and the Cols de la Croix de Fer, Glandon, Galibier and many other less well-known but all the more memorable climbs are just waiting for you to master them.
In the evening you can safely store your bikes in our large 320sq.ft. garage.

* And if you’re just looking for rest and well-being: the 180° panoramic view on the surrounding mountain peaks combined with your private hot-tub will do ☺.

Think about doing your shopping in the valley before driving up to the village, or have it delivered on site when you arrive. The local grocery store offers a limited range of products and is only open in season.

The center and its local shops are located below the chalet with the ski school, the ski rentals, a supermarket and some restaurants.

The chalet is a converted 220 year old traditional Oisans stone and wooden chalet south facing with panoramic views of the surrounding area. It has been renovated to an extremely high standard, keeping the charm and character of the building whilst creating modern facilities. A new extension was completed in 2009 to provide a further 2 modern and stylist bedrooms with Italian shower rooms. Within the extension on the lower ground floor is a modern professional kitchen and spacious storage areas. A large south facing decked area with an attached sauna compliments the interior of the chalet for sun lounging, Al fresco eating and general view gazing! There is plenty of parking close to the chalet and a free village navette bus will take you to the ski lifts - 300 metres away. During the summer months La Source is close to all the famous mountain passes, including the tour de France route up to Alpe d'Huez. We have a secure large cycle shed with plenty of tools and stands for cycle maintenance.

The cottage is located next to the church, quiet, 250 m from the first ski lifts. It is divided into two completely independent and well insulated duplexes. The balcony on the ground floor overlooks a garden, no danger to children.
Villard is an idyllic place for nature lovers..... be careful no cinema or nightclubs, but grocery store and some bistros or restaurants where it's good to have a good mulled wine or beer.....

The space
The chalet was completely renovated in 2014.
It consists of an entrance airlock to put down skis and boots, a large living room overlooking a west-facing balcony itself overlooking a garden (with table to eat in summer). This room has a sitting area (with wood stove), dining area and fully equipped open kitchen.
Upstairs 3 bedrooms: a parent with shower and private toilet, 1 room with 2 bunk beds (i.e. 4 beds) and a room with two beds (which can be brought closer). Bathroom and independent toilet complete the set.

Facing south, the apartment "les Ecrins 1" with an area of 145 m² spread over two floors, can accommodate up to 12 people. Its large balcony throughout the front part of the cottage makes possible optimal sunshine throughout the day, and its wellness area a much appreciated moment of escape after a good day of sports.
"Les Ecrins 1" offers you all the comforts of a modern apartment: its fully furnished American kitchen allows you to cook your favorite dishes and you will enjoy depending on the season and your raclette, fondue or blueberry pie preferences around the wooden table.
After an active day in the intoxicating setting that surrounds the cottage, the sofas in the seating area with its wood burning stove will welcome you for a moment of relaxation, unless you opt for the wellness area with its sauna and hammam.
5 bedrooms (including two mountain corners on the mezzanine), a bathroom on the upper floor, and a shower room on the lower floor will offer everyone the necessary private area. The back kitchen with its shelf and second fridge will be much appreciated for storing food for a whole week.

Cyclists? Whether your goal is to participate in the famous GranFondo, La Marmotte, the charity Alpe d 'HuZes, the Duo or Triathlon of Alpe d 'Huez, or simply to climb the famous passes of the Tour de France, you will benefit from a start in force since the mythical climb of Alpe D'Huez with its 21 turns is located less than 5 kilometers from your premises. The large garage will serve you ideally as a bike room and the maintenance equipment will be waiting for you in place.

All other activities related to the mountain (hiking, trail, mountain biking...) are accessible from the chalet, located at the top of the village.

Note that the cottage has a second apartment "Les Ecrins 2" located on the garden floor. Although smaller, it offers comparable comfort to the first with its American kitchen, dining area and living room , 2 bedrooms 1 mountain corner offering sleeping for up to 8 people, a bathroom and shower room, a separate toilet, a south facing balcony with its spa and garden.

° Cyclists: on the alternative climb of the Alpe d 'Huez, the IRON CROSS passes, the Glandon, the ALPE D' HUEZ, GALIBIER and many other less known but all the more memorable climbs are available to you. In the evening your bikes are safe in our large 40m² garage.

° Vacationers looking for rest and well-being: the 180° panoramic view of the nearby mountain peaks is simply breathtaking.

Staying in Villard is an end in itself. You can only fall under the spell of this typical mountain village. Directly located on the large domain of l'Alpe d'Huez, it is still sheltered from the noise nuisance that can be brought by big ski resorts.
At 5 min walk from home you will find the sport shop (ski/snowboard rental, clothes…) and the local market which have all the products that can be expected in the mountains. Also, you will be able to have dinner here by reservation (fondue with ceps, raclette…). La Bergerie is another restaurant with a wonderful south-facing terrace that can be reached by walk (10 min) or by ski for lunch only.

Guest access
In winter, access to the slopes is directly at the exit of the chalet. The start of the ski lessons is just below. The little birds chirp right before your eyes from the balcony ;)
In summer, by bike, you are at the start of the great classics and, on foot, you have access to the superb hikes that the Belledonne range offers.

Great skiing in Alpe d'Huez and village atmosphere.
The chalet (170 m2) is ideally located in the upper part of Villard-Reculas, a small village typical of Oisan located at an altitude of 1500 m. The ski area (300 m away) is Alpe d'Huez (240 km of slopes, top of the slopes at 3330 m). The Villard Reculas ski school is accessible by a short work or using the slopes. Each room is equipped with its own bathroom. After skiing, relax by the fire or in the sauna.

Facing south, the chalet "les Ecrins" with an area of 340 m² is composed of two apartments. Its balcony and terrace, throughout the front part of the chalet, make possible optimal sunshine throughout the day, and its wellness space a much appreciated moment of escape after a good day of sports.
The chalet offers you all the modern comforts: it can be divided into 2 houses of 10-12 and 6-8 beds, some of which are modular in double beds or twins . Its 2 fully furnished American kitchens will allow you to cook your favorite dishes and find yourself around the large wooden tables.
If you are several families going on vacation together, this configuration will allow you to share common moments but also private moments.

The large garage will serve you ideally as a bike room and the maintenance equipment will be waiting for you in place.
