The Oak House is tucked away on 660 acres of rolling farmland, with open prairies, beautiful woodlands, stunning views, and multiple porches to enjoy a birds eye view of the sunset. It's a relaxing and peaceful retreat, where family and friends can gather.

It was built in 2004, and features all the comforts of home.

There are two master bedrooms, both with king size beds, and private baths. One master offers a whirlpool tub, and walk in shower. The other a standard tub and shower.

The other four bedrooms offer a king bed, with a private toilet and shared shower, a queen bed with a private toilet and shared shower, two full sized beds with a shared shower, and a queen bed with a shared shower.

The kitchen is fully stocked with everything you may need to create and serve a home cooked meal.

The extra large screened in porch is the number one place that people love to congregate and hang out in. It faces directly South next to woods so you can watch sun and moon rises and sets overlooking 2 nicely landscaped backyards. There is also a lower level walkout concrete patio. Stainless steel gas grill in screened in porch (221 & 217) and an additional Weber charcoal grill in 217 to be used outside by garage. All 4 bedrooms are very private with no common walls or floors with other bedrooms. There are 2 master suites with high end Queen beds. The fourth bedroom has 2 twins in 221 and a Queen in 217. Lower level has an additional family room so you can have 2 separate areas. (Simmons Queen sleeper sofa (decent mattress for a pullout) There are additional mattresses and air mattresses and single cots available upon request) There are three (3) separate bathrooms with handheld showers with flow control.

The brand new water conserving appliances (dishwasher & washer) use very little water and combined with a water softener very little soap is needed for any washing activity. Literally 2 teaspoons for most dish and washer loads!

Please bring your slippers or house shoes since the floors are all wood or porcelain tile. (cool floors)

WiFi access with Internet speeds up to 400 Mbps down. Bring your own Streaming device such as Roku, FireTV, AppleTv, Netflix, etc.. There is a 60" TV's upstairs and 1 50" TV's downstairs. Upstairs TV's also have amplified sound with sub woofer. I hope you don't come here to watch TV!! Get outside you're 10 minutes walking distance to the big Glacial Drumlin trail. Go left for 7 miles to Cottage Grove or right for 9 miles to Lake Mills and have swim in Rock lake and go a little further and have a beer at Tyranena Brewing company [3 more miles] which has a grill there for you to use! Very family oriented. I love the great selection of bands that perform in the new beer garden in summer and inside in winter.

You are less than 5 minutes by bike to the Glacial Drumlin Bike trail that connects Iowa to Milwaukee! Cottage Grove to Waukesha is the popular local route that features at least 47 miles of flat biking! You don't have to bike - walking is great too! You are 15 - 20 minutes to many lakes. There are 5 Madison Lakes! (4 are connected and boat rentals available.) Rock Lake in Lake Mills has 2 beautiful public beaches. Sandy Beach ($4/adult) is my favorite with almost 1500' of white sand shoreline and has all sorts of rentals available. Bartel's Beach (free) on the Eastern shore also has a quaint set up with grills and picnic tables. Please search for them online. The water is very clear and you can bike there from home and have a little picnic! You are 8 minutes from Cambridge which also has a public beach and boat rentals. There is skiing all around us - Cross country, skate skiing and downhill.

The Island Lake house is right on the water with a private pier. No other house gets you as close to Lake Ripley or has better sunset views than the Island! The swimming is excellent with hard bottom sand frontage and no weeds.

The fishing is superb from this house without a bunch of weeds to snag your lines. See the picture of the small mouth bass caught from our pier in 2025! The State Record Largemouth Bass comes from Lake Ripley.

Lake Ripley is a wonderful place to make memories and get away from it all. If you enjoy fishing or going out on a kayak, pedal-boat or paddleboards, our no wake Milwaukee Bay is perfect for you. Don’t be surprised if you see deer, turtles, cranes and more as you troll around this section of the lake. Fun Fact: the state-record bass was caught on Lake Ripley.

During your stay, get out on the lake, visit the park, head into town or take advantage of the local trails. Take the kids (or grandma if she’s game) skiing or tubing. Stopover at Lake Ripley Park and enjoy its public beach with great swimming, tennis, snack bar and a playground for the kids. Visit the town of Cambridge, home of Rowe Pottery. You are on vacation so buy a few items at the charming shops in town and have a glass of wine or drink a beer at one of the local restaurants/bars, Cambridge Winery or Bourbon Distillery (It’s 5 O’clock somewhere).

