- "The food really was the best in New Zealand. Fantastic." - "Eco-friendly with solar on each roof and compostable toilets. Chef on site was great. Breakfast and dinner were excellent and included. " - "Beautiful property. First class accommodations and service! " - "Brilliant stay in a one-of-a-kind property. It is by far the "greenest" accommodation you'll ever encounter, and the touches of creative artistry, luxury, and fantastic kitchen will push it over the top. Built of largely reclaimed materials and powered by the sun, The Headwaters is a place to remember. From the abundant breakfast to morning yoga to the local art that abounds everywhere, you'll never want for comfort and entertainment. Don't expect bellhops, TV, and room service. DO expect cheery help, a free laundromat, and a relaxing environment in a tiny but scenic town. It's pricey, but bucket-list-worthy."

A quaint, cosy batch located in the middle of Glenorchy! A 2min walk to lake front & even less to the cafes and pub!
The large grounds of the property are surrounded by shrubs & mature foliage so it’s private and feels secluded. Your area also has a picnic table, bbq & fenced area. Feel free to roam the grounds, pick our pesticide free raspberries & strawberries (seasonal). Also, you may see Axl roaming the grounds-he’s our harmless wee kitty who loves cuddles & kisses. If you’re allergic & don’t want him around please let us know (so we’ll keep him inside). 😊
Please note; Bookabatch doesn't allow us to do same day bookings, however, if our calendar is not booked out, do contact us as we're happy for late same day check ins.
- "Great stay ,glass recycling bin didn't have enough room for us" - "Very hospitable hosts and a darling little French bulldog who loves the pats. Great views of the mountains from the garden. Kitchen has everything you need. Would reccomend booking this place if you are looking in Glenorchy." - "The accommodation is at the back of the owner’s property, off the garage. It was small but private and so very comfortable - with everything you could possibly need and many other thoughtful touches. The bed was the most comfortable of all the accommodations we’d stayed at in the South Island prior. The hosts were readily available and great to deal with. We would happily stay again and probably will, as our trip was cut short and we haven’t finished with Glenorchy yet!"

Only addition I would suggest adding is a couple of breakfast bowls. But wasnt a biggie, we made our porridge in the cups provided. 😋 " - "Sunny and private. A few minutes walk from the cafe, restaurant, general store, and shuttle pickups. Fabulously comfortable bed!!" - "Great comfy bed. Big TV with Netflix."

The Airbnb service fee is Airbnb’s cut.
Taxes are new. From April 1st 2024 the New Zealand government has now mandated that Airbnb collect 15% GST for every booking, regardless if we are GST registered or not.
Our standard rate is inclusive for two people. For 3 or more guests, there is a $25 per person charge. This allows us to make the nightly rates more affordable for smaller groups. The additional charge is to cover the additional overheads like power and water.

The space
Tucked away on a private property, the cabin overlooks a serene lake shaped like a stingray. In Māori culture, the stingray (whai) is a powerful symbol of protection, resilience, and spiritual connection, often regarded as a kaitiaki—a guardian of place and people.
This is a special sanctuary for those seeking to disconnect from the outside world and reconnect with themselves and nature.
The cabin features a spacious one-bedroom layout with a king bed, plus a cozy mezzanine level that can accommodate an additional adult or two children—ideal for couples, solo travellers, or small families looking for a restorative escape.
Other things to note
🪵 If you plan to use the wood-fired hot tub, please bring enough firewood with you, as we can’t guarantee year-round availability due to supply fluctuations. As a guide:
2 bags are usually enough in summer
3 bags are recommended for winter
Firewood can be purchased in Queenstown from Mitre 10, most supermarkets, or petrol stations on your way through.
Please do not use coal, and once the ashes have fully cooled, dispose of them in the designated metal bin—never on the grass, as this poses a serious fire risk.
If you're using the open firepit, please be sure to fully extinguish it with water after use, especially during dry periods.
🛜 To help our guests truly unwind, we’ve chosen not to provide Wi-Fi. There is occasional mobile reception on-site, and reliable 4G/5G coverage is available just 7 minutes away in Glenorchy township.
🥚 Fresh organic eggs are available from our neighbours for ten dollars per dozen.
