"Blue's Pad" as this cottage is lovingly referred to is an updated 2 bedroom 2 bath home with 200 feet of spectacular lakefront views on all sports Wixom Lake. While the lake is waterless until fall of 2026, it is still a wonderful place to enjoy the peaceful mornings sipping coffee and afternoons relaxing or playing games with the family.

In the dining space you have a cabinet full of board games, coloring books and puzzles. In the garage air hockey, mini basketball, pool table, foosball and darts. Outside there is a basketball hoop, volleyball net and cornhole. Lots to do to keep the fun going for hours. When you are ready to go on an adventure neighboring towns such as Midland, Gladwin, Beaverton and Mt. Pleasent offer a ton of things to do! We hope you enjoy this super cozy cottage and make a ton of memories with family and friends. This cottage can sleep 10 people comfortably. 1 queen, 6 twins and a double pullout bed. We do not provide firewood. If a previous guest leaves any, we will be happy to leave it out for use. We have a full kitchen, washer and dryer, bedding and many other necessities to make your stay comfortable and seamless!

Please be respectful in remembering that this is a cottage! We run on a septic and well system, oils/fats from cooking have jars under the sink for proper disposal and flushing anything other than the toilet paper is prohibited.

On the south shore of Pratt Lake, in the community of Gladwin, MI sits our fun filled red 2BR lodge style cottage with granite counters in kitchen and knotty pine throughout on 50 feet of water frontage. Pack your swimsuits cause you will need it as the sandy beach is great to swim and play. Pratt lake is great for your skiboat, waterskis, tubes, pontoon, kayaks or jet skis to play on all of the 180 acres Pratt Lake offers! Relax at the picnic table or sit and gaze at the lake from the deck. Grab a book and read in the sand. Enjoy the beach and great views of Pratt Lake. Pack your 'Smores' for the outdoor fire pit. Fish from the 40 foot dock. Public boat launch down the street to launch all of your toys. Plenty of room to secure your boat on the dock. Canoe and Row boat included for use. Clear water - great swimming. Water depth at our shoreline increases gradually - good for children (we have 4, so its actively used!). Firm, clean bottom. If you like to fish there is good pan fish, bass, and pike fishing. A few walleyes are caught each year as well. If the fishing is tough, take a trip to downtown Gladwin and hit the trout pond! Light boat traffic except on holiday weekends. Our cottage was built in the 20s and was one of the original cabins on Pratt Lake. It has a full kitchen with granite and dishwasher with all of the pots/pan/cookware amenities, 1 full bath room with tile floor, a large living room, lodge style knotty pine walls. Dark bamboo hardwood floors. There are three queen beds along with one sleeper sofa. Very open kitchen/ dining/sun room view looks out over beautiful views of the Lake.

Awesome sand bar to park your boat for a relaxing stop in the lake.

Enjoy 1000s of acres of state land within miles of quiet paved roads ideal for cycling, ATV, hunting or walking. Canoe around the lake at dusk for great wildlife viewing. Look for our breeding pair of bald eagles or listen to the loons on early Pratt lake mornings. Look out at the point and you may see our local deer enjoying the water.

Golfing within 10-15 minutes. 5 minutes to the public library.
6 miles to downtown Gladwin for shopping, 30 miles to Houghton Lake, Midland and West Branch. 2.5 hrs from both the greater Detroit and Grand Rapids suburbs. Excellent ice cream store with the Gladwin famous “Pigs Platter” within 4 miles that can’t be missed!

A cozy cottage with a fantastic waterfront view of Wiggins Lake. You'll be able to take it all in while you're swimming in the lake or enjoying a great view and some shade on the front deck. Maximum occupancy is 4 guests.

The cottage is well maintained, clean, and has all the basic necessities to enjoy your stay on the lake. Please note we have a *no pets* policy as Kathryn is allergic and we also want to protect other guests that are sensitive to pet hair & dander. We purchased this cottage in Aug 2020 and bought new bedding, towels, pillows, glasses, silverware, kitchenware, and more. We refresh them as needed and strive for you to have an amazing time on the lake!

