Marshall Gulch Getaway is an authentic hand-hewn log cabin overlooking a serene valley on 7 acres just 2 miles outside of Hill City. A mountain creek flows within view below the cabin. Deer and turkeys are frequent visitors in the yard! The cabin is tastefully decorated with décor fitting the mountain atmosphere. This cozy cabin has a king size log bed in the loft, and a double bed on the main floor bedroom. We allow a max of 4 adults in this rental. If a third sleeping area is needed for a child, you may bring an air mattress and necessary linens. The kitchen is spacious for a family of 4-5.

There is one bathroom with a tub/shower combo and laundry accommodations with washer and dryer. The loft bedroom has a window AC. Board games and playing cards available for rainy or snowy days. There is a 47-inch flat screen satellite TV in the living room, along with a real wood burning fireplace! (And electric heat throughout). We supply a starter supply of firewood, and you can purchase extra at a local grocery store.

The covered front porch is a favorite of guests to sit and watch the wildlife and let the day slip away. Around back is patio with a Gas Log fire-pit that has plenty of outdoor seating to have your morning coffee, outdoor meals, or just sit and watch wildlife. A propane grill is also provided. This cabin sits on a beautiful hillside overlooking the valley below with views of Black Elk Peak. But, the drive to this cabin is a piece of cake and parking is plentiful. Large grassy lawn with plenty of space to roam. This rental is a time-honored favorite for repeat guests.

Walk to downtown Hill City! Enjoy the Black Hills while staying in the Twilight Hills cabin, centrally located in Hill City, South Dakota. This cute, remodeled cabin is a leisurely walk to downtown shops, the 1880 Train, the Black Hills Institute of Geological Research and Mickelson Trail.

This property has been described by guests as private and peaceful as it is set back from the main street. This location is just a short drive to Mt Rushmore, Crazy Horse, Custer State Park, wineries, Sheridan, Pactola and Deerfield lakes and much, much more. If relaxing is your plan, the cabin has a porch where you can just put up your feet.

The cabin was completely renovated in 2016. The cabin has two bedrooms and each bedroom has a queen size bed. The living room sofa pulls out into a bed. Both bedrooms have an air conditioning unit and a ceiling fan. There are also USB plug-ins for charging your devices. Brand new washer and dryer in 2021.

In addition to air conditioning in each bedroom, ceiling fans are located in the living room and both bedrooms.

The bedrooms and bathroom both include all necessary linens/towels, hand soap and shower soap. A blow dryer is provided. The smart TV in the living room has a full motion wall mount and Basic cable TV service. The Smart TV located in the South Bedroom also has Basic cable service.

This cabin is fully furnished and equipped with everything needed for a comfortable stay including a washer/dryer and laundry detergent. The kitchen includes a drip coffeemaker, full sized refrigerator, stove, oven, microwave, dishwasher, hot water kettle, pots and pans, utensils and kitchen towels. The newest addition to Hill City is a VERY LARGE chain saw art Smokey the Bear on the north edge of Main Street. In 1939 the Hill City Rangers received the honor of using Smokey the Bear as their official school mascot after school boys assisted with a forest fire that threatened Hill City. The Hill City school district still remains the only school in the United State allowed to use this mascot and hold their graduation ceremonies at Mt. Rushmore.

The Hynes Family Cabin is a once-in-a lifetime experience. Built by our grandparents nearly a century ago, the cabin will transport you and your family back to the beautiful, authentic charms of the Old West, while you enjoy plenty of modern amenities.

The cabin sleeps seven, with three twin beds and two queen beds. Its 40’ wide sleeping porch is unique, and has a truly breathtaking view. Our grandparents chose this location for the most beautiful vista they’d ever seen. At sunset, you’ll see Mt. Elkhorn and Black Elk Peak (formerly Harney Peak) glow pink and gold. An occasional rainbow will dazzle you. Each morning you can watch a herd of horses running from their nearby pasture to the stable.

Children love the Hynes Cabin. Great climbing rocks are all around. Our original ball and claw bathtub is on the porch, filled with pillows and inviting kids to read and snooze. “A Boy’s Life in the Hills,” written by our dad, shares tales of his many adventures. Our guests love to sit on the porch or in our cozy living room and read tales about the West. It’s a place that encourages rest and renewal, with lots of fun things to do close by and a quiet place to come home to at day’s end.

There’s a chest full of fun family games and a DVD player. KOA amenities – trail rides, a water slide, miniature golf, two swimming pools, movie nights and pancake breakfasts – are available. Only the trail rides and pancake breakfasts have a fee. Many nearby trails invite hikers of all skill levels. Iconic Mt. Rushmore and charming Hill City, “the art capital of the Hills,” are both just six miles away. Pristine Sheridan Lake, where the family can swim, fish and hike, is only a 15-minute drive away.

