Beautiful waterfront home, located on the shores of Lake Memphremagog, which is a 35 mile long, 350+ foot deep lake that spans from Newport Vt. to Magog Canada and has incredible sunset views from our vantage point. All the lakes of The North East Kingdom are great because of the lack of boat traffic, but Lake Memphremagog is something special: it’s bigger than all the other lakes combined, with no more boat traffic than any other lake, so it's much more peaceful.

Our house has a spacious living room with a gas fireplace; dining area with an additional 3 bar stool seats off the kitchen, for seating 11 total, surround sound system, a kitchen well stocked with appliances and utensils, 4 bedrooms with top of the line mattresses, 2 bathrooms, upstairs central air conditioning, a washer and dryer, a spacious deck with direct access to our dock on the lake, a lower lake side deck and a deck on the back of the house – all supplied with deck furniture, and totally fenced in yard for your 4 legged friends.

Plenty of outdoor activities include: swimming, boating, cycling, fishing, ice fishing, kayaking, snow mobiling, cross country skiing, snow shoeing, or just hang by the fire pit and star gaze in the evenings.
Just a short ride down our little street is a bike path that runs along the scenic lakeside all the way to the Canadian border. Don’t forget your passports because once across, you'll find a network of bike paths to explore with beautiful scenery and places for picnicking along the way. About 30 minutes away you'll find Jay Peak Resort: skiing, in door water park, golfing, and ice rink, and a great gondola ride to the top even in the off season.

A nice waterfront three bedroom home in a peaceful neighborhood located on a quiet Lane on the western shores in Newport VT. Great lake views whether your sitting at the dining room table, on the deck or lounging out on the lawn. There are two bedrooms with queen size beds and one with a full size bed. If weather is warm, the property has no air conditioning so it was quite hot for sleeping a few nights, but Lynn was helpful with plenty of fans. The remote location was nice. The White Owl Cottage is located at the end of a private road with seasonal neighbors. This cottage was built in the 1940's and it was there the name was established. The waters are shallow at this end of the lake (not the best for swimming) but there is 100ft of beach frontage to enjoy with 51 steps down stairs to the water.

- The Cottage has a main floor that is an open concept, with a propane fireplace. Grab a beverage from the coffee bar and walk right to the living room, main bedroom or screened in porch where you can enjoy the sunrise coming up over the lake.

-The basement has been newly redone to include two bedrooms that each have a window facing the lake. The second bathroom has a stand up shower and an open room at the bottom of the stairs with books and games to use.

- Outside there is dining patio set and fire pit with a view of the lake as well as a storage shed that contains different games/toys for guests to use. Top of the stairs is a small deck with more seating to look over the lake.

Guests have access to the entire house, at this time the garage and owners closet in the basement are off limit to guests.

5 minutes from Downtown Newport, multiple restaurants and views, this town is located right on Lake Memphremagog.

The town has on street free parking.

-Parking for 4 vehicles, please stay to the left of the white marking line. The neighbors to the left of the cottage are seasonal in the summer, please do not block their right of way.

-The cottage is surrounded by farming fields, please do not park in the fields and be aware that to make the grass grow the fields are spread with manure 2 times a year.

- The stairs are newly redone but are steep with 51 steps to the bottom.

- The lake water is shallow and "mucky" as the bay was created due to deforestation and the building of a dam in 1883.

-The beach is for guest use with a fire pit and firewood. The dock is the neighbors.

- If you would like additional kayak, canoe or paddle board rentals you are able to rent them from the Great Outdoors in downtown Newport.

Completely unwind in this spectacular all season, recenty remodeled waterfront home on lake Memphremagog. You can play all day, hiking, biking, skiing and enjoy glorious sunsets from the dock, spacious living room or master bedroom. The sounds of lapping water will lull you to sleep.

This waterfront home is on a point of land reaching out into lake Memphremagog just below the Canadian border. It is extremely private with a beach, lawn, a large dock and deck. It borders almost 1000 acres of US and Canadian preserve with walking paths. There is also a five mile long bike path that will take you to the town of Newport, perfect for biking or walking. Or you can cross the border and the path will take you about 20 miles into Canada. The paths are also great for X-country skiing and are groomed by a local ski association. There's plenty to do in every season, great restaurants, biking, tennis, watersports (you can moor your boat right to our dock), and hiking. The house is about 40 minutes from Jay Peak or Burke Mountain. You can also explore the Quebec's quaint Eastern Townships just over the border. Just 10 minutes from our house on the Canadian side is a terrific french bakery, so don't forget your passport, as you may be making frequent border crossings!

Our guests love the fact that our house is not a turnkey rental but a beloved family home, with many recent updgrades. In 2020, we added large dining room flooded with light and lake views and just completed renovations on our state-of-the-art kitchen in May 2024. Enjoy our fully stocked pantry and cooking pans and gadgets galore to cook up a fantastic family meal.

In summer months there are plenty of ways to enjoy the lake with 2 paddle boards, 3 single kayaks and 2 two-person kayaks for available for your use.

For those who need to work during their stay, we have starlink wifi and separate office with lake views and everything you need to plug your laptop into a workstation with two monitors and a laser printer.

- "This vacation was just wonderful!! From Booking with Adam, to communicating with the property manager, everything went so smooth. The cabin was very clean and inviting. Very much the Vermont rustic feel, just what we were looking for! The yard was great for the kids as well as the little beach area. The water was shallow enough to walk out a bit and still enjoyable to swim. We used the kayaks offered by Adam and were able to launch our boat and tie it up at the cabin dock. There was a little playground down the road as well. Cute little stores in the area, and we even went to Jay Peak ( about 45 min away) for a day and enjoyed a tram ride and insole water park. Fires at the edge of the lake and roasting marshmallows were the perfect endings to each night. Can’t wait to come back!"

This is a primitive campsite on a small but 20 foot deep pond.
There is a roof but no walls. You can drive your car to it. You can even get a small camper under the 10 foot clearance. There is a very clean toilet , and no running water. You can get drinkable water at the hose at our house 1/4 mile away. You will be by yourself; no other campsites. there is a nice fire pit with unlimited wood. We allow pets. You must take your trash out with you when you leave.

Although toni was really nice and offered us a place to stay under his deck we felt like we were imposing. Asked about a fire and we were brought next door ti another campers fire.