Renovations in July 2025: We increased the size of our dock and added a new 12ft x 10ft sitting area to the end of our dock! Grab some chairs and enjoy some coffee as you watch the sun rise over the lake! Or sit out during sunset and listen to the loons call! You'll have an amazing view of the lake as you take it all in.

Renovations in May 2022: A full remodel of the bedroom and some improvements in the living room. We got a comfy new Queen bed/frame from Denver Mattress (Doctors Choice Elite Euro Plush - since people have asked us!), floating nightstands, ceiling fan, black out curtains, and more. Power on each side of the bed and USB plug in each lamp.

Renovations in May 2021: Full remodel of the bathroom and front room. Included new lights, vanity, sink, mirror, chairs, couch, custom wall planks, several painted walls/ceiling, and a ceiling fan. We also installed new wood floors throughout the cottage too.

For liability & insurance reasons we ask that you stay off the pontoon boat and our neighbor's property/docks. We've got amazing neighbors, but they don't want the liability of unknown guests on their property. Thanks for your understanding! :)

Drinking Water: The cabin does have well water which has a different smell than city water since it is not chlorinated. The drinking water is triple filtered and the bathroom water is double filtered, but there still may be a slight odor to the water due to the type of water in the area. Rest assured the water is clean and suitable for use but some guests may choose to bring bottled water for drinking.

Drugs/Smoking/Fireworks: Freshwater does not permit illegal drugs of any kind on the property. Due to the location of the properties, smoking is strongly discouraged around the home and strictly prohibited in the home. Fireworks are prohibited at a Freshwater location for the safety of all persons in and around the property, even if it is legal in that city.

Fishing: Some common fish you will see in the nearby lake are large mouth bass, walleye, bluegill, pike. Please be sure to bring your own poles as there are none at this property. Also, in order to fish in Michigan lakes, one is required to hold a fishing license.

Handicap Friendly: Let us explain what we mean by handicap friendly…there is a zero-1 step entry into this home, and it is one level (a ranch-style home). The bathrooms and hallways are not up to official handicap standards and do not come equipped with special apparatus to help those in need. There is a steep hill down to water however.

Internet: Yes.

Lake Rules: There are rules at this all sports lake, they are posted at the property. Most importantly they have a quiet time at 11:00 pm.

Linens: Yes, we provide your sheets and linens. Just like a hotel, the beds will be made for you upon arrival. We have just the basic sheets, pillows, pillow cases and bath towels.

Parking: There is enough room for up to 3 cars or 2 truck/trailer combo. Parking for 2 cars is on a gravel parking area between the road and the cabin. (Not the yard)

Pets: 2 Dogs are welcome! Freshwater Vacation Rentals currently charges $75/per pet for your entire stay. Yes, we do accept dogs, yet we do ask that you please clean up after them both inside and outside the cabin. Plus, if you allow them on the furniture, we do ask that you please bring your own linens/blankets for them to sleep on. Just let us know which bed you will be using with them, and we'll make sure it is ready for your sheets when you arrive. Plus, if the pet hair starts to build, we do ask that you please run the vacuum. Generally, dogs love the water and places to explore. Pet food does tend to attract mice, so vigilance is needed.

Privacy: Cottage right next door.

Seniors: Come one, come all! This space is great for those over 60. Sometimes when renting a home, you are never too sure about the terrain: is the home on top of a hill, is parking on a steep slope, are there 100 steps to the beach or the unit, etc. This home gets the FVR approval for the young at heart!

Snowmobiles: a person (resident and nonresident) that operates a snowmobile in Michigan is required to purchase a snowmobile trail permit. The trail permit enables snowmobilers to ride state-designated trails and thousands more miles of public roads and on public lands (where authorized). It is valid for one year, which begins Oct. 1 and ends Sept. 30 of the following year. State-designated trails are open Dec. 1-March 31 and grooming occurs when there is enough snow on the ground. We think you will be elated to find all you need in the fully stocked kitchen and we pride ourselves on the cleanliness of our cabin. Enjoy the bonus side lot for family fun, yard games or sitting around a bonfire roasting marshmallows. Cabin sleeps up to 8 people in beds with two Queen-Sized beds in the Master bedroom along with a full bed in each of the other two bedrooms. There are many close lakes/rivers for kayaking and fishing close by. There are also 1000's of acres of state land for riding side by sides, hunting or hiking!

