Welcome to a step back in time! This is our "Old Farm House meets Modern Farm House". We are inviting you to enjoy the farm that I grew up on. It is over 100 years old. We have incorporated A LOT of history in our renovation, from all the decor, to telling the story of the family farm and the way things used to be. Some say it's like a museum. For me, it's a tribute to all of the hard work of my family and we hope you will enjoy that aspect! The farm has changed over the years, but the one thing that hasn't changed, is it's country charm!

All rooms have been updated back to its historical beginnings, from it's hardwood floors, to some original decor, but we've added modern amenities. There are 5 bedrooms. Four have full-size beds upstairs; the lower level has a queen. There are plenty of bed linens and extra pillows.
We have 2 full baths. The bath upstairs has the original cast iron tub, with shower. The lower level bath, has a walk in shower. Plenty of towels provided. Hair dryers and toiletries are available if needed.

Everything that you need to cook with is in the kitchen! Our updated kitchen boasts a cast iron sink, butcher block counter tops, coffee bar area and real barn board decor. The island is a converted dresser, which holds some of my mom’s favorite cookbooks, if you’d like to try a new recipe! There are plenty of eating spaces - one off of the kitchen and a formal dining room.

We also have a patio area to enjoy, with a gas grill and recently added a boulder fire pit on our old barnyard to enjoy, weather permitting.

There is a living room with a TV and a fun game area, on the enclosed front porch. I have all of my games from when I was a kid, for your enjoyment. That’s from over 50 years ago! We also have a video library of VHS and DVD's if you'd like to enjoy a movie. There isn’t Dish network or cable, but there are over 20 local channels. We do have high speed internet, to keep you connected and a landline phone, if you’d like to make a call using a phone book!

If you see in our pictures, that we have a quilt on our barn. We are one of 150 quilts located across our county. We have a brochure with a map, if you'd like to take a tour, to see all of these beautiful quilts! Ours is called "Rainbow Blossom".

At Christmas time, the months of Dec and Jan, every room is decorated. Because of safety issues, we just can't allow small children. I normally child proof the home, but I can't remove all the decor that I have. If you have any questions, please ask. Thank you.

While certainly children are welcome, our house is NOT set up for toddlers. We have a staircase of 15 stairs to the upper bedrooms, so safety is of our concern for this age bracket. PLEASE contact us with any questions.

NOTE: Must climb stairs — Entrance has 5 steps. To get to the upper bedrooms, there are 15 steps. Not wheelchair accessible.

Additional things to know:
- During the growing season, there are many types of flowers and shrubs in the gardens, that could have thorns, prickly leaves, etc) – young children should be supervised while in the gardens. If you also have an allergic reaction to bee stings, please know that when the flowers are blooming, we do have a variety of pollinators during this time; usually from May - Oct.

- Any buildings around the farm with closed doors, are not accessible.
- Fireworks, firearms, ATV/UTV and snowmobile use is not permitted on any areas of the farm. We do have access to a recreational trail that is a mile down the road.
- To be good neighbors, quiet hours are from 10pm-6am Monday - Thursday and from Midnight - 6am Friday - Sunday.

We take your safety seriously and want to do everything possible for your protection, while you stay with us. Cleaning and disinfecting will be done before your arrival.

The main hub of our county is the City of Monroe, population 10,827. We have 2 grocery stores and 6 gas stations. Also Wal-Mart and Farm & Fleet for any supplies that you may need, as well as many local shops and eateries surrounding our historic downtown. Monroe is 5 miles from the farm. This information will be available to you in a binder when you come.

Winnebago is a village 15 minutes outside of Rockford, and right off route 20. This is a quiet neighborhood of home-owners, with well maintained single family homes and lawns.
You are 5 min. from HWY 20, 4 min from downtown Winnebago, and 10-15min from Rockford.
Due to its dangers, the basement wood stove is not a working fireplace. The upstairs fireplace may be used if we have the gas turned on for winter, and the backyard firepit is available. Bring your own firewood if you plan on using the backyard firepit!

