We have all been coming here since we were kids so it holds a special place in our hearts and we love the privacy and the beauty of this secluded lake. There are no gas motors and the lake is very clean with many springs keeping it that way. It's on a peninsula surrounded by popular trees and the breezes always blow off from the small lake. This lake has no motors on it and is spring fed. It is connected to a larger lake by a channel. Ideal for couples, girlfriends, or a single person looking to unplug from it all and become one with nature. It is teaming with wildlife and is ideal for birding. I have been teaching contemplative walking meditations, offering life transition ceremonies and retreats here in this safe, sacred space for three decades. The restorative energy here is amazing. Many say they feel it as soon as they drive in the driveway! Imagine floating in the small, quiet lake that mirrors the clouds and natural shoreline of the trees. Around you fish are jumping, great heron live here, turtles sunning, birds fishing, dragonflies galore! So bring something to float on. It's 40 minutes away from Grand Rapids which is a fun city to explore. Rockford is 20 minutes and has nice boutiques, restaurants, and a park by the dam. You can rent bikes there for the White Pine Trail or canoes to go down the river. They drop you off and pick you up!

Enjoy sunrises from the deck of our quaint, little 2 bedroom, 1 bathroom cottage on Big Crooked Lake in Kent County, Michigan. Big Crooked Lake is a 152 acre, all sports, private lake, with great fishing for blue gill, perch, bass, pike and walleye. Private sandy beach & shallow swimming area on the property. There is also a no-wake cove, accessible by boat, where people anchor their boats to swim and socialize. The cottage is 900 sq. ft. and it will sleep 4 comfortably, one bedroom has a queen size bed, the other has two twin beds. Many amenities included such as a furnished kitchen, including basic food staples, dishes, coffee maker, also hair dryer, linens, iron & ironing board, bedding, towels & beach towels. We are also providing a grill, patio furniture, lawn/beach chairs, fire pit & fire wood and a sandy beach and dock! Fishing poles are available, but we recommend bringing your own favorite gear. We provide a 12' rowboat for our guests, which works great for fishing and paddling around the lake, it also has an electric motor with two lithium batteries. There is a private boat launch available if you want to bring your own boat, which you can dock at our dock and park your trailer at the cottage. Please be sure that any watercraft brought in from other lakes is clean and free of invasive species. All boaters must operate within the State of Michigan Boating Laws and BCL Association rules.There is a dock available on the property for fishing/swimming from and docking one boat.
We also have two kayaks for our guests to use.

However, the property does come with 2 kayaks and a swimming raft! Although this property is located on Horseshoe Lake, you can access all 5 connecting lakes via waterway with a flat boat, canoe, or kayak, make a day's adventure for boaters!

Having a 3-seasoned screened-in porch with furniture allows you to enjoy the view in comfort. This home wouldn't be complete without a fire pit, charcoal grill, and picnic table to embrace the lake front views. When it comes to suitability for multi-generational families, the area inside the cabin is absolutely ideal since it is a ranch setting, with just a few steps to reach the door facing the driveway. Still, if you want to walk down to the water's edge/ dock there is a significant incline. While there are small steps leading down to the water, there is NOT a railing. Please use caution. This walkway isn't suitable for anyone with balance concerns.

Linens: Yes, we provide you with basic sheets and linens. Just like a hotel, the beds will be made for you upon arrival. If you are particular about the thread count of your sheets, let us know, and we will make sure we leave a bed open for your sheets.

Smoking: No smoking allowed of any kind, on the property. Due to the close proximity of the neighbors, it is strictly prohibited.

Snowmobiles: a person (resident and nonresident) that operates a snowmobile in Michigan is required to purchase a snowmobile trail permit. The trail permit enables snowmobilers to ride state-designated trails and thousands more miles of public roads and on public lands (where authorized). It is valid for one year, which begins Oct. 1 and ends Sept. 30 of the following year. State-designated trails are open Dec. 1-March 31 and grooming occurs when there is enough snow on the ground.
- Michigan DNR Snowmobile Trail System – The Pine River Trail is nearby and connects to the state trail system, accessible within 10-15 minutes
- Flat River State Game Area – A popular area for snowmobiling, approximately 15-20 minutes away.

Closest Grocery Store: There is a grocery store approximately 10 minute drive into Greenville, MI. Meijer is there.

Towels: Yes, we provide towels. Please bring your own beach towels to take to the water.

Washer and dryer: Yes. Detergent is provided.

Water: This cottage has simple well water. It is hard water. There is NO water softener. There is a lot of iron in the water as a result. It may have a sulfur smell, like eggs. You may prefer to bring your own bottled water, as some guests find the taste in the cottage water to be too strong.

* Cross-Country Skiing – Trails at Riverside Park in Greenville, about 15 minutes away.

* Sledding at Local Parks – Several parks in the area, including in Greenville, offer great sledding hills.

The 3 season room was a peaceful spot to drink my coffee each morning." - "It was a really nice stay for a quick weekend away. All the amenities you need for a home away from home were included. The only suggestion is the washer in the bedroom needed to be cleaned. It made the room smell like mildew. The shower head needs to be updated as it has red and orange rust coming out of it and have the water looked at. We are used to well water, but it seemed like it needed to be checked. All and all we had a nice time and enjoyed the water and mini beach area."

Come enjoy Michigan at its finest on all sports and trophy fishing Murray Lake in our new million dollar home. Close to downtown Grand Rapids, MI, 30 minutes from the airport, and about an hour to Lake Michigan, this home is the perfect location for visitors or locals to just kick back and enjoy life.

We just finished renovating our home. Everything is new and up to date. The kitchen is fully-stocked and has all the features of a gourmet chef's dreams. Dishes, appliances, glasses are plenty and high end. In addition to the 8 seating dining table, there are more tables that can extend your seating. The fireplace has an original barn beam mantel and copper chimney. There are plenty of sitting/conversation areas throughout the home. And for the men and kids, there is a man cave with a large screen TV! Outdoors is a calming waterfall, large firepit, grassy lake side yard and beautiful clean sand....everything to make your stay perfect!

The home accommodates a maximum of 15 guests, whether visiting for the day or sleeping in the home. Our neighbors prefer no parties or larger groups than 15 people. We request that our guests respect this so we can continue to share our home with others on VRBO. Many communities have banned vacation rentals for this reason.

On a more positive note, we have a great dock for fishing and a swim raft on the edge of the drop off. There are paddle boards and kayaks at no additional charge. We do have a pontoon (and tube) available for rent, $1,400 for the week, plus gas.

If interested, we can put you in touch with either excellent catering companies or a personal chef, photographers, light maid service, baby sitters, life guards, or boat drivers. The lake is very clean and we have a fresh sandy beach steps from the home.

Nearby there are great bike paths, zip line, Lake Michigan beaches, Grand Rapids breweries, local farm produce and ice cream, and only 15 minutes to downtown Lowell, best ribs in Michigan or a quick 20 - 30 minutes to Grand Rapids.

- "We had a lovely visit. A few things happened...one of the GFI outlets had to be replaced which my son was able to do, we saw a mouse and discovered old food in the basement. We set traps. Then the tornado storm hit very close to us in Kent County! The generator did not automatically come on so my sons had to work on it to discover the oil cap had not been secured by whomever worked on it prior to us. But in spite of these issues, our host was extremely responsive and tried very hard to make everything right. She worked with us at every step and tried to make sure we were taken care of. We had a wonderful time."
