If you are looking for the 'cabin experience', this quintessential cabin in the pines won't disappoint. The property was originally purchased and built by my grandparents in 1958 and has been in our family ever since; it was completely renovated by my wife and I in 2011. A small but efficient layout, the cabin has a wonderful screen porch, sitting area with gas fireplace, and dining room; all with panoramic views of the lake, which is only steps away. It has one bedroom on the main level (king), and a semi-private loft with two queen size beds. There is one 3/4 bath, and a great outdoor shower with views of the lake for those true Minnesotan's. The inside space flows seamlessly to a large lakeside patio with grill, outdoor dining area, fire pit and coffee sitting area. The rental comes complete with a pontoon boat (2023 Bennington), a 4-person paddleboat, a canoe, and of course a hammock in the yard. For those that can't disconnect, the cabin also includes two high-definition TVs with Cable (DVD/Blu-Ray on main TV) and free Wi-Fi! And don't worry, you won't be roughing it, the 2011 renovation also brought all new mechanical systems including air conditioning, new appliances, and a new Kinetico softened water system!!

Situated 5 miles east of the town of Crosslake, crystal clear Lake O'Brien is spring fed with a water clarity of 24', the cleanest lake in the entire watershed district. The lake itself is surrounded by mature pines. There is approximately 5 miles of shoreline, of which about a quarter of the lake is undeveloped state-owned property. During the summer, this recreational lake is perfect for fishing, skiing, wake boarding, canoeing, kayaking, paddle boarding and any other water-based activities, including floating on an air mattress!! There is a sandbar where you can walk across the lake which is a favorite gathering spot for 'kids of all ages'!! It's location on a quiet tar township road make it perfect for a morning walk or bike ride. During the winter months the lake is perfect for ice fishing, cross country skiing, snowshoeing, and is a perfect base camp to access the endless miles of groomed snowmobile trails.

Our property is perfect for a family of up to 6 or a few couples. We have a strict limit of 6 due to the size of the cabin and the single bathroom. We do keep our calendar updated and so if you are seeing availability then it's likely available. Upon reservation confirmation you'll receive a complete 'what to bring' list so you are prepared for your time up north. Feel free to inquire with any questions you may have and we’ll be prompt to reply! We pride ourselves on keeping our property and structures/equipment pristine and are certain we'll exceed your expectations in that regard. And further, since we also live on this lake, should any questions or problems arise we can respond quickly. In fact, your only disappointment will be when you have to leave!!

Boating--There are three nearby boat rental options within about a mile: Your Boat Club, Marine Max and Outlet Recreation! Jet skis can be rented from Seabergs just down the road. Or, Crow Wing Kayaks can set you up with a kayak rental or floating tube trips.

We are right on the snowmobile trail, close to bike trails, ATV trails, golf courses, the Whitefish chain of lakes, hiking, shopping, restaurants, bars and wedding venues. Loved the decor and historical items throughout the cabin! Outside included beautiful landscaping, lighting and 2 very nice decks off of the house and one below in the peaceful, spring-fed lake. We appreciated the paddle board and kayak. Right across the road was access to the Crosslake and the whole chain of lakes. Pontoon was fantastic, relaxing and worked great. Also, it was the perfect spot to watch the fireworks that were shot off from an island close to shore. Rob and Leslie were super attentive to our needs and always very responsive. Here is a cozy up-north getaway just 5 minutes from downtown Crosslake, 10 minutes to Breezy Point and 15 minutes from the Cuyuna bike trails. Our home features a lofted bedroom with two full sized beds, and a bunk bed on the main level. This cabin features excellent privacy on a 1.5 acre lot and is heavily surrounded by trees. Enjoy bonfires by the river in the evenings and drinks on the deck or head to one of the many restaurants in the area! ** we are pet friendly, however, there is a $100 fee if you are bringing pets. When booking the property please indicate you are traveling with pets.

There is a swimming beach, boat slip and pool house with hot tub, sauna, pool and workout room. Guests also have access to the Firehall with gymnasium, pickle ball, ping pong, pool, bumper pool and lounge area. Firehall can also be rented for large events.

We love to walk to nearby restaurants, mini-golf, shops and the nature center. The National Loon Center is located in Crosslake and offers free 2-hour guided loon tours with a pontoon ride. Many nearby attractions including golf courses, boat rentals, snowmobile trails, distinctive shops and excellent dining. Lots to do in all seasons in beautiful Crosslake.

Wonderful lake to be on with beautiful sunsets ,great fishing off the dock, nice beach. access to a pontoon if needed is nice also. Ate at the moonlight restaurant down the road in the brewery across the street nice location. Only downfall which is partially my fault for assuming and not specifically asking was quite a few stairs going down to the unit and very steep stairs getting to the docks for my disabled parents. Wi-Fi little weak in unit so used property one , worked better. Nice pool hot tub and sauna if you’re planning on staying in the cooler months on site. Thanks for a great stay."

The main level has been updated with new flooring and kitchen updates. It has a bedroom with king size bed, bath, 2 living areas, a wood burning stove, nice dining table and a deck overlooking the river complete with a table and grill. The kitchen is stocked with everything you would ever need. The walls are knotty pine and it creates a cozy atmosphere. The main level has an air conditioner to keep you cool. It has lots of windows to create natural sunlight shining in the living room all day. Upstairs is a bedroom with 2 twin beds, a loft, and a bath with shower. The property is only 1 mile from Crosslake, so it’s in a very convenient location. There is a outdoor fire pit by the river, and it’s very peaceful to sit down there and listen to the river. You can also hear the river flow from the deck. The owner of this property is very responsive to any needs, and has created a warm and cozy place for you to enjoy.