The Hynes cabin is a perfect place for a romantic getaway, too. Its beauty, quiet and privacy will help you relax and refresh. There are two queen beds, one on the porch and one in the living room.

There are so many personal touches that you’ll feel right at home. Our handsome queen headboards were made by a local carpenter, and the four pine chests were built for the cabin in 1925. Frances made all the curtains by hand, just as our grandmother did nearly a century ago. On the porch there’s a display of some of the daily objects she used: her apron, her Vaseline glassware, her Mixmaster and other objects. The coffee table was made from the cabin’s original closet. Newly installed solid wood doors compliment the cabin’s authentic feel. A book of photos tells the history of the Hynes Cabin.

The 40’ wide sleeping porch is just as it was 100 years ago, with our family’s saddles hanging on the rafters. Antique light fixtures from the 1930s adorn the two bathrooms. The newly refurbished kitchen is fully equipped. And for nearly 100 years, guests have been sharing their memories and whimsy on paper plates that are all part of this truly unique experience. THE HILL CITY EXPERIENCE Let’s get you acclimated with what “downtown” means. Two doors down is a bicycle rental/fix-it shop, which helps you get to 109 miles of the Mickelson Trail, right across the street. In less than a minute’s walk, you can ride the state’s only steam-powered passenger train, visit the South Dakota State Railroad Museum, the world’s largest private fossil research facility and museum, four art galleries and specialty shops, two adventure shops, chocolate and ice cream parlors, one wine-tasting room, and several stores with a wide variety of goods. You also have your choice of tourist-oriented fare, including Black Hills Gold. Within three minutes’ walk, you have your choice of seven restaurants. Just outside the pedestrian district, and within a few miles in each direction, there are even more specialty shops, wineries and tasting rooms, saloons, and more. Hill City…it’s a thing. FURTHER Visitors can park in the driveway and stay put for their whole trip—or hit the road to one of the area’s natural attractions. Roger Brooks, nationally-known branding expert, has called the Black Hills area the nation’s most “attractive” place—when it comes to the number of things to do. Don’t forget Custer State Park to Devil’s Tower, Black Elk Peak, the Needle’s Highway, or our area caves, including Jewel Cave, with the third-longest passages in the world. Explore agate-hunting beds, go fishing, hunting, hiking, horse-back riding, biking, snowmobiling, ATVing, and whatever else you can think of. Keep in mind that the Secretary of Tourism has called Hill City the state’s arts mecca, which has contributed to its reputation. You’ll also meet thousands of motorcycle riders in early August, attendees of the world’s largest bike rally—but that can get a little loud. Other sounds include the steam train whistle from across the street, and an artistic chainsaw artist who works in the afternoons across the alley. The Villa is located just up the hill from the 1880 steam train depot and museum. You can wave at the tourists on the train as it rolls into the station but rest assured, the train won’t wake you from your slumber. It only runs a few times a day and is barely heard from inside the house! It’s sure to be a highlight of your stay!

The Villa is not a good fit for large groups or anyone traveling with a big rig (off street parking is required by the city-please inquire before booking if you have a camper, trailer, etc.).

This rental is for the entire main floor of the home. A basement with completely separate entrance is not included in this rental and is reserved for use by owners.

NOTE—With the standard modest rate that we offer on Vrbo, a mini breakfast (in a basket) will be provided in the accommodations, consisting typically of simple breakfast takeaways, in case guests need a burst of energy prior to searching out one of the eateries in Hill City or the surrounding area. The mini breakfast might include fruit; breakfast bar or bagel or muffin or other pastry or oatmeal packets; milk (for oatmeal or coffee or simply to drink); cheese or boiled egg or yogurt.

You will see your private full bath, with a 4’ shower having 6 handy shelves; and an assortment of amenities throughout—linens and towels are provided, as well as shampoo, conditioner, body wash, hand soap, dish soap. The bed is a queen-size pillowtop. For holding baggage there are two small discreet tables and a long low dresser with drawers, and hangers to the right of the dresser. Plus a 2' round table and two comfortable chairs.

You may create your own evening warmth by lighting up the firepit; and perhaps CharBroil something good, to eat sitting on a stump (rustic-style), or at your picnic table, or on the patio while gently swinging the glider, basking in the view. The pebble base surrounding the firepit, when first walked on by our granddaughter gave her occasion to remember with pleasure the beaches in Florida where she was raised. So, we have dubbed the nostalgic pebbles, Shelby’s Beach…styled with a bowl of seashells and a duo of cranes. You may even be entertained by osprey, deer, bunnies or wild turkeys, or locals walking their pets around the football field's track.

Indeed, you may take pleasure in the peaceful quiet surrounding our two in-home cabins, and amusement from the infrequent novelty of an event taking place on the football field, afternoon or early evening, on rare occasions, which we ourselves find entertaining.