Our Secluded Woodland Retreat is Unique. it features 3 secluded cottages (1 main cottage and 2 mini-cabins) on a three-acre property surrounded by Forest. We have no neighbors. The yard features a fire pit, and most yard sports. Relax on the hammock or take a nature hike down a wooded trail. Our property is surrounded by 40 acres of wooded state land. Those 40 acres are adjacent to thousands of acres of wooded state land with trails throughout. We have a swimming Pool.

The main cottage is 1,800 sf with 3 Loft bedrooms, a bunk bed room and 2 full bathrooms. All Loft bedrooms are located in the third level loft, these three bedrooms featuring 1 king size bed each. The bunk bed room is located on the ground level. The main cottage sleeps a total of 14 people comfortably (22 persons if both Mini Cabins are Added). The second floor of the main cottage includes a full kitchen & dining area, living room with couches, a 60” TV, full bathroom, and laundry. The second floor also features multiple outdoor decks and stairs connecting other various & unique areas. Main cottage bottom floor has been converted into a bunk bed room (so that we can offer sleeping accommodations with bathroom access on the ground floor) and 1 full bathroom.

There are 2 “mini cabins” on the property that are available to rent at an additional price for larger groups: Mini Cabin #1 is approximately 20 feet from the main cottage. Mini Cabin #2 is approximately 100 feet from the main cottage and built close to the water. Both Mini Cabins comfortably sleep 3-4 people. Each Mini Cabin is about 240 sf and feature:
• A full-size futon, recliner, and coffee table on the 1st level
• A queen bed in the loft area

Our Woodland Retreat is very private with a huge yard and no neighbors.

- "Wonderful place to spend time with family. Stayed in town for a family wedding. Enjoyed the fishing and waterfront. The home owners had many of the “things you forget” available. Appreciated the little things, cotton swabs, makeup remover wipes, HAIR DRYER, ziplock bags, games ect. Amazing view from this recently renovated lakefront property! An ideal place for a family get-away, a romantic weekend, or a fishing trip. Come and soak away your daily grind in this quaint cottage. To be so close to the water, with the options of sitting around the fire pit, or on the deck brings ease into the cottage experience. Family members will appreciate being able to watch the kids play in the water from the deck, with the convenience and comfort of this ranch-style home. Sitting in the sunporch is the optimal way to view Pratt Lake from inside, however the views of the lake are spectacular from almost any room. There is space for yard games, all while enjoying the fun along Pratt Lake. Don't forget your 4-legged family member! He/she is welcome too.

Due to the location of the properties, smoking is strongly discouraged around the home and strictly prohibited in the home. Fireworks are prohibited at a Freshwater location for the safety of all persons in and around the property, even if it is legal in that city.

Fishing: Some common fish you will see in the nearby lake are large mouth bass, bluegill, pike, and walleye. Please be sure to bring your own poles as there are none at this property. Also, in order to fish in Michigan lakes, one is required to hold a fishing license.

Lake Rules: There are rules at this all sports lake, they are posted at the property. Most importantly they have a quiet time at 11:00 pm.

Linens: Yes, we provide your sheets and linens. Just like a hotel, the beds will be made for you upon arrival. We have just the basic sheets, pillows, pillow cases and bath towels.

Parking: There is enough room for up to 2 cars. There is additional parking along top of hill.

Pets: 2 Dogs are welcome! Freshwater Vacation Rentals currently charges $75/per pet for your entire stay. Yes, we do accept dogs, yet we do ask that you please clean up after them both inside and outside the cabin. Plus, if you allow them on the furniture, we do ask that you please bring your own linens/blankets for them to sleep on. Just let us know which bed you will be using with them, and we'll make sure it is ready for your sheets when you arrive. Plus, if the pet hair starts to build, we do ask that you please run the vacuum. Generally, dogs love the water and places to explore. Pet food does tend to attract mice, so vigilance is needed. THE YARD IS NOT FULLY ENCLOSED.

