- "Staff went above and beyond to accommodate." - "Excellent location, great cabin, great breakfast (especially for the USA - I am European) and very friendly staff. The only minor minus point: I was there in the winter and on very cold days the heater could have been a little bit more powerful. However, it was warm enough and I did not light the stove either." - "The staff was friendly and helpful. The location is perfect for visiting West Yellowstone and Big Sky. The accommodations were very comfortable and clean. The breakfast each day was amazing. Too bad the restaurant wasn't open during the winter months."

Originally a dude ranch, Karst Camp was established in 1901 by Pete Karst. It was the gateway to Yellowstone National Park for early tourists. The camp, known as Karst Stage Stop Inn, saw up to 600 tourists per summer with 25 guests cabins. In 1937, Pete built a towrope for skiers, which has since vanished, as well as a bar and brothel for local miners. Visitors can imagine the rugged conditions both residents and tourists must have had to endure to appreciate Yellowstone Country 100 years ago.
In the summer, you are just minutes from exceptional fly fishing, river rafting, golfing, hiking, mountain biking, horseback riding, ziplining and more. Plus, the West entrance of Yellowstone National Park is only about 45 minutes away while following the historic HWY 191 along the scenic Gallatin River. Please come and enjoy comfortable and relaxing vacation in rural Montana!!
- "Very serene cabin, can hear the sound of the river like white noise if you open the window." - "As far as the view and location goes, the pictures do this spot no justice. It is simply beautiful, and driving to Bozeman is quicker than I expected. The only thing I would mention is that the bedroom upstairs is up a set of stairs that may as well be a ladder - similar to attic stairs. If you're fully mobile It is amazing. Comfortable beds and amazing views. Couldn't have been better for us."

Experience the quiet solitude of old Montana, yet have easy access to the amenities of a modern resort community.
Nestled in the Gallatin Valley minutes from Big Sky Resort and town center, this well-appointed, 2-bedroom log cabin style home, built in the 1990s, features a full kitchen, full bath and a living/dining room. Yes, there is a queen-size bed in one bedroom, two twin beds in the other bedroom, and one queen-size fold-out sofa in the living room.
But, you will probably want to spend all of your time outside - summer and winter! You will be surrounded by, a private, century-old, 250 acre homestead with miles (7KM) of groomed walking and skiing trails, a private pond for fishing, big Montana skies, and incredible views of the Gallatin Range, Ramshorn Peak and the Porcupine Wilderness Management Area.
The cabin's property provides winter range for elk, moose and deer and a well-marked and a private trail system for summer and winter. In the summer you will hike the trails searching for recently shed antlers and photographing the bird life and wild flowers. The private trout pond is well-stocked for catch and release fishing from the shore, floating dock or provided canoe. Ferry yourself and a friend to the dock in the center of the pond and spend the day lounging. There is a small fire pit on the shore side deck near the pond and a larger open pit fire ring with seating to watch the sunset and moon rise while BBQing on the fire's adjustable cooking grate. Fireside stargazing, away from light pollution, is spectacular!
In the winter, snowshoeing and cross-country skiing on the groomed trails, range from beginner to advanced, and are perfect activities for the whole family. The cozy cabin is warm and the kitchen has the tools you need to make a feast.
The private road is plowed but we still recommend 4 WD vehicles from December through March. Our road is not always plowed first thing in the morning so if you are set on getting 'first tracks' up at Big Sky Resort, this may not be the best place for you.
In 2007, a conservation easement was established on the property to protect the undeveloped land surrounding the cabin. This short video describes the family history and the conservation effort: https://youtu.be/j9-eDh5IuBM
30 minutes drive from the cabin to the alpine ski-area complex at Big Sky and Moonlight Basin. 45 minutes by car to Yellowstone National Park. this will be your home base for many adventures.
Other nearby amenities include Lone Mountain Ranch Nordic Resort with 80km of groomed ski trails and 20 km of snowshoe trails and sleigh/hay ride dinners; outstanding restaurants, shops and boutiques; Big Sky Meadow Village 18-hole golf course and trout fishing on the blue ribbon Gallatin River and nearby streams. Tennis is available at the Big Sky Tennis Club and on public courts at Ophir School.
- "Our family truly enjoyed our stay in this remote cozy cabin. We took advantage of all the hiking trails, the gorgeous view while sitting around the fire pit and of course we were fortunate to see a bunch of elk in the area. Would highly recommend this property and owners if you’re looking for a peaceful getaway." - "great classic cabin in the woods with a nice pond" - "This experience in the winter time was just what we were looking for! Lots of snow, close to Snowmobiling, Excellent Zip Lining and just a short drive to Yellowstone. The Host was the BEST, was available for help with everything and even helping us getting down the snow covered mile long driveway the day we left. A Four-Wheel drive is a must in winter time! We highly recommend this property❤️❤️"

- "very good, just a little bit hard to get into the park way during the snow day" - "Just what we needed for a peaceful relaxing few days. Everything's we needed and more. " - "This property is perfect for a quiet stay in the mountains of MT. The property was very clean and the check in process was easy! " - "Wonderful stay, looks just like the pictures. Very cozy and super close to the river. If you open a window at night you can hear the river and it’s very relaxing. We loved the taxidermy and that when we got there they had a bag of cookies on the counter with all the information we would need. We would absolutely stay there again. "