Bathrooms include a main-level bathroom centrally located with toilet, shower/tub combo, and more than enough towels to go around, as well as a private bathroom with shower attached to the upper master bedroom loft.

Enjoy a fully stocked kitchen and dining room, with generous grocery and restaurant options less than a 10-minute drive into town. In fact, there are a couple restaurants that even deliver to the farm!

For nights in, enjoy a large family room with streamable TV/entertainment center. Our WiFi is excellent; stream what you want to watch, or borrow a DVD from our collection. The tile floor is heated for ultimate comfort, and a functional fireplace made from field stones we picked from the farm adds the ultimate touch. We'll even make sure there is firewood ready to go.

Outside there is plenty of room to run around. Go ahead, burn those calories - or stock up on them by roasting s'mores over an open fire underneath a starlit sky. Some of our nights are clear enough to see the Milky Way. If outdoor barbecuing is more your thing, there is a grill plus accessories in the garage, ready to go. We'll even make sure there is plenty of gas and firewood on hand. While you're grilling, the kids can play with the toys in the garage, ride a bike, or enjoy the outdoor play set.

If you are a larger group, no sweat - there is plenty of room for multiple cars.

Horses have defined the human experience for thousands of years! Learn one-on-one how special and unique these incredible animals are, and the rejuvenating aspects of a horse friendship. We offer horse experiences for kids, teens, and adults for an extra fee. This includes a hands-on experience exploring the basics of horsemanship: We begin with grooming, tacking, and learning about the fundamentals of building a relationship with our equine friends. Each participant will experience the thrill of a one-on-one riding lesson, and will gain the experience and confidence to take the reins for a ride around our arena. All safety gear is provided and photos are welcome! No prior riding experience necessary.

Relax with your family or a few friends at our ranch located in a peaceful, country setting. Whether you need some time away with friends, or a family vacation, we have you covered. You can stay in the unique ranch themed house or head off in almost any direction and find yourself at a country bar or restaurant. Within a few miles, there are golf courses, wineries, country bars, floating down the river and lots of other things to do! Enjoy free day passes to Lake Summerset where you can enjoy the beach and pool upon request. There is also a super fun sports bar and bowling alley! We even have stables if you wish to bring a horse! In the winter, the snowmobile trail goes right through our property. KC House is also perfect for small events like a girls or guys weekend, a baby or bridal shower, or any number of other celebrations.

Guests have full access to the house/deck/ patio/yard. (Excluding horse areas such as barns, stables and arena)

The fourth bedroom is an open floor plan loft. This has a queen bed, sofa, chair, and television. It is beautiful and spacious, but we want our guests to be aware that there is no door or full wall dividing that space for privacy purposes.

The fifth bedroom is outfitted with two-twin size folding beds (one bed features a five-inch thick mattress and the other is standard) This room is located just around the corner from the family room on the bottom level and is more of a sleeping area, not an additional room with a door. ALL OTHER BEDROOMS ARE PRIVATE WITH DOORS.

We have horses on the property and are a full boarding facility all year long, as well. We feed & tend to the horses daily as well as other horse owners. You may see them entering the stable area or arena. This will not disrupt your stay and will only be in the barn & stables areas.

FITNESS AND EXERCISE - If daily fitness is a part of your routine, please ask about our gym located in Freeport, approximately 20 mins away. (Pretzel City CrossFit and fitness) We would be happy to accommodate you with a day pass during your stay. SAME DAY CHECK IN MAY BE AVAILABLE, MESSAGE ME TO CHECK!

- "Very peaceful! Very welcoming! This was a great place, blending old and new! Our group was 20 - 65 years old. All of the beds were comfy, the kitchen was well appointed. We really loved the outdoor cooking area and the outdoor seating areas. What a view! This would be a great place for a retreat and to unplug (although there is solid wifi and TVs throughout). The owner went over and above. We entered the house to an array of snacks and beverages on the counter. I can't say enough about this property!"

