Luckily a while later she told us that she was able to speak to someone at hotels.com to have it resolved. She was trying to be helpful and it was obviously a case of incompetence on her end, but we thought that if you are going to take bookings via hotels.com, it is better that the hotel train their staff better on these procedures.
