The location couldn’t be beat - we walked everywhere with the gorgeous lake in front, the gardens to the left, surrounded by shops and restaurants. The free valet parking was easy to use, but we really didn’t need a car. The hotel itself is historic but comfortably luxurious with high ceilings and oozing character. We enjoyed the lovely parlor, which is a living room open to the small cadre of guests staying at any particular time (there are only 5 rooms in the main building). We met some other families during the evening drinks and canapés, which were Included in our stay, and I used the space for some work video conferences during the morning hours, when I did not want to disturb my family sleeping in our room. Overall, Eichardt’s was warm and comfortable. Service was outstanding and we didn’t want to leave. The main picture on the hotels.com Website shows a hot tub, which is belongs to the penthouse room and isn’t open to anyone else. A bit misleading since you don’t need your swimsuit, but everything else here was phenomenal. We will be back!"

All other hotels are more convenient for doing activities as you are closer to town, though this is an amazing hotel to just take a break, or for holiday home if you have a big family. The staff here are honestly so helpful and treat you like family, they all take care of you to your personalised likings. This is also the cleanest hotel i’ve ever stayed in, along with breathtaking views right near the lake. Food is amazing too, along with helpful amenities such as the gym and sauna. There is also quite a lot to do here , you can go to the jetty where you see breathtaking views along with a hike around this area, you can go to the library, go to the gym, and much more. I would also like to say that the massages at this place are honestly amazing and definitely recommend getting it if you are staying at Matakauri. Otherwise, this is an amazing hotel, it is a bit pricey but compared to all other hotels in queenstown this is the best one and there is no doubt about that.
