The location couldn’t be beat - we walked everywhere with the gorgeous lake in front, the gardens to the left, surrounded by shops and restaurants. The free valet parking was easy to use, but we really didn’t need a car. The hotel itself is historic but comfortably luxurious with high ceilings and oozing character. We enjoyed the lovely parlor, which is a living room open to the small cadre of guests staying at any particular time (there are only 5 rooms in the main building). We met some other families during the evening drinks and canapés, which were Included in our stay, and I used the space for some work video conferences during the morning hours, when I did not want to disturb my family sleeping in our room. Overall, Eichardt’s was warm and comfortable. Service was outstanding and we didn’t want to leave. The main picture on the hotels.com Website shows a hot tub, which is belongs to the penthouse room and isn’t open to anyone else. A bit misleading since you don’t need your swimsuit, but everything else here was phenomenal. We will be back!"

The staff here are honestly so helpful and treat you like family, they all take care of you to your personalised likings. This is also the cleanest hotel i’ve ever stayed in, along with breathtaking views right near the lake. Food is amazing too, along with helpful amenities such as the gym and sauna. There is also quite a lot to do here , you can go to the jetty where you see breathtaking views along with a hike around this area, you can go to the library, go to the gym, and much more. I would also like to say that the massages at this place are honestly amazing and definitely recommend getting it if you are staying at Matakauri. Otherwise, this is an amazing hotel, it is a bit pricey but compared to all other hotels in queenstown this is the best one and there is no doubt about that. There is a nice cosy lounge which gives it a homely feel. Rooms are well appointed if a little small, but hanging out in the lounge ameliorated this , and at happy hour we got to meet new people."

Poplar Lodge is a fantastic space for family groups as well as sporting groups and friends. Located in the heart of historic Arrowtown, the lodge is just a minutes walk from the centre of town. Garden with BBQ, central heating to keep you warm in winter, off street parking for up to 5 cars. Hike or bike from the front door, into the hills or along the Queenstown Trail (over 100kms of trails - choose a different route each day!)

The lodge is ideal for family groups, reunions, weddings and sporting groups (especially cyclists as we are located right by the Queenstown Trail - bike hire available with Arrowtown Bike Hire which is located just outside the back gate). Also great for 2 or 3 families to save money by renting one property.

Kitchen with a range of appliances is set up to cater for groups of all sizes. Full size fridge plus full size fridge freezer, 2 microwaves, 2 sinks, dishwasher and oven. Plenty of plate, cutlery, pots etc to suit larger groups.

Keep warm in winter with central heating - come home to a warm cosy house at the end of a day of activities. Winter weight duvets, blankets and electric blankets.

The area is fantastic for a family holiday with activities for children of all ages - we are happy to make suggestions. Day trips to Queenstown, Wanaka or Glenorchy are recommended.

Mill Creek Cottage is located on the same property and shares a driveway with our family home but offers a high level of privacy with a private carpark, deck and lawn area. The cottage features two bedrooms: one with a queen bed, and the other with a single, a king single, and an optional trundler bed which will incur an extra charge. Please be aware that the cottage does not have air conditioning so it can get hot in the late afternoon. There is a ceiling fan and we have provided a tower fan to assist with this.

The open-plan living area includes a fully-equipped kitchen with views of The Remarkables, a spacious dining table, and a lounge area as well as a laundry cupboard with washing machine. A loft, accessible via a ladder in the main living area, serves as a workspace and relaxation spot with amenities such as yoga mats and a book exchange. Please note that the loft ladder requires close supervision of children at all times. Portacot available on request.

Entertainment is provided with a TV equipped with Netflix, Disney Channel, and YouTube. While our two young children explore the property, they won't access your space directly. Expect a warm greeting from our friendly Golden Retriever and you may at times find our cat basking in the cottage sun. Please keep in mind that this accommodation may not be suitable for those who aren't fond of animals.

Mill Creek Cottage is just 500m from the Queenstown Cycle trail which links directly to Lake Hayes and Arrowtown (via Millbrook Resort). It is a 5 minute drive to Arrowtown, 15 minutes to Frankton and 25 minutes to central Queenstown. The closest bus stop is 2km away so having your own transport is preferable.

The cottage has it's own private deck and lawn area as well as a dedicated carparking spot. We politely ask that you stay within these areas, as well as the driveway for access in and out during your stay.
Other things to note

Kindly note that our main home has recently been finished, and landscaping is ongoing around the driveway, back of the cottage, and our home. Although the outdoor area of the cottage is completed, there are incomplete sections visible upon entering the property. We appreciate your understanding as we work towards completing the landscaping to enhance the overall appeal of the surroundings.

Just a short walk to central Queenstown. We have all the basics for a short stay in the area so you can enjoy all the walks, biking and skiing that we have on the doorstep. This is a new, modest size (17sqm) cabin that has all the basics and no frills.

The Space:
The home is just a short stroll on the flat from down town Queenstown. Even closer is the local supermarket. The majority of attractions start points, bars and restaurants are less than a 15 minute walk from your accomodation.

Busses are frequent and there is a bus stop just metres away. There are also good uber and taxi options as well.

Town is also home to a good number of bike and ebike rental options so you can enjoy days riding some of the best bike tracks the area has to to offer.

Close by are also some of the best hiking trails around. Everything from short walks to epic multi day adventures are catered for here.

Although we endeavour to ensure hot tub is at temperature and operational this may not always be available due to servicing requirements as we have two other listings on site.

We are set in a residential area and have neighbours. Parties and events are not be be held at this property. We request quiet times after 10pm.

🪵 If you plan to use the wood-fired hot tub, please bring enough firewood with you, as we can’t guarantee year-round availability due to supply fluctuations. As a guide:

2 bags are usually enough in summer
3 bags are recommended for winter

Firewood can be purchased in Queenstown from Mitre 10, most supermarkets, or petrol stations on your way through.
Please do not use coal, and once the ashes have fully cooled, dispose of them in the designated metal bin—never on the grass, as this poses a serious fire risk.

If you're using the open firepit, please be sure to fully extinguish it with water after use, especially during dry periods.
