- "For the first time we had a slight issue with our vacation rental. When we arrived and entered the unit, it was obvious that it was not cleaned. Contacted the host and was moved to another unit, which was fine being it was exactly like the one we had rented. The only other complaint would be the heating/ac unit is extremely loud and was disruptive while trying to sleep. Overall we enjoyed our stay and appreciated that we were able to bring our dog with us."

- "We were the only ones here for 2 nights, it was so peaceful and quiet! Which was kind of creepy but in a good way, you’re so far out, you hear coyotes howling, and creaks in the woods! I call it glamping, because you’re out in the sticks but you have a whole house! the shower was sooo hot all the time it was great, water pressure was great. We brought our own food which fit in the fridge, we had our own cooking utensils but the kitchen was fully stacked! The stove top cooker would great. This was the perfect amount of space for 2 of us while we were here riding the Mesabi. We had a few fires late at night. We loved the fishing off the dock, caught a few crappies. This was an experience we won’t forget the place had its quirks and we hope to stay again one day. If you stay in the summer, bring your bug spray! The mosquitos are terrible! but that is everywhere right now. I had tons of photos and videos that I’m not able to upload so you’ll have to see it in person! "

- "Our stay for two nights was comfortable and what a cute little stay with my husband and two mini Aussies. Only problem was no WiFi connection for the stay(not concerning to us) was nice to unplug from the world but if you were counting on having it could be a negative experience. If you want to receive texts or phone calls you need to step outside of the tiny home( I beleive because it is made out of shipping containers) other than that comfortable perfect stay. Also bring along bug spray!"

This classic northwoods log cabin is perfect for quiet honeymoons, family vacations, girls weekends, or hunting/fishing/snowmobiling getaways.
Nestled on 6 wooded acres overlooking beautiful Connors Lake, Minnesota Kind Lodge offers a rare peace that you won’t find on the busier lakes, while still providing world class fishing & wildlife spotting.
Connors lake is a private lake with no public access. You often have the entire lake to yourself -with the exception of resident loons and herons. We have a fishing boat, a paddle boat, a double kayak, and multiple paddle boards available, but the most popular spot on the lake is the shallows in front of the dock just 100 level feet from the cabin door. Many great meals have been caught dropping a line off of the dock.
The cabin has all of the amenities you need to sleep 10-13 comfortably, with a giant sleeping loft and pull out couch available, but the space is intimate enough to use as a private romantic escape for couples and honeymooners.
A wood fireplace keeps the great room cozy on winter nights, and the also offers central heating and central air conditioning to keep the everyone comfortable year round.
A fire pit surrounded by Adirondack chairs sits in a clearing just off of the water and a grill is on hand for cooking outside.
Inside there is everything you need to cook 4 star meals- a gas stove, fridge, microwave, toaster, coffeemaker etc. We provide stainless steel pots and pans and all the cooking tools and serving dishes you need. The thick pine tables were designed and built especially for the space.
Downstairs there is a bar, and ice maker for entertaining.
Host your holiday get together at Minnesota Kind Lodge and leave your stress at home.
Have you ever wanted to host a retreat? Walk a short level path through the woods to a second space that is also available to rent. This studio space is perfect for teaching classes (tables and chairs available upon request) writing retreats, church retreats, yoga, dance, art classes etc. The studio space has central air and heat, and beautiful views of the surrounding birch, pine, and tamarack woods.
- "The cabin was wonderful in oh so many ways. The entire property was way more than we ever imagined. The remote lake gave us such a sense of solitude. A very relaxing getaway for all of us, (ages 7-70). The pictures don't do the property justice, it is absolutely beautiful up there. A wonderful memory for all of us." - "Super cool log cabin, fun water toys for the kids and adults. Pulled in a few fish too. Nice quiet area. Loved it!" - "This was a very nice and spacious cabin in Northern Minnesota. It is on a secluded lake that was great for fishing. We even pulled bass and northern off the dock. It fit 10 adults comfortably and there was plenty of space to relax and enjoy the outdoors."

