In 2015 we embarked to renovate this pioneer home, built approximately 1890 and 7 miles from its current location, into a cozy space with modern-day amenities while retaining its authentic appeal. It took us a year and a half to build a foundation, plumb and wire it, sand and scrub, build cabinetry from barn wood, oil and paint, build furniture, and locate period pieces that were suitable for the feel of the cabin. There is a claw foot tub with a shower handle and a large, private outdoor shower with hot and cold water.

The cabin is surrounded by gardens. Stunning views of the nearby mountains are seen from within the cabin and from the front and back porches. While relaxing on the porch it is common to see tractors slowly roll down Center Street to the neighboring fields to the south. The sights and sounds of chickens, horses, cows, sheep and the multitude of bird and insect species fill your senses. The night skies are one of the darkest skies in the U.S. A multitude of hiking trails for all levels of experience are only minutes from the cabin. Escalante Petrified Forest State Park, 5 miles west of the cabin, offers opportunities for fishing, boating, swimming, picnicking and hiking.

As our guests, you have access to the use of the cabin, relaxing in the gardens, and harvesting fruit or veggies for your meals when available. If you need the use of a washer or dryer, please contact us. We are willing to share our personal appliances.

Escalante Escapes' Fox Tail is a new tiny home built with you in mind! It's our largest model at 570 square feet with 400 square feet on the main level and the open loft adding an additional 170 square feet. It's a peaceful hideaway in the beautiful southern Utah high desert where you'll make the memories of a lifetime.

The master bedroom features a queen bed, a flat screen Smart TV, a small desktop workspace that's convenient for working on a laptop or getting ready for the day, a place to hang clothes, additional storage space under the bed for luggage, and a thermostat for individual climate control.

The loft area is open to the kitchen and living room and has two XL (extra long) twin beds. This is a great space to play games, store extra gear, or just stretch out and relax. The ceiling height is just under 5 feet, so you big kids don't plan on running around up there.

The kitchen and living room feature an open floor plan with a sliding glass door that opens to the deck, where you can sit and take in the incredible views. The living room has a queen-sized sofa sleeper, two lounging chairs, a hand-crafted coffee table with extra bedding storage, and large Smart TV. There is a Kuerig for coffee, and k-cups are included. Salt and pepper are provided, but anything else will have to be brought in. There is a grill available for use, but one evening it was so windy the flames kept going out. There is also a nice firepit for cool evenings, if it isn't too windy. Also included is a washer and dryer, and even laundry detergent. The TV works fine if you have an account to log into for Netflix, or another streaming service. The only downside is that it's pretty pricey. And the included maintenance fee seems high, considering we had to take the sheets off the beds, put all the dirty towels in the shower, take out the trash, and run the dishwasher before we left. I would absolutely stay here again if it wasn't for that."

We provide Direct tv and wifi. In the bathroom is a walk-in shower with "family-style" shampoo/conditioner, shower gel, and lotion, toilet, vanity, hairdryer, and towels. Each of the rooms has their own entrance and heating/air. Outside each door is a patio with outdoor furniture that you can sit on and enjoy your evening. Parking is available right in front of your room and only a few steps up to get to your room. All rooms are NO-smoking, NO pets, and children only 16 and older.
Cowboy Country Inn is a unique, small-town, western style motel with "themed" rooms. The motel has been in the family for many years and we recently remodeled and updated the rooms. Each room has it's own entrance from the front porch. The front porch has outdoor furniture where you can sit and breath the fresh, clean air and enjoy a glass of wine and reminisce about your adventures that day or make plans for your next exploration.
Our room availabilities are for a queen, king or two queen beds. Please specify which type of room you prefer when you make your reservation.

Our property is off of the Main Street so parking is safe and the rooms are quiet. We ask that all bicycles stay out of the rooms and are chained up outside to prevent damage to the carpets.
