This cottage is the perfect getaway from the hustle and bustle of city life. It's located on a small all sports lake (Bass Lake), conveniently located in the middle of the state. It's close to Alma College, Central Michigan University, and Soaring Eagle Casino in Mt. Pleasant. It's a 1/2 mile to the Fred Meijer Heartland trail which is a beautiful paved trail for biking, walking, running, or roller blading. The cottage is about a mile from the best ice cream shop and a great pizza place too.
There are 3 different outdoor seating areas; you can enjoy an afternoon meal on the picnic table and a night time bonfire. You can relax on the beach, use the 3 paddle boards and 1 kayak to go around the lake, bring your boat to park dockside, or swim and jump off the raft. There are 4 bedrooms which can easily accommodate 10 people and one full bathroom. There is also a washer and dryer, a fully stocked kitchen, a gas grill, plenty of board games, puzzles and books. You will find everything you need right here. If you're looking for a nice cottage, tucked away from big city life, you have found it. The Cottage... where memories are made!

Inside of the house, guests will have access to air conditioning, Wifi, TV, a DVD player. Outside, guests will have access to 3 paddle boards, 1 kayak, a dock to fish off of, a raft anchored in the water beyond the dock, a picnic table, sand toys, and a fire pit.

- "We had a great time at this well-built cabin. The kitchen was wonderful and quite clean with plenty of dishes and pans. We enjoyed the comfortable living area and the privacy of the bedrooms--each bedroom is separated from the other with the thick walls, closets etc. The bathroom could use some updates in the shower/tub area-like get rid of the rusty soap and shampoo holder. We did appreciate how well supplied with towels, tissues, etc. The outdoor area is wonderful with the 2 decks-one in sun, the other shade. We appreciated the water, paddle boards and sandy beach and that there is quite a few feet of sandy bottom on the lake before the weeds. The upper deck and railings to the lower deck could use updating. It would have been nice to have a DVD player, also. There are DVD's but no player. Over all, this is a beautifully built cabin with everything you need plus more!"

This lakefront home, built in 1937, has all the quant character of its time, yet has been newly renovated to give you all the modern day amenities to make you feel at rest and ease during your stay! This home sits on the west shore of Crystal Lake and provides plenty of room for you and your family and gorgeous views of the lake. The open floor plan provides room for everyone with multiple sitting areas. While the inside charm is comfortable and pleasing, the outside deck and sitting area is where you will find the breeze of the lake and the sound of the water for a truly relaxing time. So whether you are having a bonfire in the pit or taking one of the kayaks out on the water we know you will fall in love with this place like we did! A golf cart is available at an additional cost for sunset cruises and a quick run to the ice cream shop. There is parking for 4 cars.

About Crystal Lake

Crystal Lake is a spring-fed, sandy-bottom lake known for its exceptional clarity and recreational variety. It’s 70 feet deep at its center but shallow along the shoreline—perfect for swimming, boating, and fishing. The DNR public boat launch is conveniently located just east of the property.

Enjoy sailing, paddleboarding, fishing, or simply floating the day away from late March through late November on one of Michigan’s most beautiful inland lakes.

Just a short walk from the water (2 min, not lakefront). Crystal lake is 5.3 miles. The beach is 1/2 mile away or 11 min walk. Crystal raceway is 1 mile away. Large lot with a fire pit and patio. If you have a ranger or golf cart with orv stickers they are legal within the city limits. One bedroom with a full bed and twin over it. Sleeper sofa and sleeper chair in the living to sleep 3 more people.
There's a tv with DVD player and DVDs. There's also a fire stick and Roku TV. Slow paced water life. If you have a boat there's a sand bar and other areas that boats like to park and get out in the water. Most people in the village drive golf carts and orv's within the limits. There's a grocery store, restaurant, bar, movie theater, ice cream.... There's a place deeded to the house where you can anchor a boat for the day, but no dock or land ( you can only anchor the boat and walk back to the cottage). I have a camper on a second lot, so if I happen to be around when you visit, I'll gladly take you on a golf cart ride around the lake!
Please note that there's a water softener for HARD WATER, but some people don't like the sulfate (egg) smell. Also, it's a cottage near water, so there will be spiders/bugs.

