It is believed that their intent was to rent the cottage to visitors of Yellowstone, making it a very early vacation rental in this town. The cottage is a perfect fit for two people who want to day trip to northern Yellowstone, book local activities like rafting, biking, horseback riding, and return to a simple, basic, clean environment to relax. With the North Entrance to Yellowstone National Park only 5 miles away, there is plenty to see and do. Spend time white water rafting, horseback riding, fly fishing or just traveling through the Park to return to this peaceful area each evening. There is an outdoor grill and campfire ring with all of the necessary charcoal and firewood available for use. For larger family gatherings the option of an RV site hook up or lawn space for a tent set up are available accommodations that can be made at the time of booking.

Cabin By the River was built in 1995 and rests on the banks of the Yellowstone River, 10.5 miles north of Gardiner, Montana, the only year around entrance to Yellowstone Park. We have fully recovered from the historic 2022 flood and enjoy full access to Yellowstone Park. The cabin is situated on about 5 acres in the upper Paradise Valley, south of Yankee Jim Canyon and north of Corwin Springs, Montana. We enjoy a country setting with neighbors across grassy fields.

The cabin is decorated in country cabin decor and will sleep five. There is a queen bed in the main floor bedroom and a queen and a single bed in the sleeping loft. The front porch overlooks the river and offers a porch swing, table and chairs and a gas bbq. For rainy days, there are reading materials, games, Dish TV and DVD player with a selection of movies. The small kitchen offers a full size range and refrigerator. Dishes, utensils, coffee maker, crock pot & a brief pantry are provided.

The bathroom is a tub/shower combination. Linens, towels and paper products are provided.

Wifi service is available but caution that we are in a mountainous area and it is sometimes undependable. Your Verizon cell phone works well but is the predominant cell Service in our area.

We have a fire ring down along side the river for marsh mellow roasting or just enjoying.
In the grassy area above the cabin there is a swing set, yard games and tether ball, lots of area to run and play. Fishing in the Yellowstone River from our property can be successful and a great experience in a blue ribbon trout stream.

We are only 10 minutes to Gardiner, the north entrance to Yellowstone. Our guests enjoy coming out of the Park in the evening to the quiet setting of the Cabin By the River. We do have a 4 night minimum.

Yellowstone Riverview Retreat

Yellowstone Riverview Retreat is a tastefully furnished lodge-style home located just three miles north of the original entrance to Yellowstone National Park in Gardiner, Montana. This property offers guests the perfect setting for fishing, photography, wildlife observation, family gatherings, or simply relaxing along the banks of the Yellowstone River, with stunning views of Yellowstone Park just across the water.

Set on three acres surrounded by mature trees, the retreat boasts a spacious and private backyard. Bear spray is supplied for hiking excursions.

Location and Wildlife
Located far enough from town to ensure peace and quiet, yet close enough for convenient access to supplies, the retreat offers a tranquil setting for guests. Depending on the season, wildlife such as mule deer, elk, buffalo, grizzly and black bears, may be seen in the yard.

It has full hookups and the area is completely yours. There are no other renters, campers or RV's on location. The location is just 10 miles from Gardiner, the North Gate to Yellowstone. From your front door and deck, you have a beautiful view of the Absaroka Mountains and the property adjoins National Forest. This bright and sunny apartment has all you need for a great Yellowstone vacation. Located in a quiet residential area of Gardiner, you will be able to relax and get away from it all. It is the ground floor of a shared facility with the property owner. There is one flight of stairs from the parking area to the apartment entrance. This rental is also an Audubon birder’s paradise, with the opportunity to see and photograph western birds right out your window. Feeders and a water feature offer chances to see a variety of species including towhees, chickadees, tanagers, siskins, warblers, and others during the spring season. The spectacular views look out on Gallatin National Forest as well as Electric Peak in Yellowstone Park. Wildlife such as mule deer and elk are also seen wandering this neighborhood, especially in the wintertime. Incredible fly fishing for cutthroat, rainbow, and brown trout is available on the beautiful Yellowstone River located less than a mile away. Cross country skiing and hiking trails are easily accessed either in nearby Gallatin National Forest or Yellowstone Park.

This apartment has two bedrooms and one bath. Each bedroom has a comfortable queen bed. An queen sofa bed can also be used for additional sleeping arrangements. The living room is furnished with a satellite TV and DVD player for those rainy days. There are also board games for the whole family. The kitchen is fully furnished with a refrigerator, stove, dishwasher and microwave. A barbecue grill is also available for grilling out. A spacious and beautifully landscaped yard around the apartment will invite you to sit outside. This apartment is also equipped with satellite wifi internet to keep you connected while on vacation. A washer and dryer are also available in this rental.

The town of Gardiner has all the amenities you need such as a grocery store, restaurants, food trucks, fishing guides, rafting companies, horseback riding, art galleries, gift shops, gas stations, post office etc all within walking distance. It is the first and oldest entrance to Yellowstone National Park. It quite often has an abundance of wildlife wandering the streets and foothills.

Take a step back in time and delve into the rich history of the area. Our 1916 Schoolhouse is located on the historic Stermitz Ranch in beautiful Cinnabar Basin, Gardiner, Montana. This is the original location of the school, which provided a much needed learning place for the children in this rural area - many of whose families immigrated to the area to work in coal mines.

In 2009-2010, the schoolhouse was completely renovated to preserve the structure and maintain the historic integrity of the building. Many of the original items are on display for all to enjoy.

From the moment you drive to the schoolhouse on the hill, you will be amazed by the breathtaking views. Once you set foot inside, you are in for a relaxing vacation. The schoolhouse boasts several tall windows, each with spectacular mountain views - aspen trees and wildlife abound. Watch deer, elk, and the occasional moose graze in the meadow out the front door. Bears, wolves, and coyotes are sometimes spotted on nearby hills and fields.

