- "It reminded us (for those who may know it) of hill country in Sri Lanka. The views from the terrace and the small study area in the main bedroom are wonderful. So many trees and plants. The house itself has a small orchard when we visited it was too cold to use the swimming pool but in the Summer I can imagine it is perfect. For what the house loses in modernity, it makes up for in charm. Decorated with wonderful items of art from around the world there is even a telescope you can use to see the moon. The house has a few cats which roam the gardens, and one particularly friendly young cat called Tom. Who will befriend you if you let him. The house itself is large bathroom fittings are functional rather than luxurious but the beds are comfortable and the kitchen well equipped with a huge hob, a coffee machine and a large fridge and freezer etc. We lived here for a month and would come back. The host was very accomodating and the location is just 10 minutes drive from the sea, 5 minutes from Sintra, with the tram outside if you decide not to drive. All in all, a really interesting home, with character and warmth."

Did not get to enjoy the small pool, as it was in the mid 50's. One must be able to have strength in mobility throughout this house and Sintra. Close to everything but away from crowds. Located in a noble zone of total tranquility and of historical importance of the Beach of the Maçãs since it was the place of summer of the Portuguese kings in the past centuries.

This holiday home has a beautiful garden, terrace for dining, a private heated pool, parking for cars.

It has 2 bedrooms (1 double bedroom and a bedroom with 2 beds) and a complete bathroom. It has a fully equipped kitchenette and dining and living area for 4/6 people. The house has air conditioning and ADSL Internet.

The house is just 600 meters from the beach of the Apples where you can find good restaurants that offer the traditional and much appreciated Portuguese gastronomy (fish and seafood) cafes, bars, discos, tennis court, pharmacy, mini market, DVD / Video Club, MultiBanco , SURF shop and school among other facilities.

A tram connects between Praia das Maçãs and Sintra (World Heritage declared by Unesco) and you can easily visit its Botanical Gardens and historical monuments such as the Castle of the Moors, Capuchos Convent, Monserrate Palace, Sintra's National Palace , Palace of the Regaleira, Palace of Pena, Palace of Seteais, among others. Sintra is only 8 km away.

Lisbon the capital is only 35 km. There you can find monuments of great value, theaters, cinema, the well-known theme park "Parque das Nações" where Expo 98 was held, shopping areas, Zoo and typical Portuguese restaurants where you can taste traditional Portuguese cuisine and listen to the famous " Fado ".

Great place for golfers, for about 10/20 km there are many fields to choose from: Belas Club de Campo (Belas / Sintra), Quinta da Beloura (Sintra), Quinta da Marinha (Cascais), Estoril (Estoril / Cascais) ), among others.

From our house you can go to Praia das Maçãs on foot. You can also walk in the tram of the beginning of the century, which has now been rehabilitated and makes the routes from Praia das Maçãs to Sintra.

The beaches have very nice restaurants and good food. In the house you will find a dossier with the names, locations and telephone numbers.

In the village of Colares, which is 1000 meters from the house, there is the Colares Regional Winery, famous for its wine from the Ramisco variety, which offers wine tastings.

If you dine at home, you can stock up at Praia das Maçãs, where you will find a mini market, and a municipal market with local fruits and fresh fish and seafood. The Villa of Apples Beach is 800 meters from our house.

If you go to Cascais you can pass by Cabo da Roca (the most western point of Europe) with a magnificent view over the Atlantic Ocean. Continuing in the direction of Cascais you pass by the famous Guincho Beach where you can practice surfing, bodyboarding and Kyte surf.

In Azenhas do Mar, just 2.5 km away there is also an equestrian center where you can enjoy beautiful horse riding in our region.

We walked to the big beach with the kids to bodyboard each day, then back to the pool. It's cheap to get a taxi or Uber to Sintra to see the Pena Palace but go early. The cottage was fully equipped to enable you to eat in and Rosa stocked the cupboards with essentials such as coffee and even wine. A big bowl of friut awaited us on arrival. You can walk to the local campsite shop to pick up groceries or walk down to Praia Das Macas for local resturants and shops. Pool was also great. We will be rebooking."

The Blue House is located in a quite non-through and non asphalted road about 300 meters from the main road. The area is surrounded by pine forests and walks overlooking the ocean cliffs. The nearest beach is 1.5 km (4 min by car or 15-20 min walking). Sao Juliao beach is 3km long.

The house is not too close to restaurants, public transport or other amenities. Car use by guests can be advantageous. There is one bicycle for the use of the guests. Other bicycles are available for rental if required.
Ocean water is cooler and guests are kindly reminded of the danger of sea waves and water current. Children must be supervised at all times. The beach is guarded by a sea rescuer during the summer period.
Swimming pool might not in a good conditions for usage between 15 October to 31 May. There a few dogs in the neighboring houses so you may expect some barking.

Although the house can accomodate up to 6 persons, I only accept 4 adults and 2 children as maximum.

Guest access
A car is necessary, no public transports. 5 minutes to the beaches of Praia Grande, Praia da Adraga, Praia das Maças and Guincho; 15 minutes to Sintra village centre.