Privacy: Cottage next door.

Seniors: Come one, come all! This space is great for those over 60. Sometimes when renting a home, you are never too sure about the terrain: is the home on top of a hill, is parking on a steep slope, are there 100 steps to the beach or the unit, etc. This home gets the FVR approval for the young at heart!

Snowmobiles: a person (resident and nonresident) that operates a snowmobile in Michigan is required to purchase a snowmobile trail permit. The trail permit enables snowmobilers to ride state-designated trails and thousands more miles of public roads and on public lands (where authorized). It is valid for one year, which begins Oct. 1 and ends Sept. 30 of the following year. State-designated trails are open Dec. 1-March 31 and grooming occurs when there is enough snow on the ground. Enjoy a beautiful cottage on “Wixom Lake”. If you are not familiar with the area, in May 2020 dams failed changing the landscape. Although there currently is no water this retreat will provide you a unique getaway. Our home sits on one of the “fingers” of Wixom Lake and currently has a small stream running through. There is a ton to enjoy on the property and the surrounding area. 2 bedrooms and 2 full baths, rec room with a pool table, dart board, bar, tv. Weber BBQ Grill and indoor hot tub.

Full exclusive use of the home, deck, patio, two fire pits, grill, yard games, dartboard, pool table, arcade games, Xbox, basketball hoop and indoor hot tub. 1 bedroom has a queen bed with attached full bath. 2nd bedroom is a full bed with a single top bunk. The living room has 2 sofa couches that can sleep 4. There is a Jacuzzi brand hot tub in the sun room. All buildings on the property have heat and a/c. Other things to note there is WiFi and four smart TVs (living room, both bedrooms and rec room) ran by Firestick and/or Roku. The indoor hot tub fits two adults. Use of two kayaks are included that can be taken to nearby sites.. **As mentioned, water is not accessible but a natural creek runs through. You will notice in the pictures this water level changes seasonally** We are on a small septic drain field so we ask that guests limit using the hot tub once per day.

We especially loved The Toasted Toad “bar” which was a perfect addition when you’re traveling with an infant and can’t go out to a real bar. Pool table, dart board, TV. We offer a private, air-conditioned cabin, perfect for family weekends, girls’ trips, or a weekend with the guys. 2 bedroom and 2 bathroom cabin. Full kitchen with new granite countertops and brand-new stainless steel appliances. Coffee pot with keurig included, as well as air fryer/toaster oven. Kitchen includes basic cookware set, utensils, cutting boards, and basic dinnerware.

Off the kitchen is a two-person eating space, as well as a six-person kitchen table. This feeds into the living room, complete with a new couch that converts into an even larger couch, OR a two-person sleeper. The living room has a 58-inch 4K Roku Smart TV, complete with external plug-in ports; you can log in to your own streaming apps. To the right of the living room is a second family space, with wraparound couch to seat 5-6, as well as full view of the large TV.

The first bedroom features a trundle bed with an additional twin bed. The sleeping area is adequate for three individuals to have their own sleeping area as well as a 48-inch Roku 4K Smart TV and dresser to store your items. The nightstand has 2 plugs for phones or tablets.

The master bedroom also features the same nightstand, a queen-sized bed with two dresser drawers, and a linen closet and attached master bathroom with shower. The bonus perk in this bathroom is a washer/dryer, which can be cordoned off with the door so others sleeping aren’t bothered.

The entire cottage walks out to a Florida room of windows that overlooks what will soon again be Wixom Lake canal. The back room includes a two-seat futon, coffee table and complete outdoor set for four.

Finally, the room walks out to the backyard fire pit with four Adirondack chairs. We have a full size corn hole game set to use as well. The yard is large enough for games and there is a park across the street to throw a football. (This is a private family community/park, so please be respectful of neighbors, roadways and the surrounding area.)
