Our whole ethos is to live as sustainably as possible and the electricity for the Cart House comes from a mix of wind and solar energy, with the heating provided by a super-efficient wood pellet boiler. The farm produces organic, rare breed and wholly pasture-fed sheep with no spray or fertilisers and minimal tractor use across the year. We aim to protect our soils and support a great range of wildlife.
The Cart House is a great place for a relaxed break walking in the Black Mountains, dining in local restaurants (including the nearby Michelin Starred Walnut Tree) and browsing the fascinating independent shops in nearby Abergavenny.
North Monmouthshire is renowned for its cycling on quiet lanes and rolling country roads with little traffic. For the adrenalin junkies, we are half way between Bike Park Wales and the legendary trails of the Forest of Dean and there are lots of green lanes around the far to whet your appetite. We offer locked bike storage, access to a pressure washer and plenty of local knowledge about places to go.
We can arrange additional activities, such as individual yoga lessons, wine tasting at the excellent Whitecastle Vineyard in the village, or occasional courses in furniture making, blacksmithing and cider making!

The cottage is also really nicely tucked away in the village and so when sitting outside you really feel the benefit of being in this fantastic area surround by welsh hills and the open air. Comprising a double and a twin room with an optional pull out double sofa bed, this is an ideal rental whether you are a couple looking for a romantic getaway, a family looking to save hotel costs or a group of friends looking to bunk together. Monk St Apartments are bright airy, modern apartments with views of St Mary's Priory and gardens. Situated just off the main street of Abergavenny, this property is close enough to access all the amenities, bars and restaurants that Abergavenny has to offer, but without the after hours hustle and bustle of the town centre itself. Less than a 2 minute walk from the nearest car park and bus station and only half a mile from the train station, this apartment is ideal whether you have a car and are planning on exploring the surrounding area or if you are more reliant on public transport.

The building is a 2 minute walk from the Angel hotel and a 5 minute walk to most of the restaurants. The famous Abergavenny food festival usually has stalls right outside.

The properties are accessed via internal flight of stairs and both has one twin and one double bedroom. There is also an optional double sofa bed which would allow 6 people to stay although we would only recommend this for short stays due to the size of the apartment. The sofa bed must be requested if there is a booking for 4 or less adults & a separate charge of 30GBP will be charged. The property has a separate kitchen and living space and one bathroom, all renovated to a high standard. The living room also has a dedicated work space with access to WIFI, for those of you staying for work not pleasure. There is a smart TV with access to all the usual apps such as Netflix etc, although you will need to use your own account.

We are happy to welcome children and as Abergavenny is a haven for walkers, we do consider pets but would like a conversation with pet owners prior to booking and an additional cleaning charge will be levied if accepted.

This lovely former farmhouse is situated in the village of Skenfrith, a few minutes’ walk from Skenfrith Castle, on the Monnow River, and just 6 miles to the historic town of Monmouth. Monmouth has the only remaining fortified bridge in the UK with a tower standing on the bridge, as well as a wide range of amenities. For walkers and ramblers there are great local walks in the Monnow Valley in addition to the Three Castles Walk, the Offa’s Dyke path and the Skirrid, 8 miles from the property, which has spectacular views of the rolling countryside from the top across to the Brecon Beacons National Park. The market town of Abergavenny is 12 miles away and plays host to some fabulous events throughout the year, including the award winning food festival in September. For Foodies, there is also the Michelin-starred Walnut Tree just outside Abergavenny, White Castle Vineyard nearby and The Bell at Skenfrith on your doorstep. Communication was easy and instructions great. Could of done with a clothes airer to dry the stuff that cant go in the washer dryer after a very wet and muddy hike but we managed. Maybe some bigger pots and pans if your cooking for 4 or 6 could be helpful. Again, we managed. Would stay again."