Enjoy a stay at a newly renovated lakeside cottage. You'll feel like you are visiting your grandparents lake house. The cottage is situated on the north shore of 100 acre all sports Bass Lake in Vestaburg, Michigan. The cottage can be enjoyed throughout all of the seasons of Michigan. Ice fishing too...there is an ice auger in the shed. The cottage is situated in a private neighborhood that is adjacent to over 2,000 acres of state land for hunting and hiking. There is a map in the photo section.
The space
This a 900 square foot home with 2 bedrooms and 1 bathroom. Each bedroom has a queen bed. The master bedroom overlooks the lake and has a clothes dresser and garment rack and a 40 inch smart TV. The 2nd bedroom is smaller, but does have a closet and dresser. The utility room has a washer and dryer that guests may use as needed. The bathroom is spacious with a new vanity sink, toilet, and a updated shower (no bathtub). The large open living space contains a counter height dining table with a leaf, leather couch with dual recliners with a matching swivel recliner. A futon is located against the living room wall to create an additional sleeping space for 1-2 guests. The updated kitchen boasts quartz countertops, a massive stainless sink (big enough to bathe your toddlers), and a handy double oven with an over the range microwave. There is new vinyl plank flooring throughout the home.
Guest access
Guests will have access to the entire home. The sheds are inaccessible. Guests have use of the private boat launch next door. This launch is only for residents of the neighborhood and their guests. Guests have full use of a dock, paddle boat, 2 kayaks, 1 paddleboard, and a shared swim raft/waterslide and swim pad. If you need extra kayaks or paddleboards please message the host and we will do our best to accommodate your needs. Life jackets are available on the property, but if you need different sizes just ask! There are general use items in the cottage that can be used as needed, but please put them back where you found them.
Other things to note
Please keep in mind that this home is located on a private dirt road. This road is maintained by residents and your visit may occur during a span of time when the road is in need of maintenance. Please drive carefully. As you park your car just pull right onto limestone parking spaces. There is enough parking to comfortably fit 4 vehicles. This is a lake which is a natural area so keep in mind this will be cottage living! You are welcome to use the hot tub at the main house just keep in mind that even though it's not private, you won't be sharing it with others at the same time. The hot tub is at home of the host and it's only 20-50 feet away from the cottage. I do not list it as an amenity as I don't want to disappoint anyone as I cannot guarantee that weather, water balance, or function will be in full working order. The hot tub is an optional bonus for guests who want to use it.

The cottage is located 15 miles west of Alma, 25-30 minutes southwest of Mt. Pleasant, 1 hour north of Lansing, 1 hour northeast of Grand Rapids. If you need to visit your favorite college student at CMU or Alma College this is the perfect location! The Soaring Eagle casino is an easy 30 minute drive. Guests attending concerts have enjoyed staying here.

Welcome to The Crystal Lake Cabin located in Crystal, Michigan only an hour away from Lansing and Grand Rapids. Our family-friendly place is a charming, cozy, rustic A-frame style, one bath cabin at the end of the quiet dirt drive. Take a five minute walk and have a picnic at our private dock or the beautiful Crystal Lake public beach during the day and end your evening by grilling dinner on the deck and a bonfire at night. Make some memories at this unique and family-friendly place.
The space
The Crystal Lake Cabin is a six person knotty-pine cabin with one main bedroom which has a queen-sized bed and four twin beds on the loft. It is located near the 724 acre all sports Crystal Lake in Montcalm County; one of the few lakes in mid-Michigan with crystal clear water and sandy bottom and many sand bars in the middle of the lake for shallow swimming. We have our own private lake access with a dock that is about a five minute walk from the cabin. If there is a day that you don’t want to be at the public beach, you can spend it at the dock with picnic lunch where it is a little more quiet. There are chairs available at the dock for your use as well as kayaks. Please do not sit in either boat that is anchored at the dock. Feel free to use the kayaks, but you MUST have life jackets on your person when using them. It is the law and for your safety. We have two adult life jackets at the cabin available for your use. Please return them to the cabin when you are done. You also might want to kayak earlier in the morning and on the edge of the lake when it isn’t as busy compared to the day.

If you bring a boat there is a public boat launch for you to use. Once in the water, you can anchor your boat near our dock you just need to bring it out of the water in the evening. Our driveway has plenty of space for two cars and a boat and trailer.

Enjoy grilling and eating out on the deck for your meals on those warm, sunny days! We have both a gas and charcoal grill for your use. There is also a fire pit, picnic table and chairs in the large side yard and a hammock in the front yard.

The inside of the cabin is cozy and compact and has everything you need to enjoy your stay! The kitchen is well-stocked and so is the bathroom. We have extra beach towels and bag for your use if you need them. There are a variety of small appliances that are always convenient to have in the kitchen. Coffee, tea and cocoa are provided!

Hang out on the giant, comfy couch for a family movie night with a tub of popcorn. We have family games, a Smart TV and access to Netflix and family friendly DVD’s if you are up for an old school movie night. The bathroom is rustic but clean with lots of storage and extra bath towels and amenities.

The main bedroom contains a comfortable queen-sized bed, a dresser, washer and dryer in the closet. There is also a window air conditioner for your use. The loft has four beds and a dresser. Please keep in mind that the loft stairs are steep so consider sleeping arrangements if you are bringing little ones under three years old or someone who might have difficulty climbing a ladder to get to the loft.

