The architecture is similar to the other State Park lodges, the rustic nature wood and stone construction which is beautiful and amazing. The lodge may be a little dated but well maintained and the rooms have received some updates. The food at the lodge was fresh and hot and made to order. The view of Buckhorn Lake from the main dining room is amazing! The employees were very friendly and knowledgeable of the area and activities. While the pool was not in operation yet, they had resealed it and painted it and resealed the entire pool deck area. It looked brand new again. It will be ready for the opening of the pool season on Memorial Day weekend. The pool is well stocked with new lounges and chairs. Another plus is that every room at the lodge has a private balcony with spring rocking chairs and a spectacular view of the lake. We will be back. "

- "Loved the outdoor activities at the cabin" - "We absolutely loved our stay in this beautiful cabin. The back deck was our main hangout from coffee in the morning listening to the birds and watching them in the feeder, to listening to the rain, to even sharing a meal. Our family had fun in the gameroom as well as playing basketball in the driveway. We didn't get to all the other wonderful things on the property like badminton, tether ball or frisbee golf. We could seriously have stayed in the cabin all week just enjoying everything they have to offer and not gotten bored. The cabin was also great for family movie night. We cooked most meals in the cabin. I was impressed with the shampoo, conditioner and body wash dispensers. There was also an abundance of towels. Our primary reason for choosing Red River Gorge was hiking to arches. We were about 20 - 30 minutes away. We had excellent days hiking to beautiful areas. Note: For tourist activities, we enjoyed an underground boat ride at Gorge Underground. We also completely enjoyed the Kentucky Reptile Zoo. If you like snakes, this is very cool. There's a cabin next door that shares the property. We had the place to ourselves for most of the stay. When the cabin next door had people, we didn't even know they were there. I don't know how it would be if they were using the amenities. Just something to be aware of. However, it made me think renting both together would be amazing with my kids and grandkids! If we come back again, we will definitely stay here."

Melvin and his daughter Sonia were both very sweet. Melvin met us in town and drive us to the cabin as the gps was a little lost. The cabin had everything we needed to stay in and the local diner served a very nice meal that we didn’t have to clean up after 😀 The fried green tomatoes and the corn bread salad at the Bus Stop Diner we’re the best."
