The Lake House is comfortable and situated very close to the lake. This is both a good thing and a bad thing. Good because it's close to walk and get a better view down the lake or up towards the mountains where sections of LoTR was filmed. Bad because there are sand flies which will happily feast upon your bare skin. Make sure you wear good insect repellent at all times. We stayed in the King suite and it was a quite sizable room with a massive en-suite which included a separate bath. There is a small deck out the front where you could sit and have a coffee or a wine. WiFi was easy to access and suitably fast. The host was amazing and greeted me by name before I managed to tell her any more than the fact I was checking in. I felt that there was nothing that she would not have done to make our stay more comfortable if this was required."

Very Old and Rustic.
If you are inspired by old, rustic things and being cosy this cottage is the one. The cottage is well over 100 yrs old but has had some TLC to keep it alive, it is fully fenced with plenty of room for all to zoom around.
As with any old place there are quirks and oddities but lying in the big old bath looking outside is a must. The toilet is an oldie but a goody. It is outside about 15 meters away from the Cottage. For the timid, it doesn't have a flush button!!
The cottage is fully self contained so all you need is your food, there is a wee general store, however the main grocery shops are 45kms away back in Queenstown!!
Everything in the Glenorchy township is within walking distance, it is just a small place, quiet and surrounded by mountains but offers a lot of activities for all ages. We have most things here, Pubs, cafes,playgrounds, horses,tramping,jet boats, "huntin' and fishin", swimming pool or for the slightly mad "the lake", tennis courts and a nine hole golf course which just so happens to be right across the road as is the lovely "Boardwalk".

Please note# We are a 45 minute - 1 hour drive from Queenstown at the head of the lake.

This large 3 bedroom Log House has been specifically appointed for your comfort - comfortable U Shape Couch, 3 Comfortable Super King Beds, 1 King Bed, 2 Bath Tubs, and fully equipped kitchen. The yard is fully fenced which is great for families and for privacy as there is now a home on one of the sections next to us. There is underfloor heating throughout so is a warm home to visit in the winter months. The home is walking distance to the lake, restaurants, pubs, cafes, and shops. There are only a few of each as Glenorchy is a small town.

We also supply basics such as tea, coffee, soap, a few rolls of toilet paper, cooking oil, salt and pepper, spices, etc...

One of the world’s great drives takes you 45 minutes from Queenstown along the lake shore, to this picturesque township.

Glenorchy is a base for great adventures, or simply a destination to breathe in unforgettable scenery, and pure mountain air.

The township is small, quiet and charming. It boasts some great cafés, an iconic pub with a good restaurant, a general store, and an information centre.

This wee gem is an experience to say the least.
You have to be capable of some "back to basics" living. By this you have to boil water to do the dishes and there is no washing machine but there is a Laundromat in town if you don't wish to do your washing by hand but be rest assured you will be cosy.
If you suffer from vertigo this is not the nest for you to stay in as everything is on wheels which creates movement.
"Wee Widja" is a mix of solar, power and no power so I suggest you bring a torch for when you hop from A to B but never fear for I am near should you need help in any way.

Glenorchy township is a brisk 5 minute walk so you are close to all it has to offer.
Please ask questions before you book and note that we are about 50kms away from Queenstown at the head of the lake.

The large grounds of the property are surrounded by shrubs & mature foliage so it’s private and feels secluded. Your area also has a picnic table, bbq & fenced area. Feel free to roam the grounds, pick our pesticide free raspberries & strawberries (seasonal). Also, you may see Axl roaming the grounds-he’s our harmless wee kitty who loves cuddles & kisses. If you’re allergic & don’t want him around please let us know (so we’ll keep him inside). 😊
