Along Fishtail Creek and in the abundant tree cover at the house, many species of birds find shelter and visit our bird feeders frequently. The owners have a love of all the feathered friends on the ranch and have observed Pinyon Jays, Clark's Nutcrackers, Downy and Hairy Woodpeckers, House Wrens, Gray-Crowned Rosy Finches and an occasional Black Rosy Finch, Common Redpolls, Sandhill Cranes, Bald Eagles, Red Tailed Hawks, Pine Siskins, White and Red Breasted Nuthatches, American Goldfinches, and so many more.

The Stillwater and Rosebud Rivers offer world class fly fishing and are only 15-20 minutes away. Woodbine Falls and the trail to Sioux Charlie Lake are a short scenic drive up the Stillwater Valley. The Stillwater River also offers opportunities for rafting and kayaking. We can help you arrange for a day of horse-back riding or an overnight trip into the mountains.

If you wish to take a trip into Yellowstone National Park, the drive from Fishtail to Red Lodge and over the Beartooth Highway into Yellowstone Park will be a highlight of your trip. The 90 mile drive will take you to the Northeast Entrance at Cooke City. You'll need to allow at least 3 hours travel time into Cooke City because of the numerous switch backs that take you up and over the mountains.

Welcome to River Ridge! Built in 2018, this is a unique and outstanding vacation rental located about 7 miles southwest of Fishtail, MT at the base of the Beartooth Mountains on the West Rosebud River. The rental unit is a private suite with its own access on the lower level of a large, beautiful, custom home. The house is located on a ridge just above the river with magnificent views on all sides. The property consists of 16 acres with a quarter mile of easily accessible, winding riverfront with several walking trails and fishing holes.

The private suite has two bedrooms, each with a queen bed, a living room, full bath, a large well-equipped kitchen, a laundry room, a beautiful covered patio with furniture, an outdoor grill and a propane fire pit.

This is a perfect place to kick back and relax without having to go anywhere. Simply enjoy the amazing mountain views, walk along the river, get your toes wet, explore the aspen and cottonwood groves, cross over to the small island, or try your luck at fishing.

Although the West Rosebud River is literally in your backyard, there are several other nearby rivers to explore including the Stillwater, the East Rosebud, and the Yellowstone for your hiking, fishing or floating pleasure.

The property is on the northeast edge of the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem. Yellowstone National Park is about 50 miles to the southwest as the crow flies, or about 100 miles by car to the northeast entrance across the Beartooth Highway (a National Scenic Byway - All American Road). Deer, elk, turkey, birds of prey and an occasional bear, moose, wolf or mountain lion may be seen in the local area.

Very nice down to earth folks and are very helpful. They also run a fly fishing shop and offer guided fishing trips if you want. Melissa was even kind enough to do a load of laundry for us. My brothers and I had an awesome hike up the Sioux Charlie trail. The cabin was comfortable and was very large. My brothers said the beds were very comfortable and I slept on top of the couch being too lazy to open the hide a bed. I was comfortable too. The kitchen was very well equipped and had everything we needed including oils and spices which was nice after having to go minimalist at some of our other stays. The only issue I have with leaving so a good review for this particular property, and believe me it is awesome, is that now you will all want to go here and it will be harder for me to get a booking. So don,t go here! Just kidding."

The 2 bedrooms are good sized and there is a loft upstairs that would be grest for kids. The washer and dryer were a great addition. This is a very clean cabin and Holly was great to work with, would return messages very quickly and answered all our questions. There are 2 nice decks and a grill so you can sit outside and enjoy listening to the river and looking at the mountains! We would differently go back. "
