Built in 1893 as a farmhouse in the brick making town of Chaska, Minnesota, the home was owned by three generations of the same family since 1923 when it was purchased for renovation in 2019. Now it’s been transformed and is ready to welcome guests!

The transformation began in March 2019 with the goal to retain the original foundation, framing and much of the floorplan. Over the next five months, the house was completely transformed.

The hardwood floors on the first floor were brought back to life, a first-floor laundry and mud room were added, all the house systems were replaced, and a second-floor master suite was
added.

A completely transformed home was born ready to welcome guests for the next 100 years!

Bathroom 2 includes sink, toilet, and shower/tub combo. And the half bath near the backyard includes a toilet and sink only. We provide toiletries, towels, and a hair dryer so you can pack light.

This restored farmhouse features a large, open kitchen with farmhouse sink, gas range, and the original hardwood floors.

The kitchen has everything you need for a home-cooked meal. Appliances include a refrigerator, freezer, gas stove, oven, microwave, dishwasher, toaster, and coffee maker, and
the cabinets are stocked with cookware, dishes, glasses, and utensils.

Dine in style at the elegant table for 8 or kick back in the living room, where you’ll find comfortable chaise sofa for seating. It’s the ideal spot to play a game, watch a movie on the flat-screen TV, or recap the day’s adventures.

Step out to your private backyard and enjoy breakfast al fresco or wind down with a beverage at the end of the day.

We have many family members living in nearby towns which made it easy for us to see them often. We really loved having the enclosed front porch as it provided a place for our kids to play. The bedrooms were comfy and cozy. There were just enough bathrooms for our party of 3 adults and 3 children ages 6, 3, 1. The dispensers of soap, body wash, shampoo, conditioner, and lotion were a pleasant surprise. We did find a few things missing in terms of kitchen ware and cleaning items, (would have loved having a broom and mop on occasion), but for the most part the home is well stocked. Along with the tv in the living room, there were tvs in the 2 bigger bedrooms. We aren't very tech savvy so we weren't able use the bedroom tvs, but played youtube shows for the kids on the living room tv. The laundry pair came in handy; however, we found that the washer had a slight smell of mildew probably as a result of the door being closed when not in use or too much liquid detergent being used per wash. We like the detergent sheets provided as that is what we use at home. The backyard is fenced which we needed for our dog. The yard crew only mows so we moved the dead branches that fell off to the side of the yard. We used the new grill a couple of times. We bought utensils for it as there weren't any yet. We hope to find this home available when we return to visit family in the future."

- "I was celebrating a birthday weekend for my two older sisters ( age 70/75), and was looking for someplace close to Chanhassen Dinner Theater that the three of us could stay. I also needed someplace that was handicap accessible and allowed dogs, as my oldest sister has a small dog and used a four-wheeled walker. This place was perfect. The 2 bedroom apartment is located in the lower level of the host's large home. There is a separate entrance in the back of the home and very peaceful, quiet and private. There is a zero -grade entry to enter the apartment as well as a large roll-in shower. The furnishings are older, but the beds were comfortable, the kitchen well appointment with everything you would need ( there is a keurig in the kitchen) and very clean. The hosts are friendly and have great communication. The location was PERFECT! Located right near the MN Landscape Arboretum, within 15 min to the Chanhassen dinner theater, 25 min to MN's largest Candy Store in Jordan and we even drove 1 hr north to Litchfield, MN through beautiful countryside to see a movie at a quaint drive-in theater ( Starlite Drive in). You are within walking distance ( 2 blocks) to a great bakery/ coffeeshop, good restaurants and small shops. This place fit our needs perfectly."

A fall and winter wonderland awaits. Walk to our favorite coffee shop, boutiques, bars and restaurants. Gather with friends or family at the harvest table for Thanksgiving or Christmas, relax in the walk-in shower / tub room, melt into our comfortable beds. Perfect for wedding guests, girls weekends, adventure seekers, and visitors to Paisley Park and Waconia Wineries. Victoria's motto is the city of lakes and parks and yes there are many lakes and trails to explore. For bike enthusiasts the trailhead is just across the street and will lead you to Carver Park Reserve, Lake Minnetonka, Excelsior, and beyond. There are also numerous public golf courses within a 10 mile radius of the house. Not bad!

The entire home interior was renovated in February 2024. Each room is outfitted with new bedding, furniture, and furnishings. The elevated vintage design highlights the home's original charm while ensuring guests are comfortable in every room.

It is hard to miss the large fully-stocked kitchen and coffee bar on the main level. Just past the kitchen you can nestle up on the couch in the living room and enjoy movies on the 65 inch TV, or get some work done at the workstation. Adjacent is the dining room with a large harvest table suitable for games, puzzles, visiting, and eating of course. Walk through the original swing door back into the kitchen to freshen up your drinks. Off the front of the house is a 3-season porch perfect for that cup of morning coffee or just a place to lounge in the afternoon. The mudroom off the back of the kitchen is the perfect place to drop your shoes and coats.

Upstairs is the living quarters. Three fully renovated bedrooms and a huge bathroom with walk-in shower, soaker tub, and full laundry. The primary bedroom offers a king bed, workstation, and walk-in closet. The middle bedroom has a queen bed, closet and dresser, and the third bedroom has a twin over full bunk bed and closet.

The heated garage is situated in the back of the house. It is oversized and can fit two vehicles for no extra charge.

During your stay guests can use the entire house, garage and backyard. The only exception is a utility room in the basement that is typically locked and the only room that is not accessible.