Crystal has lots to offer in the summer in addition to the beach! There is a local skating rink, an old theater downtown, as well as Crystal Motor Speedway. There is also B&C Golf Cart rental if you’d like to rent a golf cart for the day! Anderson & Girls Orchard is just a short drive if you’d like visit some farm animals with your little ones. Two favorite places to eat are Oliver’s Pizza and Ike’s Ice cream if you want to eat out one night. Blanchards grocery store and Family Dollar and Dollar General should have everything you need for your stay. If you’d like a larger grocery store, Meijer is only 25 minutes away in Greenville.

Please have fun, but no parties at the cabin. This is a family-friendly lake and neighborhood.

Come spend a week at Crystal Lake! The "Lake House" is the perfect cottage for you and your family to come spend some time swimming in the lake, or to stay while visiting someone you know! Recently remodeled in 2021 complete with central air conditioning. It has one floor with 3 bedrooms and one full bath. Back patio has a grill and smokeless fire pit as well as a front deck with a table and chairs. Lots of space for animals to run around outside and enough paved parking for 4 cars! Just a 30 second walk to the water. Our dock has plenty of space for several boats to tie up and stairs into shallow swimming area.
New in August 2023 Stacked washer and dryer with steam. There is also a clothes line if you prefer outdoor fresh.

This newly updated (except the laundry) 1650 sq ft house sleeps 8. We have 3 bedroom with a master bed and bathroom. The house is located within walking distance to the beech bar and restaurants and has lake access of its own. There is ample room on the 800 sq ft main floor to gather and has front and rear decks for outdoor seating and entertaining.Front yard fire pit for evenin gatherings. Our Retreat Center is a 6,000 sq ft modern rustic lodge situated on 10 partially wooded acres with comfortable bedrooms, areas to gather inside and out, and meeting spaces for small groups. There's a path through the woods with reflection stations and a prayer labyrith as well as a pool that's open during the warm season and a firepit area. There is an access site you can anchor a boat at for the day (anchor, no dock or land, but you can anchor in the water and walk back to the cottage), the beach is 1/2 mile away, and raceway is 1 mile away. Welcome to Crystal Water's Edge Cottage! This home is PERFECT for two families! Adults each in one of the formal bedrooms and a convertible couch, sofa bed, and futon for the kids! With no street to cross to get to the lake, the fun of the beautiful Crystal Lake is right out your door! ONE full and TWO half baths means a toilet on every level! No fighting for a bathroom! Fast fiber internet and central A/C make the inside just as comfortable for work or play!

Entry Level - The street level has two bedrooms. One with a KING bed and one with a QUEEN bed. There is a HALF BATH off the entry for the convenience of both bedrooms.

Mid-Level - Down a carpeted set of stairs, you will come to the Kitchen/Living area. The FULL BATH with a shower (no tub) is also on this level and a convertible sofa bed, and futon. Sit at the kitchen island for a snack, pull the pub table over if you need more room, or take it out on the adjacent composite deck to the outdoor dining table that can accommodate 6 people and a BBQ gas grill. Two padded loungers are also available for your relaxation. There is a TV with ROKU and all the apps, so you can log into your favorite streaming channels on the large TV inside. The kitchen has a dishwasher, full refrigerator, blender, toaster oven/air fryer, electric stove and oven, microwave, Keurig, and a drip coffee pot. Plenty of pots and pans and service ware - both for outdoor and indoor enjoyment.

Downstairs/Lake Level - Ahhhhhh, the LAKE awaits you! Just out this door, you have the beautiful Crystal Lake. Floaties, a Lily Pad are available for your convenience. Kayak rental on the lake. There is a brand new pullout sofa for guests and a small washer/dryer combo. The second HALF BATH completes this level and is very convenient while playing on the lake.

Linens and pillows included! A beach towel, bath towel, and washcloth per person also provided! One roll of paper towel, a kitchen sponge, dish soap, dishwasher soap, and one roll of toilet paper for each of the three bathrooms provided. Hand soap, shampoo, conditioner, body wash also provided!

Not suitable for toddlers without constant supervision, due to water depth off seawall, 2nd story deck, and 3 levels of stairs.

Must receive prior host approval to tie a boat to the dock or anchor at the property. Proof of boat insurance will also be required. There is 35 feet of frontage that includes one dock.

No "day guests" allowed. No fireworks. Must be 25 years old to rent and renter must occupy the home for the duration of the rental. Total occupancy is limited to guests on original reservations, who must be disclosed at the time of reservation. Proper count also ensures sufficient linens and towels are available for you. Any guests beyond original reservations are considered unauthorized events and are strictly prohibited, resulting in immediate cancelation of the duration of your reservation. This applies not only to the home itself but also to the grounds, including the private waterfront and dock. Dock is guaranteed in only through September.