So comfortable that I’m now looking for the same model of bed to purchase for myself. Very clean and had everything we needed. We could hear the loud footsteps of small children above us, one time at 10pm when trying to fall asleep. But it didn’t last long so ended up not being a huge deal. A $100/fee/dog applies. This is a mandatory fee. To help maintain a safe and welcoming environment for all, we require every guest to submit pet or assistance animal information through BetterPet Passport (powered by PetScreening). Guests will simply submit “household pet” information, request an accommodation for an assistance animal, or confirm they are not bringing a pet / animal.
It’s free, and only requires creating an account if you’re bringing a pet or animal. After booking, you’ll receive a link to complete the process. Thanks for your cooperation!

✅ This property has special local compliance requirements which include a signed rental agreement, ID verification, and a security hold of $1500 (which is not a traditional security deposit, just a pending transaction). As an optional alternative to the security hold, you may opt in to purchase a non-refundable damage waiver provided by a third-party insurance company. The optional damage waiver is $49 for stays up to 10 nights, with an additional $2 per day for stays longer than 10 nights. Damage waiver purchases are optional.

As the property is being actively restored and maintained as a private wetland reserve, you may occasionally see the owners or student groups working on conservation efforts. They will not approach the home and will make every effort to remain discreet and respectful of your privacy.

- "We wanted a relaxing weekend getaway. This place was the perfect fit. The house was so comfortable and had everything we needed for the weekend. Fire wood was included for some nice fires in the fireplace and there was an outdoor pit too. Enjoyed the whirlpool tub. The property is beautiful with a small lake/pond. We saw lots of wildlife including many birds, turkeys, deer. It was very private. Also the state hiking/biking trail is right in the back of the property!would love to come again in the summer and take advantage of fishing and more outdoor activities. It was easy to ask questions about the property on the Vrbo app and we got quick responses. Would 100% recommend this place. "

- "Lovely little ranch in a quiet neighborhood. The house was recently updated. Perfect for two adults just needing a place to hang out, grill out, sip bourbon, and rest for the night. We toured southern Wisconsin and downtown Rockford for the weekend. Our host was very responsive with communication the entire trip. We had to ask our host for the check-in information because VRBO did not send that to us. Quickly provided. The exterior needs a lot more security lighting and some additional lighting inside would be a nice upgrade. Otherwise, we loved the stay. Thank you."

Spacious and serene space located in a quiet neighborhood. Second floor 2 bedrooms, one bath unit with private entrance. Queen bed in 1st bedroom, 2 twin beds in 2nd bedroom. Spacius kitchen with basic supplies for making and enjoying meals together. Off street covered parking, this home is located close to shopping and restaurants. Centrally located near 3 of Rockfords main roads to get you easily anywhere in town.

I would describe the duplex as a budget travel stay. I want to be as honest about what it might be like to stay here. This is a duplex and all of the furnishings and TV's are new. The bathroom and kitchen are outdated, but the appliances in kitchen are new. There is a hospital a mile down the road. It is generally quiet and peaceful. The neighborhood is located in a medium crime risk area. Its a place to sleep, relax and watch TV on a budget. You will have plenty of room and it is priced way below the nearest hotel. This type of experience may not be what you are looking for and it’s not for everyone. The price reflects the location.

The duplex is located within minutes from the area best attractions. Only a 10-15 minute drive to Anderson Japanese Gardens, BMO Harris Bank Center and the Coronado Theater. For the outdoors type, Rock Cut State Park is about a 20 minute drive.

The bedroom features a comfy queen size bed along with a 32" smart TV, and a closet. Sleep in on sunny mornings with the blackout drapes. There is a ceiling fan in the bedroom as well. You will have access to a full service kitchen, and washer and dryer if your stay requires laundry.

Any dishonesty with group size will be considered a breach of house rules and you'll be required to vacate.

The home is just minutes from downtown Rockton and other local attractions such as Blackhawk Raceway, Ledges Sporting Horses and UW Sports Factory and Ho-Chunk Casino Belot.