The whole house is accessible for the guests but the detached garage is being used for storage at the present time.
Other things to note
We have added an RO (Reverse Osmosis) filter to the Kitchen. With all the concerns today over clean water we wanted to take the worry away. With RO filtration you get no chemicals, no impurities, no unwanted tastes, just clean fresh water. For drinking and cooking, from coffee to pasta, or just in a glass with ice.

Nestled above Hwy 7 and 41 which is a perfect location for Minnetonka East Schools and shopping, this beautifully appointed home has a 2 story family room (built in 2017) with custom remote controlled blinds, white kitchen with grey and white granite counter tops with a hint of blue open to the main level. Deck is on the main level as well.

Master is on the main with 10' ceilings, and oversized shower. There is an office in the main level and upper level. Three bedrooms and a loft on upper level, master bedroom in main level, all custom blinds installed. Lower level has a gigantic family room/game room area and a bedroom.

We recently updated to fiber optic internet (400MB download speeds) and have a wifi 6 nest system through the house. Which would be prefect for working, 4K streaming and connecting multiple devices at the same time - 2/4/2022

Fun things to do:

Walkable
North coop restaurant has really good food like chicken and waffles, great brunch, cocktails and beer. It’s a 3 minute walk from the house. You could see it from the deck. There is a taco place right next to it called BB papi’s tacos that has some of the best tacos in town as well.

Downtown Excelsior
Checkout downtown excelsior for the shopping and dining scene. If you are into breweries we would recommend Excelsior brewing (hailed as one of Minnesota’s best breweries). Everything is walkable in downtown excelsior so you could walk from the brewery along Water street.

Some upscale restaurants include Coalition (American and best old fashions) and Yumi Japanese Restaurant & Bar.

Lakefront dining is best at lord fletchers or Maynard’s. These are iconic lake restaurants that can tend to get very busy in the weekends especially during the summer. Plan to make reservations ahead of time if summer.

If you’d like to rent a boat during the summer. Most marinas have boat rentals. We recommend the your boat club establishment. There’s two locations on lake Minnetonka: smiths bay or browns bay.

This quaint, cozy, historic home located in downtown Carver is the prime location for anyone looking to escape the city and enjoy some of that small town fresh air. Explore our little town’s historic homes and shops, walk the trails of the wildlife refuge right out the backyard, or take off on your bike down the river bike trail that crosses right behind the house. This is a fantastic home base!

About the home:
This historic home built in 1891 as the Alfred and Inga Bom House, was one of several homes in Carvers original Swedish farming community formerly called “Swede Hollow”. This cottage style home features Greek revival architecture, gothic arched window hoods, and was built with buff-colored bricks from the local brickyard.

The home most comfortably sleeps 2, but between the pullout sofa in the living room and the daybed in the second bedroom, up to 4 adults and 1 child could enjoy this space.

Bedrooms:
There is 1 primary bedroom with a king-sized bed. There is a second, smaller bedroom with a small day bed (smaller than a twin size, so best suited for a child). For additional sleeping, the downstairs couch in the living room is a pull-out queen-sized sofa.

Bathroom:
The bathroom is tub-only; it does NOT have a shower. There is not enough overhead space to stand in the tub, so it’s baths only. That said, it is a great spot for a relaxing soak after a day exploring the town and trails.

Parking:
There are two parking spots in the driveway. On-street parking is also available.

Location:
A < 5 minute walk from the quaint shops of downtown Carver, Stuga House also sits on the Ash Street trailhead with direct access to the MN Wildlife Refuge and the MN Bluff Regional Trail.

On foot, you can set off on the Carver Loop Trail, a 2 mile loop through flood plain and river bottom forest. For a more extensive hike, pack some snacks and connect to the Rapids River Trail with over 7 miles of hiking along forested river bluffs! Carver loop is a multipurpose trail open for hiking and biking in the summer and snowshoeing, cross country skiing, and fat tire biking in winter.

Bring your bike, and set off on the MN Bluff Regional Trail, a paved bike trail connecting to the cities of Chaska, Chanhassen, and north to Hopkins. The MN Bluff Regional Trail is open for walking, running, biking, roller skating, and in-line skating. It also gets plowed in the winter!

Just noting again that:

- There is no shower in this home; it is bathtub only.
- The second bedroom bed is a small daybed, smaller than a Twin.
- As with most historic homes, the stairs to the second level are steep and narrow.

Our home faces east - you will wake up naturally to some of the most amazing sunrises you have ever seen. Approximately half of our 742 acre lake is not occupied - we are known as a more "chill" lake than our nearby well known Lake Minnetonka - which we all love for different reasons. The roots of Lake Minnewashta vary in a different way! Our lake is known for waterskiing - complete with a resident managed water ski course along the north shore. We are also home to one of the most well know YMCA camps - Camp Tanadoona and most recently the fall / winter Sauna Camp which is an easy walk in the winter from Lakehus when the water is frozen.

LakeHus is located just minutes to downtown Excelsior 8 min, Wayzata 20 min, Lake Minnetonka 10 min, Hazeltine National Golf Club 10 min, in addition to a number of other well known private and public courses. We are also walkable to well known The MN Landscape Arboretum 1 mile and approximately 30m to Mpls / SP International Airport. There are boatclubs nearby as well if you choose to want to rent your own boat for a fun day excursion.

This is NOT A PARTY house. We are in a residential neighborhood and we will only rent to those who will respect the solitude of our lake. Quiet hours are respectfully 10:30pm - 7am.
