- "My large family stayed at this beautiful home and had a wonderful time! The weather was very hot so it made us appreciate the water and the outside space even more. The neighbors on the end of the cove were not there during the week of our stay, so it felt very private as we tied our rafts to the dock just to float in cove area. There were a few minor things we noticed (screens on the doors were slightly torn and housecleaning could have been better as we found cobwebs in some of the rooms and crumbs around/in furniture) but I brought to Renee's attention--she responded in a timely manner and I'm sure those things will be addressed. Renee made the whole process easy and was quick to respond to questions. We enjoyed evening bonfires, but the yard does have quite a slope, so it was not the easiest for my elderly parents to come down to that area. We spent a day tubing down the Rifle River and another day went into West Branch to the outlet mall. This home allowed us to all gather together and have such a nice family vacation. Rent our available 22' pontoon boat for your stay or bring your own boat and tie-off to the dock right out front. The house is conveniently very close to the boat launch.

It has a large patio to enjoy the outdoors and a fire pit for late night bonfires. Propane grill also provided.

This house is situated for family use, no larger groups or parties allowed. We must be respectful of the neighbors.

*Note there is a new concrete patio that replaced the deck shown in the photos. It is much nicer with concrete walkway and steps to the lake. New photos coming in the Spring after the landscaping is completed!

Sleeps 10 people comfortably (2 King, 2 Queen, 2 Full beds, and an optional futon). Two bedrooms are on the main floor with a King and Full bed in each, along with one full bathroom. The third bedroom is up stairs with two Queen beds, a futon, along with the other full bathroom, and a seating area with a nice lake view.

Fully stocked kitchen with pots/pans/utensils. Dishwasher and washer/dryer provided. Linens and towels also provided.

Access to the entire house and property. No access to the shed or locked supply closet.

Parking is available for 3 vehicles and could also park on the side of this dead-end road with limited traffic.

**** There is also a 22' Pontoon Boat available to rent for your entire stay for $250 per day or $1,250 per 7-day week, which includes a full tank of gas. If you rent the pontoon, it must be for your entire stay, no daily rentals. The pontoon boat seats 12 people and has a 50hp motor to get around the lake and enjoy the sand bars. Pontoon will be tied to one side of the dock. Separate rental agreement and waiver is required. Guests are responsible for appropriately sized coast guard approved life preservers for all children that cannot wear standard adult life jackets. No pets are allowed on the pontoon boat.

Please note that the dock and pontoon boat will only be available starting in May through September. The dock will be out of the water and stored (on the side of the property by the water) outside of those months.

Disclosure: I do have outdoor cameras that can record audio & video. They are in plain sight for security purposes and not hidden. There will never be any indoor cameras anywhere inside the house to respect guest privacy. Any attempt to tamper with these outdoor cameras are prohibited. There are two cameras facing the lake, one camera facing the road, and one camera by the entry door.

I also have two Amazon Alexa devices in the house useful for playing free music. Technically these record audio but it is only available to Amazon for their Alexa function and users cannot access. Feel free to unplug these two devices if you are uncomfortable with them.

Unobstructed views of the lake’s beautiful 3 islands, boundless nature including beavers, loons, foxes, eagles and more abound from the open concept kitchen/dining/living room as well as the expansive 2 tier decks with comfortable patio furniture and grill. Many lake amenities are included with your stay including a giant swim lilly mat which children enjoy for endless hours, several kayaks, and stand up paddle boards.

The space
Hewey Lake Hideaway has 2 small cabins that each have 2 bedrooms, a half bath, a living space and a nicely equipped kitchenette. Each cabin sleeps up to 6 people with a double bed in each bedroom and a futon or a convertible sleeper in the living area.
Also included is an adorable bunkhouse that has 4 XL twin beds, kitchenette area and a charming covered porch. The bunkhouse has no plumbing but the bathhouse is nearby!
If your group needs another cabin, inquire about our add on studio cabin.
The campground area has 4 large RV spaces with access to water and electric and several areas to pitch a tent or park a small camper. A huge pavilion, small playground, outdoor games, group campfire area, a lakeside recreation room and included kayaks, rowboat and paddleboat all add to the fun!

If you're looking for a vacation rental this summer we have the place for you. We have a lot of great weeks left available. We have an 1100 square foot cottage on a lake in Hale, Michigan, 2.5 hours away from the Detroit Metro area. It is a 2 bedroom with a loft that has 2 full size beds, 1 bathroom. We are 5 minutes away from the very small town of Hale, Michigan. It is country living and not near big cities. Hale has a lot to do in the summer from boating, fishing, swimming, 4-wheeling, sightseeing, canoeing etc. Or, you can just stay at the cottage the whole time. If you have a ski boat, bring it and you can park it at our dock and be feet away from using it whenever. We also have Bluegill, Bass, tons of Northern Pike and Perch for fishing. There is also a loon family that shows up every year that you can listen to while enjoying a fire at night. If you're lucky, you might also get to see the resident eagles that live in the area. We have a kayak, canoe, paddleboat and SUP board for your entertainment. We also put a beach in for the kiddoes.

Dogs are allowed but they must be friendly and under 30 pounds. There is a $45 dollar fee for any dog. We will need a copy of there rabies shots.

***The place is not available for short stays for Mud Jam. If you want to rent the place for Mud Jam, please look elsewhere. ***

We provide a home for families to unplug from the real world and grow closer. Therefore we do not have wifi or cable TV. Most cell phone services do work at the cottage. If we do need the internet, we run to Victorian Cafe in Hale and use their service. If there is an important game on, we head to the Long Lake Bar for the game. There is a TV hooked up to a DVD with tons of DVDs and VCR tapes when the weather is bad. We also have board games available for all ages.

Please note that we do not have room for a washer or dryer, so we can not offer linen. You will need to bring your own linens. We wish we could supply it.

Enter the cottage using your personal code on the front (side) door located on the driveway side of the property. The driveway offers space for up to 3 vehicles. Enjoy a fully enclosed deck off the kitchen where you can grill dinner on a propane BBQ or access the lake. This deck is fully fenced and offers an enclosed area for “pet business”.

The kitchen is fully functional with cookware, utensils, and dishes. The adjacent dining area seats 6 comfortably (8 is a bit cozier). From the living room, you can access a spacious second deck lined with tiki torches and outdoor tables. Continue around on the deck to relax on the wicker patio set under the sunshade.

Guests have access to one side of the dock (the other side houses the owner's boat), 2 kayaks, a foam "lily pad" mat, and a paddle boat.