Searching for a peaceful escape in the north woods, a fun family getaway, or a home base for all of your outdoor recreational activities? The Hideaway on Wasson Lake is what you’re looking for! Nestled on 25 acres of forest land with 600 feet of lakeshore, this cabin is a cozy retreat any time of the year. Ideal for families, couples, honeymooners, girls/guys weekends, fishing/hunting groups, snowmobilers, a comfortable stay for events or tournaments, and more!
The space
Well-maintained, beautiful, and clean cabin features knotty pine interior throughout, rustic and charming decor, a layout that’s perfect for families or groups, and all the amenities to ensure a comfortable stay.
MAIN LEVEL: Step through the front door into a cozy living room with plenty of seating, 32” smart tv, and a wood burning stove. You’ll also find a full kitchen, stocked with everything you need to cook or bake during your stay, including linens, utensils, dishes, cookware, and more. The dining table comfortably seats six, and there is also a high chair and booster seat available. Just off the dining area are two sets of double doors that open to a fully screened-in porch with additional seating for four. It’s a great space for enjoying meals, playing games, or simply relaxing!
Walk down the hallway just past the kitchen and you’ll find three bedrooms and two full baths. Each bedroom comfortably sleeps two people, and all linens and pillows are provided. (Additional sleeping space can be found downstairs.) There is also a Graco brand pack-n-play portable crib available for a small child, as well as an extra set of sheets for all beds. Plenty of space for families and groups!
LOWER LEVEL: Downstairs you’ll find another living room with a smart tv, double-size futon couch (sleeps two), a dining or gaming table, and another full bathroom. A single-size rollaway and futon chair is also available. There is a laundry and storage room with a washer, dryer, and plenty of storage space for outdoor gear and clothing. A pair of double doors opens to an outdoor patio and spacious backyard.
YARD: Backyard features plenty of space to enjoy year-round! Bring your gear or use the gear we have available (snowshoes, sleds, yard games, etc.). The property features 25 acres of woods and trails to explore. We are currently in the process of building a trail system - feel free to walk and explore the trails that have been created so far!
A fire pit area with plenty of firewood is also available just beyond the lower patio. Campfires are allowed as long as there are no burning bans in place. Don’t forget to bring the fixings for s’mores!
There is space for parking a couple of vehicles in front of the cabin; however, there is an additional large parking area up the driveway that can accommodate trailers and extra vehicles, if needed.
BAR-B-QUE GRILLS: We’ve got you covered with one propane gas grill and a charcoal grill located on the lower level patio, and another small charcoal grill near the lakeside/dock area. A propane tank is provided, as well as a backup tank. Guests are responsible for their own charcoal and lighter fluid - there may be some leftovers from previous guests, but that is not a guarantee.
LAKESIDE: Ready to enjoy the water? Walk a few hundred feet from the cabin down the path to discover 600 feet of lakeside shore on beautiful Wasson Lake. Near the dock you’ll find a screened-in gazebo with electricity, table and seating for six, life jackets, and fish cleaning table. It’s a great lakeside hangout!
The lakeshore at the dock is about 2-3 feet deep and is firm enough and mostly clear of weeds and lily pads. However, it is not sand, so although people can and do swim or wade in the water, it is not ideal as your feet do sink into the bottom a few inches. A better swimming alternative is from the optional pontoon boat rental - see info below.
Included with the rental is unlimited use of a 14’ Lund fishing boat with Honda 9HP motor (includes one full tank of gas), a 17’ Grumman aluminum canoe, and a two-person paddle boat. Wasson Lake does not have a public access and there is no access point on the property for boat launch - so guests will not be able to launch and use their own boats.
We provide one infant, two child, two youth, and eight adult (various sizes) lifejackets, but please feel free to bring your own.
OPTIONAL PONTOON RENTAL: Guests have the option of renting our 2022 Godfrey pontoon boat with 40HP 4-stroke motor. With plenty of seating, it’s the best way to get out and enjoy Wasson Lake to the fullest! If interested, pontoon rental is done separately via email and Square. Please inquire about pricing and other information.
PETS: Dogs are allowed, max two. There is an extra pet fee of $50 per stay, regardless if there are one or two dogs. This is done via a separate invoice and transaction after booking. Please indicate if you plan to bring a dog or two during your reservation request. For your convenience, we provide feeding dishes, scooper, and poo bags. Please clean up after your pet!
OUTDOOR ACTIVITIES: The Hideaway is perfect for all of your outdoor recreational activities!
Fishing: Wasson Lake is approximately 500 acres and spring-fed. Per the MN DNR it has 17 feet of clarity with a max depth of 67 feet. With four islands and numerous bays, it’s ideal for fish, including northern pike, perch, large and small mouth bass, rock bass, crappies, and panfish like bluegill and sunfish. In the winter, bring your ice house and gear and enjoy time out on the frozen lake.
Hunting: We do not allow hunting on the property itself. The use of guns of any kind, including but not limited to BB guns, bow and arrows, sling shots, cross bows, etc. are strictly prohibited. However, the Hideaway is the ideal home base for hunting groups as there are thousands of acres of public government land all over the area for hunting.
Snowmobiling/ATV: If you’re a snowmobile or ATV enthusiast, you’re going to love the Hideaway! In the winter, enjoy hundreds of miles of Itasca County snowmobile trails, including an extension to the nearby groomed Herb Brandstrom Trail that starts just a few hundred feet from the driveway. The local Swampsiders Snowmobile Club is located just three miles down the road as well. There is a large parking area off the main cabin driveway that can accommodate trailers.
Snowshoeing: Bring your snowshoes - or use the pairs provided - and explore the property, frozen lake, and more!
Explore the north woods: If you’re looking for a quiet and peaceful escape, look no further! The previous owners underwent a forest stewardship project by selectively harvesting overgrown poplar, birch, and aspen trees while planting over 4000 new red pine, white pine, and various hardwood trees. Already the pine trees have grown to four to six feet tall, and within a few short years, a new forest will emerge. The property is bordered by the lake to the east, another cabin to the south, and quiet roads to the west and north. We invite you to take a walk in the woods or down the driveway and roads to take in all the beauty and tranquility our area has to offer. On a clear night, look up to see tons of stars, too!
Guest access
Guests will have access to the entire property during their stay, including the whole cabin, yard, lakeside area, and 25 acres of woods and trails.
We communicate directions and access information, including lock box code, a day or two in advance of guests' arrival date.
NO exploding fireworks or firearms, including but not limited to, BB guns, bow and arrows, crossbows, slingshots, etc. are allowed on the property.
Other things to note
Included in the rental rate is a 3% lodging tax paid to the non-profit organization "Visit Grand Rapids" whose mission is to promote the Itasca County/Grand Rapids area as a destination for conferences, conventions, events, group tours and leisure travelers, thereby enhancing the economic growth of the area through travel and tourism. We (the owners) support what this organization does for northern Minnesota and the Itasca County area and thus have chosen to pay this voluntary tax out of pocket from rentals received. Guests will not see this additional tax added to their reservations, nor receive an extra charge from us.
Need more space? Check out our sister rental, the Getaway on White Swan Lake (see Property ID 2861714) located just 1/4 miles south of the Hideaway.