Enjoy a scenic hike or biking on the trails within CamRock County Park. Bike rentals are available from the local Cambridge bike store in town. For those seeking to explore outside of Cambridge, additional restaurants and shopping in Fort Atkinson and Lake Mills are a short 15 min drive. The Johnson Creek Premium Outlet Mall is 25 minutes away and downtown Madison is a 35 min drive.

Sportsmen will appreciate the Milford Hills Hunting Club. Located 25 minutes away, it’s an easy drive to one of the Midwest's premier hunt clubs and wing-shooting destinations. The water parks and Ho Chunk Casino in the Wisconsin Dells are an hour away.

At night, you can roast s’mores around our fire pit, hit the drive-in movie theater or watch a demolition derby and stock car races at the Jefferson County Speedway. If the bugs get bad late night, head inside our screened-in gazebo.

A 1930's-era classic lake cottage, with log siding, a two story limestone fireplace, wrap-around screened-in porch with views of the lake, knotty pine panelling and open cedar beams. This two bedroom cabin-style vacation home has one bedroom with a queen bed and one with twin beds and an extra sink. There is also a double futon. The screen porch has canvas awnings for shade or privacy. The Great Room has mid-century rattan furniture, and a built-in hutch with mid-century pottery. The kitchen is small, but it has a full-sized fridge, a 4 burner stove, microwave, toaster, two compartment sink, a crock pot, electric griddle and a blender. If you have a bit of nostalgia for the Summer Vacations you had as a kid, this is the place for you! If you're looking for ultra-modern, this may not be the right fit for your family.

The floors are pristine maple in the Great Room and the bedrooms, Marmoleum in the kitchen and LVT in the bath. In addition to the stone fireplace, there is also a gas-powered furnace, or two window AC units for less than perfect conditions. The generously-sized shower is all tiled in, with a light and tall shower head. All doors are triple-thick knotty pine, and the hardware is original hammered bronze. There are some vintage light fixtures: a wagon wheel chandelier in the Great Room, wrought iron & mica lighting on the porch, and some fun mid-century table lamps. There is a Dutch door between the kitchen and the porch, a long picnic table on the porch that seats up to 8, with seating for another 4-6 in the dining area.

Lake Ripley is a lovely 420-acre lake, with an average depth of 44 feet. There are 2 public boat landings, 1 public (drive--1 mile) and one private (walk--.4 mile) beach, and a swimming and fishing pier, within 1/2 a block's walk. There are also 2 single kayaks for your use, with paddles and lifejackets. Easy walk to the pier with kayaks on provided carts, 1/2 block away.

The Glacial-Drumlin and Cam-Rock bike trails are just a few miles away, and it is an easy bike ride into the charming village of Cambridge, with several good coffee shops and restaurants to chose from. Fort Atkinson and Lake Mills are each just 15 minutes away, with fun things to see and do in each town, and Madison is only 30 minutes away, with a vast number of ethnic restaurants, pubs and classic eating establishments.

The screened in porch is the number one place that people love to congregate and hang out in. It faces directly South so you can watch sun and moon rises and sets overlooking 2 nicely landscaped backyards. There is also a lower level walkout concrete patio. Stainless steel gas grill in screened in porch (221), LP gas grill on porch of 217 and a Weber charcoal grill in 217 to be used outside by garage. All 4 bedrooms are very private with no common walls or floors with other bedrooms. Lower level has an additional family room so you can have 2 separate areas - maybe for the kids. There is a Blu-Ray players attached to upstairs TV that also have amplified sound with subwoofers.

I hope you don't come here to watch TV!! Get outside you're 10 minutes walking distance to the big Glacial Drumlin trail. Go left for 7 miles to Cottage Grove or right for 9 miles to Lake Mills and have swim in Rock lake and go a little further and have a beer at Tyranena Brewing company [3 more miles] which has a grill there for you to use! Very family oriented. I love the great selection of bands that perform in the new beer garden in summer and inside in winter.

You don't have to bike - walking is great too! You are 15 - 20 minutes to many lakes. There are 5 Madison Lakes! (4 are connected and boat rentals available.) Rock Lake in Lake Mills has 2 beautiful public beaches. Sandy Beach ($4/adult $3/kids) is my favorite with almost 1500' of white sand shoreline and has all sorts of rentals available. Bartel's Beach on the Eastern shore also has a quaint set up with grills and picnic tables. Please search for them online. The water is very clear and you can bike there from home and have a little picnic! You are 8 minutes from Cambridge which also has a public beach and boat rentals. There is skiing all around us - Cross country, skate skiing and downhill.

On average the place is cleaned for 7 person hours between groups. There is a $175 cleaning fee.

