Stylish modern studio situated on 7 gated acres, surrounded by rolling hills, featuring a stunning 60’ lap pool and outdoor lounging and dining area! The grounds are lush with mature oak trees, fruit trees and a pergola on the upper terrace with outdoor seating affording spectacular sunset views. The interior of this modern open studio features exclusive furnishings, a queen-size bed, 2 sofas, 55" TV, bistro table, two builtin workstations, kitchenette and full bath with walk-in glass shower.

The well-equipped kitchenette includes both a Nespresso machine and a K-Cup coffee and tea maker, milk frother, microwave, toaster oven, double and single hot plate, slow cooker, Instant Pot and full-size fridge.

Beautifully decorated interiors by two former corporate executives of Williams-Sonoma, Pottery Barn and West Elm, including custom fine art painted exclusively for the property. We fondly refer to the property as Great Oak because of the dozens of gorgeous oaks on the grounds. Rental guests often comment on how private the compound feels across its 7 acres with few homes in view and yet only minutes from both Sonoma and Glen Ellen. If you love hiking and biking, Cavedale Rd. is an 7 mile long artery crossing from Sonoma into Napa. Or, simply sit back and relax in a truly rural setting with spectacular views of the Valley of Moon, uniquely framed by both the Mayacamas and Sonoma Mountains...truly one of the best locations the wine country has to offer.

We live on the property. The guest studio was specifically designed to face away from the main house in order to afford guests the privacy you deserve. The guest studio is also attached to the garage so on occasion guests may hear the garage door opening/closing.

The lap pool is shared with the owners. When guests are present, we limit our use of the pool to our daily laps and try to do so when guests are out exploring all that Sonoma and Napa have to offer. The pool is not heated in the off-season.

We have 2 friendly Gordon Setter dogs (Tobi 5 years old and Nikki 4 years old) that roam the property and may come over to visit. If you are uncomfortable with dogs, or they are in any way bothering you, please call/text us and we will make sure to keep them with us. It is not a bother at all, so please don’t hesitate to let us know. Also, when entering or leaving the property, if you could take care and not let the dogs out. If you see them out and about when arriving at the gate or upon leaving, please call or text us so we can bring them in. Otherwise, they will make a run for it if the gate is opened.

We have been actively renting Great Oak as a vacation rental since 2017, with a 5-star rating. It was previously managed by Turnkey/Vacasa. Sadly, ratings and reviews cannot be carried over when switching to self-property management, but below are copied ratings and some sample reviews.

Gorgeous property and fantastic location for exploring Napa and Sonoma. That pool and those views - perfection!! The kitchen was very well-appointed, and we cooked in many nights and had everything we could possibly need for our stay. The owners and their dogs were lovely, and it was a pleasure meeting them. My wife and I stayed here for the weekend to celebrate our anniversary. Not only is the house beautifully decorated and maintained, but the property itself is absolutely syunning. It made for a relazing and calming weekend. John and Oliver, the owners, are awesome. They were so welcoming and kind and we felt like we were visiting old friends. The photos do not do it justice. Highly recommend for a romantic getaway.

If you want to experience a completely beautiful and peaceful environment with the best energy, then definitely consider this place. I am hesitant to rate them so highly because I will definitely return and don’t want it hard to book. If you don’t enjoy this place, you should stop traveling!

Our second visit was just as enjoyable as we remember our first in 2022. Tobi & Nikki (the two Gordon Setters) made for great playmates for our dog again and the pool ambience was exactly the rest & relaxation we were in need of. The perfect dog friendly get away.

One of the best [vacation rental] stays we ever had! A real gem! The paintings were interesting and done by the owner himself. Pool was beautiful aesthetically and the water temperature just right. The property itself is very well maintained. Lounge was a great place to just chill and take in the view. The two dogs on site were very friendly and our kid loved them. Owners were very gracious. If you’re looking for a luxury retreat in a more private locale, this is it! Would come back in a heartbeat

The whole estate is expensive and gorgeous with mid century architecture, the interior is artsy and sophisticated and after the long day we enjoyed the sunset views and large heated pool. We also appreciated the sustainable thinking through out the property.

The kitchen is big and spacious, it has a kitchen table and chairs for dining, and all of the necessary appliances for a great stay. Also, there is an electric car charging station across the street in the Garden Court Cafe parking lot, please don`t charge your electric vehicle at the house. They also have delicious clam chowder and seafood at Spud Point Crab Company in Bodega Bay.

The driveway circles around a tall fountain, and the main house, the guest house and the garage all border on the drive. The buildings design was inspired by Andrea Palladio, a Renaissance master, and one of the most influential architects in the Western world. Welcome to our Harvest Hideaway! We’re centrally located in the heart of Sonoma Valley, right in downtown Glen Ellen.