Experience what life is like on a western ranch. We raise American Quarter Horses, and generally have at least one new foal every summer. Last summer our cabin guests were fortunate enough to witness the birth! The ranch is also home to chickens,pigs,cows,dogs, and cats.

- "Fantastic property with horse back riding and beautiful sunsets. Loved that there was no service so we read and did a puzzle. Make sure to pack allergy medicine bc it is an old property that sheds dust and the bugs around Yellowstone come out around 10am so pack lots of bug spray. They have literally everything like a grill and cooler that we wish we utilized but will the next time we stay! Perfect for a couple, any more than 2 adults will have to set up the mattress on the floor or sleep on the couch like me. But worth it for the amazing experience Stacy and Montana has to offer"

Montana's Yellowstone Hideaway is a one bedroom apartment with a full kitchen, large bathroom, spacious shower and living room with a futon couch. The Hideaway is conveniently located just 4 blocks from the historic Roosevelt Arch and the original North Entrance to Yellowstone National Park. The grocery store, restaurants, coffee/ice cream and gift shops are all less than a mile away.

The Hideaway has pine accents and rustic/outdoor decor. It has a fully equipped kitchen, including a full size refrigerator, oven/stove, microwave, dishwasher, toaster, blender, pots, pans, plates, bowls, glasses and utensils. All linens are provided for the bedroom and bathroom as are WiFi and DIRECTV.

The Hideaway Apartment is located beside our smaller Bear Den Efficiency Apartment (VRBO #724939) and has incredible views of Electric Peak. Both apartments are located below our home, but are completely isolated with separate entrances.

If you've been surfing Gardiner, Mt on VRBO, you have got to be asking yourself: What is with all these cloned cabins? Let me explain. My cabin and the others were part of the former Yellowstone River Resort. The resort was initially built in 2000 to provide lodging and meals for the Elderhostel programs in and around Yellowstone National Park. In 2005, the owners offered the cabins for sale to individuals. The majority were purchased as rentals or second homes. The exteriors and floor plans are the same. For the most part, it is only the decor that varies and perhaps a few gizmos.

My cabin (#11) is the only one locally owned and operated. As such, I am able to offer significant savings over my neighbors (as much as $10-$40/night) depending on the time of year. The cabin is set off a bit from the other original cabins and is oriented for the mountains views. You can Google Earth the place at 45 degrees 04' 16.65" N 110 degrees 46' 24.31" W (no airstrikes, please). I maintain the cabin personnally and make myself available to answer questions and provide information to help you make the most of your stay. In return, you supplement my livelihood. I trust that this will always be a fair trade.

Regardless of whether you stay at my place, my neighbors' or elsewhere in the Gardiner area, you are well positioned to explore Yellowstone. As a tourist, fly fisherman or an attendee of the educational programs offered by the Yellowstone Association, the North Entrance provides the best gateway to the Grand Loop and Yellowstone's most sought after features.

The bedrooms and bathrooms are appointed like a hotel, with luggage racks and wall lamps etc, but with the added homey touches (lodgepole bedframes, lovely quilts), it didn't feel like a hotel. The rest of the cabin was just like home. It's roomy enough that 5 days with 5 people residing there didn't feel cramped, especially with two large gliders, a single glider, and "picnic" table on the patio. You do not need to bring anything except your clothes, beach towels if visiting any of the swimming/bathing spots in the area, your food, and yourselves. The kitchen is fully equipped, even with a spice rack and condiments in the fridge. Washer/dryer works well. Three queen beds and a double - our family of 5 slept comfortably. It is quiet and peaceful, with a bunny that visits the corral across from the cabin morning and evening, elk and antelope in areas around the cabins. The quickest route to Gardiner is the dirt road from the cabins (about 8 miles to the Roosevelt Arch); it's kept fairly well but is still a dirt road, thus a few potholes and washboard sections (OK for trucks, SUVs, and miniSUVs but maybe not so great for sedans). Wade is a respectful, nonintrusive host, and you can tell he loves his cabin. It is clean, clean, clean, and comfortable. Worth every penny. I will stay here again in the future and have recommended it to anyone who will listen. 🙂"

Enjoy the relaxing and fun atmosphere of this one of a kind log house. It is tucked in the mountains at the “end of the road” in the old mining town of Jardine, Montana, which is 6 miles northeast of Gardiner – the north entrance to Yellowstone Park. This place offers a nice balance between seclusion and easy access to endless sightseeing, wildlife viewing, and outdoor recreation opportunities.

The North Fork of Bear Creek is only about 100 yards below. It is a beautiful mountain stream and the fishing is good! Nights are quiet and peaceful. And the night sky is brilliant – take time to gaze at the stars.

This house is rustic and has lots of character. It is clean and cozy, but the layout and decor aren’t too fussy or uptight. The original portion of the house was built in 1994 with logs skidded out of the forest with a team of Percheron horses and peeled by hand. It includes an open kitchen with appliances and dishes. There is a deck where you can kick back and take in the scenery. One bathroom has an antique clawfoot tub. There is a loft/bedroom with a homemade queen size log bed. There is a nice sounding old piano for the fun of it.

A versatile 'great' room, which includes a bar (with sink, fridge and TV) and a full bathroom was added on to the house in 2001, and it is ideal for entertaining and hanging out. There are antlers, tanned hides, antiques, etc. throughout the house – sort of a wildlife/western theme. There is a large yard with trees, a picnic table, and a firepit. The native wildflowers are beautiful and plentiful. And various species of birds and wildlife will share this property with you.

There are also two convertible sofa beds in addition to a bedroom and the loft. The unique floor plan of this home can easily and comfortably accommodate a group of 6. This property is kid friendly and your well behaved pets are welcome too!
