I'm sure there were far more tales to here. Nighttime Bob was a hoot...interesting life but not so incredible that it was unbelievable. Nothing special about the breakfast, tubs of scrambled eggs, sausages, hash browns, pancakes, cereals and cakes, but it was tasty and in good supply...to go cups readily available. The room was clean, everything worked and no issues with supplies...towels etc. No safety concerns but parking could be a problem in season. Mt Rushmore was practically walking distance...uphill lol. Nov begins off season...think Stephen King "Shinning" come the snows. Nothing is open off season except the monuments. Had to travel into Rapid City for restaurants...40 minutes. All in all our stay at the Roosevelt was memorable in a very positive way."

Just a stone's throw from Custer State Park! Three guest cabins, and two suites located in the lodge, are located on 6 beautiful, serene, and quiet acres in Custer County, SD.

The Carol Jean is a historic cabin getaway that we renovated a few years ago. The Carol Jean includes a kitchenette with granite countertops and all new appliances. The bath includes a large natural rock shower. The cabin sleeps four, with a king bed on the first level and two twin beds on the second level (loft). There is an all redwood deck with a swing for outdoor relaxation.

All cabins include Wifi, 32" Roku TV, air conditioning, heating, and outdoor dining facilities with access to a barbecue grill. Cell service can be spotty all through the Black Hills. However, we have recently, (Spring 2022), upgraded to Starlink satellite internet.

This cabin has a swing set and other outdoor equipment in front of it for children to use. There is a large meadow on the property and if you walk to the end of it you can see Mt. Rushmore through the trees.

McDonald Mountain Ranch is in a very convenient location. Center Lake is nearby, which is a swimming/fishing lake with picnic tables, barbeque grills, showers and restrooms; located 2 miles away from the ranch. The Black Hills Historic Playhouse is also within a few miles. The beautiful Iron Mountain Hiking Trail is right around the corner. The Wolf Camp outdoor restaurant which serves barbeque ribs, burgers, pizza, etc is 1/2 mile away. The entrance to Custer State Park is also right around the corner. In our opinion we have the best and most beautiful property and location in the hills!

We do not have guest laundry facilities. There are laundromats in Keystone and Hill City.

Unfortunately due to many considerations and despite the fact that we are huge animal lovers, we do not allow pets in our property. If a guest arrives for their reservation with an animal they will NOT be given a rental key NOR issued a refund.

Check in is at 4:00pm MST. Because we have a full house and are small staffed please do not arrive early. Late check in is fine, just give us a call to arrange it.

Driving and Parking Info:The Ranch is located directly off of a well maintained and paved county road. Our driveways are hard packed dirt and gravel. We have limited parking near each of the cabins and suites. We have an additional parking area at the rear of the main lodge. We have a large, well kept meadow beyond that for overflow parking of motorcycle trailers, side by sides, etc. We ask that you please do not block the main driveways or the two car garage at the front of the property.

LOWER LEVEL OF HOME ONLY, NO SHARED SPACE. IDEAL LOCATION in the heart of the Southern Black Hills, 2 miles west of Keystone on the Old Hill City road, a famous motorcycling route. Experience the 1880 train that runs directly by the property. Enjoy the sites, specialty shops, great variety in food and entertainment with Mt Rushmore 5 minutes away, Crazy Horse within 20 minutes and if you enjoy gambling Deadwood is approximately 45 minutes travel time. For the nature lover, several hiking trails within walking distance. Owners live in the upper level of the home.

We can accommodate up to four people comfortably. We prefer children to be at least 8 years of age and older please!! There is a gas log stove in the living room area and wouldn't wish a younger child to touch it and get burnt!!

The property is nestled on a wooded lot, spacious open floor plan lower accommodations with separate entrance. Fully equipped kitchen, rec room houses arcade console, pool table, foosball table and a hockey table. Living room has satellite television and wi-fi included. Queen size bed in bedroom and 2 queen sofa sleepers in living room that house children well.

Outdoor space includes propane grill, table and chairs with additional seating available. Also a fire table to roast marshmallows, cook hot dogs or to enjoy some heat on our cool summer evenings!!! Child proof skewers are provided!

Our cleaning standards are above normal with Covid 19 on the rise. I use an additive that kills 99.99% of germs for all the laundry loads between stays. I also wash all bedding that includes sheets, blankets, comforter, mattress pads and even the zippered pillow protectors!! Also all towels, shower curtains and bath rug are laundered between guests. We use antibacterial wipes on all door knobs, pool sticks, pool balls, air hockey, foos ball table handles and arcade handles!!

The view from the home is beautiful, you can see Mount Rushmore in the distance. Nice Hiking on the property and close to everything. Very Private, which is nice when you come back from a long day. Crazy Horse is also, close. The Badlands is about an hour and 15 minutes away.
We also live on the property but we will never bother you unless you need something. You have your own place and we have our own home.

