- "Great place to stay for quiet evenings! " - "Cross creek still has the flavor of Old Florida. My wife and I went there for our 25th anniversary and were not disappointed. We visited Payne's Prairie State Park and were able to observe the wild Cracker ponies through binoculars from the observation tower. The property has a boat ramp into Cross Creek which I believe connects to Orange Lake and Lake Lochloosa. I would bring a boat if I were staying longer. We brought our two Labrador retrievers that travel with us everywhere. We would have liked to try the Yearling Restaurant but it was closed for sub kitchen floor plumbing repairs. The owner of the property was very friendly and even with the stress of repairs in progress, he gave us a tour of the restaurant and shared it's history. We intended to visit the home of Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings who wrote the book "The Yearling" but only got to drive by due to time constraints. We also drove through historic Micanopy and both the commercial and housing districts had a charming appeal and several antique shops. We will likely revisit and try to take advantage of everything the area has to offer. We will stay in the "Yearling Cabins". "

And took out the boats everyday to paddle around this quiet lake. The pinball machines and video games went over well, especially with our 7 year old. Cowpen Lake is a spring fed, clear lake great for boating and fishing. Bass, bream, gar, crappie and catfish can all be caught from the dock. Our property also has a 4 acre small fishing pond that is perfect for kids. Boats can be launched from shore with ease. Pet friendly. The property is completely fenced in. There is a 2018 Harris Pontoon Boat available to be rented during your stay. Ready and in the water with a full tank of gas to enjoy the lake!!

Walk from the deck of the house on a wooden walkway down to our beautiful large dock. The dock has a large screened-in room with a comfortable love seat, two lounge chairs, a coffee table, an end table, and a ceiling fan with light. This is the perfect spot to relax, read, enjoy the lakefront, or even bring the laptop down for work outside. There is also a large sundeck with two Adirondack chairs and a chaise lounge for sitting outside to enjoy the sunrise and sunset. We also have an outdoor shower on the dock to shower off after your swim.

The house is on a private, spring-fed lake recognized for excellent fishing, swimming, relaxing, floating on a raft, boating, and skiing. Be sure to try out some fishing, as our lake is great for catching bass, bluegill, and sunfish. Fishing poles and tackle are provided. Enjoy the 2-person kayak or single kayak around the large lake.

The spotless waterfront home has two good-sized bedrooms, one renovated bathroom, and a large open-concept living area comprising the brand new kitchen, dining area, and living room with panoramic lakefront views. Our home is located on lovely springfed Cowpen lake. The home is beautifully furnished and has two bedrooms and two full baths. The home has an open layout in the main living area, which includes the kitchen and living room. This gives a very roomy and spacious feel to the home. Both the master bedroom and the living room have very large picture windows bringing the lakeside view right into the home, you can wake up to a serene view, or enjoy the lake right from the living room couch. Our home has a huge screened in porch on the lake side of the house. There is a table and six chairs on the porch, so dining in the great outdoors can be a daily experience.

You will have access to the RV and 2+ acre property including lakefront portion that has kayaks and canoe.

OTHER THINGS TO NOTE:

1. Old mobile home – there is a VACANT old rickety mobile home located on the property behind the RV. It will not interfere with your stay but do not enter this mobile home.

2. ***IMPORTANT*** Water heater – turn-on water heater 15 min before showering and turn off immediately after for safety and to ensure the gas does not run out.

3. ***IMPORTANT*** Do not use water pump or slide-outs.

4. ***IMPORTANT*** Toilets – This RV is hooked up to plumbing and electricity, creating an easy and fun camping experience. However, don't put hygiene products in toilets as could clog RV toilet. Please understand when booking an RV, toilets require MINOR maintenance every 1-2 days. As such, drain the four sewage / wastewater (black, gray, galley) tanks every 1-2 days by pulling the 4 levers to release the sewage/ wastewater (do sewage/black before gray/galley tanks). Not to worry, you won't be getting your hands dirty. These levers are right under the RV, with 1 on one side and the other three on the other side. This is just routine RV maintenance to ensure no problems occur during your stay! It's easy and good to learn if you've never done it! Note: If shower / sink starts to fill up, it means gray tank is full and needs to be emptied.

4. Oven - To operate oven, push in & rotate oven knob to light position & hold while lighting burner w/ lighter. Continue to push & hold for 5 seconds after pilot is lit. 5. Lake – do not swim in the lake as there may be alligators. It is Florida. ***IMPORTANT*** Lake Fanny / Vause: To get to big/deep part of Lake Fanny/Vause, once you are on the water in your kayak/canoe/boat, go to the left about 100 yards until you see a saw grass "land bridge." In about the middle of this saw grass land bridge, there is a 3ft wide gap in the saw grass that allows you to enter. Look for white PVC pipe marking this entry point to Lake Fanny / Vause. See last picture of photos for map of entry point.

6. Kayaking, canoeing – adults only for unsupervised kayaking or access to or near the lake. Always wear life jackets on the water. As a courtesy, we have provided some life jackets, fishing gear, and supplies located in the outside compartment on the right side of the RV.

7. Boating – do not use the motor boat that is on back of property.

8. ***IMPORTANT*** Mosquitos / Ticks - There may be mosquitos and ticks, particularly during the warmer months. Spray is usually provided in the RV outside compartment, right of main door. Spray accordingly and wear appropriate attire (long sleeve pants). Check your body for ticks nightly.

9. ***IMPORTANT*** Fires and fire pit – firewood may occasionally be provided behind RV. Keep fires in the fire pit, small, and away from RV and vehicles. Keep water and fire extinguisher ready. Do not leave fire going over night. Always put out the fire before you leave the fire pit, go to bed, and depart the property. Lighters, bug spray, and chairs are in outside compartment, right of main door.
