The cottage was built in the early 19th Century and is reputedly the oldest in Bantry. We renovated it a few years ago and fitted new doors, floors, roof and windows while retaining as much as possible of the original character. There are wood floors throughout and a large kitchen diner to seat six. The kitchen has a dishwasher, oven, hob, washing machine, tumble dryer and Stanley traditional range cooker. The cosy but spacious living room will seat six and has a coal/log fire. The futon sofa will convert to a single bed and there is an additional guest mattress. There are three bedrooms, two double and one single. The single bedroom is accessed through one of the double bedrooms. The bathroom has a large cast iron bath and a shower, and an immersion heater for hot water. All the bedrooms have pleasant views of the countryside of West Cork. Outside there is a patio enclosed by a ‘living wall’ full of flowers and birds nests. Upstairs is a sunny roof terrace with views over Bantry.

Festivals: In 2019: the West Cork Chamber Music Festival takes place in Bantry from June 28 to July 8; the West Cork Literary Festival is held in Bantry) from July 12–21; the ‘Masters of Tradition is a five-day festival held each August in Bantry featuring a series of performances covering the full spectrum of Irish traditional music. 2. Security Deposit:

A minimum refundable security deposit of €200 (per property) must be paid prior to check-in to your holiday home to the local Property Manager/ Owner. In some locations and at certain times of year this can increase to €500 per property.

1. Heating and Electricity:This is an extra charge which is mostly payable to the Property Manager/Owner. In some cases, energy is charged at a fixed daily rate or a rate per unit on the units consumed or you are required to top up a Pre-Paid Meter while in others, energy charges are included in the rate you have paid. We advise you to check with the local Owner/ Property Manager prior to arrival how this is calculated or prior to making the booking.2. Security Deposit:A minimum refundable security deposit of €200 (per property) must be paid prior to check-in to your holiday home to the local Property Manager/ Owner. This is either taken over the phone by pre-authorising your credit card when you call the Property Manager to arrange your arrival time 48 hours in advance of arrival or at others it is taken on arrival. In some locations and at certain times of year this can increase to €500 per property.3. No children under 12:Due to the water's edge location of this property it is not suitable for children under 12 years of age.

Watching gannets dive for fish while at the kitchen sink was truly amazing. Waterside walk in to Bantry for a pint of Murphys in "Ma Murphys" bar recommended. There was no Freezer. We bought a tub of ice cream, and as a result we had to eat it all in one go. (not really a problem!) We had trouble using the oven. Our host Claire helped us out, but could I suggest that the instructions are attached to the wall by the oven."