All my husband wanted for his birthday in May was to see the monument one last time but this trip was so much more because of American Pines and their location as well as the pet friendly atmosphere. We recently rescued two pups less than a year old and this was their first trip away from home. We almost did not go because of them but Becki and Austin were fantastic. - Early check-ins or late check-outs aren’t always possible, as we often need the full turnover window if another guest is departing or arriving the same day especially with larger groups.
- If flexibility opens up, we’re always happy to let you know. Please reach out if you’d like us to contact you in case an early check-in or late check-out becomes available. If you’d like to arrive several hours earlier, we recommend booking the night prior (if it’s available) to guarantee early access and settle in at your own pace.

PETS
We allow up to 3 dogs of 50lb each, for $75 per pet per stay. Pet Fees
At the moment of booking, if you add your pets, the platform will include the fee for the first pet in the total, and we will request the additional ones afterwards.

This property requires completion of a brief pre-arrival check-in through a secure third-party platform called **Happy Guest**. This includes:

**1. MAXIMUM OCCUPANCY**

Guest must accurately disclose the number of adults, children, and pets in the booking. This number applies to both overnight and daytime visitors. Unauthorized over-occupancy may result in eviction without refund.

A $500 fee applies for indoor smoking or vaping. Outdoor smoking is permitted only with windows and doors closed. Guest is liable for odor or residue removal costs.

**5. CLEANLINESS**

Guests are expected to maintain the home in a respectful condition and report any cleanliness issues within 24 hours of arrival.

**6. NOISE & QUIET HOURS**

Quiet hours are from 10 PM to 9 AM. Excessive noise or neighbor complaints may lead to eviction.

**7. PARKING**

Parking instructions and capacity are listed in the property description. Unauthorized parking or exceeding the limit may result in fines or towing.

**8. LOCK OUTS / KEYS**

Keyless codes are active during your stay. Lost keys or lockouts may incur up to a $150 fee.

**9. LINENS & SUPPLIES**

Please refer to the listing for what is provided. Only flush septic-safe toilet paper. Plumbing damage due to misuse will be charged to the guest.

**10. ISSUES OR COMPLAINTS**

All issues must be reported immediately and within 24 hours of arrival. Guests must allow the host an opportunity to resolve any problems before requesting outside intervention or refunds.

**11. REHOUSING & REFUNDS**

No refunds or reimbursement will be offered if a guest chooses to vacate the property early or declines offered solutions.

No subletting or third-party bookings allowed without prior written approval.

There are no indoor cameras. Outdoor cameras, smart locks, and safety devices may be present and must not be tampered with.

Guests must secure the home when not present. Entry codes must not be shared with individuals outside the booking party.

**16. ENTRY DURING STAY**

Host or agent may access the property with proper notice. Light cleaning may be scheduled for extended stays.

**17. INTERNET USE**

Illegal or abusive internet use is prohibited. Guest assumes all responsibility for online activity and must secure their own devices.

**18. FALSIFIED RESERVATIONS**

Providing false information (age, party size, purpose of stay) will result in eviction and loss of payment.

- "We had an amazing stay here! The host was very clear, quick to communicate and gave great instructions for check in/check out. The home was clean and comfortable (temp) when we arrived. The home is also decorated beautifully and has more than enough space to relax and get comfortable. They had everything we needed such as shampoo, conditioner, lotion, laundry detergent, kitchen supplies, dishes, pans, wine glasses, board games, blankets, etc. The list could go on! The game room was much enjoyed as well as the stores kit and the outdoor fir pit. They also had a beautiful enclosed patio for the chilly mornings or evenings. The little stove was a great was to heat the space and add to the ambience. We sat here and drank our coffee on the chilly mornings. The home was a quick drive to restaurants and shops and of course Mount Rushmore! We saw several deer and enjoyed the beautiful views from the home. What a great stay and we truly can't wait to come back again! Thank you for a great vacation!"

American Pines Lodge is a 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom home that can sleep up to 12 people with a queen bed in each room, a sofa sleeper in the living room & 4 portable cots. There are 2 full bathrooms, one being a master bath with a soaker tub, fully furnished kitchen, living room area with satellite TV & DVD player, as well as front & back decks with propane BBQ grill & yard area with a fire pit. This is a side x side duplex & we, the owners live in the other unit. There is a dual locking door between the 2 units. Located just 5 miles from Mt. Rushmore & 2 miles from downtown Keystone, American Pines Lodge is close to most major attractions but sets on 4 acres of mountain meadow in a beautiful valley with Battle Creek running through the property. Our other listing, American Pines Cabin, is also on the same property. There is a playground & basketball court available for our guests. Hiking & biking trails are accessed right off the property as well as ATV/UTV rentals through Black Hills Wilderness Edge to get off the beaten path & experience the Black Hills.