The KITCHENETTE has dishes, utensils, coffee and tea, salt and pepper, an undercounter refrigerator, microwave, toaster, coffee maker, and a pantry of sorts (inside the barrel) for your goodies. Speaking of goodies—NOTE—with the standard modest rate that we offer on Vrbo, a mini breakfast (in a basket) will be provided in the accommodations, consisting typically of simple breakfast takeaways, in case guests need a burst of energy prior to searching out one of the eateries in Hill City or the surrounding area. The mini breakfast might include fruit; breakfast bar or bagel or muffin or other pastry or oatmeal packets; milk (for oatmeal or coffee or simply to drink); cheese or boiled egg or yogurt.

Though the accommodation is serviced regularly, your host and hostess are generally available by text if anything is needed, since we have our own quarters in the residence.

Smart TV with Roku is provided, also cable programming for local channels. WiFi internet service through our cable provider is included.

Green Mountain Suite is a beautiful pine, log-accented, cabin-style suite which sleeps TWO guests. This suite has a personal outside entry which is accessed by following the boardwalk around the home, to the east side of the house. The front sitting/viewing area is a log-railed loft, which is open to the foyer below, but visually private because of the turn in the stairway. Sweet little studio apartment at the top of Hill City. Attached to the host's business, an art studio/gallery & gift shop... so we are available to answer any questions or give local attraction suggestions during business hours most days. There are linens, dishes, pots and pans in the apartment and a gas BBQ grill on the patio. There is a TV with blu-ray player and available for streaming (but no cable or satellite), as well as some games and puzzles. Plenty of off-street parking. Walking distance to EVERYTHING Hill City has to offer. Dining, drinks, art galleries, gift shops as well as grocery, post office, laundromat, convenience store and more. The beautiful Black Hills are right here... Mt. Rushmore and Crazy Horse as well as hiking trails and lakes are just down the road. Keystone, Custer, Deadwood, Spearfish, Rapid City and Sturgis right in the neighborhood too.

Its a rustic cabin on the outside and a modern cabin on the inside.
When you walk in it has a full kitchen , full size appliances (stove - refrigerator- coffee pot - microwave - toaster) and all the dishes/pots and pans that you'll need- open to an area with a queen bed and then a bedroom with a full bed - walk in closet and bath/shower combo. A small deck off the creek side for morning coffee and a picnic table and its own charcoal grill. Its perfect for a couple, for a girlfriends getaway - bikers mountain retreat or a family of four.

All you'll need is your food and clothes the Holly House Creekside Cabin has everything else you'll need for your stay. Even the bathroom has plenty of towels - shampoo/conditioner/ soap.
Lots of room to park a car - truck- trailer whatever your need is - if you have a motorcycle it can be parked on a concrete slab right by the deck door of the cabin.
If you like fishing its only steps away from your cabin door. lots of Wildlife and we have a firepit for your use all you need is the firewood and the marshmallows.
Its sits behind the Holly House Bed & Breakfast on the back of the property by Spring Creek that flows all the way around the property. Just 2 miles North of Hill City.
There's a TV - 2 recliners in the room that has the queen bed - the kitchen has a large bar and bar stools. It has air conditioning or heat and it's a perfect place to come back to at night after a long day enjoying the sights in the Black Hills.
Price listed is for 2 people $160 per night in the summer season, its $10 per additional guest up to 4 people. If its a family of family like 2 adults 3 children it still fits your family. The cabin is 500 sq. foot. And fits a family perfect.

This cabin has 3 queen beds (one in the bedroom and two in the loft), a queen sized hide-a-bed sofa in the living space and 2 full bathrooms. It has a kitchen with microwave, toaster, coffee pot, full size fridge and freezer, electric range, dishes, silverware and cooking utensils. There is a picnic table and grill out front. This cabin also has electric heat, electric fireplace, AC, and Satellite TV.

Western Sky Cabin is a 2 level, 2 bedrooms, and 3 bathrooms.

The main level includes a living/dining area with vaulted ceiling, bedroom, bathroom, and fire stove to keep your group cozy on those cooler nights. There are plenty of seats around the table to fit everyone. Step out onto the deck from the main entrance and head down the flight of steps where you will find a gas grill and seating.

The lower level includes one bedroom, two bathrooms, and a spacious living room area with sectional couch, TV, and carpet flooring. There are 2 private entrances to access the lower level.

Western Sky Cabin is non-pet friendly. (Service Animals are allowed). If we discoverer an undeclared animal in the cabin and/or excessive dog hair. There will be a $200 fee added onto your bill.

This cabin is 100% NON-SMOKING/VAPING (No exceptions) Should you smoke/vape indoors, there will be a $200.00 fee that would be added to your bill.

The Mickelson Trail runs right by our property.