The main level includes 1 bedroom, one full bathroom with laundry, kitchen (dishwasher, microwave, coffee maker, cooking basics, toaster, blender, crockpot) and dining room. Pier has bumpers to tie up your boat, a bench and ladder to get in and out of the water. Lake Ripley has a no wake from 7:30 pm to 11:00 a.m. for you to enjoy calm waters for paddle boarding, kayaking and fishing. The driveway can hold 5-6 vehicles and has a basketball hoop. - The boathouse where the ping-pong table and the air hockey table are accessible in summer/fall months only, as it is not heated
- The homeowners occasionally bring their dogs to the property so this property may not be suitable for guests with allergies
- The dock is available seasonally from mid-May to early October. It is removed the second week of October

This cabin has one of the best locations on Lake Ripley.

The midcentury decor is updated with new appliances, central AC, remodeled bathroom with walk-in shower, new beds and bedding, and fast internet. Single-level, one step up to enter the cabin.

From the dock you can fish, swim, or launch one of our many SUP paddle boards, canoe, rowboat, or pontoon boat. An extra boat lift allows you to bring your own motorboat (for rear-engine single-hull boats). Fast boating only allowed between 11:00 am - 7:30 pm (although mostly concentrated on weekends). Other times reserved for those with a slower pace (kayaks, swimmers, fishing).

Closest city is Cambridge, a gem with a quintessential American small-town main street, pottery/arts community, good restaurants & coffee-shop & ice cream (and laundry). Madison is a short drive away. Other nearby attractions include Camrock trail system, a winery, drive-in movies, and oval racetrack.

- "This was our second time renting this wonderful lake house full of nostalgia. With its classic lake house styling and retro decor, it was so easy to put away the phone and enjoy all of the amenities of simpler times. We listened to records, played games, and enjoyed doing puzzles out on the porch overlooking the beautiful lake. If you can force yourself out of the coziness of the cabin, there is a wonderful dock for nature watching (we saw a bald Eagle), fishing, sunbathing and swimming. The Snellman’s offer a pontoon boat at no additional charge and we spent hours tootling around on the lake. Our family also enjoyed paddle boarding on the lake. There is a fire pit for s’mores and star gazing. The town of Cambridge is a quaint town minutes away with some wonderful places to enjoy breakfast and coffee or to have dinner at Plow. Lake Mills is also a sweet little town with a great brewery, Sunshine Brewing Company. We did pub trivia on Wednesday night and enjoyed a wonderful dinner and awesome beer. Lake Mills is also the place to go for lunch on Fridays when the American Legion opens up their storefront and sells the most delicious hamburgers and cheeseburgers. We enjoyed them in the park across the street. There is also a classic Drive-In theater near this cabin, so there is no shortage of fun things to do around the area. The Snellman’s were extremely accommodating and went out of their way to make sure we had an enjoyable stay. I would highly recommend this place if you are looking for the classic lake house experience!"

The space
This 2,000 square foot house offers open living areas to a gorgeous views of beautiful Lake Ripley. The upper level has a living room, dinning area, 1 bedroom, 1 full bathroom and a full kitchen. The lower level includes 2 bedrooms, one full bathroom, sitting room, laundry & screened in porch. Dock and boat lift have just been added/installed making it a breeze to dock almost any boat during your stay. You'll love the calm waters & no wake til after 11 a.m. for fishing, kayaking, paddle boards, etc. Included is a detached 2 car garage w/bonus loft area, which includes a ping pong table, couch, AC and heat, fridge and dining area. Excellent location w/easy access to Hwy. 12, golf course, bowling alley, charming downtown & other dining options.
Guest access
You will be able to access the entire house including the two car garage. The driveway is long enough to also fit two full size vehicles allowing for a grand total of 4 vehicles on the property.
Other things to note
The house is posted for 12 people. There are only beds for 10 people (1 King upstairs, 2 bunk beds (twin on top and full on bottom) in bunk area, 1 queen bed and pull out couch (twin size) downstairs. The additional sleeping comes from the couches upstairs, sectional in the loft area, and if you need to bring air mattresses.

We are only a hop, skip, and a jump away from Madison for a taste of the big city life and events!

Our open floor plan is great for entertaining! One of the living rooms and split bedrooms can be found on the main level. Our master bedroom and bath is located on one end and the guest room/nursery is on the other. The nursery is available as is or can be transformed into a guest room with a queen air mattress ready for your stay! We are happy to accommodate for you, just let us know what will be best for you and your guests! Another living space can be found in the basement with a queen bed as well as our great home gym! The gym and living space are separated with a walkway. Our large back deck and fenced in area overlook our beautiful wooded backyard. It is a great place to listen to birds and have your chance at seeing wildlife roam through the woods! Yard games are available upon request!
