This adorable and very warm winter cabin, with stunning views and spa, is part of our 25-acre property, located behind The Lookout Lodge, at the manager's residence. This rustic, cute cabin has a queen bed, and a separate private bathroom with an outside hot shower house just next to the cabin. There is also a private spa where you can enjoy amazing star gazing as you soak! You’ll love this cabin because of its unique location, awesome shower, stunning scenery, and taste of kiwi farm life.

The space
This unique accommodation offers travelers a local rural experience without being too far from town. Enjoy our fabulous fruit trees in summer (cherries, peaches, plums, pears, and apples). It is also surrounded by acres of farmland with sheep and deer. The starry nights are often spectacular and can be viewed from the cabin's private two-person hot tub. The outdoor hot shower(great pressure) is really unique and you will love the experience of showering outdoors with stunning views and sheep and deer, even in winter. Robes are available for the hot tub to keep you warm in between showering and the cabin. There is a small fridge available for guests, microwave, bowls and cutlery, cutting board, as well as a hot water jug for tea or coffee and of course wine glasses. Wifi is on at the cabin along with a nice heater! The small friendly dog lives in the main house and never goes into the cabin. The cabin is located behind the manager's house (so we can supply electricity and water) on an elevated slope to capture the best views. You can see the back of the manager's house from the cabin, but the views from the hot tub are quite private. The managers for the lodge will try and greet you upon arrival if they are home. However, the cabin is usually open upon arrival so please feel free to settle in right away.

We are 7K from Albertown where you can get a fabulous coffee and pastry as well as any other supply you might need at the small shop! Downtown Wanaka is 12K.

Other things to note
The cabin is located behind the manager's house for the Lookout Lodge. On weekends in the in summer the lodge does host weddings so sometimes you will hear some music. To find us, enter 285 Maungawera Valley Road, Wanaka or The Lookout Lodge in your GPS as we share the same driveway (Please note, the signal goes out at the bottom of our driveway so try and study the map in advance.) Follow signs to Lookout Lodge and you will a sign on the gate for Cosy Cabin. Turn up Lookout Lodge driveway and follow to the very top of the hill and follow signs for Cosy Cabin. Drive past the Lookout Lodge car park and follow driveway around past the row of pine trees until you see the managers house and the cabin on the hill behind it. You can park next to steps that lead to the cabin. Please do not drive down to the lodge, as the cabin is not part of Lookout Lodge.

We don't have cooking facilities but we have plates and cutlery for a picnic! There is also a microwave available upon request. We do have a small table and a refrigerator for guests as well. It is easy to grab some food in town on your way through and enjoy a picnic here. I can recommend The Big Fig and Fed Deli for lovely salads and food to go.

Newly built and located at the end of a quiet cul de sac, Margot’s Hut is a cozy one bedroom, 42m2, detached, self-contained unit with stunning views of Mt. Iron. Access to Mt. Iron and Little Mt. Iron tracks and climbing walls are just a stone’s throw away. Margot’s Hut is the perfect hub for your Wanaka stay - just five minutes drive to Lake Wanaka and a convenient base for your adventure.

The space
Margot’s Hut is located towards the front of our family’s property, with designated off-street parking. Our Family home is located at the rear of the 1,500m2 section and is very much private from Margot’s Hut. We named the accommodation after our dog, Margot (brindle pictured). We also have a toddler who you may encounter, however we have a separate side and backyard where he and Margot play by the main house. We always try our best to keep Margot contained, but please let me know if you’d prefer she doesn’t visit you and I’ll have a word with her prior to your arrival.

Guest access
Guests are welcome to use the car park area directly in front of Margot’s hut, and the outdoor area surrounding the deck. We also invite you to use the hut’s mountain bikes anytime throughout your stay.