As if the gorgeous view of the lake wasn't enough, the sandy bottom and clarity of water make this an excellent spot for swimming and fishing!!!!
In this area of majestic beauty, you will find lots to do! There are trails of many modes ( foot, ATV, snowmobile) in the vicinity. Scenic State Park and George Washington Forest are nearby. A nice public access sits directly across the cabin on Round Lake, bring your boat, pull up to the dock, and enjoy a stay at the lake!
This is nature at its finest! At the cabin, you may encounter deer, squirrels, rabbits, and the occasional black bear wandering. The loons will sing in the evening. It's almost magical! There is not much for "city lights", but to lay on the dock and watch the stars is priceless!
Because we love our cabin and our neighbors, please help us keep the serenity of this place intact so that we may continue to share with others.
Come on up to Lazy Pines Hideaway, put the stress of life down, and pick up a few smiles and memories at the cabin!
- "We had a great time at this cabin on Round Lake in Itasca county! The kitchen, bathroom, and outdoor space were very well stocked, and there are two convenience stores about 10 minutes north or south that had essentials and more. We got a few more gallons of drinking water for the 4 of us as the well water was highly mineralized and turned yellow after sitting out, but the hosts also provided water. The lake is beautiful - very calm and crystal clear! We also saw and heard many loons, including one doing the “water dance” and a couple teaching their juvenile how to fish just off the dock! We were impressed with how quiet the neighbors all were even on a weekend in the late summer. There’s AC but we didn’t need it as the cabin is well-shaded and the lake was perfect for cooling off. We would happily stay again!"

- "Beautiful, clean, exceptionally well stocked cabin. Beautiful lakeshore and views. This place is above all quiet and immersed in natural beauty. This cabin was built with respect for the lake and others on the lake. If you are looking for a place to party or participate in loud outdoor sports, please don’t stay here. It needs to be treated respectfully." - "My husband and I had a great time! It was very private and secluded and we enjoyed the canoe and kayak!"

Great family cabin. Great for fishing off dock or bring your boat. Hunting with state land close. Also close to ATV and snowmobile trails. Stay active or relax on your private beach. Very clear, nice swimming lake. Great views. High speed internet. Smart TV. Laundry on-site. Close to a couple bars/restaurants. Sit by the fire and cook some marshmallows. Make this your home away from home.
- "We came to relax and to see friends. We had a great time. Mission accomplished!" - "Every year my 2 brothers and my boys have a fishing outing. We have been all through the state and this place by far left all the others in the dust. Amazing cabin on the lake. The hosts had everything you could think about or need. The fishing was so incredible that I will not share how good it was because fishermen dont share secrets. We all absolutely loved this place and are planning to return."