Walking distance to fantastic restaurants, tasting rooms, and the great Glen Ellen Village Market. We’re a 10 minute drive to Kenwood, 15 minutes to Sonoma Square, and 30 to Napa. Drive west and you're in Bodega Bay within an hour; south, and you're on the Golden Gate Bridge. You can't beat the location!

Built in the 1930’s and completely remodeled in 2017, our house has the charm and character of an older home, with all modern amenities and new hardwood floors.

You will enjoy your own private room with a queen bed (down comforter), walk-in closet, and an ensuite bathroom, containing a double sink & spacious walk-in shower. Wifi, television (with Netflix, Hulu, etc), a fan/heater, and a small refrigerator are available for your convenience. You also have your own independent heating/AC to keep the room comfortable during your stay.

This room does not have access to the kitchen or the rest of the home, but you do have access to our lovely screen porch where you can enjoy breakfast and watch the hummingbirds visit our feeders. And you are welcome enjoy the numerous sitting areas in our backyard or sit by our chickens and let them entertain you for hours.

After multiple inquires, we must add that this is the only space we rent. It is private (in one corner of the house), while our master bedroom is upstairs on the other side of the house. The two of us will never been in your space while you are staying with us, and you can come and go freely without any disturbances.

Bungalow One Details

Bungalow Two Details
Separated by concrete walkways and tall dry grasses shaded by oak and manzanita, Bungalow Two is another study in modern, rustic design with wide plank wood floors, white walls and sleek modern furniture. Top-sliding barn doors and pitched ceilings add to the spacious feel in the living/kitchen area. A butcher-block center island offers casual dining for 4. There is a Bosch gas stove top, retro-style refrigerator and top-grade stainless steel dishwasher, and the kitchen is fully stocked for cooking! (Note: There is no oven in Bungalow Two.)

The primary bedroom has a queen bed and private door to the spacious bathroom. A floating dual vanity and the large walk-in shower add to the clean, spa-like ambiance of the bath.

- "Stay was comfortable, there was enough towels and food was left in fridge which was perfect as we forgot the condiments , had a small Mexican store and gas station near by. Kids loved the pool said it was super cold . We would loved to see a little more lights near the pool and outside of front door as it didn’t have much light over all we enjoyed it and kids had a na making time . A handwritten welcome card (always a nice touch!!!) all the amenities you want (coffee, tea, microwave, fridge, ceiling fan for warm nights, and tv!). Hidden away on the banks of Lake Idelle, this secluded retreat provided the perfect escape for me, my partner, and our beloved dog. The highlight of each day was taking our dog for a morning stroll around the lake to enjoy the calm and quiet at dawn.The cabin itself was beautifully furnished, offering us a casual and inviting space to unwind and a very comfortable Queen-sized bed. While we had the option to cook in the well-equipped kitchen, we spent most of our time exploring the vibrant culinary scene of Sonoma and Napa's stunning Wine Country. From charming restaurants to delightful vineyards and captivating museums, the area had so much to offer.One of our favorite experiences was visiting the Tuesday evening Farmer's Market on Sonoma Plaza, where we savored fresh, local produce. On the hottest July days, the shaded public park in Kenwood provided another refreshing oasis besides the lakeside docks. The cabin's efficient air conditioning system was a blessing, allowing us to quickly cool down when we preferred to stay indoors.Our host, Don, was an exceptional guide, offering valuable insights into the local area. His thoughtful provision of a comprehensive guide to nearby restaurants, shops, tasting rooms, and information about our friendly neighbors, as well as a bottle of local wine, made our stay even more enjoyable.This special location of the cabin, among the oak trees at the end of the road overlooking Lake Idelle, exuded a sense of grace and tranquility that instantly captivated us. We wholeheartedly recommend this cabin as the ultimate retreat for any season. It served as the perfect escape from the Palm Springs heat where we have our primary home, and our experience surpassed all expectations. Needless to say, we are already looking forward to returning again."

- "We had two couples head to Napa for a short trip. Such a cute cottage and perfect for Sonoma excursions. Napa requires going over or around the mountains but it’s not bad. Hot tub was great. Cottage was well appointed. Coffee pot is on the small side for 3 coffee drinkers. No complaints. Helpful binder of info. Bedrooms were spacious. Primary bath could be updated but certainly enough room. "

The cottage is on the same 1/2 acre property as the main house and has a separate, gravel pathway entrance. The cottage is 525 sq ft. The large deck (an additional 300 sq ft) offers expansive views of trees, the creek below and starry night skies. You may also catch a glimpse of deer, fox, wild hare and other critters that wander near the creek. If you enjoy marveling at nature, this setting is for you.
